Madrid, 30 de septiembre de 2008. Desde hace tiempo, las viejas ideas que regían el mercado de la publicidad han dejado de tener vigencia. La crisis económica y los cambios en los hábitos del consumidor han puesto de manifiesto la necesidad de un replanteamiento urgente de la validez de un modelo desfasado. Todas las empresas hablan de cambios, pero en la mayoría de los casos se quedan en el nuevo vocablo de moda. En su momento se hablaba de ‘360º’ y ahora, de ‘integración’. Lo cierto es que, como siempre, siguen divididas por disciplinas y cada una se concentra en ofrecer al cliente una solución en función de su especialidad, no de las necesidades reales de éste.

Dommo Companies es un grupo de empresas de comunicación que nace para ofrecer una propuesta nueva de modelo de negocio. En ella, las personas, el consumidor, está en el centro. Y desde allí se desarrollan ideas que no lo dejen indiferente. Estas ideas nacen libres, no encasilladas en un medio o soporte. Es por eso que sólo una vez que se tiene la idea se piensa en el medio sobre el que se va a hacer realidad.

Este concepto es el que en Dommo Companies se ha llamado ‘media neutral’. Es decir, la agencia no tiene preferencia por ningún medio en particular, ya que el consumidor salta de uno a otro sin ningún patrón particular. El consumidor, por tanto, es el medio.

Un nuevo concepto de comunicación

Para hacer esto realidad, Dommo Companies se ha estructurado en tres empresas diferentes e independientes entre sí. En esta particular cadena de valor se encuentra, por un lado, Dommo Creative Center, que se encarga de la estrategia y de las ideas. Doingwow! es la agencia de producción creativa y servicios de marketing que se encarga de hacer realidad esas ideas y, por último, Fly me to the Moon es la agencia de comunicación que canaliza esas ideas para que lleguen a los medios.

Esta es también una de las grandes diferencias de Dommo Companies con respecto a otras agencias, ya que no se concibe la comunicación como un mero altavoz de las acciones que realiza la agencia, sino que se la incorpora a todos los eslabones de la cadena productiva, para que el enfoque en comunicación esté presente desde que nace la idea.

Tras cuatro años, una nueva etapa

Dommo Creative Center nació hace cuatro años para ser una agencia de ideas. Y ése es el espíritu que ha querido mantener desde entonces. ¿Por qué dommo?
Dommo Companies nace como respuesta a la insatisfacción generalizada del sector de la publicidad y el marketing. Los modelos de negocio actuales han perdido validez; están rotos y las soluciones de publicidad que se dan son cada vez más ineficaces. Desde el nacimiento de Dommo, nos dimos cuanta de que lo que realmente era importante eran las ideas, más allá de las clasicas campañas de publicidad.

Somos una agencia de ideas independiente y neutral en medios. Lo que significa que primero pensamos y luego vemos cuáles son los mejores medios para llegar a nuestro target. Entonces, ¿por qué habéis creado Doingwow!?

Nadie nos daba una respuesta convincente en producción creativa. Una vez pensábamos el QUÉ necesitabamos saber CÓMO. Así que decidimos crear una agencia que hiciera que las ideas que pensábamos se hicieran realidad. Daba igual si se trataba de un spot o de colgar un coche en una estación de esquí.

Necesitabamos crear y formar a los mejores especialistas en producción. Mientras Dommo piensa QUÉ debemos hacer, Doingwow! piensa CÓMO. De este modo hay creatividad en las dos vertientes.

¿Y Fly me to the Moon?

Fly me to the Moon surge de la idea de que hasta ahora las agencias de comunicación eran más gabinetes de prensa y redactores de notas de prensa que autenticas agencias dedicada a "hacer famosas las marcas". Por eso la hemos integrado en Dommo; para hacer famosas no sólo las marcas de nuestros clientes sino también sus campañas. Aunque mantenemos el nombre, el equipo está integrado dentro de las paredes del grupo y tambien dentro de los procesos creativos.

