DAVE MASON (Live at Perkin's Palace) when you see this DVD you willl understand what I am talking about,his unrehearsed brilliance is amazing.With his compatriot of 18 years, JIM KRUEGER who has since passed away,kicking the shit out of it right next to him on guitar...Just try and play guitar like JIM KRUEGER,and if you succeed,then give yourself a pat on the back because you are playing better than the best there is,and that is an understatement...the dvd is fantastic,and if you want you can here Dave Mason talk over the concert,he explains to you,the song and why he wrote it etc,etc.At times it is pretty funny.He gives JIM KRUEGER the ultimate salute as a vocalist/guitarist/songwiter and close friend.

Music is not the same as it was back in the old day's, when these guy's were recording,they were going into the studio with the whole band at once and as they say,would put it down,no overdubbing or anything like that,it was then and there and that was it,put it on plastic and let's get it out there NOW,and most of the time,especially with these guy's,it worked well...

Music is such a beautiful thing,and it shouldn't be dragged down by repititious crap rap...Quincy Jones was the soul man for Rap,he did rap with style,and with taste,none of this "show me your gun gangster rap crap."

I grew up with the music of the mother's of invention,the tubes,the who,the rolling stones,jefferson starship,steely dan,traffic,the fugs,america,the doobie brothers,the b52 's,devo,etc,etc...and these band's that I enjoyed and still do,are really enjoyable to listen too,because they have a story to their song's,so it gives you a start and a finish,and to me that is great.It gave me solace....which is real hard to find in a song.

I am sorry,but I have to speak up on this,because it is driving me mad,music has so much more to offer than what we are hearing these day's.We don't need stuff to sing that make's no sense other than he is a rapper that has been to jail,or once was in a gang,I mean come on,just because he/she has fucking tattoo's and is a bad ass,come on,give me a break.let's here some music that has feeling and even,let's say a storyline to it,that might even have an ending to it...how MAD would that be..

Thrash shredder Dan Spitz (above) recently announced his new musical plans at the Christian music festival, Cornerstone.

Spitz says on the Roadrunner blabbermouth site:

"This was the event I chose to announce what had been so secretly quiet since my departure from Anthrax. The new music and the people who have been quietly recording on my creations were announced. Those in attendance got to see me speak both on the main stage, as well as a wonderful question-and-answer press conference during the day hours. I felt such a warming embrace to those who were there to listen to what God has placed upon my heart to achieve. Creating this new kind of music brought me both closer to Christ, as well as closer to so many aspects of music creation. I do feel (as I did in the past) that I have created an entirely new sound never heard by the human ear before."

'... never heard by the human ear before.' That will be hard to do, my friend. Especially since you have to sound like Sigur Ros to sound original nowadays. Unless Spitz is doing something outside the thrash genre that has made him a metal household name.

If he's talking about thrash christian metal.. well, that's been done since the early 80s. And Powerline was covering that stuff (with a column called Metal Missionaries) when it was a thing for your average metalhead to make fun of. Christianity in metal is nothing new at all.

Dan Spitz does have some powerful musicians contribute to his band: Peter Baltes from Accept. Matt Thompson from King Diamond. (Are these guys born-again, too?) Anthrax and Accept with some King Diamond music... that's a good mix. I may like it.

Commento & Voto : Altro gruppo Italiano, questa volta però orientato al NuMetal. Nobody Excluded non è un cattivo album, ma non è ne carne ne pesce ovvero non ha un identita propria, prende ispirazione da più gruppi differenti e cerca di amalgamare il tutto cercando di essere originale (riuscendoci in parte). La voce di Masha è davvero particolare (anche se in alcune canzoni fa il verso alla cantante dei Guano Apes) unita alle ottime doti musicali del gruppo, non possono che far piacere all'orgoglio Italico. In "Nobody Excluded" spiccano "Your Rain" una bella ballata rock, "kill me" aggressiva e potente e "My Prophecy" con una ritmica accattivante. In conclusione un album decisamente sopra la sufficienza, ma ancora "acerbo" in quanto a personalità.

A: Contrary to popular belief, Bodom isn't actually a lake, but a region. The 'real' name for Lake Bodom ('Bodominjärvi' in Finnish) would actually be Lake of Bodom. Q: What is the Hate Crew?

A: The Hate Crew is basically the 5 Children Of Bodom members + some of the members of their crew, like the producer Anssi Kippo, tour manager Fleisch, their friends.. The Children Of Bodom Hate Crew has always been the "gang" side of the whole band. The public get to know about the "Hate Crew" only when the Hate Crew Deathroll album came out, but the truth is that the term has been around for a longer while. You can read "COBHC" already in the Hatebreeder booklet and the text "Children Of Bodom Hate Crew" appeared in the Hate Crew T-Shirt which came out in 2001.

-Recorded in Janne's own Beyond Abilities studio, released on "BESTBREEDER from 1997 to 2000" Japanese Best Of album and later on various releases. Clean vocals.

Bed Of Nails (Alice Cooper cover / Trash album) 2004
-After the first Alice Cooper cover song (The Man Behind The Mask) which the band recorded in 2002 during the Hate Crew Deathroll studio sessions wasn't good enough for the band, they decided to cover another song by the shock rocker. The version of Bed Of Nails pleased the whole band. Was released on the Trashed, Lost & Strungout EP and the Hellhounds On My Trail EP.

She Is Beautiful (Andrew W.K. cover / I Get Wet album) 2004
-Recorded in spring 2004 for the Trashed, Lost & Strungout EP with the Alice Cooper song. Alexi first had to convince some of the other members to cover this song. Alexi already played that song live with Andrew W. K. on the USA tour in spring 2004. Andrew is a huge fan of COB's music by the way.

Oops!... I Did It Again (Britney Spears cover / Oops I Did It Again album) 2005
-This cover song shocked many COB fans and this was exactly what the band wanted. Janne got the idea for it when Britney Spears was played in the tourbus and he suggested the others to record a song of her just for fun. Femals vocals performed by Jonna Kosonen. Released on the In Your Face single and on the Japanese edition of Are You Dead Yet?.

Talk Dirty To Me (Poison cover / Look What the Cat Dragged In album) 2005
-Unspectacular cover song which pays tribute to the Poser/Glam Rock bands of the 80s which made Alexi a Metal fan. The solo in this song was played by Roope. Released on the Japanese edition of Are You Dead Yet?.

Ghost Riders In The Sky (Stan Jones cover) 2008
-Pretty suprising choice for a cover song but it works very well. Was released on a lot of Blooddrunk versions.

Lookin' Out My Back Door (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover / Cosmo's Factory album) 2008
-Short but good cover with Banjo and a lot of fun. The original song can be heard in the movie The Big Lebowski and since it's one of Alexi's and Janne's favourite movies, this choice doesn't surprise. Was released on the Blooddrunk single.

-Again a song from The Big Lebowski. Alexi recorded the vocals one morning when he had a really hardcore hangover but he did a good job nonetheless. Released on the Japanese version of Blooddrunk and the Hellhounds On My Trail EP.

Q: How to pronounce Bodom?

A: The lake was originally named by the Swedish ("Bodom-träsk") when they ruled over Finland years ago. The Swedish pronounce Bodom like "Boo-dom" (American pronunciation) and the Finnish way to pronounce it is "bottom" (American pronunciation again). BUT the thing is that since it was named by the Swedish, the somewhat official way to pronounce it here is indeed Boo-dom but some Finns tend to use "bottom" anyway. To hear a robotic pronunciation, go to http://www.mikropuhe.com/demo.asp, write "buudom" (=Boo-dom) or "Bodom" (=bottom) in the empty field and hit "Kuuntele puhe".

Q: How come there are lyrics for only a few songs in the booklets?

A: Alexi never wanted to concentrate much on writing lyrics and he thinks that some of the lyrics aren't good enough to be published. However, Alexi wants to print lyrics for a couple of songs to give the fans an idea what the lyrics on each album are about.

Q: Why the band released a Japan only compilation?

A: Keep in mind, that bands never release anything, record labels do. The record deal between Toy's Factory and COB was about to expire and Toy's Factory decided to get everything out of the deal they could by putting out a compilation. The band isn't happy with the songs chosen for it as they didn't get to decide them.

Q: Are there different booklets of the albums in different releases?

A: They're mostly the same but there is a big difference in the Spinefarm version and Nuclear Blast version of Something Wild. The booklet of the Spinefarm version is white inside and has a map (more like a simple drawing) of lake Bodom and a different thanks list and member pictures. The Nuclear Blast booklet is red illustrated with the ground of the cover and the hand of the Reaper and a band picture. Both only contain lyrics for Touch Like Angel Of Death.

Q: Does the Reaper have a name?

After many years the band unofficially gave him the name "Roy". It's not known why and it's more or less an inside joke which shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Alexi is aware of the fact that many fans want to hear much older stuff - that's what he also experiences when he goes to see bands - and he tries to fit as much old songs to the setlists as possible.

Q: Why does Alexi wear eyeliner make-up and paint his fingernails?

A: Alexi grew up with glam rock, it's just his thing! His sister was into bands like Poison, Skid Row and Mötley Crüe, back in 80s everyone wore make-up!

Judas Priest es un importantísimo grupo británico de Heavy Metal y elemental para el desarrollo de éste género. Formado en 1969, todavía hoy sigue en activo (los miembros han ido cambiando conforme a los años). Ellos implantaron el metal y el cuero en la estética ‘heavy’.

Su gran ‘etapa dorada’ se sitúa en los 70 aunque uno de sus mejores álbumes fue ‘Painkiller’ (con el que volvieron a sus raíces para reconciliarse con sus fans) de 1990. ‘Painkiller’ se basaba en el ‘Speed Metal’.

La formación durante la grabación de éste álbum fue: Rod Halford (vocalista), Glenn Tipton (uno de los mejores guitarristas de todos los tiempos), K.K. Downing (guitarrista), Ian Hill (bajista), Scott Travis (bateria) y Don Aireu (teclados).

Más conocido como Guitar Hero meets Rock Band IV, Guitar Hero World Tour nos volverá a traer las guitarras a casa, aunque esta vez vendrán acompañadas por una batería y un micrófono. Además, como principal novedad frente a su competidor Rock Band, no nos llegará un año tarde incorporará un compositor de melodías... aunque no sé como se las apañarán para tantas notas con los botones de la guitarra.

El caso es que, desde Akihabara Blues, nos viene una supuesta filtración de las canciones que tendremos disponibles en este título. La verdad es que, no sólo tendrá un gran (mejor dicho, un GRAN) repertorio en cantidad, sino también en calidad, con canciones como Smells Like Teen Spirit de Nirvana, Mr. Brightside de The Killers, Man in the Box de Alice in Chains, Master of the Puppets de Metallica o, atención, ¡¡¡Purple Haze de Jimi Hendrix (que no será su única canción, pues también vendrá la mítica The Wind Cries Mary)!!! Os pondría más, pero tras el salto tenéis la lista completa, con temas de Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse...

No sé vosotros, pero a mí de repente me han entrado unas ganas locas de comprármelo... habrá que esperar la confirmación oficial (que ojalá se positiva)

Para empezar el jueves en este enlace http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/401695/0/disco/scars/broadway/ podrás escuchar integramente el nuevo disco de la banda formada por el batería y el guitarrista de System of a down.

Desde luego se notan las influencias de la banda. Un disco genial que sale oficialmente el 29 de este més de julio. Dale una escucha que merece mucho la pena.

Se terminase concertul si noi o luasem osteniti dar fericiti pe stradutele din Cotroceni, in cautarea unei beri izbavitoare. Pe langa noi zeci de alti oameni care veneau fleasca de uzi de la Metallica. Mergeam si noi pe unde puteam, mai pe trotuar, mai pe strada, deh, aglomeratie mare. Masinile se strecurau incet printre noi. Dar se trezeste un istet de taximetrist sa apese disperat claxonul de la Loganul din dotare. Oamenii i-au facut loc in sictir, dar m-am apucat la misto sa-l huidui. Atat i-a trebuit multimii: s-a starnit un Huo general! Am ras de ne-am prapadit si am zbierat in cor METALLICA! Taranul i-a dat a doua si s-a carat cu coada intre picioare. :)

Metallica: de deasupra burtii si de sub chelie

A fost si concertul Metallica. Cu bune si cu rele, un show pe care o sa-l tin minte. Dar sa detaliez.

Accesul in stadion a fost relativ OK. Cu coada dar nu foarte rau, fara control amanuntit in bagaje sau in buzunare. Pe gazon, unde aveam eu bilet, erau o multime de tejghele cu bere si suc, nu a fost nici aici cine stie ce harmalaie, poate si unde ploa in reprize si era racoare. Berea a fost tot aia de la B'estfes, adica Heineken la pahar mic, doar ca acum a fost 5 lei, ceea ce mi s-a parut mult. In fine, a trebuit sa luam cateva la bord, ca sa ne punem in forma, sa ne treaca vremea si sa-i suportam pe cei de la The Sword. Astia sunt niste americani care s-au chinuit fara succese vizibile sa faca atmosfera inainte de main event. Lumea insa a dovedit ca venise la concert pentru un singur lucru: Me-ta-li-ca!

Cantarea propriu-zisa a fost beton. Setul n-a inclus decat piese mai vechi de 1991, ceea ce a fost brici. Hetfield a fost in forma maxima, sonorizarea a fost ok, desi eu as fi vrut sa se auda nitel mai tare. Hammett nu prea s-a auzit, dar asta a fost cred o chestie aranjata, ca sa nu fie nevoit sa se chinuie cine stie ce la solouri. Care solouri au fost mai mult schitate, sau rezumate, dar ma rog, tempo-ul a fost mai ridicat decat pe albume asa ca se explica. Mi-a placut And Justice for All, care a sunat extraordinar, dar si Master of Puppets. Publicul a fost in forma, a zbierat, a cantat si s-a dezlantuit la maxim pe Enter Sandman, in lumina pirotehnicelor si reflectoarelor. Un amic care vazuse Metallica acum o saptamana in Germania spunea ca publicul neamt a fost mult mai rece si mai putin receptiv. Bisul a fost unul standard, dar a inclus la surpriza si So What, cantata super in forta, tare rau! Eu am stat pe la mijlocul terenului si am vazut foarte bine, mai ales pe ecranul mare din spatele scenei.

Nasol a fost ca pe tot parcursul gig-ului a plouat ca la balamuc. Eu m-am incins de la prima piesa, asa ca m-am dezbracat in tricou si mi-am legat bluza la mijloc, ca sa ramana uscata. La sfarsitul concertului eram leoarca de apa si transpiratie, dar mi-am scos tricoul si am pus bluza direct pe piele asa ca am scapat de vreo raceala sau pneumonie. M-am ales doar cu o durere de ceafa, evident de la headbanging.

Si aici intervine problema care mi s-a parut cam de rahat. Spectatorii erau, cum bine sesiza cineva, rockerii din anii 90, acum cu chelii, burti si ochelari. Pustimea era in minoritate, dar rar am vazut vreun pletos sa isi vanture matreata. Lumea striga, aplauda, dar cam atat. Pai bine mai rockistilor, dar nu tu un headbanging, un mosh-pit, sa nu mai zic de pogo? Pai stai asa si bati din palme ca leguma pe Harvester of Sorrow? Si te balangani de pe un picior pe altul pe Hit the Lights? Pfff, generatia metalistilor a ajuns corporatista... :D

In fine, una peste alta a fost un concert excelent. M-am bucurat ca nu ne-au bagat pe gat mizeriile compuse dupa '91, au cantat in forta, au facut si bis, a fost beton. La iesire ne-am inghesuit nitel, ne-am regrupat afara in masura in care au inceput sa mearga telefoanele (alo! Vodafone! ce faceti frate, chiar la niciun concert sa nu mearga reteaua din cauza supra aglomerarii? rusine bre!) si am plecat hotarati sa bem o bere. Frati-miu si mama au luat-o spre casa (dap, a fost si mama la concert!) iar noi golanii am zis s-o mai ardem de-o citirica. Dar carciumi, ia-le de unde nu-s! Handicapatii de patroni s-au speriat probabil ca vin pletosii satanisti si le beau berea si au tras toti obloanele. In loc sa te intampine cu halba pregatita pentru gatlejul insetat de rocker chel si burtos de 40 de ani, ei au preferat sa se pipi pe el de profit si sa inchida. Bah, mare branza, am luat-o la picior si ne-am oprit tocmai in discoteca Stuf Vama Veche. Unde am ras cateva beri pana la 2 si ceva noapte, cand ne-am urcat in taxi si ne-am tarat incet spre casele noastre. Am adormit cu capul in drum spre perna.

Da, am fost la concert. Lume puhoi. Intrarea pe gazon s-a facut printr-o poarta mica mica mica. Asta n-ar fi fost o problema daca pe acolo nu s-ar fi facut si iesirea. Anyways, scurt si la obiect ca am treaba:

n-am inteles nimic de la baietii care au cantat inainte (Teh Sword);
Ploua, ploua, ploua
Am facut un business vanzand sacii de gunoi care ne ramasesera
oamenii de la sunet si altele care au stat o ora pe scena inainte de show au cam dat-o de gard - Hammet nu s-a auzit mai deloc jumate de concert;
Trujilio arata FIX ca o primata (dar cica e basist bun)
Au cantat numai piese pre-Load ceea ce a fost super cool (vorba sor'mii - "Bine ca ne-au scutit de noutati") - nici macar "Whiskey in the jar", ceruta in genunchi de un baiat in spatele meu nu au binevoit.
...si a mai plouat un pic
Efecte speciale, petarde, ceva flacari in spate
...ploua ca-n finalu de la Matrix
final cu dulcegarii (gay) - "we love you","we'll be back", etc.

Overall mi-a placut. Basul a fost ENORM de tare (wtf ppl, chiar nu aveti nici un sunetist printre voi ?) ceea ce facea plamanii sa vibreze in tine. Si asta nu e un lucru bun.

Pe partea usor negativa... A fost primul concert la care am fost pe Cotroceni si nu pot sa zic ca e o locatie extraordinara. Din pacate tot acolo o sa fie si urmatorul concert la care ma duc (de fapt... nu chiar urmatorul ca ma mai duc si la Massive Attack inainte) - dar ce conteaza, up the Irons !!

PS: Oh yea, teh bogfarter are poze.

Later edit: ...si nu ma lasa sufletul sa nu spun de business-ul pe care l-am facut vanzand saci de gunoi cu care ne treziseram ca n-avem ce face. A fost un concert profitabil :)
