"We talked about their possible testimony. They stressed that the Serbs did not commit war crimes against the Muslim civilians when they were passing through several dozen of their villages [in Srebrenica municipality] the Dutch soldiers were securing. They came over at their own expense and said they will testify and invite more of their fellow soldiers to testify too. They left Belgrade on Thursday," Ivanisevic said.

To see how relevant their testimonies would be, Ivanisevic talked to each Dutch soldier who came to Belgrade, individually, about when and where he was and what was he doing. Asked by Vecernje Novosti why haven't they showed up before to say what really happened in Srebrenica, Ivanisevic said he didn't pose that question, but added that Dutch soldiers complained there is a complete repression against them in Holland that had lasted for the past 10 years because they are blamed for allegedly "failing to protect Srebrenica".

"Perhaps the things are finally getting ripe now", Ivanisevic said. "They told me they came here in apprehension and worried, because they expected to be hated in Serbia just like back home. They said in Srebrenica at the time they had to protect themselves from the Muslims, rather than protect Muslims from the Serbs. Serb Army, according to them, was helping the Muslim women and their children, bringing them food and water", Ivanisevic conveyed the conversation he had with Dutch soldiers who were stationed in Srebrenica in 1995.

Although polygamy is banned in the Netherlands, the marriages of Muslims who have several wives are recognised by Dutch authorities.

We are used to hearing protests at the overweening power of international organisations such as the International Monetary Fund and, of course, the European Union. These institutions are accused of arrogance, of having their own institutional agenda, or of being controlled behind the scenes by powerful states.

But when it comes to international criminal tribunals, by contrast, people assume that they must, by definition, be moral and objective.

Yet international tribunals can abuse their power just as easily as national ones. In fact, the likelihood of abuse is greater since international institutions are never elected: they are not controlled by any legislature and they take decisions without ever having to bear political responsibility for the consequences.

This is the very definition of unaccountable power.

As such, it is the antithesis of the justice which all defendants are entitled to expect, whatever the charges against them.

The adverts follow calls by a group calling itself The Message of Allah Unites Us, for a boycott of KLM, Philips, Friso and Milupa (baby foods). Until now, the organisation had only urged a boycott of Danish products in connection with the publication of anti-Islamic cartoons.

The organisation has printed millions of copies of a new poster calling on Jordanians not to buy Dutch and Danish goods.

KLM and Philips are actively being boycotted, the Volkskrant says. Last week, all travel organisations in the country were asked to refrain from doing business with KLM, the committee’s chairman Zakaria Sheikh tells the paper.

The Zwanenberg Food Group says in its advert that it ‘rejects the opinions and statements’ made in Wilders’ film, in which he ‘likens Islam to violence’. ‘We strongly condemn these statements about Islam which we think have no other purpose other than to hurt [Muslims].’

Friesland Foods issued a similar statement, the papers say.

Mon de to nævnte firmaer sælger nogen produkter i Danmark? Så var det på tide at boykotte dem.

Som vi skrev om forleden har den populære, tjekkiske præsident, Vaclav Klaus, allerede kaldt Forfatningstraktaten Lissabontraktaten for død. Og samme brave nations premierminister, Mirek Topolanek, vil ikke vædde så meget som 100 tjekkede kroner på at hans land vil tilslutte sig. Først skal den tjekkiske forfatningsdomstol nemlig afgøre om bemeldte bogstavsuppe af et makværk overhovedet er lovlig i henhold til landets forfatning.

Nu hvor Gordon Brown - en klon af Neville Chamberlain - har forsikret alle de andre "wise guys" om at Det Forenede Kongerige overgiver sig, er den britiske højesteret pludselig vågnet op og vil i næste uge afsige kendelse i en sag hvor man har indstævnet den kære leder for løftebrud. Hans parti - de lokale suicidalakrobater - har nemlig tidligere lovet en folkeafstemning om traktaten, hvad end man nu finder på at kalde den. Højesteret er derfor "noget pikeret" over, at Mr. Brown har solgt skindet før bjørnen er skudt.

Den slags finurligheder kommer vi jo let og elefant uden om i Mohammedanmark, hvor Anders Fup blot bestiller et af sine talløse smagsdommerpaneler til at erklære, at der ikke er noget at komme efter.

Summa summarum: Frankrig, Holland og Irland har sagt - nej, råbt - NON, NEE og NO. Tjekkiet og England tvivler på at svindelnummeret kan gennemføres. Seks andre lande har endnu ikke ratificeret. Det lader til, at vor egen Store Rorgænger - som måske har lært et søkort at forstå, men ikke skib at føre - må se sin titel som Capo di tutti Capi fortone sig i tågerne. Måske burde han blive ved sin læst, gå i land og søge ansættelse ved Samarbejds-Politiken som clairvoyant filmanmelder?

The campaign also launched a massive new project entitled "Live without It" calling for a boycott of Danish and Dutch products.

