The Masters of the Universe, those big-name traders of the City and Wall Street, have a brand new toy to play with: oil.

Last month, waves of speculation pushed the price of 'black gold' to all-time highs.

Although world supply and demand are thought to be roughly in balance, the bright young things working for the investment banks and hedge funds have bid up the cost of a barrel of crude oil through the stratosphere.

Despite some easing last week, the price remains at record levels.

We will all have to pay, and not just at the filling station. Expensive energy means slower economic growth, fewer jobs and less tax revenue, hence less money to spend on health, education and public safety.

Social tranquillity and the quality of life could take a big hit. Thanks, guys.

In fairness, we ought to be getting used to this by now. After all, we are only just starting to foot the bill for the financial elite's last jolly jape: the sub-prime mortgage crisis.

Here, they bundled up huge quantities of flaky American and other mortgages, declared them to be top-quality investments and flogged them to investors - including banks - around the world.

So complicated were these packages of IOUs that nobody was sure which bank held how many.

Once - as was inevitable - low-income Americans started defaulting on their home loans, banks stopped lending to one another because no institution could be sure which of the others could be brought down by these 'toxic securities'.

Northern Rock in Britain and Bear Stearns in the United States were the biggest victims of the lending drought that followed. We bailed out the former, US taxpayers rescued the latter.

And the fallout means there are fewer mortgages available for would-be homeowners, and people with perfectly good credit ratings are having their plastic cards taken away.

Before all that, we had the massive speculative bubble in commercial and residential property in Britain, now deflating with consequences that can only be guessed at, and the crazy boom in dot.com shares in the late Nineties, regardless of the fact that few of the companies involved had ever turned a profit.

The bursting of the dot.com bubble in March 2000 threatened to drag the West into recession, hence those other Masters of the Universe - the much admired central bankers led by America's Alan Greenspan - cut interest rates, flooding the system with the cheap funds that would make possible ... the next bubble.

Bush 'plans Iran air strike by August'

NEW YORK - The George W Bush administration plans to launch an air strike against Iran within the next two months, an informed source tells Asia Times Online, echoing other reports that have surfaced in the media in the United States recently.

Two key US senators briefed on the attack planned to go public with their opposition to the move, according to the source, but their projected New York Times op-ed piece has yet to appear.

The source, a retired US career diplomat and former assistant secretary of state still active in the foreign affairs community, speaking anonymously, said last week that that the US plans an air strike against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). The air strike would target the headquarters of the IRGC's elite Quds force. With an estimated strength of up to 90,000 fighters, the Quds' stated mission is to spread Iran's revolution of 1979 throughout the region.

Targets could include IRGC garrisons in southern and southwestern Iran, near the border with Iraq. US officials have repeatedly claimed Iran is aiding Iraqi insurgents. In January 2007, US forces raided the Iranian consulate general in Erbil, Iraq, arresting five staff members, including two Iranian diplomats it held until November. Last September, the US Senate approved a resolution by a vote of 76-22 urging President George W Bush to declare the IRGC a terrorist organization. Following this non-binding "sense of the senate" resolution, the White House declared sanctions against the Quds Force as a terrorist group in October. The Bush administration has also accused Iran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program, though most intelligence analysts say the program has been abandoned.

An attack on Iraq would fit the Bush administration's declared policy on Iraq. Administration officials questioned directly about military action against Iran routinely assert that "all options remain on the table".

Rockin' and a-reelin'
Senators and the Bush administration denied the resolution and terrorist declaration were preludes to an attack on Iran. However, attacking Iran rarely seems far from some American leaders' minds. Arizona senator and presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain recast the classic Beach Boys tune Barbara Ann as "Bomb Iran". Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton promised "total obliteration" for Iran if it attacked Israel.

The US and Iran have a long and troubled history, even without the proposed air strike. US and British intelligence were behind attempts to unseat prime minister Mohammed Mossadeq, who nationalized Britain's Anglo-Iranian Petroleum Company, and returned Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to power in 1953. President Jimmy Carter's pressure on the Shah to improve his dismal human-rights record and loosen political control helped the 1979 Islamic revolution unseat the Shah.

But the new government under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini condemned the US as "the Great Satan" for its decades of support for the Shah and its reluctant admission into the US of the fallen monarch for cancer treatment. Students occupied the US Embassy in Teheran, holding 52 diplomats hostage for 444 days. Eight American commandos died in a failed rescue mission in 1980. The US broke diplomatic relations with Iran during the hostage holding and has yet to restore them. Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's rhetoric often sounds lifted from the Khomeini era.

The source said the White House views the proposed air strike as a limited action to punish Iran for its involvement in Iraq. The source, an ambassador during the administration of president H W Bush, did not provide details on the types of weapons to be used in the attack, nor on the precise stage of planning at this time. It is not known whether the White House has already consulted with allies about the air strike, or if it plans to do so.

Sense in the senate
Details provided by the administration raised alarm bells on Capitol Hill, the source said. After receiving secret briefings on the planned air strike, Senator Diane Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Senator Richard Lugar, Republican of Indiana, said they would write a New York Times op-ed piece "within days", the source said last week, to express their opposition. Feinstein is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and Lugar is the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee.

Senate offices were closed for the US Memorial Day holiday, so Feinstein and Lugar were not available for comment.

Given their obligations to uphold the secrecy of classified information, it is unlikely the senators would reveal the Bush administration's plan or their knowledge of it. However, going public on the issue, even without specifics, would likely create a public groundswell of criticism that could induce the Bush administration reconsider its plan.

