Everyone loves free stuff and many people search the net just to check the free stuff. Yes there are lot of resources, links and information scattered around, but the most difficult task is to dig out the information from it. Many sites which sell their products offer some free stuff to attract the customers. It is similar to hanging the banner 'sale' or 'buy one get one free' to increase the sales. Today I am reviewing the site "Tutorials.com" which sells online courses and tutorials. It offers few of the tutorials and how to guides FREE of cost.

I think at a certain point during every healer’s career, there comes a desire to cut out the middl

I think at a certain point during every healer’s career, there comes a desire to cut out the middle man. Who is that middle man? Clicking then casting.

It was my first time healing in a 25 man, and my guild was starting Magtheridon. My new blood elf Pally finally had some decent gear from Karazhan, and I felt I was ready to show the world what I could do. Well, at least show my guild what I could do. I checked the meters at the end. I did alright – but that was all I did, just alright. I thought to myself, how can I be better? Maybe I can make my heals faster?

There are a couple different ways to do this. One of them is an addon called Clique. The other is a feature of the macro interface called Mouseovers.

Some people call Paladins “two button healers.” While on a basic level we are, I use more than two buttons to heal, and my mouse only has two buttons. So perhaps I could use Clique and get some fancy gaming mouse, but the fact of the matter is that I’m cheap. Just ask my guildies how long it took me to get a PC that ran at more than 5fps. The great thing about mouseovers is that you can bind them to as many buttons as you like. In fact, you could make almost every ability in your spellbook a mouseover if wanted to.

So what do these Mouseovers do?
It cuts out the middle man. You hover your mouse over your target, whether that’s a character, a mob, or a name in a raid/party frame. Then you press your keybinding. The interface “clicks” on your target for you, cutting out that third step to casting.
Here’s how you set it up:

Have fun mousing over!

HOLY

Enlightened

This is part one of a 3-part post about the new Paladin spells coming in WotLK.

HOLY

Enlightened Judgments, Requires 40 points in Holy
Increases the range of your Judgment spells by 10/20 yards

This is actually nice. Paladins can now judge seals from a save distance during fights but you have to strike the mob/boss to refresh the seal. I don’t see holy paladins running up to the mob/boss to refresh a seal or re-judging the seal often. Maybe in dire straits.

However it is helpful in PVP situations (i.e. Shockadins).

Blessed Hands, Requires 20 points in Holy, Instant cast
Reduces the mana cost and increases the resistances to Dispel effect of all Hand spells by 15/30%

Nice PVP talent especially using along with Hand of Freedom

Infusion of Light, Requires 1 point in Holy Shock, requires 25 points in Holy
Your Holy Shock critical hits reduce the cast time of your next Holy Light spell by 1.25/2.5 secs.

I’m kinda mixed on this one. Holy Shock is better by its cooldown reduced to 6 sec however I haven’t seen if the mana cost to use Holy Shock changed. As you may know Holy Shock uses a moderate amount of mana but with a 15 sec cool-down the mana consumption is fair and manageable. With the cooldown lowered to 6 sec and no change to the mana cost, your mana consumption has been increased and you can potentially use an enormous amount of mana trying to get Infusion of Light to proc and then using Holy Light. Illumination will soften the hit to your mana especially when you Divine Favor before casting Holy Light but I don’t see Holy Shock being used as a healing spell as often as some may think to get the benefit of Infusion of Light.

I’m not saying the spell is bad, quite frankly it isn’t. It actually gives another instant cast heal which paladins need. However the spell is limited to when you need to use it as oppose to use it when it proc so you have to constantly use Holy Shock to benefit from it. If you have a lot of spell crit this may not be a big issue but some don’t. They normally have +spell damage and Mp5, which will become difficult to utilize Infusion of Light.

Personally I believe this spell is suited in the PVP element were a Shockadin survivability just skyrocketed. Think about it, having an instant cast heal using your biggest heal in the battlegrounds/arena plus I don’t see a cooldown for Infusion of Light after it proc. That is overpowered.

I’m thinking Infusion of Light will be nerfed before WotLK. If so, I don’t see many will spec in it.

