There are occasions when you want to send a huge bouquet of the most exotic blooms but do not have a budget.

Never despair the World Wide Web has solutions to everything. All you need is the conviction that you can still send a beautiful bunch of flowers.
Log on to the internet and look for discounted flowers or wholesale flower websites. Surf the net for a bargain. But check what shipping costs you. Otherwise you will be pennywise and pound foolish.

Here are seven tips to send flowers on a shoestring budget:

1. Look for seasonal discount offers online. Many florists have a bargain section where great buys can be had. Choose a flower bouquet that has more greens or a mix of real and silk flowers.

2. Surf the internet to find out how you can send great flowers and yet not overspend. The World Wide Web is a knowledge highway and experts give tips through informative articles and links.

3. Use discount coupons offered by online websites to get beautiful flowers at a lower price. Many websites offer great discount coupons as also airport parking lots and credit card companies. Become a bargain hunter and know how and when you can save money.

4. Choose seasonal blooms rather than exotic ones. The pricing will be vastly different. Be sure to check what shipping will be. Find out if any online florist is offering a free shipping deal.

5. Use comparison tools offered by online websites to find the best deal from online florists.

6.	Use a friend or family member’s membership to get a better price or discount from online florists.

7. Think beyond a traditional bouquet. Many online florists offer options like a nice ornament with just a single rose. Or a combination of silk and real flowers. Or a potted bloom. Often arrangements are more economical and beautifully decorated.

Learn to think out of the box and save money. Send flowers but don’t go broke. The internet has something for everyone; all you need to do is master where to look.

Often buying from a flower grower or wholesaler is cheaper than from a florist. The downside is that your recipient will have to arrange the flowers. Look for wholesaler and grower websites and determine what the difference in rates between these flowers and that offered by florists is.

Ordering flowers online benefits growers as well as buyers and you could even consider buying a bouquet from an auction website. You may even get the best flowers for as little as a dollar.

The World Wide Web has no limitations.

Sorry this is late…bad bride! Bad bad bride!
Anyways, you may wonder where pinched the 3% off

Sorry this is late...bad bride! Bad bad bride!

Anyways, you may wonder where pinched the 3% off...well, I didn't mean to, but it ended up being in flowers!

I met with one florist. Only one florist, but it was one of those things where I just *knew* she was perfect for our wedding. I'm not much of a flower girl....sure, whenever Joey sent me flowers, I'd turn bright red in the face out of excitement (and one time, embarrassment since I was at work...). However, I know I don't need crazy elaborate flowers for our day. Joey really could care less (as long as he doesn't have to wear a pink flower. :) )

The budget article said 10% for flowers. So, $1000...that's a lot of money for things that pop out of the ground! Little did I know that many people around here spend up to $3000 (and even more sometimes) on flowers! Good LORD! I was afraid...I was very afraid...everything else in the wedding industry is inflated, ya know?

So, I met with my (now) florist, Christina O' Malley. I showed her things I liked, not really knowing much about flowers. She seemed to just catch my vision immediately. I told her my budget, and she told me I'd be in budget..way in budget. Two days later, I get my tentative quote...about $700-750.

Seriously? This is for all my bouquets, boutinieres, corsages, altar arrangements, etc. Wow! I kinda squealed on the sofa when I got my quote...it was exciting to potentially pinch off that 3% that I added in photography!!

Now, this is a tentative number, based on the flowers species that I mentioned. However, I hope the flower market doesn't go crazy high (like gas and oil) in 10 months, so I can stay relatively close to this number.

Part 4 coming at you this afternoon.... :)

Why have flowers in your home?

Experts reveal that flowers spread peace and happiness. A recent academic study showed that:

Fresh cut flowers in a home increased feelings of compassion and kindness for others.

Flowers in a home spread calm and decrease feelings of anxiety, worries, and sadness.

People who live among flowers experience less negativity and have lowered hypertension and anxiety. When was the last time you saw a miserable Hornsby florist?

Flowers boost energy levels and productivity. People with flowers in a home are more enthusiastic and happy. They are willing to help others and are more active.

Men like flowers too!

Ask your florist online for more information and ideas for delivering and sending flowers to men. Remember to discreetly check that your man will not be too embarrassed before you send flowers Hurstville. You don't want to upset him by making him feel small in front of his workmates. Good luck, I hope he likes them!

A Lily isn't silly

Lilies are another great flower to send to someone special. A lily with thick stalks and long, white flowers is called a Cala. Day Lilies come in a number of colors such as orange, red, yellow and crème. If you prefer something a little smaller than most lilies, the Zephyr Lily can be found in shades of pink, yellow and white. And finally, a lily with small blooms that appear to be little bells is known as Lily of the Valley. Lilies make a great addition to any order or flower delivery CBD Sydney meant to impress!

Orchids certainly pack a romantic punch

Again, there are many types to choose from. Japhets are large orchids with curly edges and often come with yellow throats. A miniature orchid that comes in sprays is known as a Dendrobium. The largest orchids are the Catlaya, which are generally white with pink or lavender in the center of the petals. With all the beautiful varieties to choose from, it can be easy to see how sending flowers to your loved one can be a real boost to your relationship!

Florist background

Ever wondered how your local Joondalup Florist is able to send out such wonderful blooms on your behalf? Well before they actually get to the florist, there is a whole wide range of steps taken in the cut flower market. By harvesting and handling a cut flower crop in the best way, the quality of the marketable product is greatly improved, and with better quality comes longer shelf life.

Wedding flora on a budget

A reputable florist understands that having flowers at your reception can be a major part of your floral budget. They can provide designs which will compliment your wedding and choice of bridal bouquets. Having this consistent theme throughout really makes all the difference. The simple addition of candles to an evening reception can create an ambience unequalled by anything else as candlelight is deemed to be very romantic. Just image a dozen bowls of floating scented candles dispersed around the night time celebration (oohh sounds lovely).
Some suggestions for reception decorations to add to your floral arrangements are:

Floating candle bowls with flowers you have in your bouquet floating alongside the candles.

Candelabras wrapped in ivy or jasmine with flowers scattered throughout or bunched at the base.

Vases filled with your favourite blooms delivered by a Brisbane Florist

Rose petals scattered over table tops are a cost effective option.

Add stems of your favourite flowers CBD Perth to the back of each chair

Not all florists are born equal

This one is crucial for your flowers to be perfect. Know your florist's style. Florists and flower shops usually have distinct details that are seen in their arrangements and bouquets. Many professional florists stick to one prominent style or topic. If you are unsure about his/her style, ask to look at photos of other weddings, events, etc. that they have planned. Make sure your florist has some experience in this area. If you are still not keen, shop around for another florist who has flowers that you can pour your heart into. You don't have to commit to a flower delivery Armadale if you're not completely satisfied with your florist.

Making your flowers last longer than the pyramids

Loving tips to longer lasting flowers - These tips should keep your flowers looking fresh for as long as possible.
Make sure the flowers are put into a clean vase as soon as the delivery from a Banyule Florist reaches you. Clean the vase with some bleach to get rid of any bacteria beforehand though.

Cut a couple of centimetres or so diagonally off the end of the stems under water before putting the flowers in water. They should be recut every three to four days. A fresh cut removes the bacteria, opens a new part of the stem to take up water, and prevents air pockets from forming inside the stem.

A royal color

The color purple has always been linked to royalty. Therefore it only makes sense that a purple rose symbolizes all things grand, glorious, majestic and opulent. Purple roses can also send out a message of an air of noble regality and pure splendour. Be careful though, you don't want the recipient to think that you're a posh toffee nosed so and so with a sense of self importance. I would personally only send purple roses to someone I had dated for a few weeks and got to know well first. Whenever I need some advice on the right flower delivery CBD Melbourne specialist I call a florist and get the professional's opinion.

Go Silk and save

Your wedding can still retain all of its elegance when you use silk wedding flowers. And you will likely get a better price on a variety of flowers, especially roses, if you choose fake flowers. Most floral shops offer silk flower arrangements, and you can visit your regular florists and look at fake floral bouquets, boutonnières, and corsages. Additionally, you can ask about buying individual flowers or small table arrangements. It is also possible to have large arrangements made and delivered to the wedding or reception location using fake flowers (but keeping the arrangements small and simple so you can pick them up will save you more money). If you do not have time to pick them up your florist will send flowers Bayside Melbourne over to you.

So, you received a beautiful arrangement and you don't want to part with it. What should one do? Dry the flowers and save your memories of the experience behind them. Here's how:

Step 1:

Remove excess leaves from the flower stems

Cut stems to the desired length being careful nto to go shorter than 6 inches

Keep flowers out of sunlight to preserve color

Secure rubber bands around the arrangement

Step 2:

Secure bouquet in a dark, dry area with excellent circulation such as a closet.

Hang flowers upside down by securing them to a hanger with unflavored dental floss

Let flowers hang for 2-3 weeks

After the flowers have dried, spray them with hairspray for protection

Use the dried flowers as decorations in your house or use them for potpourri!

Who doesn’t love the smell of a beautiful flower when they are taking a stroll through the pa

Who doesn't love the smell of a beautiful flower when they are taking a stroll through the park? Well imagine that same dazzling aroma in your very own backyard sitting right next to the kids play set or the rocking chair. Do not forget the beautiful sight of a flower garden as well, your backyard could become your very own tropical oasis where you could get away from the drudgeries of your daily life, and tend to your beautiful and magnificent flowers.

Now that you have got the idea of a flower garden, or secret hideaway, going through your head you can now begin to plan it out. It isn't as hard as you think to create one either you do not have to have a so called green thumb or be a gardening expert. There are many ways you can go about doing this, one way is to spend a whole a lot of money and bring in a landscape designer and their crew who come and create a nice looking garden for a fortune or you can do it yourself and save yourself a whole lot of money.

To start you should first pick out what kind of flowers you would like to have in your garden, a great way of doing this is either looking at home and garden magazines or going to your local nursery or home improvement store and checking out what they have. It is quite important to pick out flowers you like otherwise it won't exactly be your garden. It is also important to pick out flowers that will actually survive through the season you are in or are about to go into.

Certain flowers must be planted in certain times in order to survive a winter while some flowers can live year round. Annual flowers will only last one year, after that they will not grow back will perennials last for three to four years on average. Remember, the most important part about picking out your flowers is that they have to appeal to you and make you happy on every level.

After picking your flowers you can purchase them already partially grown or as seeds. I would also suggest purchasing planting soil, a spade, some gloves, and possibly even some knee pads. The knee pads will help keep you a little more comfortable as you will be on your knees as you plant your flowers. Dig deep enough for the soil and the roots of the pre-grown flower or the seed to be covered up again by more soil.

Be sure to plant them where they get sunlight and be sure to water them often. Then after sometime you can expect to begin to enjoy your own flower garden! Flower gardening is a great way for you to be adding not only color and beauty in to your life but some lovely fragrances as well. Creating a possible sanctuary for you where you can enjoy some peace and quiet as well as a garden that you have created with your own bare hands.

Visiting your local florist is a great option when there are no fresh flowers in your flower garden anymore.

I used to hate flowers…they die within days and you spend a lot of money on them. What a waste

I used to hate flowers...they die within days and you spend a lot of money on them. What a waste right?? Well, in the past couple of years, I've slowly learned to like flowers.

My first flower love: tulips. Tulips are beautiful, springy and just cheerful. I went to Utah last year for a conference, and there were nothing but tulip gardens everywhere! Tulips are just great...and they will be in my bouquet and my bridesmaids. Ahh tulips :)

This is a picture in Salt Lake City of a tulip someone broke off and put in a bench thing...