The proposed air strike on Iran would have huge implications for geopolitics and for the ongoing US presidential campaign. The biggest question, of course, is how would Iran respond?

Iran's options
Iran could flex its muscles in any number of ways. It could step up support for insurgents in Iraq and for its allies throughout the Middle East. Iran aids both Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Israel's Occupied Territories. It is also widely suspected of assisting Taliban rebels in Afghanistan.

Iran could also choose direct confrontation with the US in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, with which Iran shares a long, porous border. Iran has a fighting force of more than 500,000. Iran is also believed to have missiles capable of reaching US allies in the Gulf region.

Iran could also declare a complete or selective oil embargo on US allies. Iran is the second-largest oil exporter in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and fourth-largest overall. About 70% of its oil exports go to Asia. The US has barred oil imports from Iran since 1995 and restricts US companies from investing there.

China is Iran's biggest customer for oil, and Iran buys weapons from China. Trade between the two countries hit US$20 billion last year and continues to expand. China's reaction to an attack on Iran is also a troubling unknown for the US.

Three for the money
The Islamic world could also react strongly against a US attack against a third predominantly Muslim nation. Pakistan, which also shares a border with Iran, could face additional pressure from Islamic parties to end its cooperation with the US to fight al-Qaeda and hunt for Osama bin Laden. Turkey, another key ally, could be pushed further off its secular base. American companies, diplomatic installations and other US interests could face retaliation from governments or mobs in Muslim-majority states from Indonesia to Morocco.

A US air strike on Iran would have seismic impact on the presidential race at home, but it's difficult to determine where the pieces would fall.

At first glance, a military attack against Iran would seem to favor McCain. The Arizona senator says the US is locked in battle across the globe with radical Islamic extremists, and he believes Iran is one of biggest instigators and supporters of the extremist tide. A strike on Iran could rally American voters to back the war effort and vote for McCain.

On the other hand, an air strike on Iran could heighten public disenchantment with Bush administration policy in the Middle East, leading to support for the Democratic candidate, whoever it is.

But an air strike will provoke reactions far beyond US voting booths. That would explain why two veteran senators, one Republican and one Democrat, were reportedly so horrified at the prospect.

The White House on Tuesday flatly denied an Army Radio report that claimed US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term. It said that while the military option had not been taken off the table, the Administration preferred to resolve concerns about Iran's push for a nuclear weapon "through peaceful diplomatic means."

Army Radio had quoted a top official in Jerusalem claiming that a senior member in the entourage of President Bush, who concluded a trip to Israel last week, had said in a closed meeting here that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action against Iran was called for.

The official reportedly went on to say that "the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice" was preventing the administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic for the time being.

The Army Radio report, which was quoted by The Jerusalem Post and resonated widely, stated that according to assessments in Israel, the recent turmoil in Lebanon, where Hizbullah has de facto established control of the country, was advancing an American attack.

There is considerable speculation and buzz in Washington today suggesting that the National Security Council has agreed in principle to proceed with plans to attack an Iranian al-Qods-run camp that is believed to be training Iraqi militants. The camp that will be targeted is one of several located near Tehran. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was the only senior official urging delay in taking any offensive action.

The decision to go ahead with plans to attack Iran is the direct result of concerns being expressed over the deteriorating situation in Lebanon, where Iranian ally Hezbollah appears to have gained the upper hand against government forces and might be able to dominate the fractious political situation. The White House contacted the Iranian government directly yesterday through a channel provided by the leadership of the Kurdish region in Iraq, which has traditionally had close ties to Tehran.

The US demanded that Iran admit that it has been interfering in Iraq and also commit itself to taking steps to end the support of various militant groups. There was also a warning about interfering in Lebanon. The Iranian government reportedly responded quickly, restating its position that it would not discuss the matter until the US ceases its own meddling employing Iranian dissident groups. The perceived Iranian intransigence coupled with the Lebanese situation convinced the White House that some sort of unambiguous signal has to be sent to the Iranian leadership, presumably in the form of cruise missiles. It is to be presumed that the attack will be as “pinpoint” and limited as possible, intended to target only al-Qods and avoid civilian casualties. The decision to proceed with plans for an attack is not final. The President will still have to give the order to launch after all preparations are made.

The Duma approved Putin by a vote of 392 to 56.

New President Dmitry Medvedev had nominated Putin to the post of prime minister just hours after taking the oath of office Wednesday in a ceremony at the Kremlin.

"For me it's clear that the government can only be strong and effective if it can fully rely on the legislative power," Putin told the house.

"Based on those principles, I intend to build my relationship with the state Duma. I expect that you will take the same attitude and the same approach."

Putin's confirmation is the last piece of the puzzle to fall into place in Russia's new political scene.

Putin, who spent the past eight years as Russian president, could be taking a great deal of power with him to the premiership.

He and Medvedev, Putin's ally and protege, have said they will rule jointly from their respective offices.

During his time in office, Putin created a network of loyal officials on every level of government -- all appointed, not elected. Putin indicated that tight control could continue.

"We need coherent work of all branches of the government," he told the Duma. "The closest partnership is in the interest of all citizens of our country and successful national development."

It’s now official: The Pentagon is going to resuscitate its Fourth Fleet, with the mission of patrolling Latin American and Caribbean waters. Created during the Second World War to protect traffic in the South Atlantic, the structure was dissolved in 1950. “By reestablishing the Fourth Fleet, we acknowledge the immense importance of maritime security in this region,” declared Adm. Gary Roughead, head of the Pentagon’s naval operations.    Based in Mayport, Florida, the fleet will operate under the double orders of the American Navy and the Army’s Southern Command, responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean. Vice Adm. Joseph Kernan will command the fleet, which should include a nuclear aircraft carrier.

