<p>Tried to pick-up on the cardio this week, but still rather limited by the ankle. Was surprised how well I could do on the fingerboard after a long lay-off. I started by virtually completing a session that it had previously taken quite some time to build up to. Second time round I did all of the sets that I didn't quite finish on the first session, but then had weird things happening in my ankle *sigh*. Nevertheless I guess I still have some residual finger-strength from earlier in the year. This was demonstarted later in the week by sticking some pretty marginal crimps on a roof problem in The Peak.<br />

<td width="75%" bgcolor="#ffffff">Had a look round a wet Rubicon, lots to play on there some drier time. Mostly spotted at Cratcliffe and Robin Hood's Stride. However repeated a Font 6b (sans top-out as my ankle was having none of it) and, more importantly, stuck the first few moves of <a href="http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=78626" target="_blank">Razor Roof</a> (Font 6c). I have never been able to pull over the lip before, so doing this whilst injured was a sign of improved strength. Have to get back on it when (if?) my ankles improve. Nice to be out in the sun on (mostly) dry rock, even if my own efforts were somewhat curtailed.</td>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ich könnte so viel mitteilen und doch ist mein Kopf leer. Ich bin voller Ideen und doch schweigt die Tastatur, wenn ich auch nur eine niederschreiben will. Ich weiss so viel und doch, wenn du mich fragen würdest was, wüsste ich keine Antwort. Ich schlafe so viel und doch bin ich immer müde. Ich bin eine total offene Person und doch bin ich eine Person, die gegen alles Vorurteile hat. Ich bin eine intelligente Person und kann unterscheiden, doch kenne ich nur wenige Gefühle zwischen Liebe und Hass.</p>
<p>Ja. Ich tendiere dazu, allem viel zu starke Gefühle zuzuordnen. Ich kenne das eine und das andere Extrem. Dazwischen nur einige wenige. Meine Gefühle schwanken von lieben ins Hassen und ich kenne noch um die vier positive Gefühle dazwischen. Wie kann es sein, dass ich so schnell hasse aber doch recht lange brauche um jemanden oder etwas zu lieben?</p>
<p>Andererseits, kann ich sehr wohl zwischen nicht wirklich mögen, blöd finden und so weiter aufzeigen. Aber ich glaube für mich ist es einfacher, direkt zu hassen. Dann muss ich nicht überlegen. Das ist Hass, damit beschäftigt man sich nicht. Verstanden?</p>
<p>Danke, jetzt habe ich schon wieder eines meiner Probleme gelöst ohne das zu wollen. Schon wieder ein Problem veröffentlicht, auf das ich eigentlich nicht zu sprechen kommen wollte. Aber was solls? Das ist ja auch meine Therapie.</p>
<p>Und für Leute, die es schlecht finden, dass Gefühle veröffentlicht werden. Lest es durch und denkt drüber nach. Oder lest keine Blogs. Danke.</p>

<p>Correcto. Para que objectivo? No site escrevem em alemão, não em inglês, e torna-se dificil de perceber mesmo com os tradutores online, mas básicamente alguns membros da BRR (Martin, Elias e talvez mais que não estão nas fotos?) deslocaram-se a Zurique para gravar nos estudios da Canon.</p>
<p> Como a BRR já usa maquinas HD desta marca fizeram uma parceria que em princípio vai resultar num video com o Elias para o fim deste ano.</p>
<p>Com 20gb de footage, vão ter muito para escolher, esperamos nós!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Now it gets interesting - if tonality is a lightly salted soda cracker, consider the whole-tone scale a wheat thin, and the octatonic scale is some tasty ciabatta with olive oil. This next mode of limited transposition might very well be "<a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2008/6/18/8405/35359/travel/Burger+Travel:+Britain+Brings+Us+the+Most+Expensive+Burger">The Burger</a>." Messiaen himself invented the remaining five modes of limited transposition and, in my humble opinion, this particular one is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things birthed by human beings in the past century - human beings themselves notwithstanding. (Perhaps Messiaen's mother, or Cleopatra's nose, really deserve credit, but this is a very different topic). This mode has a total of four transpositions before it is enharmonically repeated, and employs the following pattern of whole-steps and half-steps (w and h, respectively):</p>

<p>This mode translates very nicely to guitar. Behold the fretboard diagrams, this time with each mode written out in standard notation as well:</p>

<p>Similar to the octatonic scale, these chords can be used to modulate into and out of the mode. They also give it a certain tonal ubiquitousness -no particular key is emphasized, but many of these triads are not distant from each other and can hint towards particular tonal regions if the composer so chooses. There are even a few traditional tonic-dominant relationship (C - G or A♭-E♭or E♮-B♮).</p>
<p>The mode itself is divided into three symmetrical groups of four notes:</p>

</blockquote>
<p>It is symmetrical along an augmented fifth - this basically means that C is equivalent to G♯ (A♭), which is itself equivalent to E♮. It will sound the same if you start the mode on C, G♯ or E♮, since each of these notes is followed by a whole-step and two half-steps. This symmetry is what gives these modes their unique character - the chromatic and whole-tone scales are such because all intervals in them are homogeneous, the symmetry is an almost immaterial byproduct of the nature of these scales. The octatonic scale is slightly more complex, as it alternates whole and half steps, but is still only has two variations: it either begins with a half step or a whole step. The third mode is symmetrical in a less obvious way: it folds over itself in thirds, and each third is equivalent.</p>
<p>The guitar is particularly well suited for observing these unique characteristics - perhaps moreso than the piano because of the fretboard's logical chromatic layout.  Arbitrary placement of white and black keys don't detract from the relatively simple underlying patterns. For example, look again at the first transposition - the pattern on the first fret repeats itself exactly on frets 5, 9, 13, 17, 21.... etc. You really only need to memorize the fingering patterns for four frets to play the mode up and down the entire neck! It's almost deceptively simple when applied to guitar.</p>
<p>No worries if you haven't been able to follow all of the theory so far - just take the first transposition and play around with it, and all of these relationships will fall into place. It's so much easier and more effective to just soak it up in a purely musical sense than to try to explain things with feeble words and theory. I can't stress it enough - this mode is awesome. Invest an hour to learn at least one transposition and mess around with it.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The octatonic scale is not new to guitarists, in jazz it's commonly known as the diminished scale because it is essentially two diminished seventh chords superimposed to form an 8-note scale. Like the whole-tone scale, Messiaen did not invent it, but he categorized it as the second mode of limited transposition. The scale simply alternates between whole and half steps, and you can begin with either a half or a whole step.</p>
<p>This scale has three transpositions and, comme toujours, no tonic:</p>

<p>These can act as pivot chords for modulation into and out of the octatonic scale from any major or minor key that has one of these chords. Each major chord can also act as a dominant 7th, still native to the octatonic scale (noted in parenthesis).</p>
<p>To me, the octatonic is far more interesting than the whole-tone - it can be easily incorporated into a piece of tonal music with these major/minor triads, and it sounds much richer than the whole-tone scale. The octatonic scale also lends itself very well to guitar, and has really helped me break out of some ruts by challenging my muscle-memory comfort zone. Surely all guitarists know the feeling - you rely too much on your fingers, allowing them to think for you, and the bastards only want to play what they're used to. They defy us and any attempts to change their old habits, crapping on your creativity in the process. Sometimes these episodes last for months, and I've found the only way to fix the problem is to introduce radically new material, and play it exclusively. A musical shock-and-awe which your body will attempt to reject, but a necessary step towards progress. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I love Messiaen - his harmonic language makes me tingle. Unfortunately, he never wrote a note for guitar - perhaps he was dissuaded by the instrument's somewhat dry, brittle timbre, inability to sustain notes, limited dynamic range and general obscurity in classical western canon. Whatever the case, everyone and their grandmother seem to own a guitar today, so it's about damn time people start writing for it (by "writing" I don't mean throwing together 4 diatonic chords in 4/4 time... there's far too much of that crap, whatever you may want to call it, going on these days).</p>
<p>As a guitarist/composer I've been exploring various applications of Messiaen's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modes_of_limited_transposition">modes of limited transposition</a> on the guitar, with tremendously frugiferous results. The first, and perhaps most famous, is the whole-tone scale, popularized by Debussy. Messiaen obviously did not "invent" it, but he categorized it as the first mode of limited transposition. Messiaen himself didn't use it too often, believing that Debussy had taken it as far as it could go. I would have to respectfully disagree. While I myself haven't come up with any earth-shattering masterpieces, I hope that guitarists will start experimenting a bit more with it. I would rather hear a whole-tone heavy metal solo over the usual metallica-esque modal stuff any day.</p>
<p>Below are guitar fingerboard diagrams for both transpositions of the whole-tone scale. This is the first in a series of posts exploring the different modes on guitar. All fingerboard patterns are, unless otherwise noted, in standard tuning.</p>

<p>Notice the very simple pattern on the fingerboard, it is much easier to memorize than even major/minor scales. The pattern varies slightly between the G and B strings, as is always the case with the guitar's tuning. Each position also repeats itself at regular intervals. For example, play the first transposition beginning on the open low E ascending 3 octaves to the open high e:</p>

<p>I prefer the first one, but you should be familiar with both patterns. Personally, I find chords to be a little bit tricky, but melody and especially 2 or 3 voice counterpoint sound fantastic.</p>

This wood has a beautiful pattern divided into two level, original level and AAA level. AAA level divided into two types, AAA Mapletop with a vertical or horizontal lines pattern, and Bird Eye, the rare one. It is so hard to find AAA level Maple. In 1000ha forest there is probably only one tree with the fiber that could reach AAA level for its beauty. Many of guitar makers create an hi-end variant such because of this rare beauty, such as PRS (Paul Reed Smith), Ibanez with its J’Custom, and Fender with Label Custom Shop.</span></p>

The wood material selection and the making process also plays an important role on guitar’s quality. The neck and fingerboard are important to the subjectivity of each guitarist. This is because the variety of shape, finger size, hands, and playing technique of every guitarists are different to each other. That is why this guitar part has various design and size. The material used for the neck usually made from Maple for its strenght and adjustable flexibility and its unique sound. There is also metal material inserted inside the neck to keep the stability of the neck. This steel or metal material is usually called “trusroad”</span></p>

<p>die schule hat wieder begonnen. bereits die dritte woche. alles wie immer.</p>
<p>mir gehts gut, ich hätte gerne mehr freizeit, ich möchte knipsen, filmen und snowboarden. ich möchte zeit mit meinen liebsten verbringen und ich möchte reisen.</p>
<p>mehr als ich kriege liegt leider beim besten willen nicht drin, so bin ich glücklich mit dem, was ich habe. und alleine das ist nicht wenig.</p>
<p>danke noch einmal an alle leute (besondere besonders. (es gibt da so um die 6 personen, die besonders wichtig waren)), die mir in der schweren zeit geholfen haben und zu mir hielten, auch wenn es mir nicht gut ging.</p>

<p>A tape mais falada, a que revolucionou e nos tirou da miséria das novas Riptape da BlackRiver-Ramps (com todo o respeito!).</p>
<p>Bla bla bla, here we go!</p>
<p><strong>Aparência.</strong></p>
<p>Belas curvas (nose e tail.. que andam prai a pensar?). Cor definida. 1mm de espessura. Querem melhor?</p>
<p>A ES da FBS é perfeita em termos estéticos. Estamos a falar de uma tape que tem as mesmas medidas de um BerlinWood wide. Ou seja.. Se tens um destes maravilhosos decks, então ES pre-cut deve ser a tua escolha.</p>

<p>Como se podem aperceber pela foto, é cortada mesmo á medida, portanto serve perfeitamente no BW.</p>
<p>1mm de espessura, perfect. O modelo anterior (não cortado á medida) tinha umas tiras brancas por dentro, neste isso já não acontece. Não há nenhuma tira.</p>
<p>Resumo até agora: tens um BW wide ou outro deck com 27mm de largura? Esta tape é a melhor do mercado para ti! 8]</p>
<p><strong>Performance.</strong></p>
<p>Podemos dizer que é como o vinho do Porto. Quanto mais velho, melhor (não falo por experiência própria, na na..). Embora, ao sair do pacote tenha grip suficiente para sacares as tuas manobras normalmente (agora sim.. self experience..).</p>
<p>Devido ás celulas muito fechadas, oferece muito mais aderêcia do que por ex. a conhecida Riptape.</p>

<p>Infelizmente, com o muito uso, a parte visual perde-se um pouco. Tal como é normal, os cantos começam a ter pequenas falhas. Embora o lema do vinho do Porto se mantenha, pois a aderência fica ainda melhor.</p>
<p>Não é um problema, aguenta-se muito tempo com este bom aspecto. E tal como sabemos, o aspecto não é tudo.</p>

É de cerca de 8euros + portes. 5 folhas, stickers, saqueta. Considero um bom preço, até podem aproveitar para comprar mais uma outra peça de hardware, tal como os kingpins e o-ringz já que os portes não são caros (uninsured, apenas não tem o track number mas nunca tive problemas). Podem pagar por transf. bancária ou paypal, tudo na boa..</p>
<p><strong>Resumo.</strong></p>
<p>Melhor tape que já usei. Comprem e não vão ficar desapontados ;)</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>so gut wie jetzt gings mir seit langem nicht mehr. ich werde verregnet und bin triefnass. habe wieder schule und der sommer neigt sich dem ende zu. ich komme wieder in den stress der schule rein und mir ists egal. mir gehts psychisch gut und mir gehts allgemein gut. ich habe mich gut erholt und momentan ist von der dunkelheit nichts mehr zu sehen. ich sehe nur licht.</p>
<p>und neben diversen internen dingen gibt es auch viele sehr gute und schöne dinge in meinem leben, die mir eigentlich jeden tag versüssen. dinge, die ich sehr schätze und auf die ich nie mehr verzichten will.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kacke alter, ich sollte arbeiten. Meine Zeit ist ziemlich eingeschränkt und wenn man mit Druck und Stress zahlen könnte, würde ich mir ne Villa kaufen. Ich sitze in der Schule, hör mir neue Musik an, langweile mich und bin irgendwie blockiert. Ich kann nicht arbeiten. Das ist so scheisse. Ich brauch mal dringend wieder eine oder zwei zusätzliche Stunden Schlaf, sonst werde ich nicht die Nacht auf Dienstag durcharbeiten können wie die auf letzten Montag.</p>
<p>Naja, ich werde sehen, was die Woche bringt, hoffentlich werde ich mit der Arbeit fertig. We'll see.</p>
