This beautiful Haruhi figure is not only pretty, it's also pretty costly- expected also from Alter. For a 1/8 figure to be at a retail price of 5800 yen is not uncommon nowadays but that price is usually reserved for more detailed figures. But compared to Kotobukiya's new 1/7 Haruhi Beach Side figure for the same retail price, I see Alter as the winner of the outcome. Kotobukiya may have won in size and the sexy changing into bikini-ness but it don't compare with Alter's amazing abilities to adapt to each character's face as you'd expect it to be in 3D form. Besides, Kotobukiya made it look so plastic-y... almost looks like a bootleg. o_o;

Wait, I may have said too much already. We won't really know the details until they're actually in our hands now, right? First, I need to get a new job and find some mone. Shipping costs are a real hassle. ;_;

...And Welcome to the Premiere of BisHarem!

I have, for far too many years been passively drooling over all those incredibly gorgeous manga characters. In my efforts to get closer to their beauty, I been toying with the idea of somehow making a so-called “Bish Harem”, where I in shameless pokemon-style “catch them all”.

This brings me to the to the mission statement of this blog: to save the world by overloading it with beautiful manga people.
Oh yeah, I am a dedicated groupie!

To begin with, I have taken the liberty of ranking Bishounens’ attractiveness. This ranking has some element of objectivity but, it is safe to assume that the criteria for the rankings to a very large extent are subjective. Having clarified that, I have only to add that the Top 100 Bishounen Chart will be revealed in reverse order!

And now on to something completely related: this blog is dedicated to (mostly shoujo and josei) manga. This blog is not a commentary of new releases: there are plenty of such blogs on the net. It is a tribute to all things in and about manga that are fascinating to me and hopefully to you.

I figure, everyone could do with a little bit of loli in their life.  Who says youth is not invigorating, energizing, revitalizing.  Spanish expeditions didn't wander the jungles and forests of North and South America in search of the fountain of youth (among other things, ha) for S&G.  Now, these posts will probably typically be further apart in the future, but as I have yet to actually write a real post on the current anime season I'm watching, this will have to hold you over until I do.  Silly graduate summer school gettin all up in my fizzace.  (That and the College World Series, playing video games, moving back to Hawaii, and trying to settle a number of financial issues [nothing serious, just a month's worth of backlog due to the vacation in California, or Kawlifourneeah])

Yeah right Dakimura

I should have guessed that it was a sheet! 2 metres by 1.4 metres? I would probably never ever be able to see a dakimura of this size. But then, the caption on the magazine was rather misleading too, they had mentioned hug, but I did not read the sheet (I mean, who would expect anything les than a dakimura if you mentioned hug?) and so, I got lured into buying this magazine which will probably be stashed away somewhere until years later, when I finally find time to actually read it.

Kissing a notepad is so wrong. I mean, you have got to be someone mental to be kissing your notepad, even if there are two 2D girls printed there.

Hug? Well, if it was a dakimura there's nothing wrong in hugging it, just like how you would hug your pillow or bolster at night even if its a 2(or rather 3)D girl printed on it.

Touch... Hm... Touching your mousepad affectionately seems stupid. I used to have dozens of mousepads at home and I use them as normal, So if I ever use the teeny weeny DC II mousepad, I wouldn't fondle with it as much as I would with my dakimura.

I just got my dakimura on Wednesday YAY

It was thanks to me and my big mouth. I had purchased the DC II Dengeki G's magazine at KKnM and was just about to leave when I suddenly blurt out to ask whether they knew where to get a dakimura in Singapore. After months of asking previously, I had already given up hope but to my surprise, they said that if I was looking for a normal dakimura, it actually is available. My heart had stopped then and there, but its beating normally right now.

Anyway, the guys at KKnM had kindly given me instructions on where to get the dakimura. My English was so poor that I couldn't understand what they were saying but fortunately Glen was around and he lead me to find it. \(^_^)/

Just bought a couple of manga

Its only A couple. Though they say that two is a couple and three is a crowd. For the last time, in all honesty this time, my money is depleting to nil and there probably will be a time when I shall stop talking about manga as I run out of money to buy them.

