Paint Types in House Painting

Choosing your paint is probably the most important thing you will do on your project. This is because most paints are designed for a specific purpose. Primer paints are designed to adhere to raw surfaces and then to stick to a protective coat over the top of it. In general, there are four types of raw surfaces that you might want to paint over, wood, masonry, drywall, and bare metal. You should be able to find a primer that will work on your bare surface. Do not be tempted to simply skip the primer coat as finish paints will sometimes not stick well to the surface, especially metals.

The big question for many painters is whether they should use oil or water based paints. Glossy oils tend to be more impermeable to water and will bubble up if the surface beneath is damp. Latex and other water based paints will make wallpaper peel. Industry experts have argued for a long time over which formula is better in general. For exterior applications, water-based paints have the upper hand. Besides allowing the house to breathe, they tend not to crack as readily. In addition, they have the great advantage of water clean up. In addition, if you are worried about the ultimate environmental impact, water-based paints tend to be friendlier to the eco-system. Oil paints usually have a stronger and more overpowering odor. You should always ventilate well when painting, but it will seem even more vital with oil-based paints.

Even so, oil is often the choice to make, especially when painting over a surface that was previously painted with an oil base. If you simply must use a water-based paint over an oil-based paint, you should sand down the finish then prime it so that the paints will adhere to each other.

Although the price is not always the best indicator of quality, it does serve as a good general guideline. Also, the warrantee on paint will indicate how long it is likely to last. Remember that even inexpensive paint is relatively cheap when compared to the amount of time it takes to apply it. Better to have a durable paint that lasts a few extra years than a cheap one that gives out in less than five years.

Pigments in paints also make a difference. Cheaper paints often have cheaper pigments, so they tend not to cover as well, requiring more than one coat. Here again labor is a factor. Two coats of a paint that costs you half as much, is really only doubling your labor. Yellows tend to be the fastest fading color. Titanium dioxide is reported to be the best pigment. If you are buying an expensive paint, be sure to check the can for this ingredient.

Solids are included in paints to thicken the coating. It is calculated as the percentage of the paint that finally adheres to the wall. Solids generally run more than 40 percent of the paint. Higher than 45 is considered good. Do not look for this item on the can, as it is not usually on the label. The solids and pigment are held together with binders. In an acrylic paint, you will want to have all-acrylic binders for exterior paint. For interior paints, this factor is not as important.

Oil and acrylic will both cover most exterior surfaces, but stucco is a special case. Be sure to use an elastomeric paint, which continues to cover small cracks that can develop. Old aluminum siding can be painted. The old paint should be removed and a coat of latex primer and an additional coat or two of exterior paint can then be applied for an acceptable and durable finish.

When you go into the paint store, you will be confronted with flat, satin, and glossy paints. You should use flat for general background surfaces that are not subject to much wear and tear. Satin is better in bathrooms and kitchens where you would like to be able to clean the surface repeatedly over the years. Glossy paints accentuate a surface and bring people's attention to it. It also tends to be easier to wipe clean. Use glossy paints on cabinets, banisters, some molding and places where little fingers are constantly smudging. Remember, though glossy paints are easier to clean, they tend to show imperfections in wood, drywall, etc.

It probably goes without saying that you should use exterior paints outside and interior paints on the inside. The fact is that exterior paints are designed to be more durable in the elements and interior paints are designed to adhere better to surfaces commonly found indoors. Recent years have brought about advancements in eco-friendly paints with zero or low VOCs. These are worth checking into especially for those who have health concerns or who frequently work with paint.

Procesor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500, 2200Mhz, un Front Side Bus de 800 Mhz şi un cache de 4 MB. Chiar dacă nu e chiar ultima generaţie de la Intel, acest dual-core e rapid, frate. Dacă ar fi să-i găsesc un corespondent nici nu ar trebui să caut prea mult. Cred că acest procesor e într-adevăr un Lamborghini Gallardo (Viteza maximă : 309 Km/h, acceleraţie 0-100Km-h în 4.1 secunde). Nu e cel mai rapid model, aici sunt de acord, însă comparându-l cu concurenţa sa, AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 sau TL-62 e ca şi cum ai compara acest Gallardo cu un Mustang. Binenteles şi Mustang-ul e o maşină performantă, puternică, rapidă, însă la un head-to-head ar rămâne mult în urma Lamborghini-ului. În plus, un Mustang consumă mai mult.

