QUEBEC -- It doesn't get much better than this.

The top line delivered another huge performance Friday as Canada beat Sweden 5-4 to set up a gold medal game with Russia at the IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Dany Heatley, Ryan Getzlaf and Rick Nash each scored in the semifinal victory to continue their torrid pace at this tournament. They've been far too much for any opponent to handle and have combined for 20 goals in eight games.

Jamal Mayers and Mike Green also scored for Canada, which has won 17 straight world championship games and is one victory away from repeating as champions.

Anton Stralman, with two, Niclas Wallin and Fredrik Warg replied for Sweden.

The Swedes will play Finland for the bronze medal on Saturday while the Canadians and Russians will battle for gold on Sunday.

It's only fitting as the longtime rivals have been the two most dominant forces at this tournament and have each gone undefeated so far.

"You're going to see one hell of a hockey game," Finnish coach Doug Shedden said after a 4-0 loss to Russia in the other semifinal. "There's no clear winner."

Few teams have played Canada as tough as the Swedes over the past 15 years. They had beaten Canada in seven of 15 world championship games heading in.

This game was at times played at a breathtaking pace, with the teams trading offensive chances and showing their skill.

It was the first time Canada played at Le Pepsi Colisee since a couple pre-tournament exhibition games. They brought a taste of Halifax with them here as the team's Maritime theme song "Barrett's Privateers" was played during the warmup.

The Canadians played magnificently in the opening five minutes, outworking the Swedes in the offensive zone and putting several quality shots at Henrik Lundqvist. The Swedish goalie came as good as advertised and made eight saves before Heatley finally got one past him.

He slipped free of defender Wallin and redirectd a Brent Burns pass behind Lundqvist at 5:35. Heatley celebrated by jumping hard into the boards, the most emotion he's shown after any of his 11 goals during this tournament.

The sniper is now tied with Eric Lindros for the most world championship goals in one year by a Canadian player in the modern era. Lindros had 11 goals in 1993.

It was exactly the start Canada wanted as they had the building jumping and the Swedes cowering. But the Canadian players soon started sitting back and allowed the visitors to pick up some momentum before Stralman tied the game.

He stepped in off the point and took a pass from Matthias Weinhandl and wired a shot that Pascal Leclaire could only get a piece of. The puck ended up in the net to tie it 1-1 with 44.9 seconds left in the opening period.

The game really opened up in the second period as the teams combined for five goals in the first 12:29.

Wallin made it 2-1 Sweden at 2:46, moments after Green had hit the post at the other end of the ice. That was the first time in eight tournament games that Canada had trailed but it didn't last long.

Getzlaf tied it 1:12 later on a nice individual rush. He cradled the puck and cut right around defenceman Magnus Johansson before lifting it over Lundqvist's shoulder.

The teams continued to trade rushes and the crowd noise grew. Mayers made it 3-2 for Canada with a hard wrist shot at 8:31 before Stralman knotted the score with his second goal of the game on a power play at 11:29.

Then it was Nash's turn to take centre stage. He took a pass in the neutral zone and split two Swedish defencemen before lifting it over Lundqvist.

The book is clearly out on the Swedish goalie as everything was beating him high. Green delivered the decisive blow for Canada shortly after Sweden's Jonas Frogren had been sent to the penalty box for four minutes after cutting Jason Spezza with a high stick.

The Canadian defenceman raced down the wing and beat Lundqvist high to the glove side with 6.7 seconds left in the second period. Green had a breakout season with the Washington Capitals this season and has been a standout here.

Swedish coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson sent Mikael Tellqvist out to play goal in the third period and he gave his team a chance.

Warg made it 5-4 by knocking in a loose puck at 14:21 before Tellqvist turned the dangerous Nash away on a clear breakaway.

The Swedes pressed hard for a late equalizer but Pascal wouldn't be beaten again on this night. The game ended with the sellout crowd of 13,026 delivered a deafening standing ovation before O Canada was played over the loud speaker.

A friend of mine kindly obtained for me a copy of the game Jump Ultimate Stars. I imagine a lot of you already know what the game is and have probably played it far more than I have. For those of you who don't, Jump Ultimate Stars is a Shounen Jump crossover fighting game for the Nintendo DS spanning Shounen Jump's approximately 30-year history. Think of it as Smash Bros, but with Naruto, One Piece, Otokojuku, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Hokuto no Ken, Dragon Ball, and so on.

This review isn't really a "game review" as I'm not planning on telling anyone to buy it or not. The controls are similar to Smash Bros in many ways, though it doesn't feel quite as fluid and the lack of the "third jump" can be annoying at times. That's just nitpicking though.

Jump uses the dual-screen in a rather unique way. On the upper screen is the action, while on the lower screen is what resembles a comic panel. You the player must construct your own "comic page" out of various characters' famous panels, and these characters are the ones who will be available for you to use in battle. There are Battle Koma (usable characters), Support Koma (Marvel vs Capcom 2-style assists), and Help Koma (stat boosts).

I love seeing the many references, and while a bit tedious I like the logic in many of the unlocks. For example, at one point you get Kenshiro, and through points you can upgrade Kenshiro to more and more powerful versions. It's only when you unlock the Yuria's Help Koma that you can bring Kenshiro to full power, giving him access to Musou Tensei, the ultimate technique of Hokuto Shinken. Similarly, you need Yuria to fully power Raoh, but Raoh only has two battle koma types total: six and eight. Or, to put it more simply, strong and VERY strong. Very fitting for Raoh.

The only really sad thing is that while Jump Ultimate Star has some of my favorite Jump characters, such as Kuchiki Rukia (Bleach) and Kobayakawa Sena (Eyeshield 21), it doesn't have my absolute favorites, particularly Hyuuga Hinata (Naruto) and Souther (Hokuto no Ken). Maybe next game.

PS: The Emperor has no need for PSPs.

PPS: Not really, as Super Robot Wars A Portable looks sweet.

I recently found an "Escape from the room" game that I liked. It's a Japenese point-and-click game called "Vision. Above is a screenshot from part of the game. To play the game, click here, if you get frustrated and want the answers, just give it some time, because the game takes some time, and patience.

Interplay has revealed that it is partnering with franchise creator Doug TenNapel to work on a new Earthwork Jim game, TV series and film.

Other than the tentative title of Earthworm Jim 4, no other details have been confirmed. TenNapel will serve as a creative consultant on all of the projects.

Earlier in the month, Earthworm Jim was one of a number of IPs owned by Interplay that were flagged up as getting the revival treatment.

Yesterday, Interplay revealed that the original two titles would be available through Nintendo Virtual Console in the not-so-distant future.

Yep !!!

Note Personnelle (version Xbox360): 14/20
Note Personnelle (version PC): 17/20

One thing I’d like to do in the distant future is to achieve mastery in the art of game design

One thing I'd like to do in the distant future is to achieve mastery in the art of game design. I pretty much consider it a requirement. Now before you can even do that you have to realize a number of things I imagine. Things such as where you are at now and where you need to be to continue towards the next step on the path toward mastery.

For one thing you need to have the required knowledge to become a master of anything. So the first part of my goal requires learning, lots and lots of learning. Its tricky with game design as I find myself disagreeing with individuals that have an insane amount of experience in making games. And I think that is completely normal because games are supposed to be fun and you are supposed to be creating this fun. Simply put its hard to label something as fun because what is fun for you might be boring or even agonizing to me. A perfect example is Trivia games and games that require you to be loud and possibly take part in embarrassing scenarios. I hate them. Well maybe hate is a strong word, I refuse to play them because I dislike them so much. They don't interest me, they make me angry and I don't want to embarrass myself. Its not fun for me to play those games but that is not to say that those style of games are not fun.

However, It is important to note that knowledge can never be enough to achieve mastery over a form of art. Experience is a requirement and probably the second thing you need to seek after knowledge. You need to actually put your knowledge to the test but that isn't to say experience is more valuable than knowledge. This can be traced back to the individual and how they process information and gain knowledge and experience. While one person can think extensively in theories others have to actually just do it. Personally I love to create theories and play them out in my brain or with notepad or pen/pencil. I know others prefer to just start making stuff but it really is rooted in the way your brain absorbs this information. Either way the truth is you need experience and you need to make games. It is important to every game designer though I prefer to think creating your own theories will play an irreplaceable part in learning the art of game design.

As you gain knowledge and experience you are also struggling to achieve efficiency. This is one thing that pisses me off to no extent. I know that if I had just a bit more knowledge and just a bit more experience I would be able to shave hours off each project and use that extra time to contribute in other areas. I absolutely despise re-doing work and I can't stand the fact that after I do something I found another method that would have saved me time. Though I know these experiences ultimately make me more efficient I just wish there was an easier way to achieve this than screwing up. Wasted time sucks not only for you but for teammates. To achieve mastery you have to be efficient in every sense of the word.

After you gain these things I would imagine that you could possibly master the art of game design but really when is that? Will there ever be a time where you know you've mastered something? And really is there more to mastery than knowledge, experience and efficiency? There has to be. Creativity has to mean something and of course natural talent also will be meaningful.

Kind of strange, I have only started my career as a game designer and I am trying to figure out how I can master the art. It is almost like starting a new game. You're the newb and you're trying to find the best way to become a high level character. I imagine it might have a similar progression line as it would leveling up in a game. You gain a bunch of levels at fist then later you start leveling up much more slowly and you also have to work much harder at it. I really don't know, this is all speculation.

Mario creator and Nintendo VIP Shigeru Miyamoto has defended criticism that Nintendo is moving further away from videogames with Wii Fit, claiming it expands the gaming population.

"What Wii Fit represents and what Nintendo is trying to do with Wii Fit is expand the gaming population," Miyamoto said in an interview with MTV.

"And the reason that is important for them is because as more and more people of different ages start playing - even if it's just games like Wii Fit - their understanding of what video games are and the fact that they're even playing games is going to better their understanding of what gamers are.

"So in a sense what we're doing by increasing the gaming population is strengthening their right to continue to game. I hope they'll keep that in mind."

Yeah - we'll try to do that when we get around to reviewing it.

a simulation of a toy shop, nice idea ...

At the beginning of the game, you'll have a town with four places : beach / street and two others...
You'll have to pick one of the places to create your shop.

As in harvest moon, the place you'll choose will impact the difficulty of the game.

The aim of the game is to put some furnitures in the toy shop and make some workshop to build some toys.

And this is the fun part of the game : you'll have to build yourself the toys you want to sell in the shop. To unlock new toys, you'll need a certain level required. This level is obtained after training in building toys.

To build a toy, you'll have a little rhythm game you'll play with the stick.
Once the toys are built, you're ok to prepare the showcase for the shop and open it.

The clients will then come and you'll have to satisfy them to earn money and improve your toy's collection.

To conclude, this game is quite addictive but a little repetitive while building toys. A mix between a sim game and a rhythm game : what a nice idea for young players !

it's time to review the nds version, after the wii one ...

The game and all the missions will start with images and voices from the movie.
The nds version is pretty close to the wii one even though there are still some differences.
The moves will be done with the cross and in the upper screen you'll have the action, whereas you'll have the next checkpoint direction displayed in the lower left part.

At some points in the game, one light will start to blink in the lower screen : click it and you'll see a cutscene from the movie.

There ain't any minimap in the game, as for the wii version.

Missions are here also very long and very hard to finish. The problem is that the number of checkpoints is huge and you'll have to complete them all to finish the mission.

There's an auto rotate camera feature in the game which is pretty accurate and you won't have any problems with the camera focusing somewhere else from the action.

As the missions are very long, you'll have the possibility to die three times per mission.

In the missions, you'll be killing enemies and tanks from a upper view as if you were in a shoot'em all game.
There are lots and lots of enemies and you'll have difficulties finishing the levels.

At the end of the missions, you'll have the possibility to upgrade your armor.

To conclude, this game is quite fun but you won't be able to play only a few minutes in the transportations. Too bad, the game would have been better if with shorter missions.

This game starts with a fishing boy that meets a friend.
The person discover that Yuma, his little sister can't wake up due to the forest.
Since then, the little child decides to investigate.

In the upper screen, you'll have the informations about the caracter (energy / rank) and in the lower screen, you'll have the action in 2D/3D.