According to Alejandro Sanchez, an analyst at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs, a research center on Latin America based in Washington, “the reestablishment of the Fourth Fleet is more of a political than a military gesture, designed to confront the rise in power of left-leaning governments in the region.” The Pentagon does not trouble to camouflage its intentions: “the message is clear: whether local governments like it or not, the United States is back after the war in Iraq,” Sanchez explains.

“New Threats”

De facto,, Washington’s military influence in the region has diminished considerably since September 11, 2001, and the launch of the “war against terrorism.” Concentrated on the Middle Eastern arc of crisis, the Pentagon did not pay much attention to the political upsets in its own backyard. Leftist governments, now broadly in the majority in Latin America, reproach the United States with the support it gave the dictatorships that reigned over several decades and to the ultra-neo-liberal policies those dictatorships applied.

While Washington assures that its sole interest in the region is combating “new threats” (terrorism, drug trafficking and the Maras gangs of Central America), Latin American people often see it as the pursuit of “imperialist” interests dictated by energy needs. The tensions between Washington and the radical presidents of the sub-continent’s main oil and gas producers (Venezuela, Equator and Bolivia) accentuate that perception.

As a sign of defiance, almost all Latin American countries have refused to sign the American Serviceman Protection Act, a treaty that prevents legal pursuit of American soldiers for crimes committed abroad.

The plan to install a military base in Paraguay, close to Bolivian gas fields, was denounced by Brazil and Argentina. Ecuador has made it known that the American military base installed in Manta until 2009 will not be allowed to renew its mandate. Worse still, Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has relaunched the idea of a South American Defense Council, explicitly excluding all United States intervention.

Washington’s sidelining comes at a time when new sources of conflict are arising in the region, as, for example, the one that pits Colombia on one side and Ecuador and Venezuela on the other, or that between Bolivia and Chile over sea access. An arms race is underway in the region, where governments have taken advantage of the economic revival to reequip their armies, neglected since the 1970s.

American arms manufacturers are no longer alone in this market: some European countries, but especially China, Russia and Iran, are trying to get a footing in a region that also attracts them for its natural resource and energy potential.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey's alleged suicide notes were released today and given full court press by a corporate media that largely refused to cover her statements that she would never commit suicide and the statements of her friends and family who said she wasn't suicidal, but Palfrey's alleged reason for killing herself, that she would be "penniless" upon leaving prison, contradicts the fact that a multi-million dollar book deal was in the pipeline.

The alleged suicide notes are very short (the one addressed to Palfrey's sister is little over 4 small paragraphs) and written in all capital letters.

According to the alleged suicide notes (PDF link), Palfrey wrote to her mother that she could not "live the next 6-8 years behind bars for what you and I have come to regard as this 'modern day lynching,' only to come out of prison in my late '50s a broken, penniless and very much alone woman."

Firstly, Palfrey's supposed fear of spending 6-8 years behind bars does not correlate with the expectations of the vast majority of legal analysts who expected Palfrey to receive a sentence of 2-3 years.

Just a few days before her death, Palfrey herself, "Said she was preparing for federal prison. She hoped she'd get time off her sentence for good behavior. She thought she might buy a place in Germany one day," according to Baltimore Sun report, who noted that the DC Madam was "musing about her future" and had apparently come to terms with the fact that she would be returning to prison.

Secondly, Palfrey's fear that she would be "penniless" upon leaving jail does not correlate with the fact that she was in line to make millions for a best-selling tell-all memoir that was in the pipeline, not to mention Hollywood movies, documentaries, speaking tours and TV guest appearances.

Even establishment media mouthpiece The Washington Post conceded that, "There would have been book deals, movies, forgiveness, VIP tickets to charity balls," upon Palfrey's release and that she would not have been shunned.

Or as the Gun Toting Liberal blog put it, "Hollywood and book deals were waiting to transform her into a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE for spilling her guts," adding that Palfrey would spend three years in a “country club” in exchange for never having to work another day in her life.

An interesting coincidence could be derived from Palfrey's alleged use of the term "Exit Strategy," a phrase with connotations of the Iraq war, to describe her suicide in the note to her sister. Palfrey had previously named retired United States Naval Commander Harlan Ullman, author of the "shock and awe" combat strategy, as one of her clients.

As Alex Jones has discussed in the past, political assassinations made to look like suicide are sometimes covered-up by forcing the victim to write a suicide note under threat of harm coming to their family.

In another development, a ruling issued today by the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiners Office concluded that Palfrey's death was a suicide.

The Tarpon Springs, Fla., Police Department tells reporters that it didn't find any evidence that "would indicate anything other than a suicide by hanging in this case," reported USA Today.

However, with both Palfrey's condo manager Joseph Strizack and her own mother clearly indicating that she was not suicidal and that Palfrey feared that a contract had been put out on her, in addition to the multiple on-the-record statements Palfrey made indicating she had no interest in killing herself and warnings that if she was found dead to suspect murder, an exhaustive FBI investigation and one that lasts longer than a few days should be demanded.

not get hit with some sort of environmental message. Don't get me wrong - I think that keeping our environment clean is extremely important. I just have serious issues with direction in which the environmental movement is being steered.

When did we go from planting trees/protesting deforestation, reducing industrial pollution, and recycling to calling for worldwide carbon taxation? Seriously. I'm not joking. They want to tax your carbon output.

