GL ha regresado.

Recuerdan, que hace tiempo saque un post sobre el futuro de GL? Bueno, en el decía detalles sobre la película y videos musicales para promocionar la misma. Estos videos serian una vista diferente al universo de GL, y dirigido por diferentes productores/directores…

Bueno, ahora que tuve tiempo de lurkear un poco, me di cuenta que estos videos ya estaban saliendo… y, según fuentes confiables (un anon de youtube…podría checar la pag oficial, pero confiare en ese anon) estos se sacaran cada Domingo…

Y así que, para que no se pasen Youtubeando/googleando/preguntando donde esta el siguiente video, escribiré post cuando salga uno nuevo (y este en youtube, para evitar el trabajo de bajarlo y subirlo xD)…

Kijött a Gurren Lagann Pararell Works első videója. Nem tudom hányan látták már, ismereik, vagy esetleg csak hallottak rólla, de lényegében arról van szó, hogy a GAINAX külömböző alkotói hozzáfogtak egyéni projektek keretein belül párhuzamos világokman játszódó Gurren Lagann animációkat csinálni a már meglévő TTGL zenékkel. Mondhatjuk úgy is, hogy "Profi AMV"-kkel van dolgunk :)

Az első most nemrég jött ki, és látszólag valami Niát-várból-megmentős tipikus fantasy sztorival van dolgunk. A graf elég tetszetősre sikerült és a karakterek korhű környezebe való átültetése se vallott kudarcot (mondjuk a végén a drill azé' befigyel xP)

Nem egy nagy cucc, de azért nyomon követem majd... Érdekel, hogy a többi fejes miket talál majd ki. Stílus van bőven, csak fantáza kell neki. ^^

SERIOUSLY? Galaxy-shattering mecha in high fantasy?

Well, this isn't your Escaflowne or Rayearth. See this video.

This is from Gurren-Lagann parallel works, and seems to be one of a series of "what-ifs" with the characters outside of the original Gurren-Lagann universe. This seems to be a spin-off of what goes on in episode 26, where the characters are trapped in alternate realities.

Anyway, in this video, Viral seems to be a knight of some sort, and his wife (the imaginary wife he has in ep 26) is present. Simon and Kamina are warriors (what else?), and Yoko has levels in Monk and Swordsage. (She can flurry with a quarterstaff.) What appears to be Lord Genome is a huge brute of a Blackguard with really creepy armor. Nia is a princess in the castle.

I don't really have any details beyond this, but it sure looks interesting.

The first video in this epic project has been released, with Kensuke Watanabe directing. These are reimaginings of the Gurren Lagann universe set to music from the series. This means we can have things like future Viral and Kamina existing in the same scene. It also uses fresh video footage not from the original series. This week's video is set to Kamina's theme, and features Viral, Simon, and the man himself storming a castle to rescue Nia from prison.

I suppose the question is, is this the best thing since TTGL?

So this being my first post ever I hope that there will be more to come.

I haven't been this excited for a figure since Wonfes. Lately all the announcements for new figures have been not so great. But this for sure has me super excited! I've been dying for a Kamina figure for about FOREVER!!! He is going to be super pricey but I'll pay through the ass is necessary for Kamina.

Also being released is an awesome version of Yoko as well!

I'm only worried since it's a new figure company. While they are associated with Megahouse we have no idea of the overall;l quality of their work. But I'm going to be getting both anyways... Both will retail for 8,190 yen and both are 1/8th scale. Yoko being released in September and Kamina in August. More information at Heisei Democracy

The Sci Fi Channel in the United States lists two episodes of the Gurren Lagann science-fiction anime series on July 28 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT during the first hour of the Ani-Monday programmng block. Bandai Entertainment announced in April that it had acquired Hiroyuki Imaishi and Gainax's anime, after ADV Films had announced Gurren Lagann last July but then removed the anime from its catalog. Both Bandai Entertainment itself and its newly hired producer Toshifumi Yoshida had indicated that he would be working on the localization for this anime on an accelerated schedule for July.

Impressive, although I'm a bit surprised it's Sci-fi airing episodes and not adult swim. I wouldn't doubt the possibility of AS picking it up in the future though. I remember hearing somewhere though, that Bandai wouldn't be releasing a dubbed version untill sometime near 2009. Maybe that's just misheard on my part, or maybe they're dubbed episodes, since it'll only be the first 2? The article does say they'll be 'working on the localization at an accelerated rate.' I highly doubt we're lucky enough to get a subbed version to air on Sci-fi. Here's to praying for good dubs.

Been busy with school lately but I'll try to get my final impressions of Shana 2, Clannad, and Bamboo Blade up soon. In the mean time i made some more wallpapers.

There all 1280x1024 in size and deal with Gurren-Lagann. A couple are merely resizes to wallpaper shape and a couple where attempts at getting non-wallpaper shaped pictures into something that could be used as a wallpaper and the last one I really like a lot since I threw it together myself.

This is a big time want! I finally started to finish up Seto No Hanayome after Deftoned kept mentioning how amazing it really was. It is honestly really entertaining and fun. It's a must see, honestly i don't understand why it wasn't more popular... Masa san on it is the best really, I've been dying for a dakimakura for about forever but i don't really want to get one with a half naked girl on it, my friends already think I'm weird for having half naked wall scrolls and figures, i think a full body pillow will push them over the edge. If anything I want this to be made into a Dakimakura, Kamina <3.

Let's just say I have some unfinished business that is unreasonably burdensome. It really made my whole day collapse, and I felt really nauseous. It was the first time I felt like throwing up just because of a problem that isn't physical. I was thankful my stomach was relatively empty when I went to the toilet to toss some cookies.

Bueno, hace unos minutos me dedique a mi “lurking” seminal en /m/, y me tope con lo siguiente: información sobre la película y los “MAD’s” de Gurren Lagann.
Sobre la película:

• La historia va a ser completamente diferente, pero las “bases” van a ser similares.
• No se cambiara nada de los personajes, pero algunos estarán más en segundo plano. Se concentraran más en los personajes principales.
• Gainax se disculpo con Megami ya que la pelicula se concentrara más en los personajes masculinos . Nia será la única “heroína principal”. Yoko, Kiyoh, Kinon y Kiyal se mostraran más como personajes secundarios.
• Imaishi quiere darle una diferente acercamiento y/o dirección para que sea más parecido a una pelicula sin quitarle el entretenimiento.
• Nuevos soundtrack y animación.

Over at Derailed by Darry (or Anime on my Mind), Jason has been running a March Madness tournament with anime shows. Well it's down to the final face-off and it's a big one.

I had hoped both of these shows would make it to the finals and they did. I know who I'm voting for but for anyone that comes across this blog before voting I'd like to help your decision.

Fanservice and Moé Modes

For Haruhi we had the walking fanservice machine known as Mikuru who gave us combat-waitress from the future mode, meido mode, cowing mode, among many others.

For Gurren Lagann we had Yoko and Nia (both pre and post time skip) to look forward to. Whereas Mikuru had about as much backbone as a wet noodle both Yoko and Nia could be counted on in times of crisis.

Para celebrar el anuncio y el proyecto, Gainax tendrá diferentes eventos con relación a la serie en el Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008; siendo el primero el 29 de marzo que se llamará "It's Spring! It's Drill! Gurren Lagann Festival!! in TAF 2008" (que se podría traducir literalmente a algo así como: "Es primavera!! Es hora de cavar!! Festival Gurren Laggan!! en la Feria de Anime Tokyo 2008), en el cual se encontrarán los seiyuus principales de esta serie: Tetsuya Kakihara (Simon), Katsuyuki Konishi (Kamina), Marina Inoue (Yoko), y otros invitados que grabarán un episodio de radio en conmemoración del evento. Los seiyuus Yukari Fukui (Nia) y Nobuyuki Hiyama (Viral) se unirán unos días después, para la grabación de otros eventos junto con los ya mencionados seiyuus.

Esperemos que la película logre estar a la altura de la épica aventura que todos vimos en la serie, y que fue una de las revelaciones del año pasado y que nos dejo tan buen sabor de boca, y que no se salga mucho de la trama de la historia o altere los acontecimientos, por el momento no se ha desvelado mayor información acerca de la trama de la misma pero en cuanto se sepa estaré informando por este canal. Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann

Gurren Lagann Spin On!!!( ¡Qué gire el Gurren Lagann!) Simon un niño de 14  años, vive como tantos otros en un pueblo bajo tierra. En estos pueblos mucha gente se dedica a escavar, para hacer los pueblos mas grandes, Simón es un escavador concienciado y muy bueno. Las compañias de Simón no son muy recomendables, Kamina, que le hace llamarle hermano, consigue convencerle para que cave hacía el cielo, hacia la superficie, tras intentarlo y fracasar, encierran a Kamina. Durante su encierro , Simon descubre una cara muy grande, que a la postre resultaria ser un Robot, que utilizaria para derrotar a otro que cae en el pueblo desde la superficie. Fuera  ya en la superficie, descubren el cielo azul y los gunmen, que son estos robots, manejados por hombres-monstruo. Y ahí empieza la leyenda la brigada Gurren-Lagann

Que podemos decir de esta serie, sin tener argumento muy lúcido, salvo las lineas generales de ese estraño mundo y recurriendo bastante a los tópicos, que nos recuerdan a otras series, consigue mediante unos personajes muy carísmaticos, algunos piques y algunas cosas brillantes, mantenernos pegados al monitor del ordenador( En mi caso). Disfrutarla zagals!!!

hmmm. before i get going on this, let me clarify a few things. I watch all my anime with subs, except when i can't get hold of an episode with the original voices and then consider watching a dubbed version. This doesn't happen very often, as there are only two series i can think of that i've watched in dub more than sub ( Gundam Wing and Inuyasha). Dubbed versions of anime generally sound bad to me, just my opinion. My reasons for this can be best shown with Naruto. I started watching that years ago, and waited each week for a new episode to be subbed. After hearing of a dubbed version, i had to check it out, and decided there and then that i would never ever listen to it again. I know it probably sounds pretentious and elitist, but have you actually heard it? Bleach ( another series i used to wait for, but much like how Naruot has gone i care not for either no more) wasn't so bad when i checked that out, at least Ichigo sounds ok. I could go on about many other series that have been screwed by dubbing them, and honestly i think it's a shame. Many peoples first impressions of anime may be dubbed versions of great animes, and some are ok ( Full Metal Alchemist is the only one that comes to mind), but along with the dubbing there is also the censoring, and that i just can't stand for.

To actually get back onto the subject (which this post is about) with the imminent release by everyones favourite (sarcasm?) dubbing company ADV, i'm stumped. Normally i don't think about buying a dubbed version of an anime series i have all the episodes for, especially because of the lack of episodes per disc as well as the high price. But because it is what it is, i'm slightly considering it. what i don't get from the trailer is what any of the characters sound like, maybe a clever move by ADV to lure customers into buying the dvds hoping it'll be alright. Instead we're treated to an announcer who sounds like the guy off Samurai Pizza Cats ( need to find my dvd with the episodes of that, graet childhood memories). And when he says Gurren Lagann it doesn't sound anything like what i's meant to sound like. In the sped up part at the end it sounds right, but i just hope this guy is for the trailer and has nothing else to do with the series.

Well it is meant to come out on the 26th, and i don't know if that includes a UK region disc ( prolly not) but as the ADV website has taken down a load of animes from their website who knows what is going on anymore. Oh well at least i can still watch some Samurai Pizza Cats til then...

You watch that and tell me it's not the same guy.

as my Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann TCG booster boxes won't be posted til Monday. To be fair, last time they turned up within a few days, something i have never had happen when ordering from overseas, but even so, it still means i have to wait. Normally i would be fine, but oh am i bored outta my mind. After watching the latest UFC ( SPOILER : really wanted Lesner to win, didn't like him too much in WWE but wanted him to do well in the octagon) and now waiting for the Superbowl to start ( GO PATS!), i fear i will have nothing to do over the next couple of days. Apart from working in the evenings, i ain't really got anything to do now that my plastic came on the weekend. Could play some games, but everything i play i either get bored of quickly at the moment or spend ages not doing anything particular in the game than mucking around. I'm blame the weather, it's been raining for days, can't go outside to do any photography, can't drive anywhere as my car is dead ( RIP Astra, you'll be missed sorely), and the lack of those two leads to boring days after days. Well at least when these turn up, i'll have something to do. Meanwhile, i'm still trying to set up some sort of diorama for these things, as with these two boxes will be another 12 figures ( albeit only 5 are needed per set, so 10 figures with 2 spare hopefully) and them plus the 7 i already own would look pretty sweet on some sort of stage. 

Well i wasn't expecting my plastic to turn up today (and another package as well from ebay, but thank you Mr Postman for once again not ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door leaving me to wait til Monday to get that one back), and once i had woken up enough i started to make my glasses. After cleaning up some of the tools i had acquired recently, i quickly realized i wasn't awake at all and sawed a 1 inch cut onto my left index finger using a tabletop cutting saw. After fixing my finger, the rest of the process was easy, far easier than i had thought before and wished i had ordered the plastic sooner. The glasses themselves are ok to wear, not exactly the most comfortable piece of eye-wear i own , but definitely the biggest and stylish ( to each his own...).

Next project - some sort of diorama for my figures. And some more photography. At some point.