Display şi Video: Ecranul e un TFT WSXGA+ (rezoluţie de 1680×1050 cu un aspect ratio de 16 : 10 ), Color Shine (aşa le place băieţilor de la ASUS să numească display-urile glossy). Şi cum ASUS sunt recunoscuţi pentru calitatea display-urilor, nici acesta nu face notă discordantă. Nu e pentru profesioniştii în ale graficii (pentru care display-urile mate sunt perfecte), însă pentru muritorii de rând e excelent. Placa grafică este un GeForce 8600M cu 512 MB de memorie dedicată şi încă 1 GB prin TurboCache (adică placa video poate să „împrumute” ceva memorie din RAM). Nu e chiar cea mai bună placă video de pe piată (Nvidia a scos seria 9 în februarie anul curent, urmată apoi în iunie de seria 200, unde GTX 280 e regele), dar cu siguranţă orice joc de anul acesta va rula lin cu ajutorul acestei plăci. Aş fi vrut să compar experienţa vizuală a acestui laptop cu frumuseţea Jessica-i. Însă acest notebook nu a atins perfecţiunea, de aceea cred că se potriveşte mai degrabă imaginii Evei. Dar până la urmă e o chestie de gusturi.

Hdd & RAM : Memoria RAM e de 2 GB, extensibilă la 4. E un DDR2 la 667 Mhz (oare rotunjirea e din superstiţie?). Nici aici nu a fost atinsă perfecţiunea, DDR3 fiind succesorul care se impune rapid prin viteza sa superioară (Se ajunge şi la 1800Mhz, adică de aproape 3 ori viteza memorie notebook-ului la care se face referire aici). Însă cei 4 giga de memorie la care se poate ajunge sunt arhisuficienţi pentru cerinţele de acum şi mult timp în viitor. Oricât de lacom ar fi Vista şi alte aplicaţii, cantitatea e realmente impresionantă. Hard Disk-ul e de 200GB. Nu e mult, dar nici puţin. E destul. Şi oricând se poate suplimenta prin HDD externe. Etalonul? Teo. Nu e un foarte suplă, însă nici nu e rotofeie. Mai ales după cura urmată.

Multimedia : Notebook-ul dispune de player Blu-Ray, înlocuitorul DVD-urilor clasice. Era şi timpul deoarece DVD-ul e deja un bătrânel şi trebuie să intre în pensie după ce a servit cu onoare încă din anii ’90. Pe un blu-ray putem pune 25 GB (single layer ) sau 50 GB (dual layer). Pe un dvd normal cifrele erau de 4,7 respectiv 8,5. Diferenţa se vede de la o poştă (Când am văzut anul trecut în primăvară, în Franţa, X-Men 3 rulat pe o plasmă de pe un Blu-Ray am rămas tablou. Experienţa e incomparabilă cu cea a unui DVD normal). La capitolul audio notebook-ul stă excelent, calitatea fiind High Definition Audio. Comparabilă cu vocea Aliciei Keys.

Comunicaţii: Notebook-ul dispune de o reţea 10/100/1000 la care puteţi lega ţeava de net, de wireless 802.11a/b/g/n în caz că nu aveţi ţeavă dar aveţi vecini „binevoitori”, un modem 56K dacă mergeţi la bunici sau vă place tortura dial-up precum şi de Bluetooth pentru conectare cu telefonul şi descărcare de poze pentru hi5. Deci are de toate pentru toţi. Din punctul acesta de vedere l-aş compara cu Mircea Badea la emisiunea În gura presei . Pentru că vorbeşte mult, dar cu folos.

Alimentarea se face, atunci când nu aveţi o priză la îndemână, cu ajutorul acumulatorilor Li-Ion cu 8 celule. Acele 8 celule fac diferenţa. E o greutate în plus, dar beneficiul este o autonomie sporită. Tine mult, aproape cât o călătorie cu CFR. Cu deosebirea că în cazul notebook-urilor chiar dorim să dureze cât mai mult.

Sistemul de operare: Windows Vista Ultimate. Cel mai deştept Windows creat până acum. E Einstein-ul sistemelor de operare. Acum susţinătorii Linux sau Mac o să-mi sară în cap, însă aceştia nu fac împreună decât 9% din totalul utilizatorilor de calculatoare. De acea mă pun bine cu majoritatea.

Preţul: 11.267,54 LEI la emag. Adică 4036.8 X 1 verzişor. E doar pentru cei care chiar nu au ce face cu banii, mai ales că la doar 64% din preţ luaţi acest ASUS cu specificaţii clar superioare. Dar uneori marca face toţi banii. Eu îl recomand doar pentru cei care vor să se laude cu el.

Mon avis : Voici une paire de collant de marque Nord-Américaine fondée en 1997 qu'on trouve beaucoup en Allemagne. Tout d'abord question taille, en Allemagne et en Amérique, les mesures ont une autre dénomination ; l'équivalent du "Taille 3" par exemple porte la dénomination "40 / 42" ; mais heureusement, comme en France, à l'arrière du paquet on s'y retrouve facilement grâce à l'échelle de taille / poids.

