By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Kares]Michael Kares

Creativity, ingenuity, innovation and aesthetics

So far, owners of watches with integrated watch strap attachment were restricted to original watch straps. HIRSCH Leonardo, however, combines aesthetics and design with innovative technology. Now it is up to the customer to make the choice – and decide for the future.

Customers will be able to attach any watch strap from the HIRSCH Leonardo Collection to the watch cases of the most renowned watches from the Luxury, Sports and Fashion segments.

The Leonardo watch strap connects to the noble case of the watch as if custom-made for it.

The prestigious character of exclusive watches is enhanced even further by the perfect processing, the sporty elegance of design and the innovative technology of Leonardo watch straps.

The most striking design elements that complement any sporty chronograph perfectly are the square tip and the wide loop. They underline the modern and sporty character of the Leonardo straps and give them a sturdy look. The loop also secures the strap. Leonardo is ahead of its times.

HIRSCH turns visions into reality and combines sporty elegance and aesthetics of this unique watch strap with the revolutionary innovation of the variable, integrated strap attachment. That is watch strap culture at its best.

The Difference

The Leonardo watch strap differs from conventional watch straps in that it combines with the watch case as if specially made for it.

This integration between watch strap and watch creates a single work of art, a beautifully rounded unit that fits closely around the wrist – like a bracelet – and thus enhances the aesthetic character of the watch.

Also impressive is the power of the watch strap, from the attachment to the centre, clearly emphasising its robust and sporty character.

Aesthetics

Aesthetic appearance of the watch is enhanced; the value of the watch is clearly enhanced by the integrated attachment.

Functionality

Compatible with HIRSCH technology; because of the different insertion possibilities, the Leonardo watch strap is compatible with most watch cases with a curved attachment.

Target group focussing

Adaptability to watch brands; the design and choice of material of the HIRSCH Leonardo Collection make it suitable for the cases of the best known brands of luxury, sport and fashion watches.

Michael Kares owns and operates Watchband.biz, a watch strap site for collectors and watch enthusiasts, showcasing an extensive selection of HIRSCH watch straps. http://www.watchband.biz/

Hey everyone:)

So, who else absolutely loved the movie "Speed Racer?" I was in a great state of mind yesterday when I went to see it. This is how you make a movie absolutely incredible. You go into a really good movie expecting it to be enjoyable and then when you watch it you get blown away, because it wasn't only enjoyable, it was an incredible feat for the mind. It was moving, visually stunning, and just fun on top of it.

My favorite part about the movie was that the editing was done just like one thinks. You know how your mind fires off and you see all sorts of images in a weird sequence? Well, just watch the first part of the movie and you will see a good example. There are all different images that make up what the characters are thinking. It works though. Usually, a filmmaker would want to be careful using that technique just because the not so artistic might not understand what is going on and get confused. Never a good thing, but I didn't hear the audience getting confused. It was great.

We can't go anywhere without hearing about how visually stunning it was. What an incredible art direction! It reminded me of all those driving video games I used to play when I was a kid and I got to go on all these weird tracks. I was getting a little whoosy in a few spots, but nothing I couldn't handle. If you have ever seen any part of the television series then you know that the color scheming on it was absolutely perfect.

The acting was good for what they were looking for. Hirsch played Speed Racer perfectly. He looked the part and did a good job acting it. John Goodman looks and acts exactly like Pops so that is a given there. Susan Surandon did a great job as Mom. The little brother was perfect. He looked exactly like John Goodman too. Then there was Christina Ricci as Trixie. She did a really good job. Matthew Fox was in it and did an absolutely terrific job, as well as Eddie Izzard. You have to give them all brownie points, because they had to shoot this movie almost purely on green screen. That's a challenging thing to do. You try acting like something is there when it is not.....quite tricky.

This movie was the most surprising movie of the year. I was really blown away. Well worth a watch, especially if you have seen part or all of the television cartoon. I want to own this movie and if you guys know me at all that is a huge victory to end up in my DVD collection.

Alright, I'm off to make my terrific day!

Have a great one:)

On our last day in New Orleans we joined Alan Hirsch and the staff of Journey Christian Church for b

On our last day in New Orleans we joined Alan Hirsch and the staff of Journey Christian Church for breakfast at a small french restaurant. The course of our conversation was focused upon the idea of missional engagement and church structure. He encouraged both Journey and the rest of us to focus first upon mission and let that guide the development of structure and organization. Rather than letting our organizations determine the mission and focus of the church Hirsch emphasizes that the mission should determine the structure, course and look of the church.

Traditional churches rely heavily upon their buildings. Churches without buildings, like Wheatland, often want to be in buildings and sometimes feel a sense of inadequacy or illegitimacy until they have a place to call their own. Unfortunately, churches end up abandoning what some have described as third places because they own and operate their own facilities. A building is not an end unto itself and every church which owns a building would agree. However, indirectly and unintentionally the building (tail) wags the church (dog). The resources required for building ownership, in both human and financial capital, demand attention and focus that can, and often does, inhibit missional engagement.

