The Wednesday of Holy Week I was driving across town to prepare Communion for Good Friday, when I sa

The Wednesday of Holy Week I was driving across town to prepare Communion for Good Friday, when I saw a man standing at an intersection asking for money. This isn't an uncommon occurrence here in Vegas, so I keep a mug of coins by my gearshift in case I see somebody in need. I moved into the left turn-lane per my usual route, rolled down the window, and called the gentleman over. With an outstretched arm, I gave him a palm-full of change, a smile, and a, "Here you go. Happy Easter!" Then, I was more than pleasantly surprised to look-up and see the man's beaming smile and hear his heartfelt response, "Happy Easter!"

The traffic light immediately turned green, and I instinctually said goodbye and sped-up to catch my light. I felt bad just leaving, as if there was something incomplete about the whole scenario: how could I give the money and run? Was that really a loving thing to do? I decided there had to be something more. The short exchange of "Happy Easter!" had sparked a curiosity in me, and I took the first available U-turn.

Parking at the gas station on the corner, I walked out to the median-strip and expressed to the gentleman my sincere apology for having given the money and run. I told him how excited I was about Easter, and how glad I was when I heard him tell me Happy Easter, too. I asked how he would be celebrating, and he told me about how he recently found a new church where he felt comfortable attending. He told me how many people forget that Easter is about Jesus and the resurrection. Through our simple conversation, Doug and I shared the joy of Easter on a two-foot-wide median strip as cars whizzed by at 35-45 miles an hour.

I was honestly concerned about standing in the middle of the road, but I figured there are worse things to be doing when you die than talking about Jesus with the poor. (I now think it would have be morbidly and gloriously ironic to die talking about Easter and Christ's resurrection.) Then, in true Gospel fashion, Doug asked if he could pray for me. I was the one with all of the visible blessings of a job, a house, and a car. I was the one who took the time to stop and share a conversation out of the overflow of my blessings; I was the one risking life and limb and comfort-zone to stand out on the median strip; but Doug wanted to pray for me. Regardless of how awkward it felt be prayed for and hugged by a 6'3" homeless man in the middle of a busy intersection, there was no turning down such a gift. I gratefully accepted and was truly blessed.

When he had finished praying, we spoke a little longer, and he asked for a little more "help". I was hesitant to give him more money, and I expressed to him how I had just given him some money. When he asked me for food, I felt more willing to help, but I did not want to go all the way home and then come back to give him food. I was in a bit of a time crunch to get across town and prepare Communion for Friday.

When I reached the car, it hit me! I had a whole pound of grapes sitting in the back seat! I had been planning to press them and make grape juice for Friday night. I grabbed the grapes and took them back to Doug. He was shocked at how many grapes there were, and said, "These are a lot of grapes." I told him, "Eat as many of them as you want, and then share them with a friend."

As I drove away, I saw tall, lanky, gray-haired Doug standing on the sidewalk. He was holding the bag of grapes tightly to his chest with one hand, as he popped grapes into his mouth with the other. His face honestly shined in the setting sun. I couldn't help but think and pray, "Taste and know that the Lord is good," and, "Doug is eating Jesus grapes."

Hi everybody. Right now it is about 3 in the morning. I have a real-life dog at my feet, my favorite

Hi everybody. Right now it is about 3 in the morning. I have a real-life dog at my feet, my favorite sweatpants on my person and season two of the office on the television. All of these factors compel me to ask the question:

Is this heaven?

Ah, right. Thanks Kevin. Sweet tuxedo by the way. And nice work actually getting an opportunity to wear a tux once in your life post-Waterworld. I’ve never had a reality check delivered to me so fancily. Well...except for that one time at the policeman’s ball.

At any rate, it is officially Easter. I am in my sister’s basement (or so I’ve been told) along with my mom who is snoring on the couch. Our roles will most likely be reversed tomorrow morning during the brunch I’m expected to be awake for. It’s all good though. At least I won’t be sleeping off a hangover (Paaa-raise the Loooooord!).

Whatever happens to me after sunrise, I just wanted to take a quick minute to wish you and yours a happy Easter. At the very least I wish you lots and lots of free ham. And if you make it a point to not involve either Easter OR ham in your life, I’ll do my best to make this blog up to you. Unfortunately most of my attempts at reconciliation usually involve dry humping. Jesus has risen. And so has my libido.

Keep it real, Jellybeans.

I’ve been watching this youtube video off and on for the last month I think and I don’t

I've been watching this youtube video off and on for the last month I think and I don't know why. Maybe because it displays to me through the preaching, the words, the music, and the cinematography the true awesomeness of Christ and truly it does. The message is powerful and every time I watch it the question, "Do you know Him?" seems to resonate with me. To the point that just the other day while in prayer I was asking it of myself or of the Lord really, "Do I know You? and, "how many of us who call ourselves Your Children really do? How well do we know You?"

