When I listen to the podcast you are immediately drawn to this personable man and to his story.  Levi was featured in the show the Apprentice which became his big break. He has appeared in film, TV and has released a couple of albums. He has written music.

His hit song, “I Should Go” became a hit song on the Days of Our Lives in a major story line.

Kreis roots are in Eastern Tennessee and his music reflects it. He  started in traditional Christian Gospel and has grown to a very soulful, jazz , rock musical niche.  I want to emphasize soul.

Levi speaks of his coming out journey as a gay man and you feel and hear that story through his music. You sense it has been a deeply spiritual, emotional and sensual experience for him.

I recently spent an afternoon with a friend of mine visiting from Long Beach who happened to see Kreis in concert.  Apparently this intensity and sex appeal carries off on stage also. My friend was lustful for Levi.

So Mr. Kreis has all those elements that make him both a consummate artist and a pop star. He has also been a voice for a segment of the gay community- the Christian gays.

No one better understand their challenges than him.

With a new album coming out in fall and the momentum that continues to grow, Levi Kreis is fast filling the role of future music giant.  I believe he is on the verge of a major breakout.

It is hard to get rid of that lump in my throat and the tears that seem to well up in my eyes every time I think that Estelle Getty has passed away. I never knew her personally.  She was simply the oldest of the Golden Girls on TV.  She was crotchety and mischievous Sophia Petrillo , mother of Dorothy Zbormak ( Bea Arthur).  

The biting humor between her and Dorothy was wonderfully played out. In the end you knew they loved each other. Estelle Getty brought an unforgettable character to the small screen to an ensemble of characters that are now part of television legend.

Much younger than she really played ( Bea Arthur is actually older than Estelle), Getty made Sophia believable and endearing. She won an Emmy for the role in 1988.  She has appeared in several TV shows and even had roles in the Mask, Tootsie and Stuart Little.

She was married to Arthur Gettleman until his death in 2004. She is survived by two children.

I pay tribute to a great lady who made us laugh and cry.  I honor her talent and her artistry. Thank you, Estelle for sharing your golden touch with us!  We will miss you!

And someone left this in the comment thread: " cant believe no one believes in free speech anymore... all of you so called conservatives have played directly into "Media Matters" trap! ...good job"

I am not really pro Heath Ledger.

But, the fact remains that the Hollywood is pushing for Heath Ledger to get an Academy Award nod for his portrayal of "The Joker" in "The Dark Knight."

Heath was an actor. A simple male actor. Talented, nonetheless, but let the man be. Mourn, if you must, Hollywood, but don't give the man an Academy Award.

Hollywood could have given two craps about Heath Ledger before his untimely death. However he died, whether it was accidental or suicide, he will unfortunately live on in infamy as one of those rare birds who didn't even make it out of his youth.

He was battling depression, taking anti-depressants, he was taking the sleeping tablet Stilnox along with a few other prescription medications. Police said Heath Ledger's death was caused by a possible drug overdose and appeared to be accidental.

Okay….  I was taken by complete surprise that Gev Manoukian was voted out by America this week. He was my favorite male dancer.   As you can see by my previous blog that I had not seen the finale yet (I recorded it on the DVR). So it was a real shocker to see Gev end his participation in the competition. I was not surprised by the elimination of the female dancer, Kherington Payne.  However, we will see both of them come back later in the season for the finale and also for the upcoming tour.

Twitch, Joshua and Will are great male contenders.  So are Katee and Courtney on the female side.  However, who I really would love to see win the entire thing is Mark or as he is formally known as Mark Kenneth Ioane Kanemura. 

He has been one of the most unique dancers of this competition.  He has delivered some of the most memorable performances. He also has that same quality that Gev has which is sincerity and a performance that comes from the heart.

I am also from the islands so the fact that Mark is from Hawaii does affect my bias a little. However, his talent more than speaks for his abilities. He also has an A+ star personality.