Most people would probably think that I am dumb, for buying these manga when I can read it online, which I do. However, in my opinion, I prefer to have the feeling of touching the books and smelling them as I read. I also support original works though these manga are not so original, not with them being translated from Japanese into Chinese and certain "obscene" scenes filled with mysterious clouds of wisps or blank out.

I hadn't planned on this. My plans for today was to go to Suntec Convention Centre and see whats on sale for the PC fair but upon arrival, the sea of people killed my enthusiasm and squeezing through clumps of people was not exactly fun. Though I probably won't complain if I am at comiket. So after, finally having a good look around, luckily I was able to peer over the heads of the other people, I left and walked with Glen to Bugis. In which I went to Kinokuniya and bought these books. One reason for my spending spree was perhaps due to the fact that Kinokuniya is having a 20% island-wide,store-wide sale for this month, stretching slightly into the next. The discount given made me feel as if I had gotten 2 books for free ^^

Now on to Code Geass~

Firstly, I know that a lot of people are probably talking about Code Geass and that today is already Saturday and the next episode will be out in 2 days time (subbed) but I just felt like writing a little about it today.

Secondly, how on Earth do you make a checkmate like that? Unless white was announcing his own checkmate which I doubted so. If white could have said check, it would be much less of a confusion for me.

My collection of chess books, well at least half of it

I used to play Chess, for the past 6 years or so. Chess was a part of my life just as anime is now but for chess, I would be reading books after books and playing out the moves. Collecting chess books was also a hobby of mine and watching Code Geass really made me feel like engaging myself in chess once again.

Actually, I had fallen asleep while typing this post and fortunately there was a saved copy so I didn't have to retype everything, which I will probably be cursing and swearing the whole way, if I did. Now back to finishing up my holidays assignment as school shall resume next week. T_T

How long will we wait for another Haruhi??? I hope Kyo Ani makes this...fast! PLUS I heard that the "2nd Season" will be cancelled and there will be a new story, still I don't know if it would be following The Disappearance of Haurhi Suzumiya... Its like more of a "Haruhi 2" than "Haruhi Suzumiya 2" get it?

I just finished watching The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. It is a very good show, an amusing one actually. The part that amused me the most is the part when she sang the song in the school festival. I found out that the song is titled, "God Knows" by Aya Hirano.

The song was nice. I easily got caught by it. Of course, I looked around for this Aya Hirano girl who sang the song and guess what? I found out that she's so beautiful...

I said to myself, "She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen".

This was what was inside. I just started watching kamen no maid guy and found it funny so I went ahead and bought the manga. Irake said that it was childish but I think its funny and thats more important. Anyway besides kamen no maid guy I also went to watch Mnemosyne, despite disliking guro... I guess this was due to influence. I found Mnemosyne quite interesting though. Oh and I also got a new bookmark. I didn't watch Nanoha strikers but I just got it as I heard this girl is GAR, whatever that means. (bookmark on the left-hand-bottom-corner, on top of my box of Haruhi figurines.

Never decreasing number of mangas left to read

This number of manga never goes down... It only increases. Since its the June holidays right now, I might take sometime to read a few so as to prevent overcrowding which would probably occur in the near future. Note the books on the top right have been read and that this is less than half of the total number of books I have and considering that there are two rows in the picture, there is actually a third row behind all this books.

These figurines are not from the Gashapon series and are far more expensive. However due to the 1 for 1 event at KKnM, I managed to get the figurines for half the normal prize. How? All thanks to Glen. He thought about a plan which I didn't even think about. I seriously fail.

Anyway the plan was that he would buy one set and get another set free. Then he sold the second set to me for half the prize which he bought it for. Its this simple! And yet, I didn't think about that hence from today onwards I think I shall engage myself in mind challenging games like Chess and Shogi to attempt to salvage my failing mind.

