Reports say that Jennifer Gardner is thinking about calling it quits with Ben Affleck. I knew these two were just too quiet for their own good. They say Ben's mom doesn't like Gardner too much. That is crazy, I met Jennifer on the set of 13 going on 30 and she was cool as hell. It's crazy how your parents want you to date this person and that person for these reasons and you get a person who seems very well matched with you and they don't like them. Think about it, she's beautiful, has a nice job, and her own money (not a golddigger). What more do you want Ms. Affleck? Is her booty not big enough?

That's right. I'm going against popular opinions, the overall teenage demographics and those damn tomatoes. It wouldn't be the first time (I'm still hoping Hillary pulls through.)

Since I'm tired and I don't think this is going to be a particularly interesting post, I'll keep this short and to the point. For those of you who don't know the back story yet, check this out first.

At least it was a short movie.

The Pros:

1) The acting across the board was fantastic. Ellen Page was better in Hard Candy but she was pulled this role off pretty well too.

Michael Cera -- same character in every other thing he's ever been in -- and it still works like the gift that keeps on giving.

The rest of the supporting cast (minus that dude from The American Office) was equally impressive. Most impressive was Jennifer Gardner who I was never that big a fan of but pulled off a great, simple but genuinely good character without once reminding me that she is in fact married to a talentless douche in real life.

2) Um... well, there's the... and the...

The Cons:

1) Jason Reitman. Hopefully he's a teenage kid (I won't read his bio for fear that it'll just confirm my hunch that he's probably in his late 20's or 30's) riding his dad's wave to jumpstart an otherwise mediocre career thus far. He used the musical cues that are very reminiscent of Wes Anderson. He essentially used the tone and themes of EVERY SINGLE SHOW EVER ON THE WB (currently The CW)! The shots were equally unimpressive. I didn't get a solid filmmaker feel from any of the shots. It's more like a solid TV director for the WB. Safe. Nothing new or interesting. Like a movie made by a guy who probably wouldn't have a career if not for his father's legacy. Paul Thomas Anderson's dad was also in the same business but at least Paul brought something fresh, exciting and wholly inspirational. Same with Sofia Coppola. Jason Reitman? Eh. He's like the rich guy in school who tries to act like it doesn't really define who he truly is and tries to hide it. That is, until he needs to get into a party, club, gets arrested, needs a job, etc. etc. etc. Then what do you think his first go to card is?

But back to the movie. Listen, this kid has now made two movies in a row that was lauded by the critics and both of which underwhelmed me. He's firmly establishing himself as a filmmaker who'll probably have a solid career without earning any respectable awards like a lifetime achievement or an AFI salutes or anything of that stature. But he'll make some money for sure. Good for him. Michael Bay has money too. I'm sure he's really happy and proud of himself. I'm sure Michael Bay isn't one of those guys who throws parties for himself and just plays it off like he doesn't know who threw it for him.

2) The script. Structurally, it was pretty much a textbook job from any number of Syd Field or a Linda Seger books (yes, I've read them all). So then I'm assuming that all that hoopla over this flick's script was mainly in the dialogue. Here's the thing about that, NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT. Okay, maybe in Juno's world, Juno is just so scary precocious and oh so clever that she says stuff like, "I'm forshizz up the spout" and "I'm calling to procure a hasty abortion". Fine, I'll give you that much former stripper-turned-voice of a new generation, writer lady. But really? Her friends, family, neighbors of various financial status and EVEN THE FRIGGIN CONVENIENCE STORE CLERK! They all speak this friggin' super hip gibberish?! And it's not even all that hip or cool to begin with.

I'm losing steam.

Actually, that's about it.

Now, was Juno as disappointing as say Little Miss Sunshine a couple of years ago? No. Now that movie just plain sucked wet donkey anus. Juno was a bit more enjoyable than that. But not by much. It's like, I feel like all I did was watch a shortened Cliff's Notes season of any number of dramadies on The CW.

But what do I know? Juno did really well at the box office. And that means it must be a great flick, right?

Say, didn't Armageddon do well at the box office too? That movie about a bunch of out of shape oil technicians who are blasted off into space to drill into an asteroid? Didn't that movie do really well that year? Yeah, Juno is just like Armageddon.

The makeup trends at the Oscars this year were mostly of two different kinds if you ask me. There were lots of heavily lined eyes and red lips but not together. There were pale lips if any lips at all (Yes Tilda I’m talking about you). Here are my views of the good and the bad.

Good

Overall Beautiful Makeup

As I've said in previous blogs I've said, I just adored Keisha Whitaker whole look. I loved her makeup her hair and her dress.

Heavily Lined Eyes with Nude Lips

Heidi Klum, Jennifer Gardner and Kristin Chenoweth all had heavily lined eyes with nude lips which I think were my favorite of the looks. Heidi is like Keisha at this award show to me. I adored her whole look, hair, makeup and dress.

Red Lips

Cody Diablo, Vanessa Paradis and Anne Hathway all rocked the red lip look. It was the main focus of their makeup look with all other features being muted. Although I'm brown skinned I never like red lipstick on myself (and believe me I've tried MANY shades and brands). So when I find a woman who pulls off the red lipstick look I'm a bit green with envy.

Bad
Red Lips

I liked Katherine's dress and her hair but her makeup ruined the whole look for me. I get that the strong lights wash a person out so many actors have to apply more makeup than they normally do. But Katherine Heigl has too much blush on and her lipstick looks so matt that it reads dry to me. I just want to put on a little gloss or maybe some chapstick.

No Makeup

In the no makeup look is only one woman Tilda Swinton. Could you just pick up a lip gloss or some blush Tilda! She looked like the walking dead bat woman……ugggghly. Sorry to rag on the woman. I saw the movie Michael Clayton and I liked it. I thought she did a great job in the role but as for her look on the red carpet I'd have to give it an F-.

If you go by the hair trends shown at the 80th Oscars, I'd say a revival of the hairdos of 1940s & 50s is coming. Curls are in. We've moved away, almost in totality, from straight hair. Curls either in a chin/neck bob length or a side parted longer wavy Veronica Lake look were all the rage. These hair styles are the ones that caught my eye.

As I did with dresses, I breakdown my views on which hairdos I thought were good and which were bad and ugly.

Good

I adored Katherine Heigl, Julie Christi, Keisha Whitaker and Amy Adams' hair. I’ve always been a fan of the look from the 40s and 50s and I think these styles look fresh.

Updos
Updos that have all the hairs in place or with hairs all over the place were a nice as well. I felt Heidi Klum's updo was stunning. While Jennifer Gardner's updo with loose pieces framing her face was beautiful in a more casual way then Heidi.

Hair Accessory

I thought Kristin Chenoweth hair accessory was attractive. As a woman with a lot of hair, I'm always looking for eye-catching hair accessories.

Hair Color

Ruby Dee’s Oscar look proved L’Oreal wrong. You don’t need all over hair color to look your best. I found her hair stunning. She proves that an older dog can teach a younger dog new tricks ;) When I go greyer, I'm totally gonna try this look.

Bad

I Hated Calista Flockhart's hair even Harrison Ford (her date) was looking at her hair with a face that said "WTH!"....LOL

I just love that crazy devil. I was deeply disturbed when his show, “I’m With Busey

I just love that crazy devil. I was deeply disturbed when his show, "I'm With Busey" was canceled. I do not like pretty boys like George Clooney. (Although, I did love Dr. Ross on ER. )

Reason #1 that I "heart" GB....

His son, Jake, describes him the best...

" "He's a lot different than I am. He's always telling stories about monkeys and toads and rockets. I can never understand what he's talking about."

Reason #2....Gary says crazy stuff like this....

"Bird season is over, butthorn.

"Uh, I feel Like a virgin on prom night."

About his recovery from a motorcycle accident: "One night...at [the hospital], I was sitting in bed...and saw the Grim Reaper standing in the corner. He was seven feet tall, with a brown robe. He pointed to me and said, 'Relax, it's not your time to go. You have been given gifts. These gifts are ready to be received by mankind. So get on your feet and improve.' Then he laughed, spun his scythe and left. I wasn't asleep and I hadn't been for days. Whether this was a premonition or an angel in disguise, I don't know. But it was a positive reinforcement to stay on the road to recovery, which I've done."

"Drinking your own blood is the paradigm of recycling. "

"Your imagination is the hood ornament on your car of creativity."

"Friends are just enemies in reverse. "

" Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives."

Advice on dating from GB....."Ask her if she's ever played "Name that Smell."

Reason #3

He freaked out Jennifer Gardner by kissing her unexpectedly on the neck on the Oscar's red carpet. LOVED IT!!!!

Ok...so, he has big, gigantic, scary teeth......

and, maybe, he did get his brain knocked around a little in his accident.

I still love Gary Busey!!!

I just know in my heart that GB would welcome stalkers unlike that smug Clooney who<strike> had me</strike> has fans arrested for just wanting an autograph.

Ok...<strike>I was </strike>

so, a fan might have set up a 12 foot ladder outside of his bedroom window. He should have been flattered instead of calling the police on

<strike>me</strike> an anonymous female fan.

So, from now on, when asked who I find to be the most interesting, charming person in Hollywood, I'll shout out....."GARY BUSEY!"

It is a fairly well-known fact that all celebrities will be cast into the flames of eternal damnation when they die. As a bouncer to the 7th Circle of Hades, I have my work cut out for me--deciding who gets through the gates and who does not can be a tough call at times. To make my job easier, I created a blog. Now, for the first time in history, readers can help determine which celebrities are worthy of entrance into the 7th Circle.

(Peter Berg, USA 2007)
