I've been using this extension for about a week now, and I can definitely say it's been a big help to me in my flickr usage lately!

There are a ton of features that it includes, you can find out about all of them at the Lifehacker site linked below.

Everyone's favorite photo-sharing web application, Flickr, has had tons of ancillary applications and user scripts developed for it to tweak, mod and add to its functionality. Dozens of Greasemonkey user scripts have popped up that make Flickr better; so in the spirit of Better Gmail I've rolled a few of my favorites into a new Firefox extension called Better Flickr. After the jump, check out Better Flickr's features and grab the download.

Pausing downloads can be important if you’d like to start a download, close Firefox, and come

Pausing downloads can be important if you'd like to start a download, close Firefox, and come back to the download at a later time. To do this simply open up Firefox and find a file you'd like to download.

After selecting Save File your download will begin to download automatically. Here we can see the status of the download along with two icons to the right of the status bar. The first one is a pause icon and the second a stop sign. Press the pause icon to pause your download and come back to it later. Press the stop icon to completely stop the download.

After pressing the pause icon you will see that the download status stands still. The pause icon is now a play icon and clicking it will begin the download right where you left off.

This screen shot shows the download completed successfully.

Type about:config in Firefox 3's address bar and press Return. The configuration settings will appear.

In the Filter field, type gfx. The list of settings will shorten to show just those related to graphics, ie gfx.

If the Value for gfx.color_management.enabled is False, double-click anywhere on that line to toggle the setting to True.

Quit and relaunch Firefox 3 and you're in business. You can confirm that colour management is working by viewing the photos on this page. If all four quadrants of the first photo are a seamless match, then colour management in your copy of Firefox is up and running.

Weblog Daily Gyan points out a simple
about:config
tweak that disables the installation delay for new Firefox extensions. As you may know, Firefox tries to protect you from malicious attacks by setting up a delay before allowing you to install a new extension. But if you're confident in your browsing habits and you want to avoid the wait, just enter
about:config
in your address bar, then paste
security.dialog_enable_delay
into the filter box. Double-click that preference and change the value to 0. If you're aware of the risk but still don't feel like waiting every time you install a new extension, this is a nice time-saver.

I recently replaced my trusty Firefox 2 installation with Firefox 3 Beta 5, and so far, I'm wildly impressed. I've even gotten used to the new toolbar which I previously despised. ;-)

However, the official release of Firebug (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843) was listed as incompatible, which is a big bummer. Luckily, you can install Firebug 1.1 Beta (probably soon to be at the addons.mozilla.org site as well) from this link:

Non-Windows Operating System From Microsoft!

While the battle between Yahoo and Microsoft gets hotter with the former trying to wage a proxy war to acquire the latter, Microsoft has put forth its Non-Windows Operating System codenamed Singularity. The project is an attempt by Microsoft to build a more reliable and robust operating system from scratch putting to use all the advances in programming languages, compilers and system level programming. Still in its early stages there isn't any commitment yet from Microsoft on any commercialisation plans or status of Singularity.