Sacred Cleansing, Requires 40 points in Holy
Your Cleanse spell has a 10/20/30% chance to increase the target's resistance to Disease, Magic and Poison by 30% for 10 sec.

Nice, a helpful resistance when you cleanse someone or yourself.

Judgements of the Pure, Requires 45 points in Holy, Duration 30 seconds, Instant castCasting and melee speed increased by 2/4/6/8/10% for 30 seconds.

A built-in haste, not bad. I’m curious if this spell stacks with Light’s Grace since it last for 30 seconds.

Beacon of Light, Requires 50 points in Holy talents, 40 yard range, 1.5 sec cast
The target becomes a Beacon of Light, healing all party or raid members within 10 yards for 990/1120/1280/1725/2000 over 15 sec.

Rank 2: Requires level 65, 945 mana, heals for 1120
Rank 3: Requires level 70, 1040 mana, heals for 1280
Rank 4: Requires level 75, 1970 mana, heals for 1725
Rank 5: Requires level 80, 2330 mana, heals for 2000

Let me start by saying I like this spell and by far the best spell Blizzard implemented for the Paladin class. It provides an AoE heal which Paladins need and it generates threat per each heal to the person that becomes a Beacon of Light.

This spell is very powerful but extremely limited because I don’t see you using this spell on any class other than the tank. Also the amount of mana you need to cast it (2330 mana, rank 5) is more than a rank 13 Holy Light (1880 Mana) and heals far less. I can only see this spell used on the main tank to help top off the heals and to help sustain aggro.

Hand of Purity
Holy Provides preemptive reactive healing on the target.

This spell was mentioned at World Wide Invitational during the Q & A sessions with some of Blizzards developers. It has been mentioned this spell will be similar to the priest’s Prayer of Mending. There isn’t much mentioned but I am hoping Blizzard follows through and implements the spell.

Overall I like the changes but I see most of the new spells suited for PVP/DPS than healing

First practice for school's National Day Celebrations' Parade. How nervous I was! Was very afraid my voice would go haywire and I would run out of tune or say the wrong command. I remember panicking, wondering what was the command to give the supporting contingents to check their dressing ("Baris, ke kanan lurus") and I just stood there, stumped, until Mr L told me. Phew.

This year's will be very exciting! Yayness! Felt like giving a long bloody lecture despite my throat feeling kind of sore after two rounds of shouting all the parade commands (didn't want to but I had to). Drilled a bit and they did it nicely. Many were nervous, I guess. No worries.

Tomorrow there won't be any NDP rehearsal but yayness still as we get to watch the aerial show! WOOHOO! I want to see the Black Knights for myself. Standing at the parade didn't give me the chance to and finally tomorrow I get to see for myself that flying feeling and sound that I'd been hearing every week!

Thanks for everyone's wishes! Your support and encouragement was deeply appreciated, HAHA.

It is the normal summertime scenario on Lake Fork—lots of hot days and a lot of hot fishing action

It is the normal summertime scenario on Lake Fork—lots of hot days and a lot of hot fishing action. Fishing has been good for numbers most days with some big fish mixed in, like the 10 lb 4 oz and 8 lb lunkers we had on our last trip. It appears that the thermocline has developed as usual and many bass are now scattered or suspended, often making for smaller schools that are concentrated in small key locations. The big bass seemed to be mixed in with a lot of smaller bass, so watch your depth finder closely until you find a school, then work them over thoroughly until you’ve caught every bass in the area.

Lake Conditions: A couple weeks without significant rains has Fork’s water level slowly dropping, but still in great shape for the summer. The lake level is currently reading 403.21’ (about 3” above full pool). Most of the lake is now clear, with some stained water on the north ends. Water temps are normal for the summer, reading anywhere from 84 to 89 in the main lake. As the water continues to drop, the expansive hydrilla and milfoil beds are starting to mat up, which should make for good fishing later this summer and fall.

Location Pattern: Early and late, I’m finding good bass feeding on points and flats near or in the main lake. These fish are mostly in 8’ to 15’, often around the deep edge of the hydrilla or milfoil. Deep structure like points, humps, and roadbeds in 18’ to 30’ continues as my main pattern, producing both good numbers and size. Some days these bass are suspended and other days they’re on the bottom. Many of these schools have been small and are relating to a few pieces of isolated cover, so watch your depth finder closely.

