Junto a Craig protagonizan esta cinta Mathieu Amalric, Judi Dench, Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton, Jeffrey Wright, Stana Katic, Giancarlo Giannini, Jesper Christensen y Neil Jackson.

My most highly anticipated movie of the year (yes, more than Dark Knight and Iron Man) is the next James Bond film. Now pipe down...I'm not expecting you to agree with me...but my reasons are as follows: 1) they did an amazing job with the last one that I can't wait to see what they do with this one, 2) I'm loving how they're giving Judi Dench more to do and I'll see her in anything, 3) Marc Forster is an amazing director and I can't wait to see what the man who brought us Finding Neverland and Stranger Then Fiction will do with our spy, and 4) Daniel Craig is one of the best actors out there (underrated in my humble opinion) and while this may be a 007 action flick, the layers and nuance he's added to Bond are worth another trip to the theatre.

So without further ado, I give you Bond 22...Quantum of Solace:

See you on November 7...I'll be the one at the front of the line.

The Central School of Speech and Drama (CSSD) is part of the University of London in England,UK .

CSSD offers a wide range of acting and theatrical courses(Stage management, prop making,etc...)

Famous Actors such as Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Judi Dench are alumni of this school.

Applications must be made trough UCAS (www.ucas.com) which is basically an agency that sends out students applications to colleges of their choice.

CSSD has entry requirements Minimum entry requirements are 2 Cs at A Level, minimum of 3 Cs at GCSE and selection by audition. ‘Normal’ offers may be higher than this and depend upon expected grades and audition performance. Exceptionally, applicants who do not meet this requirement but demonstrate appropriate academic potential may be accepted. source: http://www.cssd.ac.uk

Entry is through audition: 2 Shakespeares (decided by CSSD) and a contemporary .

Audition day includes briefing, workshop and audition ( usually in groups)

For more information visit www.cssd.ac.uk

______________________________________________________

UPDATE-Audition Info

- As I have read and heard also (and from own expierience) CSSD likes to send out audition dates at short notice so be ready to audition within a week of notification .... Central chooses the classic monologues so when you get the letter at short notice you will need to study that thing in like a week or two.

-Auditions are in big groups which differs to other drama school auditions where you go in one after the other. At Central you are put in (big ) groups and perform infront of your group ( if good or not is up to you ...in my opinion it can help to see what others are doing and how they perform!)

-Recalled people are announced after your group auditions ....

Brooks”, pjat og vandpjask i de to sidste ”Pirates of the Caribbean”, skabslesbisk psyko-terror i ” Notes on a Scandal” og testosteron-kogende action i "Shooter”.

I ”Mr.

"Everyone Has A Past. Every Legend Has A Beginning. Discover How James...Became Bond."

We were excited to see this one when it came out. We're huge Bond fans. How huge? Well, our wedding had a 007 theme to it and our first dance was to a mix of "Nobody Does It Better" into "The World Is Not Enough." And we had a huge 007 ice sculpture, gun and all. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Well, it rocked. Everyone had a great time and people came up to us after and said they felt like they'd been to the Oscars. lol... We love movies that much, and we felt like the Bond theme was fun, classy and sexy, and it worked out perfectly. So, yes... we're Bond fans...

So to go in and revamp the franchise with 'James Blond' was a bit disconserting for us when we first found out, but our fears were quelled faster than you can shake a martini when we watched a few of Daniel Craig's previous movies. Our favorite being Layer Cake. After seeing it we knew he'd do a great job.

So, onto the movie...

To receive '00' status, an agent needs two kills under his or her belt. The movie opens with Bond's first two. It's gritty and dark and gives an idea of the mentality needed to be a blunt instrument. But as we all know, our dear James is different from the rest, and the movie demonstrates the 'how' and 'why' of it.

Bond's first assignment as a '00' is to go after a terrorist financier that goes by the name, 'Le Chiffre' [played in classic Bond villain style by Mads Mikkelsen]. When Le Chiffre loses a chunk of terrorists' money to a bad investment, he arranges a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro to win it back... to save his own skin.

