Im subscribing to Fueled By Ramen's channel on youtube, and its quite clever of me. I just saw Gym Class Heroes's new video. The song is on the new CD which isn't to be released before 9th of september. Through that site I also got a tip that another new song, called "the Cookie Jar" was released on Purevolume. To here the song click here. And just press play on the song! It's actually a great place to follow up on a few of my bands.

I'll be going to their concert in London, Astoria 2, on the 18th of September! I cant wait! I just hope I get the tickets in time :P Sending them all the way to Norway might be tricky!

Here's the new video:

I have a very love/hate relationship with the Hush Sound.

Beautiful beautiful music, but Greta's voice is either truely angelic (see: Hurricane ) and in other songs, I feel myself cringing (see: Honey ), Bob Morris' voice is phenomenal, reminds me a lot of Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco.

On Panic at the Disco. I surprisingly like some of their songs off of Pretty. Odd. Haven't bought the cd or anything, just when watching fuse or something I won't change the channel is digust if one of their videos come on. I can't really listen to them much, for their very tainted for me, I know that you shouldn't judge a band by their fans, but it's very hard not to sometimes. For instance, if you liked this band, and you were talking to a fellow fan, and they were being huge jerks, it's hard to listen to the band the same again. I know I'm not alone in thinking this, but I also like to see it as, if somebody in a band does a horrible crime, I would stop listening to them for the same reasons.

I don't know if this a rant or not? It's more of me, just getting it out because I have nobody to talk to this about, school ended today (for me atleast!) yey!

Lead singer, Hayley Williams, of Paramore is not happy with her pathetic ex-stepfather's actions. The low life is selling Williams' items on Ebay, and she's blogging about it.

Here's the following blog:

ebay revenge.
so... i've decided to do this. it was only half thought out but i'm doin it anyways.

i saw that post someone made about the "handwritten book" on ebay. yes, it's mine. hahah. i don't remember being a sad child but i definitely loved horror films at a really young age. i guess that was reflected in this particular assignment. anyway, that's not exactly what i'm posting about. i'm actually posting about the seller of this item. it happens to be my ex-stepfather. who is... well... insane, hence the reason he is my EX-stepfather. so, while i can laugh at the fact that a bit of my past has surfaced, i have to admit i felt like throwin shit when i saw the username. to be honest, i'd love to post his full name. where he works. possibly a phone number??? then all of you could show him what it feels like when your personal life is out there for everyone to put their hands on. fortunately for him... living with him for 7 years wasn't quite enough to make me turn out just like him... or was it?
don't buy it. i'm gonna buy it. hahaha.

Paramore is an awesome alternative band. They decided to name their band from the word paramour but they spelt it different, Paramore. The band consists of four people Hayley Williams (lead singer/keyboard), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar), Zac Farro (percussion), and his brother Josh Farro (lead guitar/backup vocals). Although Hayley Williams and Josh Farro already have two jobs for the band, they also write all the songs. They write the music and lyrics and than all the band members get the sound and arrangement. They released their first album in 2005 (when they Hayley Williams was only 17 and Zac Farro was only 15) called All We Know Is Falling. With great hits on it like “Emergency” or “Pressure” and “Brighter” (those are my favorite) The album itself did pretty good. It reached number thirty on the Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. In 2007 Paramore released their second album called Riot! This is the better album of the two. It has hot songs like “Misery Business” or “Crush Crush Crush” and “That’s What You Get”. This album is doing excellent, they are doing the final Riot! Tour starting July 25th. While they are on tour Taylor York is playing rhythm guitar as a touring member.

I personally love this band. All the songs that I have heard by them are fantastic. Not a single bad one. I love Hayley Williams voice. It is so powerful and she is only 19 years old. I love their music because it is so unique and always has a beat that is just ridiculously catchy. My favorite song by them is “Misery Business” and it is also the first song I heard by Paramore. I love the music video for the song too because it always makes me laugh. In the music video it looks like the band is really having fun, and I like knowing that the band enjoys what the are doing. It makes me happy to listen to them. My second favorite song by them is “Crush Crush Crush” it is so up beat. You can’t just sit still and listen to it. You have to move in someway whether it is tapping your foot or clapping your hands or nodding your head or doing air guitar. Ha-ha. You have to move because it is an exciting song.