¿Cuál es la cadena de valor?

En vez de dividirse en disciplinas, lo que implicaría una cadena de valor de 8 o 9 eslabones (brief, plannig, idea ATL, idea en digital, idea en direct, idea en eventos, producción, RRPP, planning y compra de medios...), lo nuestro es sencillo:

1. Dommo Center piensa en la idea. El qué.

2. Doingwow! la hace realidad, en cualquiera que sea el medio. El cómo.

3. Fly me to the Moon la Creative la hace famosa.

Sois sólo 50 personas. ¿Podéis llevar clientes grandes?

Lo importante no es cuántos somos sino cuánta gente dedicamos a cada cliente. La media en Dommo es de cuatro personas por cada uno, muy por encima de las cifras de la industria.

¿Qué os hace diferentes?

La típica agencia de publicidad ve los problemas del cliente a través de sus propios recursos fijos y de sus capacidades básicas. Así que si vas a la agencia de publicidad tradicional, a pesar de los problema reales del cliente, la agencia llegará sí o sí a la misma solución: el spot de 30 segundos. Si vas a una agencia de marketing directo, pues lo mismo, y así sucesivamente... Naturalmente esto no es una sorpresa, ya que están diseñadas y estructuradas para dar exactamente eso.

Nosotros creemos que estamos más capacitados para dar publicidad de verdad. No estamos ni ideológica ni estructuralmente obligados a dar una solución determinada. Nuestros modelos de negocio nos permite elegir nuestros recursos en función de las necesidades del cliente.

Sí, pero esto tambien lo hacen las agencias que tienen varias divisiones y juntan a sus equipos.

No, las agencias holding, aquellas que tienen distintas cuentas de explotación: división de marketing directo, división de eventos, división de diseño, división de publicidad, etc. Presentarán una solución que será el resultado de sumar cada una de las especialidades de la agencia; si tiene cuatro, pues la solución será un spot, traducido a marketing directo, puesto en el site del cliente y con un evento similar. Para nosotros la solución sólo viene determinada por el problema y empleamos una o veinte disciplinas, las que necesite el problema.

¿Media-neutral significa que no ofreceis medios?

Uno de nuestros principios es que la creatividad y los medios son inseparables. No pueden funcionar como dos mitades. El contenido sólo puede existir en el contexto en el que se basa. Es tan importante la forma como el fondo. Cuando empezamos un brief es imposible determinar dónde termina la cretaividad y donde empiezan los medios. Todo debe de estar integrado. La planificación, que es lo diferencial, lo tenemos dentro de Dommo, mientras que la compra la hacemos a través del grupo Carat, en el que tenemos las herramientas y el volumen para dar el mejor precio. Barajamos a medio plazo crear nuestra propia agencia de medios.

I don't know if it is the fact that I saw the movie in an imax theatre with 3d glasses, but I enjoyed the film. Actually it was really fun and when the astronauts landed on the moon and took the first steps I was touched. What' s wrong with me?

This trailer was the reason I didn't want to see the film at the first place, but then I said "Imax theatre, 3D glasses" and then I took the chance.

• Hellboy II: The Golden Army

One of the later US summer releases to hit our shores, but based on what I have heard, the wait could very well be worth it. While the first “Hellboy” was fine and enjoyable, ever since Guillermo del Toro tapped into his breathtakingly creative subconscious, expectations for his latest endeavourer bridging the gap between fantasy and more fantasy. In del Toro’s latest, you have your good people (your cigar smoking Hellboy, your fiery Liz, Abe Sapien, et al) and your bad people (the Golden Army), and a near guarantee for shameless enjoyment, if that’s your kind of thing. Craig Kennedy says, "Forget about what you know or think you know about the original Hellboy movie. Hellboy II: The Golden Army is something else altogether." I don't know about you, but that is exactly what I want.