Presentation Pattern: First thing in the morning, I’m working shallow grass on the main lake and in the 1st half of creeks. Pitch a 3/8 oz Mega Weight jig or a Texas rigged 8” or 10” worm a few feet inside the deep weedline and work it out slowly. I’m using a green pumpkin/black or a watermelon seed jig with a watermelon/red flake Fork Craw trailer, and a watermelon/red or green pumpkin Fork Worm on the Texas rig.

Out deeper, Carolina rigs, drop shots, jigs, and Texas rigs are catching bass from schools located near the bottom on deep structure. I go with a green pumpkin or watermelon red Twitch Worm or 10” Fork Worms for Texas rigs. Meanwhile, watermelon candy, watermelon/red, or green pumpkin Baby Fork Creatures, Ring Frys, and Twitch Worms are on the business end of my Carolina rigs. Drop shots will catch good numbers of fish and the occasional big bass, rigged with a watermelon or green pumpkin Twitch Worm. ½ oz Mega Weight jigs with matching Fork Craws are also catching some big bass out deep. When the bass are suspended, swimbaits, spoons, or deep diving crankbaits in shad or yellow bass patterns are working better than the bottom presentations, and catching some lunkers too.

Here’s hoping you catch the lunker of your dreams. If I can be of assistance, please contact me at 214-683-9572 (days) or 972-635-6027 (evenings) or e-mail me through http://www.LakeForkGuideTrips.com , where your satisfaction is guaranteed.

Good Fishing,

This guide was inspired by Nibuca of Mystic Chicanery. She saw the need for guides on how each class

This guide was inspired by Nibuca of Mystic Chicanery. She saw the need for guides on how each class could improve their raiding performance by looking at WoW Web Stats reports. The original version of this guide was written by Arwin of Con O Sin Semilia at the Spanish-language blogging community website TodoWoW. It has been rewritten into an English version with permission.

When a hunter goes raiding, the primary data from which performance is judged upon is DPS. But what's in a DPS number of a hunter?

We went to fight Gruul the Dragonkiller and recorded out first WoW Web Stats report ever. The catch is, Gruul is not a simple tank and spank boss fight. There's a lot of movement required because of Cave Ins, Ground Slam, and Shatter. But since we can't always choose what bosses we fight, we'll take this report as a sample fight.

WoW Web Stats displays a player's performance in a raid in a conveniently customizable way, so you can rank people by healer or damage dealers. We will focus on hunters, and because we are a Marksmanship hunter, we'll be able to compare our performance with a Beast Mastery hunter as well.

"Lapetus" is the Beast Mastery hunter, and "Phobos" is us. We put in 9% of the damage dealt to Gruul with 829 DPS, putting us in fourth place and close very close to third. In order to look at a specific player's performance, click on that player's name, and it will display attacks broken down into abilities.

Now we can see the fight from our point of view in terms of numbers and percentages. As a Marksmanship hunter, we can see that the primary damage dealers we have are still Auto Shot and Steady Shot. Keep in mind that we are hit-capped. The percentages displayed above are also slightly off because we are taking away Shatter from the calculations (because that is damage dealt to raid members, not to Gruul himself).

39.2% Auto Shots compared to 23.8% Steady Shots of total damage.

Arcane Shot and Multi-Shot together deal approximately equal damage to Steady Shot.

Our pet makes up for 12.8% of our DPS.

Let's take a look at our Beast Mastery friend and see the difference in performance.

Compare the types of damage dealt (ignoring Shatter for reasons mentioned above and Arcane Strike, the Scryer proc on [Shattered Sun Pendant of Might]).

40.6% Auto Shots compared to 30.9% Steady Shots of total damage.

Pet contributes 26.6% to DPS, more than twice the contribution of our pet as a Marksmanship hunter.

Arcane Shot and Multi-Shot contribute 1.9% to total damage as filler shots.

Unfortunately, our friend is not hit-capped, so he missed opportunities where he could have done more damage. Regardless, the Beast Mastery rotation is easier to analyze, so we'll take a look at it first. The generally accepted shot rotation for Beast Mastery hunters is the 1:1 Auto/Steady rotation. What the selected report above doesn't show is the number of critical strikes per shot. They are available by changing the following settings. Select the
Columns
button and change your settings to the following.