The story starts out in Uganda with an intense Parkour chace [with Sebastien Foucan, one of the creators of the 'free running' sport], heads over to the Bahamas for some seductive information gathering and then to Monte Carlo for a game of the highest stakes. This movie is a whirlwind with all the right classic 'Bond' elements, but updated. Bond works for women now, with Judi Dench coming back as 'M' and Eva Green as the enigmatic 'Vesper', keeper of the money and assigned to keep an eye on Bond [who has a few secrets of her own]. There's double-crossing, torture, love and heartbreak... and of course, plenty of Bond action. And they're back to promoting the gorgeous Aston Martins. Both the original from the 60s, and the DBS.

If you're a Bond fan, you won't be disappointed with this one, in fact, don't be surprised it it instantly becomes your favorite. If you love action, it's got it in spades. If you haven't seen Casino Royale, what are you waiting for? 4 out of 5.

~ HELENA

Add'l Info: Released: Nov 17, 2008 • Runtime: 144 minutes • Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violent action, a scene of torture, sexual content and nudity

First of all I want to apologise for not updating for a while. My computer, my beloved laptop "Nisse" (naturally my computer had a name) crashed in the beginning of this month, and being short of money, I have not yet buyed a new one, so I'm surfing at libraries and internet cafés and other public places at the moment, which is hugely annoying (and expensive at thos internet cafés) when you're a blogger and, well, for most stuff you have to use a computer for.. which is like everything these days.

Luckily I had backup of most things and, especially, for this blog: all the Tom stuff I have, with pictures, screen caps and posters and stuff. So they are saved, I just don't have a computer to put them in right now.. Hopefully this will change before the summer ends..

Anyway, I just spotted recently that there's an entry for Tom at the site FindAGrave.com, you can find his page here, and I thought there were some lovely comments there, for everyone to read. Sadly (but not surprisingly) his burial place is listed as "unknown". I have no idea where he rests, if it's in Brighton or somewhere in or around Liverpool, if he's buried or if his ashes were scattered somewhere (like at sea or some special place) where only his closest family know. (?) I don't know, but somehow I can imagine this last thing, as it somehow seems like him. ;-) But if someone out there really knows, it would be nice to know.

I'll end this post with a great photo still I found on the net featuring Tom together with Judi Dench, from 1965 film He Who Rides A Tiger. I hope you are all having a great summer!

The legendary Dench played the role of Barbara, a lonely history teacher whose only companion is her cat. Her otherwise boring existence was filled with excitement when Sheba palyed by Cate Blanchett came in the school as a new art teacher. Sheba became the object of her obsession. She fell in love with her.

Sheba had her own personal and family issues, too. She fell for her 15-year old handsome student. The affair was soon discovered by Barbara who had witnessed the two having sex. Barbara was infuriated but she soon realized that this was a sweet opportunity. She confronted Sheba. Sheba explained shakily how the affair happened. Barbara promised she will keep it a secret seeing the situation as an opportunity to be with Sheba.

Notes on a Scandal is a pyschological thriller boasting two of the greatest actresses of our time. The complex characters were played wonderfully by the two. The script was witty. The scoring was operatic, a welcomed instrument in this play-like film.

Judgment: ****
It effortlessly shows how deception and loneliness dictate the actions of people and the tragic consequences they bear in the lives of others.

A story about obsession. Two high school teachers played by Judi Dench (better known as M from the James Bond films, or Queen Elizabeth from Shakespeare in Love) and Cate Blanchett (who incidentally, also played Queen Elizabeth in the film Elizabeth, and from The Aviator with Leonardo DiCaprio) befriend each other. They're relation turns from one of respect, confidence, and loyalty to one of betrayal and blackmail.

Bill Nighy (from Love Actually, Underworld: Evolution, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest) plays Blanchett's devoted husband. Nighy's always got these great roles... Billy Mack, the obsolete rock singer in Love Actually. Viktor, the vampire lord from Underworld. And Davy Jones, the legendary pirate in Pirates.

Notes on a Scandal is actually pretty straight-forward. There appear to be twists and turns, but not really. A married teacher sleeps with one of her students. Her friend and fellow teacher keeps journals of everything going on. They clash. That's all there is to it. The acting is pretty amazing. You have two of the arguably best English actors of our time. Can't really go wrong with that.

