We've decided a Ferrari doesn't have to be red. We have just added a gorgeous 355 to our portfolio and it is a complete stunner. In our humble opinion the 355 in any other colour than red almost looks like a different car. Maybe a metallic hue shows off the subtle detailing of the curvy shape rather more than a solid colour. This particular 355 is finished in Tour de France Blue. Take a look at the images by clicking here. The car looks classy and very slightly understated. It still makes a great noise though! The tan interior contrasts perfectly with the blue exterior and the overall condition of this 355 is highly original and unmolested. As with any Ferrari the service history is vitally important and this one comes with a comprehensive mix of main agent and specialist provenance. The last serivce was done by Verdi very recently and the car has also had a new clutch fitted. The cambelts were checked for wear by Verdi and they were given the thumbs-up too. Comme chaque année à pareille époque, c'est un peu l'heure de faire le bilan.

Pour GTS, on peut dire que l'année 2007-08 est un bon cru.

Plusieurs raisons à cela :

• Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve a rejoint le cercle des villes GTS
• l'IBSR nous a apporté son soutien pour distribuer des bons de 40€ aux participants
• dans chaque ville, tous les marchands de vélos contactés nous ont soutenu
• les nouvelles pour l'an prochain sont excellentes (la ville de Ciney rejoint le projet et à Ath, d'autres écoles devraient compléter la liste des écoles participantes)
• GTS fait des émules dans les écoles athoises (on a constaté une augmentation du nombre de vélos dans les écoles primaires, en plus des participants GTS)
• l'évaluation du projet avec la ville et les écoles partenaires à Ath a été très positive (celle d'Ottignies se tiendra la semaine prochaine)

Comme il est toujours agréable de terminer avec bonne nouvelle, je vous annonce que nous serons soutenu l'an prochain par un nouveau partenaire, la Province du Brabant wallon !

We've been busy again this week.

We've spent an outrageous amount of money to fill our window boxes and put in hours of back-breaking labor to HALFWAY finish a small flower bed. Halfway! Ugh. You are looking at Wubby and our peonies :) I'm so jealous of all the pretty gardens I've been seeing others post. We'll get there too, one day . . .

How soon we get there may depend upon the quality of labor our assorted volunteers contribute! Here is our alyssum sprouts after Shiloh "helped" dig them.

And here you see our lawn boy after he's mowed many of our MILES of lawn. (If you think shoveling is back breaking, you should attempt to mow with my little man's help! lol)

I have discovered many, many wild strawberries growing about and I found a tiny little lilac bush - Yay! Now I just need to pamper the bush.

My daughter is on a ministry-outreach trip currently with the Gateways Beyond Training School. Her team will be visiting Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania. Each place will be beautiful and brimming full of history and opportunities for them to experience European culture and share the love of Jesus.

One of the most beautiful cities will be Prague, Czech Republic. I believe it is more gorgeous than its rivals: Budapest, Hungary; St. Petersburg, Russia; or Vienna, Austria. We have spent time in all of these and love Prague the most.

My heart has been captivated each time I have visited. The city was not bombed by Hitler during WWII, so many of the buildings are really ancient dating back to the 1000's.

I will never forget one evening in Prague during the winter. It was the first snow of the season and huge flakes drifted down around us as we walked across the King George Bridge. The winter moon shone on the river, and the lights of the city flickered and warmed the cold night. I gazed over the ancient buildings and the castle tops spiring into the night, and felt like I was in a fairytale moment... certainly one moment I will never forget.

Right now, I am sort of down on traveling, because I need a break. We have been on the road for over 12 years. But honestly traveling has afforded me the best moments, opportunities, and memories of my life. Something I will always be grateful for.

I will be thinking about my daughter walking the streets of Prague, crossing the King George Bridge, and touring one of the oldest synagogues in Eastern Europe with her friends... only right now, I am glad it is her and not me. But I know she is on an adventure of a lifetime, and for that I rejoice!

Our new office is just west of the Chelsea Historic District [PDF], where the beautiful Greek Revival townhouses of Cushman Row encourage pedestrians to stop and smell the proverbial roses. Or in this case, the literal ones.

This photo, taken yesterday, shows the roses that are now blooming along the gates of the General Theological Seminary on 20th Street. The gothic-looking Seminary, built on land donated by Clement Clarke Moore, is a beautiful oasis of greenery, and a great place to check out if you're in the neighborhood.