Hirsch encourages the idea of small missional communities meeting in third places such as coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. A third place is a place of social interaction where relationships can develop and meaningful conversation entered with little risk. Having such gatherings drives missional minded people to think long and hard about the deepest necessities required for Christian community. Taking the party, of which we are a part, into the house of people who are outside of the church is not a new gimmick but a reclaimed expression of the early church.* In fact, Jesus' incarnation is the greatest expression of missional endeavor. Jesus brought God's presence (the "party") into the house (the lives of his hearers) of those who were far from participating in the life of God.

I am encouraged that Wheatland has done some of this. We often invades third places with missional purpose. Paul Riley, with some help from Brad Moser, helped launch our theology pub that meets at River City Brewery. For over a year relationships have been formed and blessing exchanged with some of the employees. This is an example of the party moving from one house into another. It brings to mind Eugene Peterson's translation of John 1:14:

The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.

Here is a challenge I take from Hirsch and from much of the "missional" reading and reflecting I have done over the last few years. The structures of the church, while important, must remain subservient to the mission of the church. Hirsch makes the point this way in The Forgotten Ways:

Christology determines missiology which determines ecclesiology.

While it seems so simple and so obvious I, along with many others, have made the mistake of shaping the church around patterns and models that seem familiar to me rather than allowing my understanding and commitment to Christ and his practices to establish (or re-establish) what the purpose or mission of the church is. It is important for us to always go back to the basic principles of the missio Dei. God has sent his Son, in a missionary capacity, to redeem, renew and recreate the world. Inhabiting third places, finding ways to bless our neighbors, and recognizing the presence of God's Kingdom in this world are important disciplines for those who want to participate in the missio Dei, God's work in the world.

The mission of God coincides with the Kingdom of God. Let's think about how we can participate in God's Kingdom in small, seemingly inconsequential, ways. When we do I can't help but think we may be fulfilling what Matthew 13:33 says:

He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough."

Third places and neighborhoods, kitchens and dining room tables, breakrooms and bars, ballfields and schools are the plane on which we all find ourselves living and moving within the Kingdom.

This idea of "taking the party into their house" come from Andrew Jones and a talk he gave at Soularize many years ago. He is an uber-blogger. You can find him at: tallskinnykiwi.typepad.com

During our time with Alan Hirsch he spent a significant amount of time talking about the dangers of

During our time with Alan Hirsch he spent a significant amount of time talking about the dangers of consumerism and the evil of Santa. In fact, he tore into a Santa Claus like a pitbull. I like Santa but have to admit that Hirsch's caricature of the plump old guy giving presents to children like a drug dealer doling out crack rang uncomfortably true. I'm not ready to get rid of him but I have been forced by this Hirsch inspired discomfort to confront what I think is a real trap for me. Thoughtless consumption and consumerism and they way in which they inhibit our staying close to Jesus.

Hirsch restated this fact from The Forgotten Ways: " ... one cannot consume their way to discipleship."

This weekend our community discussed this very subject by focusing on Jesus' words in Matthew 6:24-27:

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?

I am struck by the way Jesus connects the drive to have and to consume with anxiety. There is evidently an undercurrent of anxiety among the people in Jesus' audience. From Jesus' perspective the people are suffering from a continual and unrelenting concern for possessions. These are both possessions that would protect them from the elements as well as from the dangers of society. In addition, as Jesus discusses clothes, one may detect a hint of Jesus commenting on their concern for status. All of it is driven by a deep anxiousness. It is an anxiety that has only changed by degrees from the 1st Century to the 21st.

The fact that much of the stuff Jesus' listeners are driven to possess are for the good, like food and clothing, only serves to help them give in to what has become an idol. It is an idol because it demands, and receives, the first allegiance of Jesus hearers (this is no less true for his hearers today).

So this creates an interesting dilemma. In order to be good providers, good parents and good citizens we should seek employment and compensation which will provide for our needs. The full time employee works 40 hours a week and too often many more hours than that. With such schedules, how do we keep our jobs from becoming our gods? I don't offer an easy answer to this but raise the question because in each of our circumstances we will have to resolve this for ourselves. (I think those of us in the religious business have made our jobs idols as well.) Maybe you already have? If you feel comfortable I would appreciate you sharing how you have dealt with, or are dealing with, this situation.

Just on the other side of meeting our physical needs lurks another danger. After meeting the needs of hearth and home we are all tempted to fill our empty places with the lures and empty promises of consumption and consumerism. The danger is all too real, all too insidious, and nearly imperceptible.

I touched upon this earlier but let me simply say that one definition of an idol is something around which we organize our lives. Our lives are organized around our work, our families and our avocations. When we engage in these activities apart from God and his work in the world then we should ask ourselves if they have not, in effect, replaced God. However, when we engage in these things with God in mind and his Kingdom in view then they become the means by which we participate in God's life and work in the world. Instead of idols they instead become icons, windows into God's world, and means by which we worship rightly.