The film's kind of dark. The mood is melancholic, sometimes hasty. I think that's to create an uncomfortable environment for the audience. The music and mood do a pretty good job of that. It was adapted from a novel by writer Patrick Marber, who also did Closer, which I realy liked. Director Richard Eyre is a former TV director in the UK. The only other work of his I'm familiar with is Atonement, with which he had a producer role.

Decent flick. Probably not worth renting... But if it plays on TV, I'd DVR it.

"No one can say, now, when the nudity explosion will occur. But when it happens it will be bitter, noisy and exciting."

~ Murray Schumach in The Face on the Cutting Room Floor, The story of movie and television censorship, 1964.

Schumach gets points for realising that nudity was inevitable. As early as 1964, breasts and buttocks were massed, quivering, on the Hollywood horizon, ready to engulf the town. That very year, Sidney Lumet struck a decisive blow for bareness by forcing female nudes upon the public in THE PAWNBROKER, a film so obviously creditable and worthy and impossible to enjoy, the censor was forced to give way and open the nipple floodgates. Although looking at it today it's somewhat strange how well-fed the naked ladies of the Nazi concentration camp "joy division" are. But then, Rod Steiger looks pretty well-fed for a prisoner too, especially since presumably he's NOT supposed to be screwing the guards for preferential treatment. Although you never know, I suppose.

Above we have Dame Nudie Dench, I think playing Titania, appropriately enough, in Peter Hall's long-vanished film of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Has anyone seen it? Is it dreadful?

For some reason the sentence "Nice rack, Dame Judi!" strikes me as deeply amusing, but I suppose I'll grow out of it.

Had the day off yesterday so hitched a lift in to Melbourne with mum and dad as it was the day Mum had her plaster taken on her dodge foot after the operation.(those 7 weeks flew by) and while they sat around St Vincents waiting for Mum's Surgeon to show up I walked down to Smith st and went exploring.

I really enjoy Smith St, when I used to work in that area of Collingwood, I'd walk up and get my lunch and have a wander around the shops and see what I could find.
The street is really very low income in it's feel, with lots of factory outlets mixed in with lots of cafe's and high end clothing shops, but the thing that I enjoyed exploring the most was the Vintage clothing stores.
Living in the country I don't get much of a chance to wander around second hand stores or vintage clothing places, so I made sure that each shop I entered I had a really good look around.
One store was brilliant, two stories high and filled with clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac from the 1940 to 1980's so many things to look at and I didn't have a cent to spend. :(

Saw a few coats that I would have loved, two nice trench styles that fit rather well and looked good, I'm sure I'll find something like them again, but the idea that something in those shops that fit me was a nice thing.

Another shop that I looked in had lots of toys that brought back memories, as well as really old knitting pattens that Mum would have enjoyed seeing.
I know we'll have to find time to come back and see them, now that she can walk better I know Mum would enjoy that one place.

One of the last shops I entered was The Searchers- a secondhand books shop, another passion of mine that has been sorely lacking of late that managed to make me part company with some of the money I really don't have to spend, but the books I bought were very cheap and I know I'll get use out of two of the books, a Terry Pratchett Disc world book - Carpe Jugulum and a Beginners guide to Belly Dancing.
I love both these topics, bit of a closet Disc world fan and I've always wanted to learn how to Belly dance, so I can justify these books, the third book I bought was the paperback copy of a book mum has wanted about Dame Judi Dench.

Mum was a really surprised when I handed her the book in the doctor's waiting room when I arrived back at the hospital an hour later, I had the bag in one arm and a choc Mocha coffee from Hudson's Coffee in my other hand and she'd asked me what I bought, so when I handed it over, the "oh wow thanks" was a nice reply.

That did me in. There was weeping, and there was joy! If you missed it, you can catch it here or on DVD. Though I fancy them, I'm not usually so super-geigh for costume dramas, but Dame Judi Dench as Miss Matty, the heart and soul of Cranford, along with Frank Harrison, the Victorian Dr. McDreamy, did me in. Smitten am I by the stolid but soulful rural residents of the town of Cranford and the year spent there. Now, where's my top hat?

