Begrijpelijk,... probeer je maar eens in te houden als je oog in oog komt te staan met het grootste monster uit de wereldgeschiedenis.

Die wassen beelden zijn zo levensecht dat ze nauwelijks van echt te onderscheiden zijn. Om die reden heb ik me voorgenomen nooit naar Madame Tussauds te gaan. Ik ben bang dat ik me, net als deze 41-jarige bezoeker, niet in kan houden bij het beeld van Kylie Minogue. En dat zou publiciteit opleveren die ik Kylie, Madame Tussauds, maar vooral mezelf liever wil besparen.

Μια μεγάλη τιμή-έκπληξη επιφύλασσε η βασίλισσα Ελισάβετ στην Κάιλι Μινόγκ. Η Αυστραλή τραγουδίστρια, η οποία κάνει καριέρα στη Βρετανία, εξεπλάγη, όταν ειδοποιήθηκε ότι θα βραβευτεί από τη βασίλισσα με το παράσημο ΟΒΕ για την προσφορά της στη μουσική. NME reports that a man in England planned to kill himself (stab himself to death, actually) in protest to the Iraq War, when a Kylie Minogue song came on his MP3 player and swung his mood another way.

"Thinking about it, the song was my downfall," The man, named Ninja Ant, is quoted as saying. "How can anyone be violent when they love Kylie's music? It's not possible."

That's weird. When I hear Kylie's music it has the opposite affect on me.

Prince Charles awards Kylie Minogue her OBE at Buckingham Palace

Britain has honored Australian singer Kylie Minogue for her services to music.

The 40-year-old pop star received an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, from Prince Charles during a ceremony Thursday at Buckingham Palace in London.

She was lauded for a career that spans more than two decades.

Minogue first appeared on British television in the mid-1980s soap opera ''Neighbors.'' She has since sold millions of albums. Her hits include ''I Should Be So Lucky'' and ''Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi.''

An idiot judge (hat tip to Mashable, so that we don't sued!) has ordered Google hand over private data of potentially huge numbers of users.

This pertains to music because if you have ever watched any music videos whose rights are ultimately in the possession of Viacom, you're pretty much screwed. It's highly unlikely you would face any repercussions, but man, I'd hate to be one of the guys that did. I don't defend piracy, but I also don't defend ridiculous demands like access to my IP address and my login information. Youtube is world's away from something like OiNK. On OiNK, you know you're downloading an entire CD. On Youtube, I have no memory of watching a video owned by Viacom, but then that doesn't mean I haven't. It's so much harder to remember everything that's been watched on Youtube, because it all runs together after awhile. I don't remember what I've embedded or what I've watched.

Like Mashable pointed out, the implication here is that Viacom is making this move to threaten Google and Youtube's viewers and users. Cool? No, not cool at all. Google has more or less tried to defend its user's privacy in most cases, at least compared to other large internet companies.

Like I said, piracy is piracy. But in the case of Youtube, I just don't think a lot of people thought about copyright issues when they were watching videos. People who use invite-only torrent sites are going to be aware of copyrights and the legality of what they're doing. People see Youtube and they go, "Wow, this is a huge company with all these videos, so it must be cool, right?" I just can't seem to find it in me to criticize people who watched Viacom's videos on Youtube, really.

Oh, bonus:

Kylie Minogue has now saved exactly one more life than My Chemical Romance has. High five, Kylie.

O Coldplay revelou que Kylie Minogue gravou uma música com a banda, mas que foi caracterizada como demasiadamente sensual para figurar em Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. O vocalista Chris Martin afirmou que a faixa fora intitulada Lunar e que fará parte do repertório de um disco que será lançado em 2009.

"Nesse estágio, não podemos soar tão 'sexy'", ele disse, referindo-se aos motivos para que a canção não tivesse sido incluída no novo álbum. "É uma música chamada 'Lunar' e Kylie está particularmente brilhante nela. Estará num disco que lançaremos em 2009, mais ou menos no final do ano. Será a nona faixa, eu imagino".

O cantor disse ainda que outra música que fará parte do disco será a versão completa de Life in Technicolor, com vocais. "Isso vai encerrar as atividades da década. Não sei o que vamos fazer depois".

Due to her vast and significant contributions to the world of music, she was given an Order of the British Empire (OBE) award from Prince Charles yesterday. She is only an Officer, though, and hasn't made the cut to Commander or Knight. Yet.

Kylie, please know that our fingers are crossed for you. C'mon, baby!

Speaking ouside Buckingham Palace after being presented with her OBE by HRH Prince Charles, Kylie told reporters, "It's quite overwhelming, I knew I'd be nervous and obviously I was very excited but it was emotional .... to share this day with people from all works of life and to have my family here, it was just magical, wonderful." Poco importa que la condecoración le vaya a destrozar el vestido de seda, que el color se funda con el de su piel,  que las estrellas bordadas parezcan fuera de lugar.

Soy de las que dan muchas vueltas a la hora de decidir qué ponerse en ocasiones especiales y la respuesta está en esta foto: un vestidito de tejido noble, un recogido informal bien hecho y lo más importante  ¡la mejor de tus sonrisas!

Congratulations to Kylie who is at Buckingham Palace today to receive an OBE from HRH Prince Charles for a lifetime of music making. Accompanied to the ceremony by her parents, Kylie stepped out of her chauffeur-driven limousine looking stunning in a shimmering cream-coloured Yves Saint Laurent dress decorated with large stars and gold high-heeled sandals.

After pausing to greet the waiting media with a friendly "hello" she was ushered into the palace. When Kylie found out last December she would be made an OBE for services to music, she said, "I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the UK, my adopted home, in this way."