Al Sheikh has called upon Dutch and Danish companies to comply with the conditions of the boycott which allows for the lifting of the boycott against a company if that particular company officially condemns the insults and declares solidarity with the Messenger of Allah Unites Us Campaign's in its efforts to charge the Dutch MP and the Danish newspapers publishing the cartoons and pass an international law criminalizing the demonization of Islam and the Prophet Mohammed.

De Volkskrant published the article yesterday under the fictitious name of Samira al-Onal. The writer is a highly-educated Dutch Muslim woman, according to the newspaper. "As an exception, the editorial staff sometimes backs publication of an article under a pseudonym, due to the author's fear of reprisals." De Volkskrant is publishing a longer article by her today.

GVB is axing the event to please Muslims, newspaper de Telegraaf suggested yesterday.

According to Verdonk, Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin informed her by letter last Tuesday that her bodyguards would be withdrawn on 4 June. She is only still being 'escorted.' This means that instead of permanent bodyguards, she will only have a car behind her following at a distance.

Verdonk said yesterday in De Telegraaf newspaper: "Muslim radicals and leftwing extremists know one thing: If I come to power, then I will tackle them." (...) "I do not feel safe." (...) "You do not have to google for long to come across very ugly things about me!"

I am very honoured indeed to have been invited by the Danish Free Press Society to speak in the Danish Parliament, the heart of Danish democracy. My special thanks go to Lars Hedegaard and Katrine Winkel Holm, who were so kind to invite me here.

As you may know, the title of my short film about the Koran and Islam is Fitna . Fitna is an Arabic word with many meanings. The most common translation is ‘ordeal' or ‘trial'. The name Fitna symbolises my view that Islam is the ordeal with which the free West is currently confronted. Are we prepared to defend our achievements, such as the equality of men and women, of heterosexuals and homosexuals as well as the separation of Church and State? I would like to throw some light today on the question of whether the Netherlands and Europe will be able to face that ordeal and stand the test. I will also address the question of why I made Fitna , and relate to you some of the reactions to my film as well as some of my personal circumstances. Lastly, I will offer you some thoughts on the future of freedom and democracy in Europe.

Let me first explain to you why I made Fitna.

A district court in Rotterdam acquitted the man, Jonas Staal, in August 2007. Like the lower court, the appeal court ruled yesterday that there was insufficient evidence of a threat. The altars did not involve "any announcement of an anticipated death of Wilders nor a reference to the way in which this would happen", the judges stated.

The government allowed a painting to be removed from a town hall because two women showed their breasts in it, tried to ban Wilders' anti-Islam film Fitna and is now encouraging the Amsterdam police to learn the Koran, according to Rutte.

Work of photographer Sooreh Hera is also welcome in the VVD's room in the Lower House. She is not however taking up the invitation. "I consider it a good stunt by the VVD but I do not want to link myself with a political party that way," said the artist in De Pers newspaper.

Hera made photos of two homosexual men wearing masks of the Prophet Mohammed and a nephew.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Guusje ter Horst has shrugged her shoulders on Lower House criticism of the 'Koran subsidy' for Amsterdam police officers. They are given a 50 percent discount if they buy writer Kader Abdollah's translation of the holy book of Islam. The money comes from Ter Horst's budget, she confirmed in the House.

A crisis broke out when a Dutch man seated next to a headscarf-wearing Turkish woman on an airplane was removed from his seat, Turkish news channel NTV reported yesterday. The crisis occurred aboard a Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) plane flying from the Dutch capital Amsterdam to Istanbul. After takeoff, the woman asked that the man seated next to her be moved to another seat, arguing that it would be a sin under Islam for her to be sitting next to a man who is not her relative. As a result, the man, Lex van Drooge, who is a member of the Amsterdam Municipal Council for the Dutch governing party, the Christian Democratic Appeal, or CDA, was removed from the seat. Upon landing, van Drooge complained about the situation. In a statement to the press, van Drooge said the airline did not seem to know how to deal with this kind of situation. The headline about the incident in the Dutch press read, "KLM submitted to Islam." The airline company has started an investigation into the behavior of the cabin crew and issued a statement about the incident. The statement said such a practice is unacceptable, adding that the reason the male passenger was removed from his seat instead of the female passenger remains unclear.

Af en os ubegribelig grund har "Samarbejds-Politiken" - der ellers altid er på pletten, når slibrige slige emner er på lagenet tapetet - forsømt at bringe denne politisk korrekte forbrugeroplysning:

Jannes Mulder, former internist and oncologist, writing in the Dutch medical journal Medisch Contact, says that girls are still being circumcised, even though the procedure is banned. The Dutch Council for Public Health estimates that at least 50 girls are circumcised every year, mostly in the Somali community. In his article, 'A drop of blood', Mulder suggests that since banning the procedure doesn't work, a symbolic form of the practice - pricking the clitorial hood - should be allowed.  This would prevent more serious forms of female genital mutilation, and allow medical oversight of the procedure. His idea was immediately dismissed by Monica Van Berkum, head of Pharos, an information center about preventing and dealing with female circumcision.  Van Berkum says that no compromise should be made regarding the integrity of a girl's body.  Even a little prick give a completely wrong message, as if that's needed to make a girl fit.