Cranford concluded last night, and I was enchanted to be drawn into the life of the residents of the quaint rural English Victorian village for a short respite. The production was beautifully created by the amiable team of Sue Birtwistle and Susie Conklin, whose magic we have previously enjoyed in another adaptation of Mrs. Gaskell's novel, Wives and Daughters (1999), and the legendary Pride and Prejudice (1995). You can feel the benefit of their discerning eye for detail in the costumes and art direction, and their sensitivity in casting with their choice of a stellar lineup. It all blends effortlessly allowing for a smooth storyline and less ‘what was that' moments that can distract and test the patience of any devotee of period dramas.

Comparisons of Austen and Gaskell are inevitable. They were both women writers who excelled at social observation; Austen with a few families in a country village, and Gaskell expanding upon Austen's sphere into the changing society that affected her characters lives. Each of the ladies wrote in a style reflective of their times; Austen more austere and refined, Gaskell more florid and elaborative. Both authors are highly respected by scholars, admired by the public and have had thier works adapted into popuar movies and mini-series.

My knowledge of Mrs. Gaskell's works is not as extensive as Austen, but in my small library of vintage books is a sweet little edition entitled The Austen-Gaskell Book: Scenes from the Works of Jane Austen & Mrs. Gaskell circa 1920. It is an anthology of excerpts of chapters from both of the authors novels, Austen; Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park and Gaskell; Mary Barton, North and South, Cranford and Sylvia's Lovers. It has been edited as an introductory volume for young readers and includes a delightful introduction written by the editor J. Compton. It is a nicely written piece, touching upon the author's lives, works and critical acclaim. Here is a short excerpt that is apt.

There are authors whose books please even more at a fifth reading than a first, and yield something new every time a reader comes to them. These are authors to live with; they help us in the business of living...Two such authors are Jane Austen and Mrs. Gaskell. They belong to the company of great English writers whom one can never know well enough.

You can read the entire essay in our new Austen opinions page. We shall be adding additional introductions from scholars, writers and Janeites from various Jane Austen novels and critical reviews as time permits which can be quite helpful to students and just darn entertaining for Janeites.

Reflecting on the Cranford mini-series, I was charmed by many performances, especially those of Judi Dench as Miss Matty and Imelda Staunton as Miss Pole. The first was a calming force among a cast of bustling spinsters, and the second was quite the opposite stiring up all sorts of agitation! Whenever Miss Pole was in a scene, there was sure to be excitement or some humor. I just loved the look on her face in the final scene when she meets Miss Matty's long lost brother Peter. Classic! I hope everyone enjoyed the series as much as I did. It was not Austen, but still delightful entertainment.

Dikke aanrader dus!

With box office successes such as 10,000 B.C., The Spiderwick Chronicles, Jumper, Iron Man, not to mention the predictably popular Speed Racer, which recently opened, no one can say that this has been a lackluster year in the film industry. But the year is not even halfway through, and there are still dozens of potential movie goldmines just waiting to be shown to the appreciative public.

Here are a few:

Wanted

Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, written by Michael Brandt, and stars Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Common, and Konstantin Khabensky.

Wanted is a film inspired by and loosely based on Mark Millar’s graphic novel of the same name. Wesley Gibson (McAvoy) is given a chanve to avenge the death of his father, who was apparently a secret assassin. He is approached by Sloan (Freeman), who was his father’s partner, to help him follow in his father’s footsteps. Fox (Jolie), is Sloan’s right hand.

Other than the appeal of seeing Angelina Jolie expertly wielding a gun (again) and the allure of seeing James McAvoy’s boy next door charm turn badass handsome, Wanted’s gripping action and interesting story proves it is definitely worth watching. Watching the trailer is convincing enough.

See for yourself.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Directed by Andrew Adamson, and stars Ben Barnes, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Peter Dinklage, and Liam Neeson.