Like I said, I've been thinking on this a lot lately. Maybe because I feel like when it comes to the life of Christ I've been missing something. Maybe because when it comes to my life looking "Christ-like" it doesn't really feel like I'm measuring up. Maybe in certain Christian circles I might but, I'm not really concerned with certain Christian circles. What I'm really concerned with is what God thinks of me, what God wants to do with me, and where I've failed to see. I mean, I can go to church, read the Word, I can do and say all the right things, which is fine, but then, why do I still feel like I'm missing something?

I sat in Easter service today. I sing the songs, I hear the message, but then, "what?" I apply it to my life. I read books, I pray, but lately I've grown tired of praying the same old things. I grow tired of the monotony and then I find myself asking God, "God, I'm missing something. I know that I am. I'm living the mundane and I'm tired of doing the same old things."

I watch this video; clips of the life of Christ and Christ lived a radical life. Not easy, not here to tell us, "I've come to save you! Now go and live a life of ease and mediocrity!" If this is my mentality - then God help me, because when I look at the life of Christ, when I really listen to the words He preached, and many of them were not easy, I realize. I realize where I've missed the mark. I realize how I've grown in my own complacency. I realize, "God, there is so much more about you that I really do not know," and yet, I realize that I want to. I want to know so that I can what? live "the abundant life?" No. I want to know so that I can live a "radical" life, the radical life I believe God calls all of His Children to. The question is; when He does do we hear Him and do we even want to?

Happy Easter everyone! Sending candy-coated wishes to you all. Here at the palatial West Philly estate, we are still recovering from the FIVE HOUR LONG birthday party we sponsored yesterday, which was super fun & super successful, but left us reaching for the bottle well into last night. Well. o-kay, just me.

This morning my husband, live-in tech whiz supremo that he is - recorded the ladies egg hunt, which of course I just KNEW you'd be dying to see, even though we have not showered and are not wearing any fancy pants Easter costumes or anything. So w/out further ado, Click here for the HUNT.

Firstly Happy Easter to everyone who reads this column. This is as special time of year for me.

Firstly Happy Easter to everyone who reads this column. This is as special time of year for me. However, my celebrations were rather curtailed today by a young drummer and his percussionist friend who introduced a new concept to the word 'crucifixion'!

One of my major interests as many will know is creativity and its application to all areas of our life, but particularly in music. These players (particularly the drummer who rates himself as 'good') were so creative I was confused. Just about every other line of various songs were treated to a variety of styles, few of which fitted, and none of which added to these particular songs. It was a great example how when we lose sight of our role and forget to listen to the music, we add little to the song, in fact we run the risk of killing it! "Less is more" was more than adequetely substituted by "More is Less" in this case.

Some will accuse me of being rather hard on this player especially those in the Church who feel that criticism is not allowed, particularly if you belong to certain families (with which I totally disagree). I tend to agree that criticism that discourages people should be avoided wherever possible and try to offer help rather than criticism. But when the help falls on deaf ears and those we try to help continue to do things as they've always done them, at that point, the swear word 'responsibility' comes into play.

Maybe if he spends a bit more time listening to what others in the real world say to him things would move forward. The adulation of family and friends, whilst well intended only makes things worse.

Here in Loughborough we are part of an Easter initiative called the bigger picture and are hoping to set a new World record for the largest ever painting by numbers. This is a great analogy of playing as part of a band or team ... we all have our part to play as part of the bigger picture. Interestingly one panel has been painted in totally diffrent shades to the several hundred others. Where is the eye drawn? To that one panel that stands out.

Today's musical events are so applicable to the picture ... we choose the wrong colours and textures, or ignore what the rest of the picture is saying and we stand out for all of the wrong reasons.

So did I enjoy my Easter celebrations? Yes I did! And despite what people may say about these things being individual, I feel that where people meet together to celebrate, such as in a church, they are also very much corporate. We celebrate Easter together and therefore, each of us has a responsibility to help others celebrate too. We're all bricks in the wall or pieces in the jigsaw, and just as a missing brick or missing piece weakens the structure or spoils the picture, so we have the ability to kill other people's celebrations when we contribute to that hole in the wall.

I really do wish you a Happy Easter ...

and I really do wish some drummers would hang up their sticks until they learn to be part of a band ... not star of the show.

Until next time!

When I looked on the new BBC Three homepage, i noticed that they have a animated favicon (a favicon

When I looked on the new BBC Three homepage, i noticed that they have a animated favicon (a favicon is the little logo/picture that most browsers display in the address bar). I thought that was pretty clever, so, being a geek, i did a little poking and found they had got it as a GIF file.

So, today I made my own animated favicon...

Only after putting it in did I find that not all browsers support this idea. The ever great Firefox does, Safari might but mine doesn't like working and Internet Explorer simply doesnt. After checking the BBC Three site, I found they had a 'normal' ICO favicon, which i then put in and now IE has the old stationary one while lucky, clever Firefox people have my nice animation!

Anyway, if you can - have a look! And if you cant - download Firefox!

Happy Easter