Consumerism and meaningless consumption drive us in another direction entirely and I think we have to be careful as we participate in our culture that we don't become a part of the consumption trap. At its worst it is idolatry at its best it is a distraction from living in God's Kingdom. Here's Hirsch's take on the same thing:

...my warning is that if we are going to sup with the devil, we had better have a very long spoon, because we are dealing with a deeply entrenched alternative religious system to which Jesus disciples need to model an alternative reality. (The Forgotten Ways, pg. 112)

If the current story of our time is making more, spending more getting more, it is time that we begin to listen to an alternative story and, in Hirsch's words, "model an alternative reality."

The Hirsch is biodynamic and it has a screw cap, which I look for in a wine we're going to pour by the glass. The poor bartender is so busy that the screw cap is a godsend. I tasted this wine at Skurnik's East End tasting in April and remember its distinct minerality. The rosé is Cliff's suggestion.

Before jumping back on I-95 to head south and home on Sunday, we wanted to vist the old neighborhood. I know the streets by sight within about a 10 block radius of our old house, but getting there required a map. My father pulled this one out of his glove compartment. It was the map he used when working a side job as an exterminator in the mid-70's. (I remember him having this job - he had t-shirts that said BUG OUT! on the front). Anyway, the map still has his marks on it for the location of his customers. What I love most about it though, is that it is from 1976.

Being the bicentennial, 1976 was a BIG year in Philadelphia. I remember drawing a picture of Ben Franklin eating Frosted Flakes for a contest sponsored by Kellogs. I remember going downtown for the Bicentennial Celebration and the throngs of people everywhere. The illustrations on the map clearly depict images that I saw as iconic that year.

On our trip this weekend, we went by the old house and oddly enough, it is for sale. Wouldn't that be nice to have a place to stay while in Philly doing genealogical research?

While reading E. D. Hirsch’s book Cultural Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know, I came

While reading E. D. Hirsch's book Cultural Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know, I came across this quote by Ernest Gellner from Nations and Nationalism:

The employability, dignity, security, and self-respect of individuals, typically, and for the majority of men now hinges on their education... A man's education is by far his most precious investment, and in effect confers his identity on him. Modern man is not loyal to monarch, or a land, or a faith, whatever he may say, but to a culture... [This] school-transmitted culture, not a folk-transmitted one, alone confers usability and dignity and self-respect on industrial man.

Certainly there is no better investment one could make than to become widely educated in a variety of fields of study. This is especially true considering that the only possession that will continue with us to the next life will be our minds and education.

From a religious standpoint, we are counseled to study the scriptures and the teachings of the prophets and leaders to gain our own self-reliance regarding spiritual matters. When questions and difficult times arise in our lives, we are strengthened when we have spiritual knowledge and understanding that comes from study - personal, family, in church meetings, etc.

Lastly, our education - both religious or secular - doesn't end when we receive our diploma. Rather, every day is an opportunity to broaden our perspective and appreciation for our world. This education can take the form of understanding world events, reading books and websites, engaging in dialogue, and other formal and informal settings.

Ο Roger "Voice of London" Allam από φανατισμένος αντιαμερικάνος τηλεπαρουσιαστής γίνεται διεφθαρμένος καπιταλιστής και είναι εξ'ίσου καλός κακός, ο John Goodman ως Pops Racer (ναι, αυτό είναι το όνομά του) κάνει αισθητή την ογκώδη παρουσία του σε όποια σκηνή κι αν εμφανίζεται, και η Christina "too hot for a family movie" Ricci είναι πανέμορφη και...

Alexander Hirsch spricht in seiner Predigt vom 4.

A 91 page report prepared for the US Department of Energy (March 2005):
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The peakin

A 91 page report prepared for the US Department of Energy (March 2005):

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The peaking of world oil production presents the U.S. and the world with an
unprecedented risk management problem. As peaking is approached, liquid fuel
prices and price volatility will increase dramatically, and, without timely mitigation,
the economic, social, and political costs will be unprecedented. Viable mitigation
options exist on both the supply and demand sides, but to have substantial
impact, they must be initiated more than a decade in advance of peaking.

Dealing with world oil production peaking will be extremely complex, involve
literally trillions of dollars and require many years of intense effort. To explore
these complexities, three alternative mitigation scenarios were analyzed:

• Scenario I assumed that action is not initiated until peaking occurs.
• Scenario II assumed that action is initiated 10 years before peaking.
• Scenario III assumed action is initiated 20 years before peaking.

Important observations and conclusions from this study are as follows:

1. When world oil peaking will occur is not known with certainty. A fundamental
problem in predicting oil peaking is the poor quality of and possible political
biases in world oil reserves data. Some experts believe peaking may occur soon.
This study indicates that “soon” is within 20 years.

2. The problems associated with world oil production peaking will not be
temporary, and past “energy crisis” experience will provide relatively little
guidance. The challenge of oil peaking deserves immediate, serious attention, if
risks are to be fully understood and mitigation begun on a timely basis.

3. Oil peaking will create a severe liquid fuels problem for the transportation
sector, not an “energy crisis” in the usual sense that term has been used.

4. Peaking will result in dramatically higher oil prices, which will cause protracted
economic hardship in the United States and the world. However, the problems
are not insoluble. Timely, aggressive mitigation initiatives addressing both the
supply and the demand sides of the issue will be required.

In seiner Predigt vom 27.