• In Bruges

I saved my review of the film that I saw back in June for its South African release, and I doubt many people will see it as it is playing on the art circiut here and whenever the trailer played, dead, awkward silence followed. I do hope my review encourages some SA bound folks to see it, it is totally worth it. "Martin McDonagh’s debut feature length film plays out like a melancholy modern fairytale, with pitch-black dark comedy, spiritual mayhem, and maniacal absurdity all blended together in what has become something of a signature style of filmmaking for the Academy Award Winning director (he won Best Live Action short for “Six Shooter” back in 2007, before that he was a playwright). A fusion of stark desolation, profane humour, hyper-violence and vivid peculiarity make up the threads that, when weaved together, form “In Bruges,” a tonally fluctuating example of metamorphic cinema at its most entertaining." Kevin Costner, whose career almost brings tears to my eyes, stars a loafer who gets to cast the deciding vote in a fictitious presidential election between Dennis Hopper and Kelsey Grammer, with the entire thing brought on by the only good thing he ever produced, his daughter.

• Fly Me To The Moon

Three flies sneak aboard the Apollo 11 spaceship and get to watch history unfold right before their eyes. Strictly for uneducated children and the mentally disabled.

• Space Chimps

Another one for the mentally handicapped and those who don’t mind their old-school type of animation about chimp astronauts launching into space to retrieve a lost spacecraft.

• Brideshead Revisited - Barry Ronge Preview, 21 September

Barry says, “Brideshead Revisited” is a dramatic re-examination of the 1940s novel by Evelyn Waugh, which tackles the gay theme of the novel head-on. Emma Thompson heads a dazzling cast in a sumptuously staged classic." "Brideshead Revisited” will be screened at Monte Casino on Sept 21. The film ispreceded by refreshments at 5:00pm and the film starts promptly at 5:30pm. Should I go?

• Air France Film Festival

Barely advertised with the exception of handing out a few booklets about the fest, the Air France Film Festival, like most SA-hosted festivals these days, is one filled with recycled gems and one or two virtually unseen films. Obvious standouts include “Roman de Gare,” which played at last years festival as well but I missed it, “Paris, Je T’aime,” which played at the festival in 2006, Spinning into Butter, with Sarah Jessica Parker that is never going to be released in the US I don’t think, “My Friends, My Lovers” by Lorraine Levy and “The Witnesses” and older gems such as “The Beat that My Heart Skipped,” “Belle de Jour,” “Days of Glory,” “Irma Vep,” “Madame Bovary,” “The Visitors,” “Sugar Can Alley” and “My Favourite Season.” Tickets are now on sale at Computicket. The festival runs from the 19th of September to the 1st of October, and I will see all I want to see from the 27th of September to the 30th.

Os dejo con una interpretación en directo de uno de los temas que, desde hace tiempo, más me tienen enganchado:

La verdad es que, si después de ver esa interpretación, no os dan ganas de ir a hacer tratos con la mafia, es que no tenéis sensibilidad musical...

Como "bonus", otra interpretación de Fly me to the moon, en este caso por Paul Gilbert, virtuoso de la guitarra y otrora guitarrista de Mr. Big. Evidentemente, la interpretación no tiene nada que ver con la de "La Voz", pero seguro que quienes sigan la trayectoria musical de Mr.Paul lo sabrán apreciar:

Per la prima volta un uomo toccava la superficie di un altro pianeta.

Era il 20 luglio del 1969 e non appena Tito Stagno gridò il suo celebre "Ha toccato!!" venne prontamente smentito da Ruggero Orlando: per noi italiani lo sbarco del primo uomo sulla Luna è anche un battibecco tra i nostri due telecronisti!

Il nostro satellite naturale è stato da sempre un compagno di viaggio. Per milioni di anni ci ha osservato e forse, ogni tanto, s'è chiesto qualcosa di noi: Angelo Branduardi "Luna".

(Nota personale: il video è un vero pezzo di archeologia: per chi non lo conoscesse quello è uno dei simboli di VideoMusic la prima TV Italiana dedicata completamente alla musica.)