Their logic is as follows; Co2 is a "greenhouse gas", a gas that stays
in the atmosphere for very long periods of time, trapping heat in the atmosphere which makes the Earth warmer. Therefore, if we are experiencing global warming then we need to reduce carbon emissions through taxation to stop the warming.

I have a few issues with this line of thinking. First of all, we need some greenhouse gases or we will all freeze to death. Hopefully, everyone reading this realizes that. In fact, multi-cellular animal life would probably not even exist on this planet if it were not for volcanic eruptions increasing atmospheric Co2 levels to 350% of todays levels, which warmed the Earth enough to make it hospitable. Currently, volcanic emissions equal about 1% of the carbon emissions from humans. I don't agree with the "elites" much, but I do agree that this is a problem. I just don't agree with what they are saying about the source of the problem, and I definitely don't agree with the solution.

Once again, they are using their Hegelian philosophy against us. They find or create a problem with a solution already in mind. They expose the problem to the public in a way that makes us want their solution before they have even presented it. By the time that they do reveal their plan, we think that we came up with it and they are acting on our wishes. This system of "problem>reaction>solution" never works in our favor.

Back in 1991, way before Al Gore made his movie "An Inconvenient Truth" but after he invented the internet, a report titled "The First Global Revolution" was published by the Club of Rome, of which Mr. Gore is a member. This report contains the following statement:

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.... All these dangers are caused by human intervention... The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

This is one point that I definitely disagree with. Corruption and greed are the enemies, humanity is the solution.

Throughout Earth's history, the planet has experienced some pretty extreme climate shifts. Only now, with the presence of humans can this process be knowingly effected, but to what degree? From 1750 (the beginning of the Industrial Revolution) to 1998, the amount of Co2 (by volume) in the atmosphere has increased from 280 ppm to 380 ppm. Natural sources of carbon dioxide are more than 20 times greater than sources due to human activity. However, this is usually stabilized through the photosynthetic processes of plants. Or have you forgotten your elementary school teachings? Co2 is plant food. They take in the Co2 and they give us oxygen. Less trees equal more greenhouse gases.

We need to decrease our greenhouse gases, that is certain. The reason for this is not because of everyone's gas-guzzling motor vehicles, though. The real culprit behind global warming is the sun. It's not just this globe that's warming; Mars, Pluto and others are heating up as well. It definitely wouldn't hurt to end deforestation and start re-planting forests to balance this out.

Most people who have caught on to the carbon-tax scam seem to think that global warming in itself is not real. This is where we differ. I acknowledge that global warming is a real problem, but I think we are being lied to about the source and the solution. We definitely need to do something about our environment (and not just in areas that effect global warming either!) and cutting down on our fossil fuel usage would definitely help, but taxation is not the answer.

Remember what I said earlier about "problem>reaction>solution"? We are now leaving the "reaction" stage and entering into the time of the "solution". The solution that is being sold to us is not the solution to our environmental woes, it is simply another way for our multi-national corporate masters to continue devastating the environment while shifting the blame and the financial burden to us. The people behind the idea of a carbon tax are the heads of companies like GE and DuPont. Do you really think that the financial burden will fall on them? No, because they are concerned with the pollution you are putting out, not what they are doing. They are urging governments to not only create a carbon-tax, but to create "carbon credits" which work as "allowances" that can be passed back and forth between major corporations. This means that they will continue on with business as usual, while we can barely afford to drive to the grocery store.

So who needs to be regulated more, us or them?

It turns out that around 14% of greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation, with 11.3% coming from the retrieval and processing of those fuels. This means that, roughly 24-25% of Co2 emissions could be decreased from reduction on dependency on fossil fuels. So for that, let's worry more about using the multiple sources of alternative energy that are currently available instead of taxing carbon emissions.

So if transportation accounts for only 25%, where does the rest come from? A whopping 51% comes from the combination of industrial processes, power stations, waste disposal, and land use (deforestation). You might ask yourself why I combined all of those figures into one. That is because those are all things that these corporate/financial elites who are trying to tax us can directly effect themselves. So if they are creating half of the problem and we are creating 25%, why are they trying to regulate us? It should also be noted that these people are also to blame for our dependence on fossil fuels in the first place, since they tend to sweep any alternative energy technologies under the rug.

So if the proposed solution of carbon-taxation is not the real solution, what is?

There are many things that we need to do to ensure a clean environment for our children, but the main thing we need to do applies not only to our environmental issues but nearly all of our problems as a planet. We have to start paying attention. We have to stop letting our governments, financial institutions, corporations and the media that they all own control our opinions. Do your own research, come to your own conclusions based on all of the information available, and demand that these people start serving our interests like they are supposed to. We are meant to control them, not the other way around.

I will be more specific about what we need to do in regard to the environment, though. It is pretty simple really. We must revitalize the environmental movement of old. We must become responsible for our own actions and stop relying on people in power to take care of our problems for us. We must put the blame for polluting the Earth back where it belongs. Namely at the feet of the multi-national corporations who are ravaging our forests and polluting our air and water. Also we cannot let the politicians and international financiers who make all of this possible to go unpunished either.

Regulate yourself and those who wish to regulate you. Reduce waste, recycle, and plant trees! The environmental solution lies in ending deforestation. Don't let those polluting fat cats tell you otherwise.

This could turn it all around.

An Arizona state Senator who went public with questions over the official government version of events on 9/11 has provided further details of her position and why she chose to make her views known.

"I guess I define myself as a truth seeker, that is what I want, I want to find the truth." says Senator Karen Johnson, representative of Mesa’s District 18 for nearly two decades.

In an short interview (see video below), the Republican Senator explained that in the many in the Arizona legislature have privately told her they agree with her position but are too afraid or are unable to start asking the same questions themselves. Johnson echoed her previous statements when she told Capitol reporters "There are many of us that believe there's been a cover-up."

"There are so many unanswered questions regarding 9/11 and there never ever would have even been a Commission called for by Mr Bush and the Federal Government if it hadn't have been for the Jersey Girls." Johnson said, referring to the activist group of widowed mothers and wives from New Jersey and New York who have continued to question the events of 9/11.

"When Bush appointed Henry Kissinger, of all people, to head up that Commission, those Jersey Girls asked for a press conference with him. They went in there and started asking him about all his ties with the Bin Laden family... and he backed down." She continued.

Senator Johnson was attacked by the media for voicing her questions over 9/11 last week in the midst of a controversial debate concerning a 9/11 memorial in Arizona which contains phrases and thoughts of residents there.

The Arizona state Senate voted on legislation concerning what sort of remembrance phrases the 9/11 Memorial should include. The legislation would have extracted some locutions that were critical of the U.S. and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

A vote in the Senate Appropriations Committee had the measure passing narrowly - until it came to Johnson, whose vote against changing the memorial's phrases created a tie, killing the legislation for now.

As Johnson explains in the video, the monument was privately funded, placed on privately owned land with no State involvement. Therefore, in her opinion, the State should not claim authority over what appears on the monument, and should not claim to preside over people's opinions of the 9/11 attacks.

As shown in the video below, some of the phrases also hint at government prior knowledge of the attacks and the backing off of the intelligence agencies in the months prior to 9/11. Thanks to Karen Johnson these will remain on the monument for now.

"Who are we as a legislature to tell these private folks what they can and can't do with that monument?" Johnson commented.

Sen. Johnson is renowned for her outspoken politics and devotion to the US constitution.

However, she will not continue in office after this year despite serving nearly two decades, because as she explains:

"I can't handle serving any longer with the folks that I sit with... The majority of them are more worried about passing a bill about talking on your cell phone as you go down the freeway than the fact that our country is falling down around us."

The name "false flag" comes from the old pirate's ruse of flying another country's flag during an attack, thereby shifting blame for the attack to a party that had nothing to do with it. Governments use false flag attacks to push their nations into dictatorship or war. As military experts, we fear that national terror drills, scheduled for May 1-8, could be used to camouflage a false flag attack in the United States.

Strategic Signals

Yesterday an American-flagged ship fired on the Iranian Navy, and now Pentagon sources say that they have been ordered to prepare attack plans. Admiral "Fox" Fallon, the Centcom commander who opposed war with Iran, has been ousted in favor of Bush loyalist General David Petraeus, who has spent the last month accusing Iran for our increasing problems with the Iraqi resistance.

Saudi Arabia has been preparing for nuclear fallout from an attack on Iran since last month, when Dick Cheney paid a visit. Israel has just finished its largest-ever domestic war drills. Israel and the Bush administration are insisting that Syria and North Korea are nuclear collaborators. Syria is preparing for the contingency of an Israeli attack. Iran is preparing for the contingency of a US attack. US government insiders speculate that Bush has promised Israel an expanded Middle East war before he leaves office.

The Neo-Cons are pounding their war drums again, according to Dr. James H. Fetzer, the founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, and he believes that nothing would help them spread their imperial war in the Middle East as much as another 9/11.

Domestic Discord

Inside the US, Bush approval ratings are well below 30%, and approval ratings for the U.S. Congress and mainstream media are even lower. Over three quarters of the American people believe that the country is on the wrong track, and just as many want to end the quicksand war in the Middle East. The economy is crashing as fuel prices are skyrocketing. The Establishment is losing its grip on power. It would take another 9/11 to make the nation forget its domestic woes and resume its lost zeal for the Neo-Con "new American century" of foreign wars and a domestic police state.

In his much-discussed February article, "False Flag Prospects, 2008," http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/08/02/25/may.htm Captain Eric H. May documented the disturbing fact that military and police exercises were occurring at the same time as the 9/11 US attacks in 2001 and the 7/7 UK bombings in 2005. Should a major event occur during the drills, the Bush administration is prepared to implement National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) 51, which establishes dictatorship "in the event of a man-made or natural catastrophe." It is an extraordinary measure, and the White House has stonewalled Homeland Security Committee members from the House of Representatives who wanted to read it. One of those members, Oregon's Peter DeFazio summed up the feeling of many Americans about NSPD 51 when he said "Maybe the people who think there's a conspiracy out there are right."

National Level Exercise 8-02

NLE 2-08 will involve the very highest levels of Homeland Security and the US Northern Command. Both "Homesec" and "Northcom" were established by the Bush administration in the wake of 9/11 to take control of the nation in the event of another terrorist attack. They will be joined by FEMA in the May 1-8 exercise, which is one of the two largest terror drills scheduled this year.

On Thursday, May 1, the exercise begins in Washington, when an explosion collapses the Alaska Way viaduct in downtown Seattle and damages surrounding buildings. Twenty minutes later, terrorists explode a highjacked tanker ship filled with highly toxic chemicals at the Seattle Ferry Terminal. Deadly gas soon permeates downtown Seattle.

Emergency responders come in waves. Police and firemen, first to arrive, are quickly overwhelmed. The state deploys its 22-member Civil Support Team, a National Guard unit, to assess the damage and coordinate support. Later, 100 soldiers from a chemical battalion based in Yakima arrive to rescue, decontaminate and treat survivors. Finally, 5,000 troops arrived to handle logistics and security.

On Monday, May 5, the scenario shifts to Oregon where VX, the most toxic nerve agent ever synthesized, erupts from the Umatilla Army Depot.

The next day, terrorists blow up a chemical tanker in Ferndale, Washington. The county sheriff requests national support, and a Marine Corps chemical warfare detachment from Ft. Lewis, Washington responds.

According to sources at Northcom, NLE 2-08 will involve "robust play," with "surprise injects" of unanticipated events in which participants are "stretched to the limit" and have "everything thrown at them except the kitchen sink." All of this makes it easier for the exercise to "go live" by having a real catastrophe occur.

As the Pacific Northwest scenario is playing out, Washington, DC will be simulating a catastrophic hurricane as part of the same exercise. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to suggest that this puts Dick Cheney back in the bunker he occupied during 9/11.

Mission of Conscience

Many American citizens are deeply concerned about police militarization, and about government and media preconditioning of our nation for future terror attacks and martial law. We recommend that they monitor NLE 2-08 closely. Armed with cell phones, cameras and the Internet, they are the single greatest deterrent against false flag terror.

If we, the co-authors of this alert, are in error about anything, then we invite reasonable officials to investigate us and our assertions at the very highest levels. In the past we have too often met with hostility, evasion or deception by officials involved in terror drills. We have been stonewalled when we have requested access to an extended schedule of unclassified military and police terror drills.

We believe that there is a pattern of official retaliation against patriotic service members who ask questions about 9/11 and false flags.

In 2006, Sergeant First Class Donald Buswell, an Army military intelligence NCO, suggested that 9/11 might have been a false flag operation. Within a month the decorated 40-year-old Iraq war veteran suffered a freak pulmonary embolism, which nearly killed him. After he was released from the hospital, his command accused him of disloyalty for his remarks, and subjected him to an extensive military investigation. Ultimately, he was fully exonerated, and the now-retired Buswell has become widely known on the Internet as the "9/11 NCO." The duty to keep the government honest isn't optional for those of us who have taken an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It has always been difficult, and even dangerous, to serve the American people. We call on all active-duty soldiers, police and first responders to obey their oaths by asking questions that need to be asked, and by thinking twice before blindly carrying out orders that may result in an a false flag attack against their country. We urge leaders of those soldiers, police and first responders to explain that diligence is not disloyalty, and that no one ceases to be a free American citizen by putting on a uniform.

Issuing an alert -- as we are doing now -- is not an instance of "crying wolf," as Bush administration apologists often assert. As military-trained experts, we are convinced that the US 9/11 and UK 7/7 attacks were set up under the camouflage of terror drills. The existence of a wolf is not in question. The wolf of false flag terror has killed our fellow citizens and frightened our country into needless wars. It's our mission of conscience to keep it from striking again.

In an interview with America’s ABC TV, Mr Bush said: "If another September 11 style attack is being planned, it probably is being plotted in Pakistan, and not Afghanistan."

Bush said if the terrorists were planning such attacks, they would be found out.

During the interview he also said that Washington had no intention of attacking Iran, but added that it was the responsibility of the US to convince the world of Iran's capacity to enrich its uranium capacities for a potentially threatening nuclear weapons program.

It was, therefore, in the interest of Washington to pressurise the Iranians to prevent them from enriching their uranium haul.

He said the US was continually gaining knowledge about Iran's activities in Iraq.

Bush said the United States would bring Iran to justice if it continued to try to use agents or surrogates to infiltrate Iraq and harm US troops and Iraqi citizens.

Asked to clarify "bring to justice," Bush replied: "It means capture or kill, is what that means."

April 19, 1995. Multiple bombs ripped through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. As usual, Federal fingerprints were all over this tragic event.

President Bill Clinton, taking his orders from the New World Order chieftains, needed a crisis to get his plans for a socialized America and gun control agenda through. Taking a page out of history’s handbook, Bill Clinton knew that a crisis of this magnitude, including endless images of mangled children would pull on the heartstrings of Americans. They would beg for the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act (S.735) that he had failed to pass just a year before. The bill absolutely eviscerated massive sections of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

We have been investigating the Oklahoma City tragedy for over six years and the amount of evidence is staggering. Let’s just hit some of the key points:

Oklahoma City’s NBC affiliate, KFOR, in a live broadcast immediately after the bombing, reported:

“. . . devastation that that one explosion caused, because here is now what we are starting to learn about the succession, or what someone obviously hoped would be a succession of explosions. The first bomb that was in the Federal Building did go off. It did the damage that you see right there. The second explosive was found and defused. The third explosive that was found—and they are working on right now as we speak, I understand—both the second and third explosives—if you can imagine this—were larger than the first. So try to imagine two or threefold happening what we’ve already seen there. It is just incredible to think that there was that much heavy artillery that was somehow moved into the downtown Oklahoma City Federal Building.”

A few minutes later, Oklahoma City CBS affiliate KWTV’s Jennifer Reynolds had the following to add:

“We just saw, if you were watching, there was a white pickup truck backing a trailer into the scene. They are trying to move people out of the way so they can get it in. It appears to be the Oklahoma City bomb squad—their bomb disposal unit essentially is what it is—and it is what they would use if the report that we gave you just a few moments ago turns out to be correct, that they have found a second explosive device of some kind inside that building. They will back that trailer down there, and the bomb squad folks will go in and they will use that trailer. . . . This is how they would transport the explosive device away from this populated area to try to do something with it.”

At the same time, CNN reported:

“The Justice Department is reporting that a second explosive device has been found in the A.P. Murrah Building in downtown Oklahoma City. Mike, you’re still with us aren’t you?”
[Mike Arnett, an attorney in downtown Oklahoma City, on phone with CNN] “Yes, and in addition to that, what we were told at the scene a few minutes ago was that in fact two different explosive devices were found in addition to the one that went off, for a total of three.”

Another reporter for KWTV stated:

“It has now been confirmed through federal authorities that a second bomb has been found inside that federal building in Oklahoma City. It was an explosion at 9:00 this morning that did that damage you’re look at right there—blowing off the entire north face of that building. Again, you’re looking at the north face. A second bomb was found on the east side of that building. A bomb squad is on the scene. That second bomb has not exploded. We don’t know quite the status yet—if they have managed to defuse it—but it has been confirmed that a second bomb has been found on the east side.”

Oklahoma governor Frank Keating, on the telephone with reporters, said:

“The report that I have is that one device was deactivated. Apparently there is another device, and obviously whatever did the damage to the Murrah Building was a tremendous, very sophisticated explosive device.”

KFOR also reported:

“President Clinton just called Governor Frank Keating. He says that three FBI anti-terrorist teams are en route to Oklahoma City right now. They are saying that this is the work of a sophisticated group. This is a very sophisticated device and it has to have been done by an explosives expert, obviously with this type of explosion.”

A doctor on the street outside the carnage told reporters:

“The medical teams downtown are unable to get into the wreckage to retrieve more of the injured because of the presence of other bombs in the area.”

KWTV reported:

“I just took a look down the street at the Murrah Building again. I see another bomb truck going, so apparently they are going to try to get out that third bomb that’s been talked about. Still a lot of activity around the Murrah Building . . . security concerns that another one could go off.”

KFOR also reported:

“Fortunately, it didn’t, because the second device that they found, we understand, was even more powerful than the first. They then found a third device. You can see the look on this woman’s face—the fear that she might have to go through the same thing again. They then found a third device, which was also larger than the first. Hard to feel lucky at this point, but certainly through some good work by some munitions experts and the explosive sniffing dogs, further tragedy has certainly been averted here.”

Terrorism expert Dr. Randall Hearther had this to say:

“It was a great stroke of luck that we have actually got defused bombs. It’s through the bomb material that we will be able to track down who committed this atrocity.”

It would have been an incredible help to have been able get a hold of those unexploded bombs. Unfortunately the BATF agents, according to police and firefighter testimony, were inside removing them and spiriting them away, because they had to keep their story straight (that there was only one bomb, a truck bomb). Out of hundreds of people we interviewed, we couldn’t find a single person who said they’d only heard one explosion. One witness, Charles Williams, who worked in downtown Oklahoma City at the time of the bombing, said unequivocally that he felt two blasts very close together.

It is historical fact, part of the public record, that there were multiple devices inside the Oklahoma City building and that there were at least two explosions. The emergency radio transmission transcripts show clearly that the police and firefighters witnessed the BATF removing unexploded devices.

We also have the scientific evidence. The University of Oklahoma’s own seismographic reports, as well as the U.S. Geological Survey reports—two different scientific institutions—show multiple explosions. But for there to have been multiple explosions, Timothy McVeigh would have had to have accomplices . . . and that didn’t fit in with the federal story, especially if the reality showed that it had to be a group that had access to a federal building for long, extended periods of time, like the BATF and the FBI.

General Benton K. Partin, former head of Air Force Weapons Development with thirty-plus years running the Air Force Weapons Development Program, has multiple engineering degrees. General Partin was amazed by press reports claiming that the building had been blown in and that a truck bomb could cause that damage, when even a basic understanding of explosive signatures shows that the building was blown not from the outside in, but from the inside out.

Within days of the blast, General Partin was on the scene. He was, of course, barred access. Thankfully, from video as well as photographs of the columns, it was obvious to his trained eye that the columns had been blown off by shaped charges. In a detailed report, the former head of Air Force Weapons Development laid out the physics, the mathematics of this truth. In his report, he stated that it was a physical impossibility that a truck bomb—even made with military-grade explosives—could even begin to generate the explosive force that was brought against the Oklahoma City Federal Building.

Now the seismographs come in. The seismographs first registered one distinct explosion, and then a group of explosions so close to each other that they could not be separated. You see, the Feds had to have a diversionary blast. They had to be able to tell the world that it was one lone nut—Timothy McVeigh—out front. They needed McVeigh’s truck bomb outside so that they could cover the fact that there were actually explosives inside the structure. If you look at the actual crater that the supposed truck bomb generated, it was so small that it could hardly be measured. However,in later media reports that explosion grew bigger and bigger and bigger (Newsweek, May 1, 1995).

Another key piece of evidence that General Partin raised was that a single bomb explosion could not account for the failure of columns that were farther away at the back of the building compared to the non-failure of columns that were much closer to the supposed truck bomb blast. He concluded that the asymmetrical nature of the damage to the Murrah Building was one indication that shaped demolition charges were used in the bombing.

In modern history, thousands of buildings of every type and design have been destroyed commercially to make way for new structures. But that didn’t matter to the BATF, the federal government, or the media. They turned structural engineering on its head, demanding and telling the world that a single truck bomb actually did this damage, even though the blast’s signature clearly showed that the building had been blown out, not in. Not only was the scientific and engineering world shocked with disbelief, but the general public wasn’t buying the story either. They had seen what had happened. Read this news report from Channel Four that aired live on the day of the tragedy:

“Some of the floors have just crashed together. I mean, there are some points where you just literally can’t get in at all. And then from Chopper 4, at some particular points we could see all the way through the building. That’s the force of the explosion. It just blew out the walls and everything inside.”