Ce collant porte bien son nom : Glamour, oui, car glamour il est ! Un collant non seulement délicieux à déballer et à regarder mais surtout un régale à porter et à caresser : en effet, ce collant est somptueux, c'est un "20D" et pourtant, on a l'impression d'avoir à faire à un bon "15D" maximum, il est fin, il est ultra doux à porter, et le passage d'une main sur la jambe procure un effet fantastique, très excitant, autant pour le porteur que le "toucheur" : en bref, c'est le premier collant qui me procure un tel plaisir lors de la caresse dans les deux sens !

L'aspect le plus important de ce collant est sa brillance : comme on en voit dans les films, ici le collant est ultra brillant, c'est bien simple je n'en avais jamais vu de comme ça de toute ma vie ! Mes jambes sont belles comme tout, surtout à la lumière naturelle, le reflet de la lumière sur le collant, sa façon de bouger et me gainer la jambe et fantastique à regarder... avec un appareil photo et un flash, la brillance se fait plus forte car le collant renvoi fortement la lumière, c'est justement ce qui me plait, sa brillance "extreme shine" : avec un éclairage d'intérieur type lampe etc. le collant est la aussi au meilleur de sa forme, suffit de voir se mouvoir une paire de jambe dans une pièce puis en fonction de la luminosité ou les zones d'ombres, le collant joue de belle manière : une brillance permanente, y a pas de mot assez fort pour le décrire : c'est beau.

Ma note : 16/20 (17 s'il était moins chère et 18 si on le trouvait plus facilement).

• As long as you can 'serve' other people and their interests, you're a good guy to keep around. As soon as you stop doing things for others, you turn into the bad guy and get discarded. So don't try to please everybody hoping that they will all like you. You will only end up a miserable tool.

• Also, don't spend your precious time planning a meal. It's not a ritual that's gonna add meaning to your day. It's just food. Eat it and get back to your life.
• Don't try to seem someone you're not. It would be like wearing a see-through raincoat on your bare skin.
• Clothes are only meant to cover your body. Spend too much time worrying about the 'outside' of you and pretty soon you'll turn into an empty mannequin.
• Don't fear death but don't wish it either. For the living, death is just a word. It's only for the dead that it means anything.
• Don't waste your time eavesdropping. It will never bring you any good news.
• Don't kid yourself thinking you have friends. You will only have a friend at a time. Man is built that way.
• Learn at least two foreign languages. In this day and age speaking only your native tongue almost makes you an illiterate.
• Try to play an instrument, try painting or any form of art. You'll be good at one of them, it will bring you joy and as it turns out it can be an efficient outlet.
• Don't let your outlet be another human being (especially not your own child). It won't be fair to them and it won't help you either.
• Don't see your child as a means to complete yourself. Think of yourself as a means to complete your child.
• Never let anyone see you cry. ''Releasing bodily fluids'' should always be done in private.
• Embrace music. It will be a faithful companion.
• Always consider other people's feelings. It's not rewarding but it would be a sin not to.
• Don't treasure gold and precious stones. It's just stuff dug out of the ground. Just because other people like to think they're valuable doesn't actually make them valuable.
• Love. It's one of the few things that will add meaning to you as a human being and to your life.
• Read. Books not glossy magazines. It will broaden your horizon and will send your mind to places it wouldn't otherwise be able to reach.
• Don't dread work and don't see it as a way to pay for your food. It will never bring you any satisfaction if you do. And always know the value of your work. Settle for less that you deserve and you'll be a puppet. Ask for more and probably you'll get as much as you actually deserve.
• If you want something done, do it yourself. You'll end up doing just that anyway so you might as well save some time and brain cells.
• Don't envy others and don't try to be like them. Build your own self.

En ese momento una compañera encontró el paquetito de las hojas en que siempre se imprimía, y yo saqué una hoja y dije:

-Yo: Es este?

-: Sí ese...

-Yo: Ahh pero esto no es glossy, glossy es brillante...

-: No no, este es glossy matte...

Pues me dí inmediatamente a la tarea de buscar en internet las definiciones de Glossy y Matte pues para ver si era yo el equivocado, o era una nueva línea de papeles... Le envío el link de wikipedia por messenger, y escucho que me dice:

-: Qué es eso que me mandaste???

-Yo: La definición de Glossy y Matte para que salgamos de dudas...

-: Ahh... No es que así le digo yo, esa es la referencia del papel...

-Yo: ...ups!

Acto seguido, me bloqueó en el messenger, y no se habló más al respecto. Todos quedamos en silencio reflexionando aquellas palabras sabias y compartiendo la misma risa interna.

Supe hace poco, que mientras estuve en una incapacidad, el hombre vuelve y pide buscar el papel Glossy a lo que mis compañeros respondieron:

-Todos: Glossy??? acá nunca ha habido papel Glossy.

-: Bueno, ese en que siempre se imprime....
