OMG! If I walked by this video installation, I would be playing with it for hours. It effin rocks! Talk about bringing the story of Adobe to life.

Don't get me wrong. Microsites and rich-media banners have their place. But I'm not exactly sure why a lot of ideas stops there. For some reason, many people think interactive and the web are synonyms. But really, when you look closely, interactive has the word interact in it. People can interact with installations. Hell, people will pretty much interact with anything that's cool. Take street dancers. If they're good, you'll stop and watch. So how come advertisers aren't pushing ideas farther and making them really interactive?

The memory machine project draws its inspiration from the book “The Invention of Morel”,

The memory machine project draws its inspiration from the book "The Invention of Morel", written by the Argentinean writer Adolfo Bioy Casares. Other art works in sculpture, dance and puppet theater are also inspired by Bioy Casares' story.

Dance piece with scenography by danish artist B.v.H.H.

Sculpture/installation by Carlos Boccardo.

Marionnete play by Argentinean theater company Eva Halac Teatro.

Interactive installation by Fabian Wagmister.

This works are very relevant to the project since each one of them takes Morel's story to a new, different context that moves away from the literary.

'20 Alternative Lights' is a DIY lighting project for small concert. The first version is installed at Ticket to 90's Party “Make Me Nuts#3”, Hippie de Bar, Kaw Sarn Rd. on March 26, 2008. I've designed the custom application built by Max/MSP and PIC Microcontroller circuit in order to control 20 fluorescents individually.

All lights are responding extremely fast. I am so happy with silaresearch's solid state relay and Panasonic e-saving set.

Digitalized the Light is an interactive installaion designed for Plastictroops's Digitalized the Party at Club 808, RCA on Feb. 16, 2008. Inspired by ASCII graphic and The Matrix movie, I create green texts on the openGL matrix that respond to the light and sound of the event. In the dark condition, the screen can be easily responding to mobile devices and/or any illuminational objects.

Passion Skyline is an interactive installation for Tiger Translate Entrance hallway. The concept is to create a playful interactive hallway before entering the event. The computer vision system by custom application tracks the visitors' shadow and triggers the visual on the wall accordingly. The various contents including; musical instruments, random numbers, welcome text, show's schedule, equallizer, Tiger's bottle timeline are randomly played due to the passenger's traffic.

Je-Sus ... what possibilities this mind-blowing tech invokes! At the Amsterdam Film Experience, I was lucky enough to run into Ramon Shreuder, one of the crazed catz behind a break-through interactive audio/visual interface :: we talked of the future of VJ appz, club-installations, etc. and I was blessed with opportunity of sampling his I_AM interface in person. I must've been in front of this thing for a good three hours over the course of the weekend... These sorts of technologies turn me on in a way that mere human language fails to express, the future of music/video lies in these cross-sensorial synaesthetic approaches!

---Interaction Story---

----Technical Issue---

I set of on another journey into the world of research today and I have to say its a pleasant ride that I'm surprisingly enjoying! Today I came upon Camille Utterback, whom I believe Ant introduced us to during the first session we had on this project. She has an extensive catalog of work which is really quite diverse considering her work is based in interactive installations. I also like how she also dabbles in the commercial possibilities for interactive installations. I especially like her piece called "Untitled 5", the fact that its based on the users movement and position in a given space really appeals to me.

The short version: If you've never heard Vic Muniz talk about his art, you should watch this.

The way longer version:

I've been obsessed with clouds lately. I'm working up new permutations of the cloud workshop, and I recently flew through some incredible specimens on my way from Albuquerque to Chicago. (Chicago to Baltimore? Nothing but homogeneous haze.)

I was in NM for some teacher-type training, and met a slew of interesting and inspirational people, including Bruce, the guy who puts the coeur in Coeur D'Alene. Along with his box of Merlot, Bruce shared with me these videos of really smart people talking. The first one he pulled up was this guy.
Vic Muniz's Pictures of Cotton were one of the main inspirations for my cloud assembly line. In fact, his face is one of the 52 cloud images I painted on the sculpture. I attended a class he taught at the International Center of Photography, and enjoyed a couple of conversations with him as we both rode the train back to Brooklyn.

Muniz's teaching is as brilliant and funny as his art, and along with ripping off his cloud idea, I regularly retell a couple of his stories to my own students. It turns out he stole the cloud idea from a guy named Stieglitz, so I guess I'm in good company.

I assembled this sculpture after school and tested it with the help of a few cool students. It's a long worktable where you can make your own clouds out of cotton and lint—kind of a cross between an omelet bar and a sweatshop. I had to photograph it that day to enter it in this year's Sondheim prize competition at the BMA. I didn't make the cut, but now I've got a six-foot-long, hand-painted cage that will shoot handmade clouds up into the air. You can see more photos of the cloud workshop here. I'm hoping to have another cloud-making party before I'm forced to disassemble this and sweep up.

I'm invited as one of two guest artists for 'Pause and Play Exhibition at The Queen's Gallery (Jan 3 - Feb 12). In collaboration with Mr. Jame (sound artist from15 scenery, smallroom) and Thanaraj Vangsiripaisal (key artist of the event), I create an interactive art installation for the set 3.

Concept:

The harmonious differences between two cultures through photographs and sounds are represented though new media that interact with relationship between audience and the particular work section following concept "Ambiguity" of the title Pause & Play and Play and Pause.

Play, in the artist's point of view, is the reactions of the audience with the response to the work. To play, is able to happen to the player and the work itself also player to player as well as player to audiences. Which artists realize these interactions and reactions from the participants are the component of the section.

Pause, is artistically interpreted to the silence and still of the audiences in order to play the computer programming analyzed identity sounds and photographs which presents difference photographs and sounds according to the certain event.

An ambiguity of relationship of Pause & Play create ability to play with work piece.

I also help Koichi to make this device. Koichi modifies the typical windchime as switches in order to trigger synthesized sounds and split them to speakers that differently located inside the gallery hall.

About exhibition:

In celebration of 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan and to further support and broaden this relationship, an exhibition called ‘Pause & Play’ which utilizes an artist from both countries. Thai photographer, Mr. Thanaraj Vangsiripaisal and Japanese sound designer, Mr. Koichi Shimizu will reflect the vision and identity of each other work through their respective mediums.

I'm invited as the main artist (interactive art installation) for Make Me Nuts "The Backyard Party#2". I create a couple of interactive pieces for the event. (all bands--sqweez animal, the richman toy, superbaker--performing in this event are my favorite)

The first piece called "The Flow". I use a webcam to capture the participants' shadows and manipulate them as a responsive wallpaper. The color values of the manipulated moving images also respond to the surrounded sounds of the event.

The second piece called "Follows". I transform a projection screen as a big canvas. The participant can paint the colorful image by moving him/herself in front of the screen. The computer vision system tracks the center of movement and continuously draw the particle dots (the scale and color also respond to the existing environments such as environmental sounds, speed).

I also create the final interface for testing system of the interactive walkway for the Tiger Translate event in following month. The visual content on the screen responds passively to anyone who walks pass the invisible spot. For this version, I collect some keywords from the poster and randomly generate them to a new sentence.