What's this game about ?
Well, you'll start with a tutorial to help you out. You'll discover this game is a fishing adventure game...

Fishing isexplained but is quite classic now : you'll have the possiility to reel, to choose the beat. Plus, when the fish bites, you'll have the now classic tension and energy bars to know if your pushing too hard or not.

To play, you'll be able to use whether the keys or the stylus. You'll also be able to give some strikes left or right to tire the fish.

When a fish bites, the screens of the nds changes and you'll see in the upper screen the view of the rod and in the lower screen a view of the fish in the water.

The more you fish, the more you'll earn experience points and card bonus, you'll be able to trade to have new stuff, as rods, baits, and snacks to restore your energy.

To conclude, the game is quite fun and simple to play, but you'll have to fish a lot before you'll start buying some usable stuff.

This game is a point and click game.
In the upper screen, you'll have the action, and in the lower screen, you'll have a map , informations, options and the next checkpoint.

You'll be moving in the environments using the cross and you'll have to find what to do to move to the next step.

The problem is that even if you know what to do, you'll have difficulties finding what to do next.
And if you're trying to do something that's not the next step, you'll have lts of text to explain you it's not the right time to do something or go somewhere.

Graphics are really poor and you'll be selecting an item even if you want to select something else.

To conclude, this game is quite boring, not addictive at all and repetitive. Plus it's not intuitive and you'll be stuck to many times to have fun with it.

is it a commercial game ?
In the main menu of the game, you'll have adventure / arcade / multiplayer / jukebox.
In the adventure mode, you'll have in the upper screen a 3D environement where you'll be able to move with the cross.
In the lower screen, you'll have a minimap and all the texts.
in the mini map, you'll be able to explore three different places : outside, the first floor, the second floor.

The game is a succession of mini games where you'll be playing with each character of the serie.
The mini games are about : rhythm games with or without music and missions where you'll have to find some items hidden in the maps.

One annoying thing is that you won't have any voices in the game, but only lots and lots of texts ...

To help you, you'll have a board with all the mini games available.
When you'll start a new mission, you'll have to find people with a question mark over their head, After that, part of the map will be highlighted to show you the next place to explore.

There are more than 50 missions in the game.

what a huuuuge name ...

In this game, you'll start with the now classic : play / tutorial menu.
As i don't know what this game is about, I hopped to the tutorial.

Well, the tutorial is quite amazing, as you'll have about 3 minutes of animated video to explain you the game. For sure, the tuto is really clear and complete.
The game uses both screens of the nds and there will be coloured block in both screens.
The aim of the game is pretty simple : if you touch a block from a screen, you'll swap a pile of blocks with the other screen.
Doing so, you'll eventually make groups of blocks, which will collapse.
Destroying them all will destroy the Q-virus and will make you complete the level.

In the play menu, you'll have to go from planet to planet in order to destroy all the viruses.
In the upper screen, you'll have informations about the planets and the number of times you've tried to complete the levels.
In the lower screen, you'll have the list of planets and virus available.

As you can see, the game is like clickomania. But here, it's very very very hard to complete the levels.

To make it a little harder, you'll have only a limited time or a limited amount of swaps to complete the level.
Plus, don't expect any hints to help you.

Oops, I almost forgot... To destroy and make blocks collapse, you'll have to make a set of N blocks (displayed in the screen). So, as you're playing, if you only have at one time less than N blocks of the same colour, you're sure to miss this level.

To conclude, this game is very addictive and takes advantage of many other games. But, it's very frustrating and you'll be trying over and over the same levels to complete them.

after the wii version, the nds' one

well, i suppose you've already red my post about the wii version of this game, so I'll just try to tell you the common point and the differences.

Well, the story and landscapes of the game are exactly the same as the wii version. You'll even have all the cutscenes and the videos you've seen on the wii.
As it's only a ds game, you won't have as many spoken voices as the wii version and most part of the story will only be written.

In the upper screen, you'll have the text and in the lower screen, the action.

Let's talk a little about the action. Here the gameplay is a little different from the wii version : for sure, you'll have the sensitive areas and the magnifier to help you, but here, as you can't use two different commands to click, you'll have an eye and a hand displayed on the screen when ou click on an object.
Choose the hand, and you'll get the object, the eye will be here to examine the object.

