We were sure he'd be fine if we started him this year, but what about next year, or in several years when he's the last to hit puberty?  Also, there seems to be a big trend (not sure if this is local, regional or nationwide...) towards waiting a year for those kids (especially boys) who have summer birthdays.

So we figured we'd give him the benefit of being on of the older kids vs. being one of the youngest.  Scott also said, "give him another year to be a kid!  kindergarten is the beginning of the end!" (he, as you might imagine, is the pessimist in the family).

I knew that regardless of my decision, I'd question whether or not we were doing the right thing.  But when I'm trying to make a difficult decision I often ask myself which choice am I most likely to end up regretting?  And it seemed pretty clear to me that I'd be more likely to regret sending him too early than waiting another year.

So, we wait.  And Fisher will do four 2.5 our days of pre-K this year.  And I'm feeling really confident about this decision, only there's this little part of me that feels slightly sad that some of his neighborhood buddies are going off to kindergarten and he's not.  Though of course next year I'll surely be lamenting that TIME GOES TOO FAST!  and WHERE HAS MY BABY GONE?  and STOP GROWING UP ALREADY!!

And then on the second day of school I will throw my hands up and PRAISE GOD FOR KINDERGARTEN!

Otrzymał tonę nagród i najwyższych ocen. Osobiście stawiam go ponad ocenami, recenzjami, porównaniami. To po prostu inna kategoria o nazwie "arcydzieło". Serial pełen jest głębi, złożonych osobowości, emocji, wspaniale nakreślonych charakterów i wciągających wątków. Każdy znajdzie w nim coś dla siebie.

Jeśli ktoś nie oglądał, ten... nie wie co traci! Wspaniałe przeżycie, które pozostawia pustkę kiedy się skończy. Naprawdę! Trudno to opisać.

Serial składa się z pięciu sezonów opowiadających o losach rodziny Fisherów prowadzących rodzinny biznes - dom pogrzebowy.

Era de esperarse que la nueva aventura de Sam Fisher se retrasara de nuevo, se tenia previsto que se diera a conocer este mes, pero ubisoft decidio seguir puliendo el juego con mejor jugabilidad y mejores graficos, el director y creador del juego opina que Splinter Cell es una franquicia muy fuerte para darle mayor oportunidad y mas peso, lo peor es que el juego no se retrasara un mes o 2, el juego esta previsto que salga entre el 09 de abril del 2009 y  marzo del 2010, todo esto se rumora que quieren crear el mejor juego de espionage y darle una vista cinematografica al estilo Metal Gear Solid 4, aprovechando que la pelicula no se logro con Paramount Pictures quieren lograr una inmersion en el juego como si estuvieras viendo una pelicula y tu tomaras tus decisiones propias...  en fin asi estamos con el señor Sam Fisher.

As part of my effort to have a party that required as little effort on my part as possible (this is something that takes approximately 5 years to learn), we convened at the local Magic Mountain.

Which is on the short list of places that could be considered for me should they run out of room in hell.

But, Fisher really really REALLY wanted to have his party there, and I decided that 10:30 on a Wednesday morning shouldn't be TOO awful. And I was right, it really wasn't too bad. All in all, there was minimal chaos, and all I had to do was make goody bags. My mom made the cupcakes, so I didn't even have to worry about that.

We intended for it to be a small party, but little kids generally have a lot of siblings (and I hardly expected people to get babysitters for them. Plus, we like them!) ...so in the end I think we had over 20 kids in attendance.

Everyone had fun, and I survived without experiencing a panic attack or the need for a mid-day cocktail, so I think we can call that success.

Happy Birthday, Fisher.

You are the silliest, sweetest, cutest 5 year old boy around. You make me crazy proud every single day.

Headed to Nokia Theater for the first time. It's a nice building. It's not that large a venue so it's definitely ideal for concerts. ESPY Awards were entertaining -- Justin Timberlake did a solid job as host. I felt bad for Derek Fisher, as he was the only Laker who showed up. Meanwhile, the entire Boston Celtics team along with their first and second cousins made their way to LA. Yes, I am still bitter.

That's Davidson star Stephen Curry sitting next to me, along with his father/former NBA player Dell Curry. Carmelo Anthony and his wife Lala (I had no idea) were sitting directly behind me, but I couldn't pull off a photo.

Lupe Fiasco performed during commercial breaks the whole night. I wasn't sure if it was him, but as soon as I saw him with his SB's on, I knew. I'll leave with this photo:

Al parecer el edificio estará construido con una columna central y compuesto por unos módulos que serán la parte habitable. Cada piso rotara a la velocidad que desee su dueño. Ademas de todo esto y por si fuera poco sera un edificio ecológico que aprovechara la energía solar y eólica. Os dejo un par de vídeos por si os interesa el tema:

Circula desde hace tiempo una historia, que bien puede ser verdad o simplemente una leyenda urbana, referida a los problemas que encontraron los primeros astronautas para escribir en condiciones de gravedad cero. Según dicha historia, en plena carrera espacial, la NASA se encontró con el inconveniente de que los bolígrafos normales no podían escribir en el vacío. Ante esa tesitura, decidieron encargar a la empresa Fisher un bolígrafo que fuera capaz de escribir en condiciones de ingravidez, para lo que invirtieron más de 1,5 millones de dólares de la época.

El proyecto fue todo un éxito. El denominado cómo "El Bolígrafo de los  Astronautas" era capaz de escribir en cualquier posición, convirtiéndose desde entonces en un elemento imprescindible en todas las misiones espaciales estadounidenses.

Años después, cuando la carrera espacial ya había terminado, y las relaciones entre las 2 superpotencias estaban algo más normalizadas, un alto cargo de la NASA le preguntó a un colega soviético qué habían hecho ellos para resolver el problema de los bolígrafos en el espacio, a lo que el ruso, extrañado por la pregunta, simplemente respondió: Nosotros usamos lápices.

Esta historia es perfecta para ilustrar uno de los principios filosóficos más simples, y a la vez, más importantes: "En igualdad de condiciones, la solución más sencilla es probablemente la correcta".

Esta máxima fue escrita por Guillermo de Ockham, un fraile franciscano inglés, a finales del siglo XIV.