Oh one more thing. I forgot about the green haired girl's name yesterday

I asked Glen and he didn't know too so we concluded that background characters are not important to remember. Just recognization is enough. Though I remember her saying Nyoro~ or something like that. If I am not wrong her name is Tsuruya or something.

Y como la banda en 2ch y 4ch no pierde el tiempo ya andan buscando el nombre adecuado para esta nueva versión de haruhi ( "Haruhinov," "Haruhichov," "Haruhikov Dekovitch," y "Haruhinikov Uchūjinsky" entre otros) .

Ciertamente Haruhi tiene algo especial que hasta a la europa del este a conquistado, aunque que poca de los wafleros si se la pirateron sin pagar derechos, no mamn, esta identica...

Por otro lado ya se subió en linea un trailer para las futuras ovas que vendrán con las ediciones limitadas de los volumenes 21 y 22 del manga de school rumble el dia 17 de julio y sept respectivamente. Por cierto, aunque no es oficial, cada vez se le ve mas cerca el final al manga de school rumblee. El capítulo especial pasado (el b62 ) dejaba entre ver que seria el último, y la cadena de eventos que se estan dando sugieren un final próximo, pero bueno, ya hablaré escribiré sobre eso después, mientras aca el promo

Encontré las novelas de Haruhi en español en Baka-Tsuki. Son traducciones hechas por fans así que puede que una u otra cosita se les haya ido al pasarlas de un idioma a otro; tmb está disponible en otros idiomas.

I am so glad we have Anime. If we didn't have Anime to watch i would be so Mega Stressed now! Thanks to the adventures of Miss Haruhi Suzumiya and the hilarious screwball Luck Star I have managed to keep Stress Levels to a bare minimum. Thank you Japan for your entertainment!

I say Stress was a bare minimum as I did have a really scary nightmare the night before my 1st Exam that, well if it was anything like Closed Space in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, then everyone should be worried...So there i was standing on the bank of the River Thames in the middle of the night when suddenly people started running out of their Houses screaming and pointing to the Sky. "Look up at the Moon" someone yelled. I looked up in amazement as a tiny Planet began to appear from behind the Moon.

That was merely the beginning of the end as my crazy nightmare went from one disaster to another with Tornadoes, Tsunami's the lot... I usually have pretty amazing nightmares when i'm stressed but this just blew everything away. Then things got even stranger (eat your heart out Kyon). I found out later that day that i wasn't the only person in my House to have a nightmare concerning Alien visitors. Everyone in my House that night all had visions of Aliens!

So has anyone else out there been visited by Aliens while sleeping before an Exam? Maybe the Alien was sat in your Exam? Let me know a.s.a.p.

Haruhi Suzumiya, a first year student in high school, can be characterized as being fun, crazy, and somewhat unpredictable. In the series, she is introduced declaring her interests in aliens, espers and time travelers and does not care for 'ordinary' human beings. The last thing on her mind is a normal high school life. With a burning desire to find such phenomena in the world, she is generally unapproachable and finds ordinary people boring and uninteresting. As a result of this, many classmates choose to avoid her. She deals with her emotions by creating a parallel universe, where she releases transparent creatures which tear up the land. Espers stop these creatures by cutting and destroying them, If they are left they can ultimately destroy the outer barrier and affect the outside world. She also likes to upset Mikuru by making her wear a bunny costume.