Besides it, the game is pretty much the same, with the same inventory principles.

To conclude, this game is the exact copy of the wii version, which makes me regret having played the wii version : I should have played the nds one, as it's really much more addictive on this little support.

Although it may sound wacky its dead on true, Joanas Horde Guide is Obsolete. It might be the most popular horde leveling guide but that doesn't mean it's the most effective. I have been playing world of warcraft since the beginning and have probably tried every world of warcraft leveling guide out there. In fact, yeah I even own a copy of Joanas Horde Guide. But here's the reality about this horde leveling guide and it also holds true to most of the other guides as well. These world of warcraft guides worked great back a couple years ago, but today they are simply in-efficient, their leveling methods are slow and quite frankly have become obsolete.

Now forget about how the Joanas Horde guide is written from the assumption you wish to play as an Orc Hunter, which by itself is enough to show that this world of warcraft leveling guide is old and outdated, because if you wanted to play and follow the guide as any other race and class, you would waste valuable leveling game time in order to do so. Instead I want to look at how playing the game with the use of this guide no matter your race or class is still old and slow.

To do so we need to take a closer look at how the typical world of warcraft gamer plays. This gaming style is probably true of over 95% of the gamers using a guide such as Joanas Horde guide. Here is how typical game play flows. I know this to be true because this is also how I played this game for years until I discovered a better solution. Ok here goes.

You're power gaming through a particular zone. Your goal is to level or power your way through in the fastest way possible right? It doesn't matter if you're looking to complete a series of chain quests quicker or simply grind like a mad man the following formula hold true. All hardcore gamers know that you need to maximize your experience points per hour while minimizing your actual in-game down time. I bet you have heard that before right, nothing new really we all know this but here's what typically happens. Somewhere along the way you get stuck, so you find some tree or rock to hide behind so you do not get ganked and you Alt+Tab over to Joanas Horde guide to find the solution. This might only take a minute or two to find what you are looking for then you Alt+Tab back into the game and you continue to power level your way through the area. Sound familiar? I bet it does because over 95% of the WoW gamer play with this style. In fact I did for years myself. The problem is it really isn't very efficient.

If you were to take into account all the actual in-game time you wasted playing with the Alt+Tab technique you would be surprised. You might think that since Alt+Tabbing only takes a few moments to do you are minimizing your down time and thus are making efficient use of your time. Not so. I decided to put this to the test and I quickly discovered that the total amount of in-game time wasted over the course of say several levels was incredible. In fact it was enough wasted time that if I had not used the Alt+Tab technique I probably would be a couple levels higher then I was currently. This discovery was a huge eye opener for me. While in the short term using Alt+Tab may not sound like a lot of time but the wasted in-game time compounds upon itself over several levels. I needed to get this same information that guides like Joanas horde leveling guide and others like it provides without having to leave the game. I needed to re-think my playing style.

The solution an in-game world of warcraft leveling guide one that sits right inside the game just like a map mod. Thanks to advances in the game engine and in mods available for it, this is now a reality. Once I found one I decided again to put it to the test against my former Alt+Tab habit and see how much faster I could speed level through the game. I quickly found that I shaved almost 2 full days off my leveling speed. I couldn't believe it really since I already have been playing this game for over 2 years and considered myself very fast at speed leveling runs having successfully leveled many characters to level 70 in under a weeks game time. Speed leveling them now in just a couple days was incredible.

So don't get stuck in playing the old ineffective way, while guides like Joanas Horde Guide are good, they also aren't what they claim to be either. Plus they tend to encourage in-efficient gaming styles. George Randall is a hardcore world of warcraft player. His discovery of in-effective playing styles and how by simply using an in-game world of warcraft leveling guide can cut days off of speed leveling runs made the whole difference to his game. For information and a detailed review of the only in-game world of warcraft leveling guide that sits inside the game just like a map mod check out http://www.squidoo.com/ultimate-world-of-warcraft-leveling

World of warcraft speed leveling is all about efficiency. Attaining level 70 in the fastest time imaginable is the goal of every hardcore world of warcraft gamer. There are dozens of world of warcraft speed leveling guides published on the subject and all are fashioned to entice the gamer on this need. Few of these guides are good and some are not. The trouble with just about all of them is they are organized around a specific playing style, with a certain character and with a certain race. Certainly they lay claim to be useful by any character class but happens when you try?