Over all, they are an awesome band. I think they are unique compared to all the other alternative bands. They bring a lot to the music table.

TechDirt has some good follow up to a post in the NYT about indie record label Fueled By Ramen.

"It produced Panic at the Disco's debut album for just $18,000, allowing it to make its money back even if the album doesn't sell hundreds of thousands of copies. Finally, it seems to understand that the real money is in using the music as a way to market the band, and to use the band's popularity to sell scare goods related to the band."

I believe this is part of a general trend in labels (outside of the fast-dying majors) who realize that they can no longer make their money selling albums but instead must sell a band. Now that bands don't need the label's money as much to make the record they need the support and guidance to keep things going once they get out of the studio.

Unlike Panic at the Disco, their counterparts on the Fueled By Ramen label, The Hush Sound has not

Unlike Panic at the Disco, their counterparts on the Fueled By Ramen label, The Hush Sound has not undergone a massive musical shift. With their third albm, Goodbye Blues, the Chicago-based band has kept much of the same sound- a rockin’ piano, infectious hooks, and the one-two punch of vocalists Greta Salpeter and Bob Morris.

However, the piano-rock, power-pop band HAS changed things up just a bit. Salpeter’s voice is more bluesy and powerful than on their past albums, Like Vines and So Sudden. In addition, Salpeter has taken the helm of the band, with lead vocals on 9 of Goodbye Blues’ 13 tracks. In the past, her songs were shared more equally with Morris. This time around, it’s her album.

Salpeter taking the lead is not a bad thing. Although Morris’ songs on The Hush Sound’s previous efforts were catchier, the most head-bopping, foot-stomping songs on Goodbye Blues come from Greta. The album’s lead single, “Honey,” is a rollicking jam with Salpeter busting out her bigger, darker voice.

Still, Greta’s best tracks come when Morris joins in, providing the best musical moments on all three of their albums. This happens notably on Blues’ three highlights: “The Boys Are Too Refined,” “Medicine Man,” and “Love You Much Better.” In all three, Morris chimes in with his trademark “woah-s” and “ba-da-da-da-s.”

“The Boys Are Too Refined” is dark and peppy, and the best example of The Hush Sound’s newer, bluesy style, with Salpeter belting over her pounding piano, “And if the timing is right, to sneak off into the night, I’ll let myself be taken just for the thrill.”

“Medicine Man” is an extremely well crafted song, going from a boom-clap beginning to strings, then to Morris’ low chants.

“Love You Much Better” is a retro track, and one that shows off the other new direction The Hush Sound has gone with their music: old school. Salpeter and Morris have admitted that the sound of Goodbye Blues is influenced by early American cabaret music, and this song is a clear example. An upbeat piano melody along with a stomping drum beat builds up to the two vocalists la-la-la-ing together in a part you can’t help but bop your head to.

Not all of The Hush Sound’s tunes are happy, however. The powerful ballad “Hurricane” also brings out the best in Salpeter’s more controlled voice, as she shows it off with power and a beautiful falsetto. Her poignant lyrics anchor the song throughout. “You’re the finest thing I’ve ever done, the hurricane I’ll never outrun, I could wait around for the dust to still, but I don’t believe that it ever will.”

Morris’ tracks are more limited musically. He takes the lead on “As You Cry,” “Not Your Concern,” and “Hospital Bed Crawl.” All three of these songs are very catchy and fun, and they flow along nicely within the album. Still, they feel slightly repetitive, and none stand out the way some of his older tunes have (see “Crawling Towards The Sun,” “Sweet Tangerine,” and “We Intertwined”). A major problem is that two out of Morris’ three (the odd song out being “Hospital Bed Crawl”) are fronted by his guitar and not by Salpeter’s piano. This, along with his voice sounding rougher than normal, leads to more of a rock feel to his songs, instead of the piano-power-pop the band usually aims for. Even with these problems intact, Morris has a lovable voice and his songs are still very good. But his best moments on Goodbye Blues come when he’s singing in the background.