Outraged by the federal cover-up, leaders from across Oklahoma, led by State Representative Charles Key, banded together to write The Final Report—550 pages detailing this criminal federal operation.

Now let’s look at the cowardice of the BATF agents. You see, they received a warning . . . but they didn’t pass it on to the children in the daycare center.

On KFOR, the Oklahoma City NBC affiliate, a reporter speaks with eyewitnesses who were working inside the Federal building with agents of the BATF. Their faces were blacked out to protect their identities:

Witness’ Employer Speaks: ‘What he told him is that he thought they had received a tip that morning of the bomb.’

Reporter: Yet another witness, a rescue worker, says after she talked with an agent at the bombing scene she also suspected the ATF was warned and agents stayed away from their office.

Witness: ‘I asked him if his office was in the building, and he said yes. And I asked if there were any ATF agents still in the building and he said, “No we weren’t here.”

Reporter: Witness #1 approached an ATF agent nearby. He claims he asked the agent what had happened and Witness #1 said this is what the agent told him:

Witness: ‘He started getting a little bit nervous. He tried reaching someone on a two-way radio. Couldn’t get anybody. I told him I wanted an answer right then. He said they were in the briefing. None of the agents had been in there. They had been tipped by their pagers not to come into work that day. Plain as day out of his mouth—they were tipped. Why wasn’t anybody else? There was a lot of people, good people, died down there, and if they knew, they should have let everybody else know.’”

Oklahoma City paramedic Tiffany Bible, who heroically responded with her unit just minutes after the blast on April 19, 1995, swore in an affidavit that when she arrived the BATF was in full mock gear. Bomb gear takes at least thirty minutes to put on. When she asked them, “Oh my goodness, were you guys hurt inside the blast?” they said, “No, we got tipped off by our pagers not to come in today.”

Linda Cavanaugh, a reporter for KFOR News, reported:

“Were agents forewarned about a bomb in Oklahoma City? Did they know the Murrah Building was a target? The ATF says no, absolutely not. But tonight in a story you will see only on the NewsChannel, you are about hear otherwise from people who were at the Murrah Building that morning.

Woman Speaks: ‘We’re asking simple questions and we can’t get any answers, so it makes us that much more curious, you know. Where the hell were they?’

Linda Cavanaugh: The NewsChannel did ask for a private meeting with ATF officials to discuss the credibility of these witness reports, but the ATF refused saying they had no more to say on the subject.”

Spin doctors say Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, and so did Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma City. And we’re told to believe it,but hundreds of eyewitnesses reported seeing Middle Eastern men crawling all over this operation. Let’s look at John Doe #2.

KFOR Interview:

“As I sat there, I seen that McVeigh was with another person.”

Interviewer: “Do you have any doubt in your mind that there was a passenger in the Ryder truck?”
Witness: “Even more, I have no doubt there was. There was definitely a second person, no matter what. There was two people in this vehicle.”

Representative Charles Key stated: “John Doe #2—there was a $2 million price put on his head. And now they are saying there was no John Doe #2.”

KFOR showed surveillance video of a man running away from the Ryder truck and reported the following:

“Our witnesses picked out a photo line-up. The NewsChannel shared the information and surveillance tapes of this man with FBI. They have had some of that material long before our reports went on the air.

Witness: ‘I was standing in the building and I looked out the window and seen the Ryder truck and I seen a man get out the Ryder truck.’

Reporter: She was just ten feet away from the man depicted in this sketch when he stepped out of the Ryder truck.

Witness: ‘He was olive complexion and he was . . . he had black curly hair. He was wearing a baseball cap but his curls were sticking out of his hat. It was short in the back but you could still the curls in his hair. He was not American. He was foreign. You can tell by his skin, his face, the way his face was.’

Reporter:

We asked FBI spokesman Dan Vogel, ‘Is John Doe #2 still part of the investigation? Does he exist?’ The answer: ‘Yes, we are still trying to locate and identify John Doe #2.’ The man in our reports is Iraqi. Today the FBI says they ‘are not pursing a Middle Eastern connection. This doesn’t mean it has been ruled out. That could change tomorrow.’”

State, local, and federal police around the country actually detained dozens of Middle Eastern men trying to exit the country, many of whom were former Iraqi Republican Guard officers like Al-Hussaini Hussain, who worked at the Boston airport. Despite all this evidence, the Clinton Justice Department said to release them, that they did not want to talk to them, and that there was no Middle Eastern connection.

In the making of this book, our team has interviewed scores of former and current FBI agents, police officers, and detectives who were on the scene and worked the case. They confirmed that they detained members of the Iraqi Republic Guard who were trying to flee the United States. They would search their bags and find blue jogging suits and bomb making materials. They would try to hold them, try to charge them. According to my sources, they could have convicted these men in front of a jury. Still Bill Clinton demanded their release.

Later I interviewed David Schippers, the man that impeached Bill Clinton, the man that brought down the mob in Chicago. Mr. Schippers stated that the Oklahoma City bombing team was made up of the same people involved in the World Trade Center attack on September 11. The grand plan of the Feds begins to unfold.

The evidence shows that the Iraqis were brought to the United States after the Gulf War, that they had previously been trained in the 1980’s for the war with Iran, and that they are now working for the shadow government, i.e. the national security dictatorship. So when the Feds need a crisis to distract the public we all better look out.

Local television stations raised the obvious question: If McVeigh acted alone, why was the Federal Government refusing steadfastly to release the surveillance tapes?