There was squats between OABs to train our bodies to feel as if we just got off a bike, and even though we are in the early stages, I can definitly tell that on race day I am going to look like a gimpy Manute Bol (more so than he usually was). At the end was core work, which is always fun to try to challenege yourself to put up with intense pain that the mind has a hard time understanding. What I mean is that just simple positions to put yourself in while sitting/laying on the ground results in an intense struggle to maintain form in just over 15 seconds, and I'm even in pretty good shape already! If I don't get my six-pack by the end of this training, I think I'll have to give it up trying to get it back.

As for the first workout, it was kind of weak, as the coaches just wanted to get everyone moving, so it was just a single, easy 10 minute OAB, followed by some running form excersices, and a quick trip to a running store to grab some gear for those who needed it. I'll go over the running form in the future, but suffice to say, I'm surprised how much I learned about how to run. Seriously. It is going to be a contant fight to keep my strides shorter and quicker, as I'm acclimated to using my 6'6" frame to get places very fast by opening up the stride.

Also, Domino's backed out of giving us a few free pies for after our training session, so even though I never buy their crappy pizzas anyway, I'll still say I'm on an official Domino's Pizza boycott. C'mon, we're trying to cure cancer here!

Big challenge for myself this weekend as I'm travelling to Pittsburgh for my good friend Rob Booth's wedding. Will I have the resolve to get up early on Saturday morning and get a run in before the celebration begins? We'll see, but I should be able to get a quick post in Saturday morning if I pull it off. If it's all quiet here, you know I'm going to blame my laziness on the peer pressure of the night before... ;)

Новый Maserati будет представлен на Нью-Йоркской автомобильной выставке в сборном шоу-руме Ferrari - Maseratti на Парк авеню в Манхэттене.

GranTurismo S получит капотом табун на 440 лошадей, спрятанных в 4,7-литровых V8 - на 40 лошадиных сил больше, чем в стандартных GranTurismo. Максимальная скорость составит 295км/ч, что является максимумом для серийных моделей итальянской фирмы.  Разгон до 100км/ч будет занимать всего 4,9сек, благодаря коробке передач с минимальной задержкой переключения – всего 0,1сек.

Генеральный директор Maserati Роберто Ронки отметил, что концепция фирмы заключается не в достижении максимальных цифр на мощностных стендах, а в балансе спортивных качеств машины и ее пригодности к ежедневному использованию.

Среди отличий нового GranTurismo S стоит отметить также усовершенствованный выпуск, практически идеальную развесовку 47/53, доведенную совершенства аэродинамику (новый обвес и спойлер) и особую гордость инженеров Brembo – комбинированные тормозные диски из чугуна и алюминия и шестипоршенвые суппорта, спрятанные за 20 дюймовыми дисками.

Первые заказчики получат новинку до конца 2008 года.

Après le lancement du projet GTS à Ath et à Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, une série d'articles et un reportage ont été consacrés à Génération Tandem Scolaire, les voici :

Ce jeudi 24 avril a officiellement été lancé le projet Génération Tandem Scolaire à Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve.

Pour ce premier jour de parrainage à vélo, les tandems ont été accueillis à l'école communale de Blocry par l'échevin de l'enseignement, Monsieur Benthuys. Ce moment était aussi l'occasion pour le GRACQ Ottignies de remettre les bons GTS aux jeunes participants.

Grâce au soutien de l’IBSR, de la campagne jesuispour.be et du GRACQ Ottignies, nous avons pu offrir à chaque participant un kit GTS comprenant un coupe-vent, des brassards fluo et des autocollants réfléchissants aux couleurs de GTS ainsi qu'un bon de 80€ à valoir chez un vélociste de la région pour faire réviser son vélo ou acheter du matériel.(pour connaitre les commerçants partenaires, rendez-vous sur la carte).

Par la suite, lors d'une conférence de presse, les autorités locales, l'asbl Empreintes et le GRACQ Ottignies  ont présenté en détails le projet et répondu aux questions des journalistes présents (les articles seront publiés très bientôt).

Il ne reste plus qu'à souhaiter une bonne route aux tandems GTS !!!

Ce mercredi 23 avril, se tenait à Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve la formation des participants GTS.

Après une matinée de formation des marraines au Lycée Martin V, les filleuls nous ont rejoints pour une reconnaissance commune des itinéraires proposés pour rejoindre les écoles de Blocry et des Bruyères.

A 18h00, une réunion rassemblant la ville d’Ottignies, l’asbl Empreintes, les participants et les parents des filleuls s’est tenue à la maison de la citoyenneté. Lors de cette réunion, les parents ont pu faire connaissance avec les jeunes qui accompagneront leur enfant, ratifier la charte GTS et discuter des itinéraires.