The Pevensie siblings return to Narnia to help Prince Caspian reclaim his rightful throne from his evil uncle. It may not seem like a very complicated plot, but as with all Narnia books, Prince Caspian may deliver astonishing magic, mayhem, and wonder when we least expect it. The first film, The Lion, The Wtch, and The Wardrobe, may have lacked the amount of action the audiences crave, but Prince Caspian’s trailer seems to promise more.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Directed by Steven Spielberg, and stars Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Cate Blanchett, Shia LaBeouf, and John Hurt.

The plot has been kept tightly under wraps, but we do have a little quote from Mr. Spielberg himself: “The new Indy movie is about a great quest, an amazing quest — and that’s all I’m gonna say."

The Incredible Hulk

Directed by Louis Leterrier, written by Edward Norton, and stars Edward Norton, Live Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, and Tim Blake Nelson.

To make things clear, this is not, I repeat, NOT, a sequel to Ang Lee’s The Hulk. Norton’s screenplay (yes, he wrote it), apparently provides more intense action scenes. To those who were massively a little disappointed with the first Hulk movie can now look forward to a different version, and with trailers like this, it certainly looks more promising.

Get Smart

Written by Peter Segal, and stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, The Rock, Terence Stamp, Masi Oka, and Alan Arkin.

Get Smart is an adaptation of Mel Brooks’ classic comedy spy television series. Steve Carell plays Maxwell Smart, Anne Hathaway plays Agent 99, The Rock plays Agent 23, with Alan Arkin as The Chief. This film sort of has an Austin Powers feel to it (yeah baby), only a little more sophisticated, other than that, it could be a real treat for Carell and Hathaway fans. Can’t wait!

The Dark Knight

Directed by Christopher Nolan, written by David S. Goyer, and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Cillian Murphy, Anthony Michael Hall, and Aaron Eckhart.

Wow. That’s a lot of grade A stars. Christian Bale returns as Batman (the best one in my opinion), and this time he’s facing The Joker (Heath Ledger). I’ve got to say, I for one find Ledger’s Joker far creepier than Jack Nicholson’s. Love this, and I can’t wait to watch it! Don’t worry, we have proof that there will be no bat suits with nipples.

James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Directed by Marc Foster, written by Robert Wade and Paul Haggis, and stars Daniel Craig, Goran Visnjic, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Jesper Christensen, Dominic Greene, Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arteron, and Jeffrey Wright.

This is the first ever James Bond film that will be a direct sequel to its predecessor, Casino Royale. I loved the story in Casino Royale, so I have complete faith that the returning writers, Wade and Haggis, will bring another rich tale. However, Marc Foster’s successful films mostly include sensitive dramas, having directed Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland, and Stranger Than Fiction (extra love for this film by the way). I hope he won’t disappoint action fanatics in Quantum of Solace, it is a James Bond film after all.

Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince

Directed by David Yates, screenplay by Steve Kolves, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Jim Boadbent, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Tom Felton.

I’ve read the book, and as I recall, the sixth installment is where the thick plot finally starts to unravel. I liked the fifth film, David Yates really captured Harry’s emotional progress, but he didn’t really give any of the other characters, Ron and Hermione specifically, much concentration. I get that many Potter book fans are disappointed with how the films stray from the book, but you have to admit that they are entertaining. So go watch it anyway, I sure will.

Twilight

Directed Catherine Hardwicke, sceenplay by Melissa Rosenberg, and stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, and Nikki Reed.

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight is a film about the compelling romance between a vampire and a teenage girl. I haven’t read the book, but I’m a fan of Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Reaser, not to mention that Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter Goblet of Fire) is a definite eye candy, so I’m definitely going to watch this when it comes. Other than that, it’s a film with vampires and very good looking people, who wouldn’t want to see that?

The X-Files: I Just Want To Believe

Directed by Chris Carter, written by Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Mulder and Scully is back! This film is a stand-alone story, so those who haven’t had the pleasure of watching the X-Files series (including me), can still relate with and understand the film. The plot is kept tightly under wraps, other than leaked trailers that show our favorite agents looking for something under some snow and ice, we don’t know much about it, but what we do know is that the film has mystery, faith-science conflict, thrill, intrigue, and some old fashioned Mulder-Scully tension.