Consider for example the popular Joanas Horde Guide. It's written with the premise that you are playing as an Orc or Troll Hunter. What happens if you wish to play as an Undead Warrior or Rogue? Well, I try it out with a friend. Have your friend create the presumed Orc Hunter and you play as the Undead Warrior (Rogue). Right away you discover that in order to abide by the guides recommendations you must run clear over to Brill with your oh so fast level 1 running speed, wait for the zepplin, fly over to the other side of the Azeroth and then race all the way south to the Orc starting zone. By the time you make it your friend will be level 5 or more. This is a huge advantage for him and not exactly what I would call effective gaming for you. The issue gets compounded by the typical playing styles of almost every WoW gamer.

In order to truly understand secret ways to level characters in wow we must study how 95% of the people play the game. You will discover the accompanying playing style to be dead-on regardless if you use a popular guide Joanas Horde leveling guide or an online WoW database. Characteristic game play follows like this.

You're attempting to sail through a specific zone. Your goal is to finish a series of chain quests in the quickest time possible. Or perchance you're looking for that NPC or maybe you're even grinding as though you were a mad man. Somewhere down the line you get bogged down. The most common response for just about everyone is they go find the nearest tree or rock, hide behind it so as to not get ganked and then just Alt+Tab out to their dependable leveling guide or online wow database, ascertain the information they require and then Alt+Tab back into the game and proceed on their merry way. Sound familiar? I bet it does, as this playing style is so rampant, that it virtually has become a bad habit. As a matter of fact I used to play precisely like this for years. Since the tactic merely takes what feels like a couple of seconds you are tricking yourself to believing that you're making cost-efficient use of your gaming time when in fact you're not.

Here's why. If you were to add together how much game time you waste Alt+tabbing each and every time and keep track of this amount of time up over the course of say several levels, I bet you would be amazed at the amount of time you consumed. I tried this as an experimentation on my last speed leveling run and discovered that I wasted sufficient time to be easily a couple levels higher then I currently was. So what's the answer? What are secret ways to level characters in wow? The short answer is this, quit Alt tabbing. It's a bad habit and isn't very effective and there are better alternatives.

There is no doubt that guides like Joanas Horde Guide used to be great. But think back, these guides were composed a couple years ago and have become obsolete in their efficiency as the game continues to evolve. But because people get so accustomed to playing a particular way they never attempt playing outside the box. What people actually need if they like gaming guides is a way to get this information without the time costly Alt+Tab effect. Thankfully you are able to. Mod developers have now made an in-game speed wow leveling guide that sits inside the game just like a map mod. It's adaptable enough to be used for whatsoever character class you prefer to play and it lets you seize the information you need right inside the game without being forced to go hide behind some tree and satisfy your Alt+Tab habit.

One article isn't sufficient to cover all the secret ways to level characters in wow. So as a hardcore gamer myself I wrote more about the only in-game speed leveling guide with a replete detailed review over at http://www.squidoo.com/ultimate-world-of-warcraft-leveling George Randall is a hardcore WoW gamer that's studied the efficiencies of gamers, their playing styles and how that impacts how fast they can level characters to 70.

Let the fuckery begin. Last time I checked Jeezy had maybe 2 more verses than Andre since the year started and one of 3 stacks verses trumps the shit out of all of Jeezy's. Yeaaaaaaa (it's true).

He can dominate the show on a posse cut with some of his most mic-savvy peers, then successfully facilitate requests from mainstream mainstays like Mariah Carey and Usher, who call him to sanctify their #1 albums and songs with his seamless street swagger. Young Jeezy is at his pinnacle. Don't misconstrue the ranking: He's #8 with a bullet. We fully expect the Atlanta hustler to rank higher next time. After the release of USDA's LP Cold Summer in mid-2007, Mr. 17.5 shut down publicly to work on his top-secret third album and "count all that money." - MTV