The total number of attacks for each ability is the sum of the values in the Hits, Crit, and Missed columns.

As you can tell from this report, the number of Auto Shots outnumber that of Steady Shots for this Beast Mastery hunter. This is likely because repositioning during the fight causes Steady Shot to fire less often due to the casting time. If clipping is avoided from things like lag and bad macros or rotations, the total ratio of Auto to Steady should be near 1:1. Due to fight mechanics, it will probably never be exactly 1:1. For a 3:2 rotation, there should be more Steady Shots than Auto Shots in the report.

Another thing to notice in this report is the activation of Kill Command. The report above cited a total of 61 critical strikes. While it is impossible to activate Kill Command for every single critical strike, a good macro and latency should make the ratio of Kill Commands to critical strikes closer to 1. During this fight, the ratio is 25/61, or about 41%. Anytime the ability is not activated after a critical strike, we lose valuable DPS for the raid. A problem is also present if the fight is pet-unfriendly. Because pets contribute upwards of a quarter of a beast master's DPS, not using a pet reduces one's DPS significantly. If this were the case, a marksman is likely to overtake or equalize the DPS since his/her pet only contributes about one-eighth of the DPS output.

For the discussion of using Arcane Shot versus Multi-Shot as filler shots, we'll look at a different report: Hydross the Unstable. During this fight, our build is slightly different in that we've added Improved Barrage and removed Improved Aspect of the Hawk.

Using these two shots are actually more of a matter of preference and playstyle rather than anything else. The only way to learn which one you prefer is to make comparisons.

Arcane Shot is a single-target ability, while Multi-Shot is used against multiple targets.

Arcane Shot does magic damage. Multi-Shot does physical damage, which is more likely to be mitigated.

Multi-Shot has a much longer cooldown than Arcane Shot.

However, other factors that count are the talents Barrage and Improved Barrage. Because Beast Mastery hunters are unable to obtain these talents with a 41/20 spec, I'm under the impression that using Arcane Shot is more efficient. However, a Marksmanship hunter will find that Multi-Shot can easily out-damage Arcane Shot with fewer shots if those two talents are utilized, as seen in the report above.

Other things you can also check for are how often cooldowns like trinkets and abilities (e.g. Bestial Wrath) are used. Divide the length of the fight by the cooldown time. If these abilities are used very little compared to the number you obtain, that means you could use these abilities more often to increase your DPS.

Most of all, I cannot once again stress the importance of the hit cap. It's very important, so I have to say it again. Any shots missed because we are not hit capped is a loss of DPS, and any extra DPS is very valuable in some boss fights.

So go ahead and try to record your own log by typing
/combatlog
before a raid begins (to start) and after it ends (to end recording) and see what you can improve upon. You combat log will be stored in your World of Warcraft program folders, and you can upload them onto WoW Web Stats. Feel free to contact me if you have any comments. I will also try to answer any questions if you have them.

Dell is a favourite choice among freshies in Malaysia. For anyone who knows a bit of computer hardware market,we can pretty much tell that Dell offers the best performance/price ratio among all its competitors not only in the notebook market but for desktop too.

For those who don't know , I am an avid photographer and graphics designer . I have involved in countless graphics projects and photo shootout since my late high school life. Hence , my eyes are trained to be sensitive to monitor colors since I spend a lot of time in front of the monitor changing color balance , selecting color paint..and etc.

Ok. So i came to notice that Dell Notebook LCD sucks. I'm not going to talk about the technical details of the LCD panel. So there i was , scratching my head wondering how am i going to live through 4 years developing photos with this shitty super inaccurate color. * Think ! *

Nvidia has a function to adjust monitor color via software!

Initially i was reluctant to try the function since i thought the color will still be dull and very little difference could be made due to hardware limitation. Graphical artifacts could also be observed. But then.. the color was really pathetic , so i didn't care so much and jumped straight to it.

I took my laptop to my home 22" LCD ,comparing screen by screen using various photos and elemental color images.I had to move the slider bit by bit because i'm a perfectionist when it comes to things like this..and Guess what? Huge improvement was made!