• The ADV implosion continues... AnimeNation notes that four more titles have been discontinued: Robotech, Best Student Council, Innocent Venus and Five Centimeters per Second. Robotech is an older license, but the other three were the newest ones remaining in the ADV catalog. Five Centimeters per Second had only been out for four months...
• Mythwear officially announced that it is no longer in business. The Musicland bankruptcy and the company president's health problems can be blamed for their demise. I loved the products that they put out. I still carry an InuYasha courier bag that they produced... it shows some signs of wear, but for a four-year old bag I can hardly complain.
• Japanator reports that Sayama Forest, well known as being the birthplace of Hayao Miyazaki's Tonari no Totoro, is in danger. A group of artists and illustrators under the Totoro Forest Project are trying to raise money to save it.
• Alteil, Media Blasters adapatation of the popular Japanese online card game opened today. It looks like they've been having some server issues (I know I haven't had much luck being able to log in), but it seems like it should be fun once the opening day frenzy passes.
• ANN notes that the August issue of Newtype announces that CLAMP will provide character designs for an anime based on Natsuhiko Kyogoku's supernatural mystery novel Mōryō no Hako. I'm a big fan of CLAMP's artwork (though not always their storytelling), so I'm looking forward to this.
• Good Smile Company has officially announced a really awesome looking concert version of their Figma Yuki Nagato. I already have the school uniform version that came out this winter, but she's my favorite character in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and there's no way I can resist a version that comes with the witch costume. According to Tomopop, she'll be available for general purchase in September after making her debut at Sumer Wonder Festival.
• Speaking of Haruhi swag, Alafista is showing off some really cute cellphone charms of our favorite SOS-dan girls in costumes based on various regions of Japan. They're available at Animate stores in Japan. They are cute, but I don't think they're must-own items.
• And some non-Haruhi goodies... Alafista also posted about a rather odd-looking Rei Ayanami USB flash drive. I wouldn't really want one, but seeing it makes me think that they missed the boat. An Asuka one from the episode where she fights the angel in the volcano? That would have been perfect for the bulky design. :grin:
• Finally, in some non-anime news, Kotaku reports that there's going to be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer game for the Nintendo DS. I'm a big Buffy fan, so I'm kinda excited. I just hope it's better than the Buffy games that came out for the GBC and the PS2.

Random Question: Do you want the upcoming Haruhi Suzumiya 2 as genderbend-ed?

A 2 años de su "conclusión" todavía es cuestion de debates su posible catalogación como "obra maestra" o sobre si está realmente sobrevaluada. En lo personal creo que solo el tiempo dirá si realmente puede ser cosiderada como masterpiece . Sin embargo, nadie puede negar que la serie es divertida, inteligente y agradable a la vista, asi como tampoco negaran el impacto, positivo y/o negativo, que ha tenido en la comunidad de manga y anime...

De que impacto me refiero?....

Pues resumiendo muy a grosso modo tenemos:

un buen de videos en youtube de personas practicando el "bailecito" del ending y que, eventualmetne, lo harian en masa por las calles de akihabara, bastantes parodias interesantes de dicho baile (como esta de los gundams ). La definición de MOE en Mikuru, un fandom creciente y fiel al Haruhismo, Haruhi en pancartas de protesta en gaza y en wafles bielorusos , un juego de PSP y futuras versiones para wii y Ds así como varios doujin games (como este), la página oficial que varía con el tiempo, da pistas sobre futuras noticias relacionadas a haruhi y que tiende a "desaparecer" a veces, varios rumores (confirmados y no) sobre la nueva serie, sin fin de figuras, hartos doujins ecchi y hentai, una Aya Hirano mundialmente conocida, 9 light novels de las cuales muchas ya estan traducidas en diferentes idiomas (español incluido) por fans (en baka-tsuki), ...

...también el myspace de Kyon, la ASOS-dan y los videos de sus "aventuras" camino al lanzamiento de los dvds-r1, las lightnovels licenciadas en EUA y próximas a estar a la venta, una excelente estrategia de venta aprovechando los fansubs, blogs, "myspace"'s y el internet para promocionar la serie y los exitosos dvds-R1 (lo que es prueba de que si pueden ayudar a la "industria" utilizandolos adecuadamente) , las referencias que le sacan a ella en otras series, etc. etc. etc.

Que si fue uno de los mejores anime jamas hechos, quien sabe, pero lo cierto es que, 2 años después, el golpe que Haruhi le prendió a la comunidad friki es algo que no se habia visto desde hace mucho y de lo que todavía no se recupera :) ...

Much like the Haruhi games for the PS2 and PSP, I don't expect it to ever see stateside release. :cry:
