THE LONG LUNCH komplett umdenken müssen.

Dear Gangster,

Before you go on considering yourself a Gangster dig the video below. To all you wanna be gangsters especially the young ones out there before you consider being a gangster consider being a Scientist, Doctor, teacher, Musician etc. btw being a Scientist for example is very cool and its not only for nerds. Infact, the "nerds" have already started taking over and are in positions of real power and I am yet to see a street gangster in a position of real power. The Jail, the grave or the hospital is NOT a position of power. Also, women go for men with real power ultimately even though they may be giving you a lil' Twat now but soon the nerds gonna rock her world if you don't empower yourself. In the video the artist says "that's gangstar" but I would like to recommend that you replace the word gangster with real man. Be a real man. Be a cool scientist/doctor/teacher etc. I am aspiring. Are you?

IMDB

Release: (2008 )

Runtime: 152 Minutes, PG-13

Starring: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman,

This film presented complex issues of justice and human nature though the interaction of a deep cast of characters in a captivating environment. Though it is disguised as a comic book film, do not confuse the Dark Knight with those campy versions you might have grown up with. I would say that the themes of this film if presented in an equally realistic manner by characters not in the batman universe, would cause that film to be noted as one of the best gangster/ crime movies ever made and it would certainly be praised all around. The fact that it is the Joker and Batman might actually hurt the credibility of this piece. I enjoyed every minute of the film, hardly relied two and a half hours had passed, (even at the midnight showing) and will certainly be seeing it again.

The overarching theme presented by the film is the question, "how will people react when pushed beyond their limits." The most brilliant directorial choice was to not give any back story to the Joker. He is presented as an entity on its own that needs no cause or reasoning. We all know Gotham City is in the middle of a battle between the mobsters and the police. With all of the corruption, the good guys need Batman to gain the upper hand. Enter Joker, who has no purpose but to mess with the equation and stir things up. He is an agent of chaos. Pure insanity. He doesn't really care what happens to him or anyone else, as long as there are long lasting consequences. Throughout the film he tests the limits of various police officers, criminals, and citizens along with Harvey Dent and Batman.

Rather than having this movie be about Batman facing a villain, it is the story of an internal conflict that happens to arise from the presence of that villain. That is why I feel it is completely necessary to have the Two-Face character introduced. I've read reviews where people say they wish that was in the third movie, but that is totally missing the point. See there is a balance created between Lt. Gordon, Dent and Batman. They are all fighting for the same thing, but each has to make a different sacrifice in order to succeed. Batman works with fear and at night, but works alone avoiding the corruption of the city. Lt. Gordon works from within the system, but because of limited resources, he must work with Police officers that he knows are corrupt. Harvey Dent tires to work from within and to avoid corruption. This naive idealism makes him many enemies, but seems to be working with the help of the other two. Joker pushes all three to the limit though.

Through elaborate and exciting circumstances, the Joker creates situations where Batman can not work alone, Lt. Gordon can not trust a large team and Dent is pushed to the edge of his limits. Because of this, Gordon has to fake his own death, so the information does not get to any moles, Batman almost turns himself in, to save lives, and Dent is repeatedly pushed up to take justice into his own hands, even to a further point than Batman.

This is why Two-Face is needed. He serves as a foil to the Batman character, who we all know will not kill villains. That is Batman's one rule, and everyone knows it. The Joker wants to make him break it, just to stir things up. If Batman starts killing, the rules are changed, and the police will not longer be able to work with him, the people won't trust him and criminals will fight that much harder because being tied up isn't their greatest fear. When Harvey Dent looses Rachel, he is put in the same situation as Bruce Wane was. He is now alone in a city where corruption rules and he is going to do something about it. Dent chooses the dark path however and takes the lives of criminals. Two-Face is in no way a villain in the Dark Knight, he is an anti-hero at worst. We have all asked why doesn't Batman just kill the bad guy. I think that is why we get to see the Scarecrow at the beginning. To remind us that Batman doesn't kill and because of that, the criminals will always break free and continue to do evil. The presentation of Two-Face in this way is brilliant, they make it completely realistic and even work in the coin. He is able to remove the guilt from himself by flipping the coin.

This is the biggest internal issue Batman faces and this film presents it brilliantly! Will you kill in order to save lives. The fairy scene shows us a man almost willing to kill the criminals to save himself, but that is not an easy thing to do. As we saw, most of the boat voted to do it, but no one could. The Joker further pushes this issue by telling people they must kill the guy on TV or he will blow up a hospital. The issue is one of boundaries and systems of trust. Who is to be the judge when the system is corrupt, is there a time when it can't be trusted, who are you to decide the fate of lives.

Numerous times there are moments when everything is blowing up and the Joker takes away all chances of hope. It is at once as if the Joker is not there, and in fact Bruce Wane's metaphor for the Devil and at the same time Heath Ledger takes over the movie. My favorite plot twist was that the Joker told Batman the opposite addresses of Rachel and Dent so that whoever he wanted to save most died, and he would have to live with that.

There are some things the movie could have done without, but none, I felt were story wise, just details in the action and logistics of fleshing out the story. Bat-sonar, awesome idea, fits in with the character, but it removes the movies from its own sense of reality. The whole mob thing could have been fleshed out more as well, I wasn't really sure what they were doing most of the time or why they didn't react more and become a entity of their own. That really would have added to things because then you have; Batman, the Police, the citizens, Joker, Harvey Dent and the Mob, all with different motives that conflict and intertwine. Complexity of that sort is rare in Hollywood and for it to be in a comic book movie is awesome. Really there was a lot to chew and I will have to see it a couple more times to wrestle with the issues. I will probably post more then.

As you might have noticed, I got away from a straight up review of the acting and how much I liked it, I think that is cover thoroughly by other people everywhere, so I will be moving more into a presentation of key themes and how they tied together. I would love to hear comments on what I thought, what you thought and if those were the biggest issues, or if I missed any details that add to the complexity.

I guess I just keep finding twist to the typical zombie story. This book has a few twists of its o

I guess I just keep finding twist to the typical zombie story. This book has a few twists of its own. The Damned takes us thru the life death of Eddie, a tough guy, working for the mafia during the Prohibition Era. Back when double crossing somebody or just looking like you might pull a double cross on someone with power meant only one thing...you sleep with the fishes, or the cement or the worms, ya follow?

During this time big shot gangsters where making a lot of money by having control and a monopoly over the vices people had and the law had prohibited. They where tough days but people still got their share of hoochie and coochie for that matter.

Enter twist number one. Eddie works for one mafia boss who had him killed and three days later decided to get him back. From where you ask? Well from an abandoned warehouse front yard where he laid with a second smile around his neck. Apparently Eddie is the victim of a curse where if somebody touches him when his dead that person takes his place in death. So his boss makes him work for him again on a special job with a very important dateline since it will mean the peace between the mafia brethrens. Why use that term to describe a gang? Well there's a good reason for that.

Enter twist number two. The mafia is controlled by demons. Yup, just like you are reading. There are two main families the Aligheri's (Eddies boss) and the Roarkes, that control everything that human enjoy yet they are keeping secrets from everybody but that's not the only thing they control. There is a third family of demons, the Verlochins, which use to be all about punishment and damnation but got driven out of town by these two families although they still keep involved in the whereabouts of the damned and their property.

The plot of this first book, that compiles six individual comics, lies in that job Eddie is sent to investigate. That job includes tracking down a demon bookkeeper and an important list. During the process he not only encounters betrayal, lying, weird half-breeds, fine looking dames and evil and wicked spirits, but encounters a reason to go further. That reason being that what's a stake is not control of town but control over the souls of the people in town and one in particular he would like to see released. So it turns into his own personal mission not only to investigate like your stereotypical gumshoe, but solve this confusing situation that's creating havoc in a temporarily pacified town (that if you don't count his own murder). Of course in the process he manages to get killed a few times, but I guess that's when his curse comes in handy. I'm not sure if he would see it the same way.

I have to say that for a one hundred plus pages book, I went thru it quite fast. I read the whole thing in one night. It was easy to follow and the story was interesting. I enjoy a good zombie story and had not read one based in the forties. The way the big bosses where portrayed as demons and how people behaved towards them, not only was amusing but you would think that's how it really was, considering how fearful people where around the real bosses of the time. The good thing about the story is that you can sort of relate with Eddie, and you get to like him as you read, that's the first key right there for a good storyline. I'm guessing the character still has a lot of growing to do considering this is just the first book, but so far so good. I can't say the mystery remained that way all the way to the end. I mean, because of the nature of the story with the two sides fighting and how third parties reacted, I did had a clue where the story was headed, but even so I think it was written very nicely. I guess it doesn't help the cause that I've read my share of mystery novels.

The book was written by Cullen Bunn, original from North Carolina who has some history writing fiction and non fiction. He founded the Undaunted Press and also edited a small press magazine called "Whispers From the Shattered Forum". His first issue of this book was published in 2006 under Oni Press and he's still keeping at it, working on the new single issues that will make up Vol.2. For a list of his work you can go check his website.

His partner in crime in this book, Brian Hurtt, got started in the comics with book Queen & Country. Since then he has participated in many other books for Oni and DC as well. This particular book was the first time he did everything from penciller to inker to letterer.

On the other hand Oni Press, founded in 1997 by Joe Nozemack and Bob Schreck, was created to release the kind of comics the owners would want to read. Although now it's only Joe at the wheel, he keeps fighting to provide an eclectic and diverse line of comics and graphic novels. The company has a great inventory of books and its main office is located in Portland, Oregon. If you are not a big graphic novel follower, yet you are a fan of Stephen Colbert, then you must know of Tek Jansen. If that's the case, know that Oni is the company that releases the science fiction, comedy issues.

This first volume includes a bonus in the last few pages. It's a short preview of The Damned that was published in the back of other Oni comics to let people know of the upcoming release. It tells the story of how the book actually starts. There is no way to go wrong with this story and all I can do now is wait for Vol.2.

"Gagngster - A Love Story" - great title for a romance movie, there is no end of idiots in Bollywood but hey who cares, the song is just too good to worry about their poor souls! Sometimes they get a few things right - by accident!

We have the original clip from the movie but there is some kissing going on ... Grand Dad may not be too keen for munna to view all this meeting of the lips. Hmmmmm... strictly for young people only!

All she needs to do now is pull the trigger, he has done everything else for her. Then we can rename the movie Ganga Star *winks*. I think I have got a headache coming on hehe ..

The mother of one of Hong Kong's richest tycoons paid nearly 77 million US dollars (S$103.7 million) for his release after he was kidnapped by a notorious gangster, a report said on Wednesday.

Ms Kwong Siu-hing, the 79-year-old chairman of Sun Hung Kai Properties, met gangster Cheung Tze-keung, known as 'Big Spender', days after he kidnapped her eldest son Walter Kwok in September 1997, The Standard reported.

Accompanied by one of her younger sons and Mr Kwok's wife, Ms Kwong offered Cheung 600 million dollars to get her eldest son back.

The ransom in 1,000 dollar notes was packed inside 20 large carrier bags and driven in two Mercedes saloon cars to a quiet lane in Central district, the report said, quoting a source close to the family.

Cheung and his accomplice drove the two cars away with the cash. (story)

The closing party of the Skin:Inks exhibition on July 10 had to be the coolest Hong Kong party in many months.

** editors note, to a word constantly used throughout this album that I have promised a friend I would never say and that I back as one to be removed from this language, I will not say within this review and will censor it. Once a promise is said by me, I honor to death and that is how I am. If you like/ dislike my review comment below and mention what I can do to improve since it is my first review. Thank you.

excerpt from Nas- Sly Fox

"Watch what you watchin', Fox keeps feeding us toxins, Stop sleeping, Start thinking
Outside of the box and, Unplug from The Matrix doctrine, But watch what you say Big Brother is watchin', Watch what you watchin', Fox keeps feeding us toxins, Stop sleeping, Start thinking, Outside of the box and, Unplug from The Matrix doctrine, But watch what you say Fox 5 is watchin'"

This album I have to say is incredible and that is an understatement. I have bumped it for the past 2 days I had the advance copy and have to say its been the best thing I have pumped in awhile.

Nas brings his A game in a album originally with the controversial title N**** that was changed after constant pressure from his label and activists. His mission to desensitize the word though has not changed as only the title, not the content changed. He has songs in this advance copy (not 100% sure its retail) like "Be a n***** too", "N***** hatred", "Fried Chicken", and even "N.*.*.*.*.*. (the Slave and the Master)". He works to provide an opening to a nation that still holds grudges from the past; when we as a nation should be united! The past can never change, but what we can do is change the nation for the future.

I love the messages in his music as well as respect the man for always having unknowns featured in tracks with himself helping bringing and keeping the underground feel he always had. Most people will not like his album and still be on the Lil Wayne train, but those people dont understand what real Hip Hop is. Lil Wayne is on his grind, Nas already is a Hall of Famer. I don't hate Lil Wayne, just personally I don't like his music. I have always been about the lyrics, and Nas brings it.

Favorite songs; Sly fox, We're not alone, Black President, Hero, Breath, Fried Chicken, You can't stop us now, and Middle Finger.

My what the hell, why is this on here song; There is no song that I really didn't like. The song that I did not like out of all of the songs was War is Necessary. Thats still a good song, but out of all the classics, this one didn't hit me as much even though the message is true.

Song List

01. Queens Get The Money
02. You Cant Stop Us Now (Feat Eban Thomas Of The Stylistics & The L
03. Breathe
04. Make The World Go Round (Feat Chris Brown & The Game)
05. Hero (Feat Keri Hilson)
06. America
07. Sly Fox
08. Testify
09. N.*.*.*.*.*. (The Slave And The Master)
10. Louis Farrakhan
11. Fried Chicken (Feat Busta Rhymes)
12. Project Roach (Feat The Last Poets)
13. Ya’ll My N*****
14. We’re Not Alone (Feat Mykel)
15. Black President (Feat Johnny Polygon)

Bonus Tracks
16. Be A N***** Too
17. N***** Hatred
18. War Is Necessary
19. Middle Finger (Feat David Banner)

out of 5- 4/5. Its hard to be perfect but Nas is on his way. Nobody is 5/5 period. Rarely is 4/5, and this rarity here is a classic. Purchase this, Support the economy of good music.

The article that I read came from the STAR online. Click here.

A summary of the article, the traders at Pudu market traded slightly later than the 2pm dateline. For the first time, these DBKL officers came and confiscated their trading umbrella. When the traders tried negotiating with them, they asked for their fish or other items first, or else, there goes their umbrella. These umbrella costs about RM130 per unit. The officers were harsh, and 'acted like gangsters'.

You know, I have seen these officers over-exercised their authority and power before. At that point, gone are their compassion, love for the human race, passion to be of service to the community, grace to the needy and came flying in their greed for money, their coldheartedness towards people, their harsh exersion of power and their blindness to godliness.

I have seen them clamping cars at those who parked their cars at the yellow line for merely a few minutes. I have seen them confiscating tables of hawkers who were just trying to earn a decent living. I have seen them in their worst. Acted like gangster? What's new? They speak harshly. In other words, they are the licensed gangsters, in uniform and has the so-called right to be above you and to make decisions that make your life a nightmare.

Where, oh where, just tell me where are their compassion??

What is happening to DBKL? Why are they so heartless? I believe what comes around goes around. It will surely come back to them one day. Enough suffering for the rakyat. The rakyat has had enough of their abusive ways. Its time that we pray for an alternative solution. Yes, I do look to Pakatan Rakyat to help us. What the current DBKL people do is indeed ruining our lives.

*Praying to God Almighty to save Malaysians from further price increase of goods!*