Whoever is interested of getting better color on the LCD can refer to the settings below

To access the Nvidia Monitor Control Panel:
1) Right click on your desktop -> Select Nvidia Control Panel

2) Select Adjust desktop color settings

3) Move the sliders to the following positions as shown below

Red & Green:

Brightness:40
Digital Vibrance:11
Contrast:60
Image Sharpening:None
Gamma:42

Blue:

Brightness:27
Digital Vibrance:11
Contrast:60
Image Sharpening:None
Gamma:31

4) Tada! Enjoy your new and fresh LCD color !

So, you want to publish video of your recordings online. To do so, a good camcorder is a must-

So, you want to publish video of your recordings online. To do so, a good camcorder is a must-have to capture good video. I'll cover a few options including the camcorder that I use for my videos.

Just like with audio recording, there is a trade-off between money, the amount of time you are willing to devote to processing the video, and the quality of the resultant video. Finally, consider your final product. If the target is just a youtube clip, then lower quality will probably be fine. If you intend to produce DVDs then higher quality is a must.

Quick and Easy

A new camcorder format has recently picked up in popularity. These are typified by the Flip Video series ($130-$180). It is very small, the quality isn't perfect but is good enough, and records in a format that is suitable for uploading to youtube. Most people do not edit the content produced by this recorder.

The New York Times has a great review of this unit. This would be great to grab clips of your harinam party, temple kirtans, and other events where a short clip is sufficient.

Since it is flash based, copying the video to your computer is faster than real-time -- a big problem with tape-based camcorders.

DV Camcorder

The next step up is a mini-DV tape based camcorder. These camcorders have been around for years and are very reliable. The quality should be better than the flip, but not as good as an HD camcorder. Price should be in the $250-$500 range. In general I don't recommend these anymore. Technology is moving forward to the next generation of camcorders. On the other side, if you are on a budget, you might be able to pick up a used one cheap at a garage sale, Craigslist, or eBay. You'll also need some video editing software and a firewire connector on your computer. A decent model would be the Canon ZR950 ($250).

Do not buy any DVD based camcorder. The quality is substandard and the media is pricey. I'd only recommend one for someone that has no intention of editing the video after recording.

HD Camcorder

The next step up is an HD camcorder. I shoot all my current video using a Sony HDR-SR11 ($1100). This records in full HD (1920x1080i) to a 60gig hard drive (or to a memory stick if you want). The low-light performance is fairly good. You can also manually adjust the exposure to increase the brightness in a darker space. The camcorder also has the option of using an external mic, a headphone jack, and an external zoom control. I've been very pleased with this camcorder. The only thing I don't like about this camcorder (and is common with the last Sony HD camcorder I used) is that it is slow to focus in low light. This can be frustrating when out on a night harinam. Oh, and there is no native progressive recording mode so I have to convert to progressive as part of the editing process. But, for 90% of what I record, this camera is perfect.

Flash HD Camcorder

I mentioned above that Canon makes a very good competitor to the Sony including better low-light performance. The Canon Vixia HF10 ($820). This is a flash based camcorder with 16Gig built-in and a expansion SDHC slot for additional space. I used to use a flash based Sony camcorder (Sony HDR-CX7) and definitely appreciated the small size and low weight. The drawback is that if the class goes long and you are recording at high quality, then you have to stop and change the flash card part-way through the class. The CX7 used 8gig cards -- perhaps the 16gig cards reduce the possibility of running out during a long class, kirtan or other performance. The flash memory would still be limiting for all-day events like Rathayatra or Janmastami.

Semi-Pro Camcorders

The next step up from the regular HD camcorders are the semi-pro HD camcorders. Most are tape-based and record to HDV which is a variant of mini-DV. These camcorders tend to be physically larger and perform VERY good in low-light conditions.

No matter which camcorder you are interested in, research the camera online. A very good website for camcorder reviews is at camcorderinfo.com.

Also remember that each step up in quality requires a more powerful computer to edit and render the final video with the exception of HDV. Computer resources go up from flip->minidv->HDV->AVCHD (flash and hard drive based HD). If you do not have access to a high performance PC or Mac, then stick with the flip or minidv type camcorders.

Next week? Lighting.

The synergy between a hunter and his or her pet doesn’t stop when you spec away from Beast Mas

The synergy between a hunter and his or her pet doesn't stop when you spec away from Beast Mastery. Pet selection is also critical for various situations when you are a Marksmanship hunter. Although we're often accused of not paying enough attention to our pets, in truth we need our pets just as much.

Selection

There are several ways to approach pet selection when you are a Marksmanship hunter.

One way is to go the traditional tanking pet method where your pet should be generating enough threat that you will not have to go into melee combat or reposition yourself. The problem with this group of pets lies in the fact that after some time, all the mitigation these pets have will not become useful if they cannot hold aggro in the long run. The longer the fight, the more likely you yourself will pull aggro and turn the role of the hunter around.

In a PvE environment, selecting a pet with an ability that can be used as a focus dump is essential. It is generally acceptable to use a Cat or a Ravager because both Claw and Gore, respectively serve as focus dump abilities with a cost of only 25 focus. When used with Go for the Throat, focus dump becomes more important for a pet so that it can sustain its damage output. Windserpents are also viable for marksmen because Lightning Breath scales with attack power.

Utility is one of the most important aspects of a PvP environment. If a pet has any ability that can impair the enemy, it's very preferable.

The Numbers

As a marksman, you have several talents at your disposal to make your pet a more valuable companion. Let's compare using Armory Light two sample hunter profiles: one a beast master, the other a marksman.

[caption id="attachment_196" align="aligncenter" width="190" caption="Sample Marksmanship hunter."][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_195" align="aligncenter" width="190" caption="Sample Beast Mastery hunter."][/caption]

Remember that a pet's attack power scales with the hunter's attack power. Because a marksman usually has at least 200 more ranged attack power due to Trueshot Aura and talents like Combat Experience, Careful Aim, and Master Marksman, the scaling of pet attack power is much larger for a Marksmanship hunter. This data is obvious when you are using Armory Light to see the profiles of a hunter. From the two sample hunter profiles (approximately equivalent, though the Marksmanship hunter has slightly better gear), you will notice the significant difference in Pet AP.

Synergy

The key to using of a pet for Marksmanship hunters is to minimize the length of a fight with an enemy. The longer the fight, the more problems you will have in management.

Because Growl no longer scales with the pet's attack power after Patch 2.4.3, Marksmanship hunters will experience more occurrences where they draw more aggro away from their pets. It's important for our pets to get at least several seconds of head start for Omen Threat Meter to read at least 1000 threat generated by your pet. Usually this is achievable within the first 3 seconds of a fight. Your attack power and damage are your assets. Use your highest damage abilities first (i.e. Multi-Shot, etc.), then slowly increase the damage output using other special shots. By doing this, your threat is actually more manageable. The reason being is that when you put your highest damage shot out first, you will dramatically increase your threat to nearly the same level as your pet's.

Ranged attackers will draw aggro when they have achieved 30% more aggro than the "tank". If you were to start shooting with Auto, Steady, and Arcane, you will incrementally build damage in the beginning and risk the chance that a critical strike on Multi-Shot puts you way above the 30% mark and immediately draw aggro, forcing you into melee combat. Incremental increase of threat following an attack of massive threat will reduce that risk. Your pet will more easily sustain its threat generation if you are using lower threat abilities towards the end of the fight. It is also somewhat noticeable that because your pet has more attack power than normal, it will easily pick up an enemy again if you suspend of hold back your attacks temporarily. Splitting the attention of your enemy minimizes damage to both at the same time.

In the PvP environment, our pets are not as much of an annoyance as a big red beast clawing at your enemy. Marksmanship PvP hunters are well known for their utility and ability to manage with just about any class. Beast Mastery hunters can keep their big red pets. One of the most common PvP pets is the Scorpid family. Using a scorpid allows the use of Scorpid Poison, a Damage over Time ability much like Serpent Sting. Using these two makes yourself a formidable opponent by maximizing what you can do with a pet. Night elf hunters can also use Shadowmeld and activate their cats' Prowl ability to surprise unsuspecting enemies. By stacking your abilities with those of your pets', you will be able to work as a cohesive team. Again, the Marksmanship hunter makes short of his job with the help of a pet. Aimed Shot a healer, dispel using Arcane Shot, interrupt with Silencing Shot, and stun with Improved Concussive Shot. Manage your pet well while using all your abilities as needed, and you can very well hold out against many players.