Another standout track on Blues is “Break The Sky,” the airy and happy album closer with a “haven’t I heard this before?” chorus.

The album’s other two “normal” songs are “That’s Okay” and “Molasses.” Both songs are fine but forgettable. “That’s Okay” is a peppy ballad that doesn’t match the emotion of “Hurricane,” while “Molasses” is a simple song that seems to be missing something.

Goodbye Blues is rounded out by it’s opening “Intro” and it’s interlude “Six.” The intro is strange, operatic, and a bit creepy as Salpeter sings muffled behind a piano. The sound is raw, and it does not give listeners a good impression of what’s to come, but the intro does sound very original, and interesting. “Six” is strange as well, working as a 2 minute “interlude” in the middle of the cd. It has been accurately described as poppy elevator music, with a simple piano and drum beat driving it along. Like all of the other songs within the album, it flows along well.

In terms of lyrics, The Hush Sound tends to be very abstract and simple. But hey, so does Vampire Weekend! Still, there are some very good lyrical moments with clever metaphors and rhymes. On “As You Cry,” Morris sings, “As you cry, I wanna lie, say I love you so, darling even though, I don’t. There’s no easy way, to ease the pain.” Although clever lyrics like these are scattered throughout, the majority of the album contains simple songs about love and loss without deep lyrical meaning.

Overall, The Hush Sound has created another catchy, upbeat piano-pop album that is hard to say no to. Although some songs don’t necessarily stand out on their own, the album as a whole experience is fun and quick, maybe 2 tracks too long at 40 minutes and 13 songs. Recommended.

Listen to "Honey" and "Medicine Man" on their MYSPACE!

their new cd, Pretty. Odd. dropped yesterday. i had no immediate plans to purchase it, but a copy of the Deluxe Edition arrived at my door, courtesy my friend Anna at Fueled By Ramen.

And ever since yesterday, I've had nothing but good things to say about this band. They shed the over-the-top dramatic dance-influenced sound, and adopted a softer more eloquent sound.

I highly recommenced the cd, and if you buy it at all, go the route of the Deluxe Edition. Its rather nice.

Ohmygodd so by now you should already know that I watched the Jonas Brothers Concert. Well I will be

Ohmygodd so by now you should already know that I watched the Jonas Brothers Concert. Well I will be watching the Jonas Brothers again soon. But this post will not be discussing the Jonas Brothers.

I love Panic! At The Disco. Personally, I'm more obsessed about Panic! At The Disco than Jonas Brothers. I loved them in their first album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" and I'm going to love their second album too, as soon as I buy the CD.

I love the song "Nine In The Afternoon." As soon as you start playing it, you're just going to want to hit play again and eventually just the "loop" button because that's seriously how bomb it is. But, I don't like the beginning of the video. Seriously, it was weird. Just watch below.

Ohmygodd I want to watch their concert so badly but it's like all the way in Anaheim and the concert is probably sold out already.

But I'm not like those fans who are obsessed with Brendon Urie. I'm obsessed with someone else. I'm obsessed with Jon Walker.

Jon Walker is the bassist of Panic! At The Disco. He replaced Brent Wilson, the guy who quit. Jon is really good, he seriously is. So here's some of his pictures.

Can't you just stare into his eyes all day!

People, I don't know why you're obsessing about Brendon Urie when Jon Walker is obviously the hottest one. Actually, Ryan Ross is pretty hott too. lol Which in the picture below, Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross were making out...lol

Update: I just barely realised that I accidentally put Brendon and Jon instead of Brendon and Ryan. Thanks for the people who pointed that out. Sorry guys. Jon Walker is straight. At least I think so.

You’ve probably noticed by now, but the labels are really plugging out the Really Really Ridic

You've probably noticed by now, but the labels are really plugging out the Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour these days. They are a bit subtle about it, though, so here's an overview for you guys.

THE BANDS: (click on images for samples)

Cobra Starship
Labelmates: Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is...
Rocks like: JT + Almost Here-era TAI with a little Latin flavor (lead Gabe Saporta is from Uruguay)

We the Kings
Labelmates: Fountains of Wayne, Joss Stone, Baha Men, Tom Jones
Rocks like: Boys Like Girls, Sing It Loud

Metro Station
Labelmates: ??? (signed to columbia/red ink. do you know how many bands are on columbia? yeah, exactly.)
Rocks like: Old music. But new. Please don't ask us to describe it to you.

The Cab
Labelmates: See CS
Rocks like: Generic FBR stuff. Kind of like Paramore, but, of course, sans-girl. Definitely check out the video for I'll Run anyways for CS screwing around at the beginning :)

I HIGHLY recommend trying to get last minute tickets for these shows - even the lineup tells you it's going to be good! My show is in March, so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

More random crap after the jump.

THE DATES:

Find out here if your town is on the list of stops. Hurry, most shows are already sold out!

THE PROMOTION:

So first, Metro Station's Shake It pops up on the iTS free download as the first one even looking at in ages. Then the tour's announced. And suddenly, Cobra, WTK, and Metro Station are EVERYWHERE. (in ur house, eating ur foodz!) We the Kings recently had their single Check Yes Juliet as a free download as well. Cobra's getting all buddy buddy with MTV.

Go ahead, blame me for pimping them out even more, haha. But they are really worth it.

Cobra Starship’s new album,¡Viva La Cobra! is now is stores. You guys should buy this album ca

Cobra Starship's new album,¡Viva La Cobra! is now is stores. You guys should buy this album cause its the bomb!Seriously,i've never heard any songs from their previous album(maybe its because its never been played on the radio stations here in Malaysia) but the first time i heard The City is at War,I immediately fell in love with Cobra Starship.Below is their new song,The City is at War.

My favorite part of the song, Bang!Bang! shoot em shoot em up,yeah!

Cobra Starship consist of:

Gabe Saporta - Vocals
Ryland Blackinton - Guitar
Alex Suarez - Bass
Nate Novarro - Drums
Victoria Asher - Keytar

They're under the label,Fueled by Ramen(i thought Ramen was pronounced as Raymond.haha) and Decaydance(Pete wentz's own record label,i think).Fueled by Ramen produces the best bands ever such as Cobra Starship,Paramore, The Academy Is...,Fall Out Boy,Gym Class Heroes,Panic at the disco and many more.

¡Viva La Cobra! is produced by Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy.And what can I say,he did and awesome job!seriously. Some songs on the cd kinda reminds me of some Fall Out Boy songs. Peeps,if you like Fall Out Boy(or used to be fan),ya'll should go get the album, cause it sounds nothing like it.Its different in a way. There's still that rock element in it even though its more retro,dancy-poppy kinda like.

The BBC have published an interesting interview with US pop-rock band Paramore's lead guitarist / songwriter Josh Farro on their News site.

They revealed that their favourite bands are Jimmy Eat World, the Foos and, in a comment that was no doubt sparked simply to keep the British fans keen, they "love Muse".

Their favourite shop is apparently Topman. Bizarre, no? I mean I like Topman as much as the next guy, but leaders in youth fashion fit for the Grammys they are not.

They are also doing a typical Fueled By Ramen stunt in that they are releasing another single they've already released before in the form of Misery Business.

Q: How important is your faith to your music?

Our faith is very important to us. It's obviously going to come out in our music because if someone believes something then their worldview is going to come out in anything they do. But we're not out here to preach to kids, we're out here because we love music. We do believe that God has blessed us with an opportunity to be in a band and tour the world and we're going to use this gift to the full potential.

Read the whole interview with BBC News Entertainment reporter Ian Youngs.

u-k.net is a new GCH (gym class heroes) site. By far, it is the only one on the web that is of good quality, and not to mention good people ; )

There are a lot out there but they're mostly just full of info. At u-kids you'll not only get good info but pics, avatars, links to vids and music, GCH news & updates and some bombass affiliates lol

Not to mention, Travie mentioned us on his blog. So that's reason enough to check us out!