Ce fut aussi l'occasion de régler les derniers détails pour la lancement des tandems et la conférence de presse prévue ce jeudi 24 avril!

How many times have you been let down or betrayed by someone you thought was your best friend, a friend you could trust and who trusted you? How many times have you been hurt by another's actions merely because they were so selfish in their needs that they didn't stop to think of the implications on the rest? We have all had these experiences, both men and woman, we've all been there whether we want to admit it or not.

What I have come to realise is that without these bad experiences we don't know the true meaning of the opposite, we don't know the true meaning of what we crave, true friendship that is unconditional in every sense of the heart. In those darkest hours of our life we often feel so alone that life itself can seem both pointless, hopeless and helpless. What we don't realise is just how many people out there go through what we go through, how many people feel the way we do or just how many people there really are that treasure friendship as we do.

Since those dark days of the MMM's (Me Me Me's full description in my post Friendship Lost) every day that passes I am shown that there are indeed more GGG's out there than I ever could have hoped or imagined! We the people with big hearts are in fact not alone, there are others out there waiting for destiny to bring them to you.

It is so easy to give up on the world and the people in it, so easy to lose hope and trust, to feel that we are alone in earth's jungle. Don't ever give up who you are to make way for the MMM's... In life each type of person has their place, they have their purpose, perhaps our opposites are there to show us what is good in ourselves and what we seek in others.

Without the bad we will never know the true goodness that is out there waiting to be found...

Never stop hoping in the world of the heart, never stop believing in your goodness or your capacity to do good even when it isn't reciprocated... stick to your guns, hold on tight, life is a journey and indeed it can be a mighty fun ride.

Smile at those MMM's in your life and secretly thank them for reminding you what you don't want to be...

... and through it all always remember you are not alone in this world that is a jungle ...

Ce mercredi 9 avril s’est tenu la formation commune aux parrains et filleuls de Ath. Cette journée était l’occasion pour les parrains et filleuls d’apprendre à se connaitre et à rouler ensemble.

C’était aussi une belle occasion de réunir nos partenaires locaux (ville, écoles, et police) pour distribuer les kits GTS aux participants.

En effet, grâce au soutien de l’IBSR et la campagne jesuispour.be, nous avons pu offrir à chaque participant un kit GTS comprenant un coupe-vent, des brassards fluo et des autocollants réfléchissants aux couleurs de GTS. Les GTS ont également reçu un bon de 40€ à valoir chez un vélociste de la région pour faire réviser son vélo ou acheter du matériel. ( pour connaitre les commerçants partenaires, rendez-vous sur la carte).

Dans le rayon des nouveautés, les tandems 2008 ont également reçu une carte GTS, facile à ranger dans son portefeuille, reprenant tous les n° de téléphone utiles ainsi que des fiches d’observations pour recenser les problèmes sur leur itinéraire en prévision de la rencontre citoyenne.

La télévision local, NO Télé étant venue faire des images de la formation, nous espérons pouvoir vous proposer un petit reportage d’ici peu.

Il nous reste à souhaiter une bonne route aux tandems athois qui prendront la route ce jeudi 10 avril !!

Nouveauté pour cette année 2008, les tandems GTS vont recevoir des fiches d'observation pour recenser les éventuels problèmes rencontrés sur leurs itinéraires.

Le but de ces fiches : fournir aux participants un outil pour préparer la rencontre citoyenne avec les autorités communales, ces fiches seront d'ailleurs téléchargeables d'ici peu dans la partie du site réservée aux participants.

Voici en primeur, un des derniers prototypes de cette fiche, n'hésitez pas à nous faire part de vos commentaires!!

Ce vendredi 21 mars, les parrains et marraines GTS d'Ath ont suivi une formation d'une journée. Au programme de celle-ci, différents cours théorique (code de la route, premiers secours (éviter le suraccident), des notions de mécaniques vélo) et pratique (maitrise du vélo, conduite à vélo en groupe). Malgré des prévisions météorologiques chagrines, la formation s'est déroulée au sec... la preuve qu'en Belgique, si il pleut souvent, il ne pleut pas tout le temps!!!

Ce mercredi 19 mars, malgré les averses de neige et de pluie, nous avons profité des nombreuses éclaircies pour la formation des filleuls à la conduite à vélo dans la cour de récréation, en groupe et puis avec des exercices individuels en rue.

Prochain RDV pour les filleuls, la formation du 9 avril avec les parrains et marraines !