Final Thoughts

While we do not provide our pets with as many abilites as Beast Mastery hunters do, we can work just as well with our pets. I recently moved my talent points in Improved Aspect of the Hawk to Endurance Training, and the survivability of my pet is much more noticeable. 10% of health increase towards pets while trained with the proper resistances greatly improves raid performance.

Marksmanship hunters must see their relationship with their pets as a two-way road. You contribute to each other's performance. Beast masters will always send in their pets first into the chaos, but we have to analyze when is the perfect time for us to use our pets. We can't risk sending them into a dangerous environment if we are using Focused Fire. It's like a protective parent who can't risk sending a child into battle. I'm more than willing to take the force of the attack if my pet is in danger.

Whether you are a beast master, marksman, or survivalist, you're still a hunter, and you need your pet regardless of your preferred talent tree. Learn how to manage your pets, and you will be on your way to becoming a successful hunter. If you find you have some problems, a bit of Misdirection also helps.

Boomstik here! I know it's been a while since my last post and that I'm not doing a great job splitting writing responsibilities with Loronar (finally got my epic mount and exalted SSO!), but today I'll write a post that I'm sure all of you hunters are experienced with (especially if you read a certain site, like you should). Pets!

This post is based largely off of a comment from one of Loronar's posts. Also, Loronar wants to talk about MM pets, so I'll try to let him do that. Here, I'll describe pets for BM hunters, given whatever situation.

Max DPS:

There are really only 3 pet families (unfortunately) that give the highest DPS. Cat, Raptor, and Ravager. All three can eat meat, with Raptors being the most picky (only meat). Pros and Cons of those 3? Well, Raptors arguably look coolest. Who didn't want a dinosaur pet growing up? Unfortunately, it's got the least amount of learnable skills. Cats can learn Prowl, which increases their initial attack against a mob. Quite handy when trying to build up aggro or just increasing overall damage. They also have the least punishment towards their HP. However, they have the lowest armor rating of the three, which isn't a big deal for pure DPS, but not that handy when trying to momentarily hold aggro (eg, saving a squishy til the tank gets there). Lastly, there are the Ravagers. Personally, I use a green one. They learn Gore, which has a 50% chance to do double damage, potentially increasing their damage output over the other three. Cons? They have the least amount of HP and are kinda funky looking.

Some people use Windserpents since their Focus Dump, Lightning Breath, is Nature based and ignores physical defense. I don't crit enough for my pet to get enough Focus and I'm not really at the point where LB outweighs Gore, but it's an option for you!

PVP:

I don't PVP. At all. I, personally, considered it a waste of time and ammo since I'd rather see Blizzard's content then shoot at players. At least until I saw the S4 gear, whoo boy, that stuff is spicy. But, if I DID PVP, you'd bet I'd have a Scorpid for a pet. Sure, Birds, Owls, and Carrion Birds are big and bulky and interfere with targeting, but Scorpids have a stacking poison that must be Cleansed before your Viper Sting can be cleansed.

Tanking:

You may be wondering why there's a tanking section, seeing as how our pets aren't that great at tanking. Well, I would personally like to see pets being able to decently tank in Wrath as one of the Pet Talent Trees. In hopeful preparation, I'll say that I like Boars, Bears, Bats, Owls, and Carrion Birds. Boars because of Gore and Charge (even though Charge was nerfed); these skills should help it get large initial aggro and hold onto it. Bears are good because of unpicky diet (Bread, Cheese, Fruit, Fish, Fungus, AND Meat? Don't bring em to a buffet!) and because of the fairly high armor and HP values. Lastly, Bats, Owls, and Carrion Birds all have a pet version of Demo Shout! How cool is that? Works pretty well too! Did you see this video? Or this one? You can't do those things anymore, but the Screech (Demo Shout) was probably crucial.

But in the end, your pet should kinda make a statement about you too. You're going to be with it for a long time! And you're supposed to lovingly name it! Plus you get 3 stable slots...which admittedly isn't enough...even I want like 6 pets. So I recommend getting a DPS pet for raids, but look at Petopia and really find one you want hanging around with you. I did that and I love Bigwhitebar and Imaspikyroar. They love me back right guys?

*two angry growls*

....AAAAAaaaaanyway, what pets do y'all have and why?

I like to level alts – it’s stress free! I get to noob it up as much as I want and learn about how other classes work. However there’s something I’ve noticed while playing these alts. A lot of paladins seem really confused about what buffs they should be giving out to different classes. It’s one thing when the pally is level 15 and they don’t have very many choices. It’s another thing when at level 55 my hunter gets salvation. /facepalm

With that in mind I’ve created a little chart. It’s not foolproof (still some thinking involved) but it gives a good idea of what’s essential, alright, and just not needed by different classes. I’ve taken a nod from Blizz in how it’s coded, hopefully making it easier to understand!

Here’s how to read it, and please forgive my crappy Photoshop skills:

Purple - epic, best quality buff!

Blue - not as good as an epic, but it’ll do.

Green - if a raid has 3 (or more) paladins, then this will be nice as another buff.

White - not a waste, but not usually needed either.

And if it’s not marked, then don’t buff it!

In some places there are two purple flowers, or two blue flowers for one class. This means that the two buffs are either situational, or a personal preference. For example, feral druids have both Blessing of Light and Blessing of Salvation marked as blue. If the feral druid is tanking, they’ll need Light. If they’re dps, they’ll need Salvation.

Happy buffing!

Am feeling very lazy right now. L-A-Z-Y. Am supposed to be doing my homework but I actually started

Am feeling very lazy right now. L-A-Z-Y. Am supposed to be doing my homework but I actually started blog-hopping when my main purpose of turning on the computer was to email a list of people's names.

The saddest part was when I read about people going out, blahblahblah, and I can't due to all my Saturdays taken over by NDP! Sunday I have class and I need the time to do homework. Friday, guides after school too. Boo.. But I think I'll be sad on the last day, the actual day of NDP. There were talks yesterday that all of us will be crying after it and I have to admit, me being such a sentimental being, will cry. Ooops, I might even be the first to cry. Just like when we had the farewell party for last year's Secondary Fours. I don't know why, but I just did. I felt sad that time passed so fast and WL who was my Patrol Leader, started comforting me, HAHAHA.

Frankly speaking, I felt like crying on the last day of school last year too but held it back as everyone seemed happy that it was the last day and would have caused an embarassing scene. Heh, heh..

Hey, at least we can meet up on the rumoured-planned gathering a week after NDP and I can't wait for that. Finally! Can go out! I desperately want to watch some movies- Prom Night, The Dark Night (double night? HAHA.) and to shop. Eh, no. I will be able to shop on the eight after school's parade. MUAHAHAHA. I will be such a stylist pro so don't you worry when you buy your dress kay? You'll be fine!!!

Whooopee. Happy and sad at the same time. I'll miss the GM Guides for sure!

Have noticed that my readership is growing (but no one seems to bother to tag). Hmm. Am just wondering what exactly that's so interesting to read from here? I find my own posts boring sometimes. Its just the life of an ordinary plain jane school girl who has not much sense of style and is also one whom you can hardly hold a conversation with unless you are plainly talking crap, cock, profanities, nonsense, gossip or about homework. Really, sometimes I find myself a very boring person. What is it exactly that keeps me going (to blog) for almost three years now? Really, to think about it, I don't know.

Maybe it's because it's just more interesting than Friendster or Facebook. Something to kill time. Something that I can go to when I feel like procrastinating. Ooops. HAHA. Hardly anybody seems to be online nowadays. One one side, most of them are busy with the Cempakan Commencements. On the other side, our tests and homework can get really crazy at times. GAH. I feel like ranting but I don't know what to rant about. The hectic and craziness of life? At least 'm not bored, HAHA. Okay, I don't know what am I yakking about. Just some random thoughts.

Maybe it's because of the lack of social life for the past few weeks after the holidays. I must be going bonkers.
