Mash-up culture is funny, it was always when not if someone would produce an Obama Rick Roll.  There’s kind of a monkey’s producing Shakespeare effect: get enough people out there pounding away and there are just some pieces of media that HAVE to exist.

Earlier, a commenter of Ezra Klein's wrote about John McCain's inability to count his own homes:

"maybe Feist can make up a new numbers song for a political ad." Oh, if only. "1,2,3,4, lost a house right by the shore, 5,6,7,8, gotta find it before debates..."

And sure enough:

It's not feist herself, obviously, but in the age of mash-up culture, who cares?

(Obviously the Sesame Street people are talented, hip, with-it folks. Not only exemplified by those they get on the show - NPH, Feist, Will Arnett - but check out the similarities between the Feist Sesame Street clip and the actual video for her song. I love me some Sesame Street. Hey sisterkungfuhustler, if the public health thing and the dinosaur-bear gig at the Museum of Natural History don't work out, we should try to be on Sesame Street. Maybe they'll let us clean the dressing rooms.)

As Fashion Week gets closer and I prepare to get back on the Master Cleanse, ugh, Fashion Indie has been getting the scoop on the playlists that will be rocking the runway.

There will be some Santogold, some Coldplay, and some Feist.  But Alexander Wang has the best line up:

“All I can do is hint at what we’ll play during Fashion Week … Foxy Brown and Kelis.”

Fun music definitely makes a good fashion show great. Last season about three shows played D.A.N.C.E. by Justice and I had a BLAST!

[Falling Away With You]

Ok, so this has nothing to do with music, but it does have to do with my other vice, Sesame Street (courtesy of Pop Candy):

You're never too old for Big Bird.

This week a new season of Sesame Street premiered on PBS. While this news is of particular interest to readers with small children, the rest of us have some reason to care, too: The show's 39th season welcomes fun guest stars, including Neil Patrick Harris (on today's show), Arrested Development's Will Arnett (Aug. 18), Feist (that's on YouTube), LL Cool J (Sept. 22) and many more.

Future eps will include appearances by Jonah Hill, Sandra Oh, Molly Shannon, Jessica Alba and others. They're even planning spoof segments called "Pre-School Musical" and "30 Rocks," which I hope will look as good as it sounds.

Check out the show's new website for more Sesame goodness. Celebrity moms Heidi Klum and Jenny McCarthy round out this week's guest appearances.

A sound huzzah for that.

Feist shows up for this year's season premiere and it's really cool.

I always liked it when famous people would just randomly show up on Sesame Street. Here's another great one, albeit, much past my regular viewing days of the Street. Still, it's a fun bit with more monsters and R.E.M. doing "Furry Happy Monsters". Classic. And I LOVE the "Kate Pierson" Muppet.

Sesame Street's 39th Season kicks off on Monday, August 11 with new segments, musical performances, parodies and cast members. Broadcast in HD, this season will feature new street scenes that will bolster a child's math vocabulary. In one notable segment, Will Arnett plays Max the Magician, whose tricks may not be magic, but math! Indeed. Other celebrities joining Arnett this season include Feist (you knew the 1-2-3-4 song was destined for Sesame Street -- if you can't wait, check out the clip below from YouTube, it's fantastic), Jessica Alba, David Beckham, Heidi Klum, Brian Williams, Neil Patrick Harris, Sandra Oh, Jack Black, Jenny McCarthy, Feijoo Sisters and Jason Taylor.

Continuing its tradition to use pop culture to educate, new parodies this season include "30 Rocks," Pre-School Musical" and "Are You Smarter Than an Egg Layer," hosted, appropriately, by Jeff Rocksworthy.

Young viewers will meet a new cast member on the Street this season: Leela, a young Indian-American who embraces her heritage and culture. Murray, already popular from his "Word on the Street" segment, will have a expanded role on the Street with "Murray Has a Little Lamb." Murray will traverse the city following the clues provided by his Spanish-speaking cohort Ovejita. It's a bilingual and cognitive-thinking adventure to discover all kinds of schools -- karate, ice-skating, cooking and more -- all over town.

Also notable this season will be an additional look for Bert and Ernie. The Misseri Studio in Italy has created a stop-motion version of the two friends for Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures.

Sim o fusca, Sr. Tempestade. Adoro as quartas por causa dele no rádio só tocam boas músicas, é incrível e sim FATO todas as quartas são melhores porque quando entro naquele pequeno saio bem só penso em coisas leeeeeeeeeeeeegais. Ai eu vejo um fusca azul calçinha e penso "meu céu" pena mesmo é que não tem uns gatinhos dentro deles. Os amarelos são "meu sol" a luz do meu dia. É divertido mesmo.
Eu sou super normal, porque é tão dificil achar alguém mais normalzinho. Que coisa, não?!

As of a few days ago, 694 Miles Away officially got to 200 hits!! Now, just a few days later, it is at 235!! And before you say, "Well it's probably just you going on everyday" think again. Wordpress does not count your visits to your own blog. So, yes, I'm much happier than I should be, but whatever!

Other than that, nothing else really worth reporting has occurred.

My mom called and talked to someone at the virtual school to get more information today. I don't know exactly what they said, but it must have been good! I think she may be more excited for me to do it than I am! Dad still isn't for it simply because of ignorance. He knows nothing about it, so he rejects it. I tried to explain it to him, but he's too stubborn. He started that speech that goes, "When I was a kid I had to..." fill in the blank with something he probably didn't have to do. Does it really matter if I get up 6am or not as long as I get a good education?

This is the video for the song I included. This is my all time favorite music video!! It's a director's dream; they filmed it all in one take! That is practically impossible considering the complexity of the choreography. All of those people are always there, but the camera angles make it so that you can't see them! Also, I think it's awesome that they just kept the music that they played on set. You see, usually during the filming of a music video, they play the song on set for the artist to lip sing to, but then later, in editing, they put the track in over all the other sound. That makes the sound quality better. But with the "1234" music video they decided not to. Normally the video would have sounded weird, but for some reason, it just worked with this one. Patrick Daughters is a freaking genius!!