These are the beautiful tulips that Joey gave me after my Utah trip. He heard me raving about the beautiful tulips and had them waiting for me in my apartment. Things like this give me more reasons to marry the man, I tell ya :)

Love #2: Roses....Joey has given me roses a couple of times. I used to think they were cliche but now they are totally a beautiful flower to me. They are going to be in the bouquets as well :).

Roses that Joey surprised me with on Valentine's Day. Totally made my week :)

Love #3: Peonies...OK, I'll admit...I used to LOVE Bath and Body Works Peony spray, but after 2-3 years of using it in high school PE class to smell better, I hate it. However, a REAL peony...is gorgeous and smells light and great. I saw a peony for the first time on the Knot...and I instantly knew I had to have them in my bouquet. And that's where they will be...

Some peonies :)

Love #4: Hydrangea...this flower has some significance to me in my life. When I was a baby, I had a hydrangea planted for me..it moved to my new house 8 years later...lasted about 20 years total. It bloomed around my birthday and it's just a beautiful flower. These flowers are going in my bridesmaids' bouquets. :)

Some hydrangeas...

Now, to see it all in harmony, here are the bouquet inspirations for my bouquet that I brought to my florist (who is totally awesome!)

I think the flowers are going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see them :)

Just thought you would be interested in knowing some wedding trivia when it comes to flowers...

In Thailand, the mothers of the bride and groom walk to the altar to drape puang malai -- flower garlands -- around the couple's shoulders to wish
them good fortune in their life together.

Swedish and Danish grooms sew small pockets of strong-smelling herbs like garlic, chives, and rosemary into their clothes for good luck.

We live in Todmorden - and run our website from here too.

It's a small market town in the Pennine hills on the border between Lancashire & Yorkshire. The market is one of its major assets.

Thursday is flea market day, with a mix of regular traders & one off stall holders having a clear out or raising money for charity.

We try to get there most weeks, trawling stalls for potential H is for Home stock. We've picked up all manner of things over the years - from 200 year old chairs to 1960s lamps.

Some traders know what we like now and draw our attention to things they've got or will soon be getting hold of.

After the secondhand stalls have been scoured, there's a great place to stop for coffee - it has an unbelievable choice of teas & coffees all on display on their shelves... with homemade cakes and doughnuts to boot!

Also on the inside market are a florist, greengrocer, cheese stall, biscuit seller, haberdasher, butchers, bakers, but alas, no candlestick maker! Having said that, there's Dawson's - a great, traditional hardware stall that never fails to have that little brush or screw that no one else seems to stock. They, no doubt, have candlesticks... and the candles that go in them too!

The market has at least 4 different butchers - everyone has their own regular or favourite. Ours is Paul Standsfield whose stall greets you as you enter through the main doors. He is Fudge's firm favourite too as he'll always throw in a nice, big beef or venison bone for him.

On other days of the week, the outside market has the usual range of food, clothing and homeware stalls.

Special mention has to go to Alexander Gourmet Med, a Mediterranean food specialist who's usually there on a Saturday. The owner is extremely passionate & knowledgeable about everything he sells. He knows where it was made, which family made it, the methods they used and what makes it unique. We buy great olives & other antipasti, honey, chocolate, coffee, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. He's an endless source of birthday & Christmas presents!

This florist Pollon has apparently been on Flinders Lane for a while, but you know me – I don't get out much. So it was that last week I noticed this very cute shop, which is not only full of beautiful flowers, but also has a great exterior (no small thanks to the Chapter House). The only thing I'm not convinced about is the spelling – I'm hoping there's a good reason for it and it's not just 'wild and wackee' orthography.

In an ideal world, I'm one of those organised, creative types who buy tasteful flowers on a weekly basis to put into a stylish, Danish-designed vase in my simply furnished apartment – the same kind of person who can pull off Minä Perhonen and make Hammer pants look cool. Sadly, my reality is closer to a six-monthly purchase of cheap and slightly battered jonquils, which then languish in an unspectacular vase stolen from my parents. And I look like Aladdin on a bad day in Hammer pants.

Flowers are beautiful. They brighten up a room and make everything in it seem more beautiful, more cheerful. For most people a vase of flowers on the table signifies that that room is a happy one, a comfortable place to be. For allergy sufferers, however, a vase of flowers is far from inviting- it's treacherous. If you're one of those unlucky people who enjoys fresh flowers but has to consider the effect they'll have on your allergies, plastic flowers are not your only option. You just have to know which types of flowers are dangerous. Of the huge variety of flowers that you can plant or buy, many types of flowers will affect your allergies very little- or even not at all.

Dangerous Flowers for Allergy Sufferers

Truth is, if your allergies are particularly severe, most flowers are going to affect you negatively. In general, the more dangerous flowers are the ones with more pollen. So a good guideline when decorating with flowers to avoid those ones that have visible pollen.

One type of flower that is particularly bad for allergy sufferers is tree flowers. If creating a flower arrangement, be careful not to include almond, cherry, orange, or any other kind of tree blossom. Though they are beautiful flowers, they're some of the most powerfully allergy-causing.

Lilies are some of the more dangerous flowers for allergy sufferers, as parts of them are covered in powdery orange pollen. Strangely enough, however, they can be a good choice for allergy sufferers, as it's easy to simply remove the stems of pollen from each flower. Just have a non-allergic friend or family member do this particular job, as it will probably have you sneezing in two seconds flat.

Good Flowers for Allergy Sufferers

There are several types of flowers that will affect allergy suffers less. One of these is possibly mums and daisies. While regular mums and daisies do have lots of pollen, an new hybrid type of daisy, called formal doubles, that do not have any pollen at all, and therefore won't aggravate allergies. Forma double flowers were bred so that the parts of the flower that used to produce pollen now produce petals. Watch out for regular mums and daisies, however, as they can be highly allergic. If in doubt, ask your florist.

Another great choice for the allergy sufferer is roses. Roses are some of the most beautiful and elegant flower you can find, and fortunately for allergy sufferers, they don't have much effect on allergies. The reason for this is that their pollen is too large in size to be able to become airborne and truly infiltrate the respiratory system. If in doubt, choose roses with little or no smell- the less smell, the less pollen.

Last but not least, one of the best kinds of flowers for allergy sufferers are orchids. Orchids are gorgeous and exotic flowers that come in an amazing variety of shapes and colors. Very few types of orchids cause any pollen-related allergies, and so are quite safe for those allergic to most flowers. It is important to note, though, that some orchids may cause a slight skin rash on sensitive individuals.

I received a quote from a florist in the Philippines for the customized package I want. I was quoted P18,000 (approximately $430) for my bouquet, my maid of honor, 4 bridesmaids, 2 mommies, 3 secondary sponsors, 5 principal sponsors and 2 flower balls for the little girls. Our wedding date is Valentine's Day and that is considered super peak season in the Philippines. I was told by one florist that there is usually a 300% mark up for flowers especially roses.

By the way, another florist gave me a quote for almost the same package for P16,000 (approx. $380). They are both reputable florist and I have no doubt about their services. Still waiting for 2 more florist for their quote. Will return for more updates.

Just so you can get a visual, here's an image I got from The Knot.

The legend of the rose: The story goes that during the Roman empire, there was an incredibly beautiful maiden named Rhodanthe. Her beauty drew many suitors who pursued her relentlessly. Exhausted by their pursuit, Rhodanthe was forced to take refuge from her suitors in the temple of her friend Diana. Unfortunately, Diana became jealous. And when the suitors broke down her temple gates to get near their beloved Rhodanthe she also became angry, turning Rhodanthe into a rose and her suitors into thorns.