Certamente questa è una interpretazione molto poetica, storicamente le cose sono andate diversamente.

Negli anni '60, la corsa alla conquista del cosmo era affare quasi esclusivo dei russi. Il primo satellite artificiale lo Sputnik (1957) era loro, il primo uomo nello spazio Jurij Alekseevič Gagarin (1961) era russo, la prima donna nello spazio Valentina Vladimirovna Tereškova (1963) era russa, il primo astronauta a compiere una "passeggiata extra veicolare", cioè ad uscire dalla capsula che l'aveva portato nello spazio, Aleksej Archipovič Leonov (1965) era russo.

I russi ormai "governavano" lo spazio.

Solo nel 1962, l'America per voce del suo presidente, l'indimenticato JFK John F. Kennedy, entrava nella corsa spaziale, con lo storico discorso alla Rice University nel mese di settembre:

(Nota personale: l'anno dopo questo discorso nell'università fu aperto il primo centro di studi spaziali e nel 1981 venne scelta come deposito degli archivi per gli archivi della NASA. Alla Rice hanno parlato anche Nelson Mandela e il Dalai Lama)

Ed erano talmente difficili, che sotto l'amministrazione Kennedy furono stanziati qualcosa come 25 miliardi di dollari per la corsa spaziale!

JFK, non vide mai lo sbarco: fu assassinato nel novembre del 1963.

L'anno dopo, 1964, Frank Sinatra portava al successo una canzone del 1954, "In other words" conosciuta meglio, visti gli anni, come "Fly me to the moon"

Servirono solo altri 5 anni, e la luna fu conquistata!

La conquista della Luna fu uno dei risultati più alti della storia dell'umanità.

Risultato non privo di ombre.

Da quella più imponente e storicamente rilevante, che è la partecipazione al progetto dello scienziato tedesco Von Braun. Lo stesso che progettava i missili V1 e V2 per Hitler!

A quelle più "risibili" che sostengono che tutto è stato girato in teatri di posa super segreti dal registra Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick nel 1968 stava terminando quel capolavoro che è "2001: odissea nello spazio".
Sembra, addirittura, che la NASA cambiò alcuni dettagli estetici delle tute spaziali dopo aver visto quelle disegnate per il film di Kubrick.

(Nota personale: se ne avere la possibilità guardatevi "2001: odissea nello spazio", molto probabilmente non ci capirete nulla ma è un film bellissimo!)

Qualcuno mi chiederà cosa ne penso.

Io personalmente non ho dubbi sul fatto che abbiamo lasciato questa terra e che gli astronauti della missione Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong e Buzz Aldrin hanno camminato sulla Luna. Anche perché oltre a quella missione ce ne sono state ben altre 8.

Lo Spazio è la nostra ultima frontiera, la nostra sfida più immensa. L'uomo da sempre esplora il mondo che gli sta attorno, compreso lo stolto che iniziava la sua scoperta guardando il dito e non la luna indicata dal saggio.

Dis hoekom niemand my sommer mag wakker maak as ek slaap nie, ek is besig om te vlieg.

Ns: As jy lus is om te skryf oor vlieg, speel saam! Maar wees gewaarsku dis nie 'n maklike tag nie. Ek is vanoggend vir al wat man is in my lewe kwaad. Ek was gister-aand moeg geploeg.....gevlieg ook as jy dan nou wil. Ek vra vir Teddie en Musie om my asb idee's te gee oor vlieg. Musie wip hom en gaan klim in die bed. Teddie sê:

"Ek weet nie wat het met jou gebeur nie, vanaf Maart, het hierdie blog wêreld my vrou ingesluk, sy's weg. Dus jy het besluit om te blog, jy is op jou eie my vlieënde maan engeltjie.... ek gaan jou definitief nie nog verder in die verderf in help nie" :shock: Kan my teddie so wreed wees :shock:
