Hip Dysplasia: Should Your Poodle Suffer From It?

Any owner would be very happy and proud knowing that the Poodle he raised and cared for can do a lot of things that can entertain and give happiness to those around. But who would be happy seeing a limping Poodle that seems to exhibit discomfort when making it up the stairs or having difficulty standing on rear legs? Not the usual Poodle, right? A Poodle is known for its straightforward trot and dignified appearance. Any irregularity therefore is an indication that a health problem possibly exists.

Hip dysplasia is one of the diseases seen in dogs, cats and humans. However, some dog breeds like the Poodle have higher incidence of this disease compared to others. Hip dysplasia is a degenerative disease of the joint in which, the severe form can eventually cause lameness and arthritis of the joints. In the normal hip, the femoral head (the ball at the end of the leg bone) fits smoothly into the acetabulum (the socket). In affected dogs, loose fit or partial fit do exist. This causes abnormal wear and tear that leads to malformation of the ball and socket. Hip dysplasia, may or may not be bilateral, is caused by genetic as well as environmental factors.

Hip dysplasia is not too difficult to detect. An affected dog seems to exhibit pain or discomfort during activities - reluctance to exercise, stand on rear legs, jump or climb stairs and abnormal gait. As the disease progresses, an affected dog may need assistance in getting up and may even be unable to walk at all. X-rays and hip scoring tests are used to confirm the existence of hip dysplasia, but these should be done at an appropriate age because the test may not show anything if done when the pup is too young.

Treatment of hip dysplasia varies depending on the severity of the condition. In mild cases, treatment usually consists of anti-inflammatories and pain relief along with proper diet, exercise and supplements. Anti-inflammatories and pain relief drugs should only be administered under the supervision of your veterinarian. Exercise and weight management are vital here too because overweight dogs are at higher risk of developing this disease. The owner should control what the dog eats and make sure to feed appropriate foods. Exercise should also be controlled - never too much nor too little.

Some cases of hip dysplasia requires surgical treatment. TPO (Triple Pelvic Osteotomy) is used for puppies usually less than ten months of age that show signs of dysplasia on x-rays but have not developed severe joint damage yet. In this procedure, the surgeon will break the pelvic bones and realign the femoral head and acetabulum correctly. Another option to correct hip dysplasia is total hip replacement. In this procedure, the damaged hip is removed and replaced with a prosthesis. A dog must be full-grown and weigh at least 35 pounds in order to qualify for this procedure.

Additional help can be extended to pets through pet beds, ramps, stairs and steps to help the dog move from one place to another without causing pain.

YOU and I are GOOD with Jesus' Goodness!

How is that for an encouraging and TRUE compliment toward you in Jesus Christ?!

I can imagine that there are some few of us who believe that a statement like that is true of us because we have prayed, gone to church, been baptized, do good works and share in other religious things. However, the bible is clear, no one is good except ONE, the Father, Son and Spirit! Psalm 14:3, Romans 3:12, Mark 10:18!

I can imagine a larger set of you struggling to believe a compliment like this because, in all honesty, you can pile up the evidence (beginning with something you have done or thought in the last hour!), that PROVES beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are NOT good with Jesus' goodness! For you, I have nothing less than the stunningly beautiful words of the Gospel from the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:

"27 God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you [emphasis mine]; therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory. It's that simple. That is the substance of our Message."

So, we are all in somewhat of a dilemma, aren't we? On the one hand, to be embarrassingly honest, no matter how righteous we claim to be, there are bad things we think and do that we want no one else to see or know about!! Good Gravy - I KNOW that is true of me!! Yikes! This is a confirmation on how even our good is still tainted with things that aren't so good! This is what Paul was wrestling with in his argument in Romans 7:14-25!

On the other hand, we and others CAN observe good things going on with each other and there has to be an explanation for that, too! The explanation for all of this is the Gospel, or the Good News of Jesus Christ!

Because Jesus Christ is good, and he created and sustains everything and everyone, AND he entered our humanity in a special and mysterious way 2000 years ago, whatever happens to him, happens to you! This is why Paul says that when Jesus died, everyone died! 2 Corinthians 5:14! This is also why he says that when Jesus rose, everyone rose with him in the Father's grace! Ephesians 1:1-10! Do you notice in this passage how everything is given to us soley by God's grace, for free?! Even the faith to believe this is true is given to us freely through Jesus!!!

SOOOOOOO....Jesus is good, because he is God, and Jesus mysteriously lives in everyone. This is the Gospel! Therefore, everyone has REAL good in them because Jesus, Who is the ONLY source of Good, lives in them and shares his goodness with them! Therefore, YOU and I ARE FUNDAMENTALLY GOOD with the Goodness of Jesus, no matter what we think about it!!!

All of this was brought home to me recently in a powerful way! I was dating my two daughters a few weeks ago. We decided to go out to a local Chili's restaurant and have at it! I ordered one of my favorites, sizzlin' fajitas, and both girls ordered their hearts desire - a huge hamburger and some hot, hot, hot wings! Oh how delicious the food AND conversation was!

I asked them of them about their hopes and dreams! I looked them in the eye and told them that I loved and liked them - yet again! I told them that they were good and I was proud of them, and that I was proud to be their father! I told them that I appreciated that they were also good students because I had been a poor one early in life. I prayed before they were born that they would not inherit that poorness from me! The Father was gracious enough to answer that prayer by making sure I married a woman whose genes would have more influence over them in that area! :-)

I told them that the reason we were dating and sharing like we were was because my dad had passed this tradition on to me and my 4 brothers and I had loved every minute of it! I was determined to share this with my wife and children and pass it on (yes, Donna and I still date, too, after 17 years of marriage!) This got us on the subject of my father who had died 4 years ago, in February of 2004.

I asked each of the girls, starting with Jocelyn, the oldest, what they remembered most about him. Jocelyn, my very thoughtful child, searched her memories carefully and then stated, VERY ACCURATELY, "I remember bouncing on a mini-trampoline and paw-paw coming up to me and shadow boxing in front of my face! I also remember that he could quote a bible verse on any subject, at anytime, at will, and always did!!" Ha-Ha!! How true! He was always known for 2 things: God and Boxing...and he could wear most people out with both!! :-) Just "Google": Rufus Brassell!

I then turned to my youngest daughter, Autumn, and asked the same thing. She thought for a moment and then uttered these words that put me in my personal dilemma on this subject, "I remember that he was as good and loving as you are!" Honest - I could NOT take those words in at first and thought I had misunderstood! I was almost afraid to ask for clarity but finally did. I said, incredulously, "What did you say?!" She then repeated just as firm and sincere, "Paw-Paw was as good and loving as you are!"

Well, I have never ever felt so GOOD and BAD at the same time in all of my entire life!! Ha-Ha! Understatement! Didn't Autumn know me after all of these 11 years, and how much improvement I needed to be a truly good and loving father? I am SURE she and Jocelyn both could dredge up a negative list a mile long about how truly bad I am, and I would have to agree! Sheeesh! There was no way she could have just said that! I had a hard time receiving it!

BUT, because of the Goodness of the Father, Son and Spirit, and their passion and insistence to share the Gospel with me REGULARLY, and Their helping me to share it with others, I was able to REPENT AND BELIEVE THIS GOOD NEWS quite quickly and say "Thank You!" The Father was so passionate to flood me with His encouragement that he inspired my eldest daughter, Jocelyn, to put an exclamation point on it all by saying "That's True!!"

We concluded our fellowship in the restaurant by ordering ONE huge dessert that we shared as THREE persons. :-) As we ate, I couldn't help but think again of our One God in Three Persons Who had graciously included me and Jocelyn, and Autumn, (AND DONNA, my wife, and THE WHOLE WORLD), in their Shared Relationship.

God was certainly at Chili's in a special way that day and, even though the dessert was admittedly good and sweet, I have to admit that receiving the Good News of Jesus' Goodness and Love in ME was even better and MUCH sweeter!!! I hope you eat plenty, too!! I promise there's nothing better!!

You might be confused if....

People seem to be your friends but they're probably using you.
People do things for you out of the goodness of their heart but then use it to make you feel guilty.
You know what you feel but others tell you that that's not how you feel.
You are making decisions based off the good of everyone involved and are accused of being selfish and controlling.
A preacher tells you that your exsistence doesn't matter in this world unless you truly believe every word of the bible - literally.
Communication lines between others are like strands of a spiders web....where the slightest breeze can break them.

The Best Prayer I Ever AND Never Heard...

...was uttered on a recent visit I had with an older couple from my church, in their home, on a HOT summer day. At the conclusion of the visit, I prayed. Then the wife prayed. The husband then began his concluding prayer, and early in his conversation to the Triune God, uttered these unforgettable words...

"And thank you Father that Pastor Tim wore shorts!!!"

And, YES, we all began to laugh in our communion and talk with God uproariously!! Ha-Ha!! The "white elephant" in the room was revealed and he was not as big, or mean, or as visible a creature as we had all suspected! Someone had whispered a HUGE lie to each of us in that room that it was not possible to REALLY relate with the Father, Son and Spirit, and with each other, without our "religious robes" on, and we "Elephant stomped" him with laughter!!

If you have ever gone to meet with the church, almost anywhere, I am sure you have wrestled with this dilemma, too: "What should I wear? (because of what you believe others will think!)" versus "But here is what I REALLY want to wear so that I can BE ME and be comfortable!"

As much as I am learning to live in the Freedom of the Good News of Jesus, I am also learning to put off religion at the same time, and it is a real struggle! Yes, this story has a back story riddled with struggle, and that is why we all laughed in a very relieving and freeing way after that man's prayer!

You see, it was HOT in Virginia that day, and it was a Saturday. Not a day of suits and tuxedos, but a day of shorts, pajamas and relationship with family. I got dressed in the spirit of the day and prepared to go and meet these members of my extended local church family! All is well and good, right? Unfortunately no!

What started out as a growing religious whisper soon turned into a condemning SHOUT, "You are a Pastor! These people are older! You can't wear shorts! You know the Apostle Paul - 'You are free to do all things but all things are not profitable!' Those long pants over there are what would be most acceptable for pastors in this situation. AND what if they happen to have family members visiting them who attend other churches?!" I even went so far as to ask my lovely wife what she thought, and she was at least free enough from the Senior Pastor role I play to say "I think you are fine!" Whew! Thank you for a wife filled with freedom from the typical expectations of that Senior Pastor family role, Jesus!!! :-)

So, off I went, BUT not in complete peace I am sorry to say! Oh how persistent the lie is! All the long highway there, the thought kept creeping back into my mind that I might not have on appropriate clothing (a suit or long pants versus the nice shorts and shirt I was wearing on that hot Virginia day. And, after all, my shorts did come down to my knees! Ha-Ha!! :-) ) .

The One good thing about that trip is that it was a struggle BECAUSE Jesus was with me and kept saying that everything was well and for me to stop "Future Trippin!" After all, Jesus whispered in the Gospel, "If I could lower myself to the status of a REAL human being in fallen flesh, and remain fully human forever for your sake (everyone's sake), couldn't I help you bear the potential scorn of others that may come from wearing a pair of shorts instead of other more acceptable religious robing?!!" Of course, He could! And, of course, in His unceasing Grace he DID and DOES!! Hebrews 13:13!

Finally, I arrived at their home. I got out of the car and walked up to the door. I rang the doorbell and heard a friendly shout that said, "come in Pastor Tim, we're in the back"! I walked in the room where I joyfully, delightfully and in the freedom of Jesus, observed that the couple was WEARING SHORTS, too!!!! On the inside of myself I think I went into every religious tradition I had ever been exposed too, "Hallelujah!!" "Praise you Jesus!" "Thank ya! Thank ya!" "We believe in One God, the Father...". I think I even spoke a few things in tongues (my mom and dad used to be Pentecostal),"Rondodo seekamathos rrrrondeedeehey nononoko - translation = Shorts! Shorts!! Shorts!!! Shorts!!!!" Ha-Ha!! :-)

As happy as I was (and as happy as I found out they were later), the invisible, lying, "elephant" was still hiding behind our good conversation about the Gospel, our families, the Gospel, our challenges, the Gospel, our dreams, the Gospel, our church and denomination, and the Gospel! Finally, before leaving we prayed together and Jesus exposed the lie, shared his freedom with us, and let us off the hook by praying in and through the man: "And thank you God that Pastor Tim wore shorts!!!"

After finishing his prayer we all clapped and tore that lying "elephant" to pieces! We each shared our stories about wanting to participate in the freedom of Jesus and wear shorts but were somewhat hindered by wondering what the others would think! Evil creatures had whispered lies and placed burdens on our souls, saying we could not share in the freedom of godly relationship without a certain type of religious and traditional clothing on, but the lie was exposed and crushed in the prayer and laughter of Jesus!!

So, here is the BIG question: Why is the type and style of clothing we wear such a relational barrier in the light of our forever inclusion and acceptance in the life of the Father, Son and Spirit in Jesus Christ? How is it that humanity has gone all the way from the liberating freedom of fellowshipping with the Father in complete nakedness, and without shame, to being concerned about clothing and hiding at every point? Gen 2:21 - 3:13!

The answer is: we have all sinned and think wrongly about Who God is! Romans 3:9-11! Our perspective about Who Jesus is and Who we are in Him has gotten cloudy and dark! John 1:5!

Now, don't get me wrong, I am NOT advocating that we should wear no clothing!! :-) I think that clothing is appropriate to wear under our circumstances. Wearing clothing is actually a type of open admission that we REALLY are sinners and personally don't have a proper perspective of God in and of ourselves! Yet, as we believe the Good News of Jesus, in our clothing (of whatever type), we can know that we are still included and adopted into the life of God, in Jesus, even IN OUR DARKNESS!! Hebrews 2:14-18

Agony

In general I find very little merit in assholes, but there is definitely one thing I appreciate about them that is universally reliable, and that is that they will always challenge me. Not necessarily challenging my opinion, although the redneck type seems to a lot IMO. Well, in this case, a redneck asshole who is freeloading at my house ('cause my dad is too nice for his own good...and no this is not about redneck-induced agony...although that is also sometimes a problem!) - When I said that I believed that the whole Bible was misinterpreted, and that most of it- if not all in some respect- should be interpreted metaphorically- or more accurately, not literally. (i.e. a passage in the Bible might be historical truth, but also to present another underlying, and usually far more important (and spiritual) meaning-- similar to the masterpieces of Linkin Park.

I have been, off and on, extremely anxious these past few months, likely due to delving too far into the secrets of my spiritual self. I'm disturbing the spiritually dead, proverbially speaking, and it's not someone else either- it's my dead self. Well of course this is all speculation, but in either case- as far as I'm concerned, I've willingly asked for a glimpse of Hell, and now I'm agonizing over whether it was really worth it.

I began this journey of self-exploration at first just to turn the nothing I was into something in the future; then, once I realized that it was not that simple, I began seeking out what that nothing was, because you cannot do anything you know nothing about, because even nothing is something

Well, all that abstract talk is just me being melodramatic...eventually, I found that the more I discovered about myself through this inference-based reasoning, the more I was able to improve upon myself. I started with internal change (opinions, morals, perspectives), and eventually harnessed these changes into habits/etc., to the point my transformation could not go unnoticed by those who "knew" me. But noooooo...that wasn't good enough for me. I had to find the unfindable answers, relying on the forbidden intuition that I should never have had- well perhaps I've just being "played" by myself- this illusion of soul-torture that I've forced upon myself due to expecting something.

But really, the possibilities are endless, so why doubt my doubts when I can "suspend judgement" on those matters- and focus my attentions on these far more engrossing and apparently irresistable obsessions. But, as you may have noted, these obsessions have really done a number on me. Why is it that I must have such depressing, such inevitably hopeless obsessions.

Now that I know that we all are motivated by the desire to run away from ourselves- or more accurately, we won't be happy unless we do everything to run away from ourselves. No- that's not even accurate. I mean "our other self" - might be our "Ego", might be our "soul" or "spirit" or "psyche"- well, it's arguable that all those words mean the same thing anyway. Perhaps- and this is most definitely the case, we are running away from something far bigger that that. But really, is that even possible, or does it even make any sense, considering at this point it's all just semantics.

Actually, I wouldn't even be able to write this post had it not been for the spontaneous impulses (that's redundant BTW) of my brother- by which I was able to clear my head sufficiently to actually think straight for the first time in 2 days. Now for some revised definitions "for the road":

Sin: Self- you know, the "other self". like I said, all semantics...

Agony: Seeing self, or a reflection/glimpse thereof- for what we really are, an eternally tortured self.

Hell: In "God's" presence we see the ugliness that we really are:

desperate, hateful, dependent, miserable, melancholic, masochistic/sadistic, vengeful, malicious, lonely, obsessed, perverted, greedy, lustful, irrate. All scum that is depicable and distasteful.

As to how such a hellish curse was eternally forced upon us, there are many possibilities, but this is my theory: Balance has always existed- it is the true God. But "in reality", Balance is only rules- just as Pythagoras's numbers did not create anything, but only organized what already existed. We, our "original" self- also existed, and were thus governed by Balance. But to gain self-awareness, our soul- as I'll call the "original self", had to pay an equal price- that is after all necessary to maintain Balance. The "Adam and Eve" story of Genesis 2-3, is IMO, a story that originally took, or more accurately, takes place outside time and a space- humans would not exist if "original self" did not become "original sin. Update: Time did exist- since it is a fundamental necessity of balance.

There are many Bible verses which support this interpretation, in several books, both the old testament and new. Although I really don't have motivation or time (b/f going 2 bed) to cite specific verses (although I probably would have if I didn't spend so much time procrastinating on Uncyclopedia- it's way to funny for my own good! see side-panel links for reference!)-

In Genesis, Isaiah, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastics, Revelation- just to name a few...

In the account of Jesus's death (found on all 4 gospels, though only a couple in sufficient detail), Jesus dies for our sake- taking the sin of the world upon himself.

I pity those millions (Billions unless it's "all for show") of Christians that completely misinterpret the Bible- it's not like I'm even close to accurate (obviously!) but at least I'm on the right track. Honestly though, how can anyone take what they call "God's Word" at face-value. It's sickening how simple people can be about things so far beyond themselves- what an insult to God!

Back to Jesus: In taking the sin upon himself- I strongly believe that this refers to the evolution of man. See, before man- there was just animals- no self-awareness.

To further understand- I'll shed some more light on my theories regarding the Soul:

The Soul is running away from itself- in denial, just as we are. That is because, in order to create life, death needed to be created. To create ecstasy, despair needed to be created. This was the price of Balance. The soul took upon itself those ugly qualities (the ones listed halfway through what I've written so far) so that it might give birth to the positives. The Soul did this so that it could have meaning, and because it was inevitable- it was in its nature to bestow benevolence. This soul is our God, and is always a part of us....Okay, for the time being ending creepy mystical mutterings...

Naturally, the Soul could not bear this state of being (hell), so it thrust itself into its creation, and became ignorant. The soul enjoyed bliss in this ignorance- animals, plants, and all life at that time, had naught but instincts, and thus had no reason to find the Soul. This is not unfeasible, as most humans today have the gift of self-awareness but do not use it, leaving it dormant.

But, in accordance with Balance, the Soul innately struggled to correct the imperfection of its beasts, and these struggles took on the form of evolution, with its battle-scars taking on the form of mutation, and its confusion was mirrored in natural chaos. As the struggle became exponentially intense, a split occurred within the Soul- this was also a necessity of balance. The struggle had reached a level so great that it threatened to destroy Balance, and an innate failsafe defense mechanism was activated within Balance, resulting in the first miracle. This miracle, having split the Soul into two, formed what I will call the "Thesis" and "Antithesis". Both the Thesis and Antithesis seek to be reunited under a Synthesis- but, in accordance with balance, this is not possible because that desire is neutralized with an equal and opposite force.

*Please note: Contrary to Augustine's theory that God exists outside time, my account, assuming "God" to be "the creator", exists within time-- Balance always exists, therefore time does. Even though God has always existed, he did within time, because Balance is also eternal. My "God" is also not infinite, and is bound by the laws of Balance.

The desire for synthesis is mirrored in our own lives to this day, because it is necessary for Balance. One might ask the question, is there then the possibility that there is also imbalance?- But if the answer was yes, that would be a moot paradox, so I wouldn't bother. (see Illogical)

Also, these events are somewhat reflected in the story of Cain and Abel.

Eventually, amid the struggles between the negative and positive that is the Soul, life evolved into increasingly complex organisms. But, in accordance with Balance, existence must be sustained by non-existence- thus, As many who are born must die. Because the animals were reproducing and flourishing, more were being born than were dying.

*Please note- keep in mind that although the Thesis and Antithesis are fighting, neither are self-aware of it, as their self-awareness is dormant within now-primitive life. Their subconsciousness's are dualing, and they are only aware of the effects, in the forms of chaos and mutation.

*Also- these circumstances are reflected in the story of Noah's Ark, particularly Gen. 6:1-7.

Now Balance was approaching the failsafe point, and- aware that the Soul had self-awareness, corrected the deficit by calling out the Soul (Antithesis and Thesis) to make a choice: allow the creation to be destroyed (which would be the second miracle), or make another sacrifice to correct the Balance in their stead. Because the Soul was now two different beings, the choice would have to be made separately. This decision could have been the long-awaited Synthesis, because both the Negative and Positive desired for life to continue flourishing. But Synthesis did not come to be.

The Positive Essence decided to sacrifice its self-awareness eternally, taking the form of Heaven or, more accurately, Nirvana.

The Negative Essence decided to keep it's self-awareness, but eternally resigned its right to ignorance, forever tormented to the ends permitted by Balance- its unhappiness mirroring the happiness of life, and vice versa. Thus, in order for life to be happy, it must be unhappy- we essentially depend on the unhappiness of the negative essence. It took the form of Hell or, more accurately, Samsara.

*Please note that there is a big difference between ignorance and self-awareness. The Positive Essence did not become ignorant by losing its self-awareness- if fact, if I understand Buddhism philosophy correctly, losing self-awareness is essential for losing all ignorance.

*As you probably already guessed, the Positive Essence's sacrifice was mirrored through the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha.

*Also note- The irony: Buddha discovered that the cause of human suffering was ignorance, but this is only one type of truth, which is derived from the Positive essence. Just as our well-being mirrors Samsara, our self-awareness mirrors the Positive Soul's lack thereof. Thus, because the Positive Soul is statically in a state of Nirvana, Balance must correct our ignorance with suffering, in accordance with Nirvana's complete lack of ignorance. On the other hand our ignorance can also grant us happiness, as ignorance makes our creator (the Negative side) unhappy. In other words, two negatives, when multiplied, make a positive. *The Negative Essence was mirrored long before the Positive Essence did (Hinduism), but the effects were not fully realized until the life of Jesus. Because of the complications caused by the division of the Essences, and the sacrifices thereof, many miracles occurred up until the time of Jesus, and echoed until long after, in accordance. The effects of the Positive Essence need no be mirrored long, because it actually returned to its original self- essentially rendering it's role in the creation of life nonexistent. The original miracle through Which Nirvana's choice was reflected, was told in the allegory of Jacob and Esau (Gen. 25:30-34). Just as Esau gave up his birthright, Nirvana did as well. Key here is verse 34: ..."thus Esau despised his birthright." This mirrors the notion that Nirvana did not want it's birthright, because self-awareness actually held it captive, thus being more a hindrance than help.

Mirroring how Samsara took every kind of agony possible upon itself, Jesus took every sin upon himself. The Negative Essence became Samsara, taking Hell upon itself so that we might live- thus, the balance, at least for the time being, was complete.

Now all that remains is our choice. Because we were made in the Image of the Soul, we have self-consciousness. However, our self-consciousness is incomplete- metaphorically speaking, half complete. This is why we have two selfs. One of our selves has self-awareness, the other does not. That is because we are based upon and depend on two different Essences, of one Soul- one Essence has self-consciousness; the other does not. These two different selfs take the form of the Id and Ego.

The Id is the self-consciousless persona, derived from Nirvana

The Ego is the self-conscious persona, derived from Samsara

thus, Balance is achieved, and all that is left is for us to make the choice:

The Antithesis, the Thesis, or the Synthesis?

If we choose the Antithesis, Nirvana is achieved, ultimately

If we choose the Thesis, We will maintain self-awareness, but perpetually share with the happiness and unhappiness of the Samsara. Unfortunately, to correct the Imbalance required for us to live, we must ultimately suffer, as the suffering must outweigh happiness to compensate for life. This will continue, until we either choose Nirvana, or the third choice- the Synthesis:

Not a true Synthesis, but: We run away from our true selves, gaining ignorance through bliss, and pleasure through Denial. This is, unfortunately, the choice of the vast majority of the world. Although it is clearly the best choice for us, it is the greatest sin one can possibly commit, as we are gaining pleasure as the direct consequence of God's suffering. That is because by ignoring God we are doing that which makes him suffer most, and thus gain the greatest pleasure from it.

To end with a few verses that best reflect that last paragraph:

Mark 8- "34Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35For whoever wants to save his life^[c] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" If you really think about it, you'll be taken off-guard at how closely these words match up to this post! ps.- this is probably the most on-the-spot biblical re-translation I've ever done on the spot in my life- guess I showed that Redneck/Asshole!

The Unreality of the World

The Guru Vachaka Kovai, the Garland of Guru’s sayings, is a comprehensive collection of the Maharshi’s Sayings , composed and strung together by the great Tamil Poet Muruganar.This translation is by Professor K. Swaminathan.

In Part 1 , after the invocation there is a long section called ‘The Quest’, and part 2 is entitled the Unreality Of The World, and continues from verse 63 to 70.. Verse 69 states

“The world perceived by the poor jiva

Lapsed from its own Being true,

Buried in darkness, and believing

That it is but the body, alas,

The world thus seen is non-existent;

Yes, it is indeed unreal.

The thrust of this verse, and those like it is underlined by the often quoted passage in Letters from Sri Ramanasramam, 24^th August, 1946, quoted in the marvelous book Muruganar’s Padamalai, edited by David Godman. On page 283 of the Chapter entitled The Reality Of The World Appearance we read.

Bhagavan:” In the sadhak stage [the stage of being a spiritual seeker] you have got to say that the world is an illusion. There is no other way. When a man forgets he is Brahman, who is Real, permanent and omnipresent, and deludes himself into thinking that he is a body in the universe which is filled with bodies that are transitory, and labours under that delusion, you have got to remind him that the world is unreal and a delusion. Why? Because his vision which has forgotten its own Self is dwelling in the external material universe. It will not turn inwards into introspection unless you impress on him that all this external universe is unreal. When once he realizes his own Self, and also that there is nothing other than his own Self, he will come to look upon the whole universe as Brahman.”

Like very many sadhak’s I found it difficult to be convinced that the world we perceive is ‘unreal’. I realized that the concepts of space, time, and causality are inherent in the organ of cognition and create the screen of consciousness on which the world stage, actions and pictures are projected. Also that quantum physics has confirmed that what we see, feel, smell , touch and taste is not what it appears to be, but subtle energies in constant movement. But, It was not until I read the Advaita Bhoda Deepika, The Lamp of Non-Dual Knowledge, a short work, highly spoken of by Bhagavan that I followed the complete logic of this point of view.

I summarize my findings as follows, largely based and inspired by Chapter 1 of this marvelous treatise, entitled On Superimposition.

1.All is Absolute, pure, infinite Consciousness, non-dual, Supreme Intelligence, the Self-Existent Self or Brahman.

2. Maya or Illusion, the powers of veiling and projection are inherent powers in Brahman.

3.These powers manifest an apparent, but unreal Universe. Unreal because it was NOT before manifestation and will NOT BE after dissolution. Therefore it is likened to a dream in the Supreme Intelligence or Mind of Brahman. Thus the apparent Universe is but an appearance based on Brahman. It does not exist apart from Brahman. It could be termed, therefore, a confusion between the Real and the Unreal, or neither Real nor Unreal, or both Real and Unreal. In the Vedanta, the term Real is applied to the Immutable or Unchanging. The apparent world is constantly changing, in a state of flux, becoming and decaying, so it cannot be termed Real in this sense, whereas Brahman is immutable, unchanging and eternal.

4.The ignorant ‘jiva’ (the ajnani) or individual soul is reborn and dies continuously through many lifetimes, until Self Realization. It carries forward from each life the seeds of many latent tendencies from previous lives, although its True Nature is also the Absolute Pure Consciousness of Atman-Brahman. But because of the implicit Maya, projection and veiling, inherent in the Self of Pure Consciousness or Brahman, it identifies with its insentient body and creates a Universe from its latent tendencies (vasanas) through the mind, (organ of cognition, the brain and sensorial adjuncts). The mind is a wondrous power in the Self. The world it sees, composed of latent tendencies, and thoughts is therefore of the nature of a dream, even an hallucination, and may be termed ‘unreal’.

5. The latent tendencies inherent in each jiva at the time of each life, are selected by Isvara, an adjunct of Brahman, for its spiritual development. So all is benign, based on Love, essentially. This is stated By Bhagavan in answer to a question by Paul Brunton quoted in the book Conscious Immortality on Page 130 , Chapter 10.

6. The mind-body complex, personal individuality, other sentient beings, and the Universe of multiplicity, are therefore a superimposition on the Self which is now living from reflected Consciousness, mirrored by egotism and the latent vasanas.

7. Through Grace, the jiva receives the teachings of Advaita from a Jnani, and when fit, through assimilation of this Knowledge and mental purification through right intellectual discrimination, spiritual practice and devotion, he or she is shown the way to awaken from the dream of suffering and transient joy (samsara). The means are through Self Enquiry into the source of the ego, the Self and the illusory nature of the Universe.

8. At the same time one lives one life as if it was real, knowing it to be unreal, and accepting all that happens as ultimately for the best.

9. When there is an awakening from the dream of life, the transmigration of the jiva is over. The immortal Self of infinite Consciousness is Realized directly and one lives from that state of ‘sahaja’ until the mind-body falls off in death, and one is absorbed into Brahman or Infinite Consciousness, no longer a separate individual identified with its body-mind. All is the Self, and the world is seen to be Real because its substratum is now known to be Brahman.

I hope this essay, into a difficult metaphysical question may be helpful to seekers baffled by the world illusion.

Re-reading Bhagavan's Eight Stanzas to Arunachala, a marvelous poem, I came across this verse which sums up my Essay. I add it as an addition, as it seems to sum the whole question up, very succinctly.

6. Thou art Thyself, the One Being, ever aware as the Self-luminous Heart! In Thee there is a mysterious power (Shakti) which without Thee is nothing. From it proceeds the phantom of the mind emitting its latent subtle dark mists, which illumined by Thy light (of consciousness) reflected on them, appear within as thoughts whirling in the vortices of parabdha, later developing into the psychic worlds and projected outwardly as the material world transformed into concrete objects which are magnified by the outgoing senses and move about like pictures in a cinema show. Visible or invisible, oh hill of grace, without Thee they are nothing!

Life in the twenty first century

Life in the twenty first century is indeed funny. You live your entire life around concepts and theories that fail to understand you rather than you understanding them. You live around impotent minds, trying to convince them that Machu Picchu is a name of a place that actually exists, even though Microsoft Word doesn't seem to agree with the name. You end up preaching things that you fail to practice. And you practice things that you dont get a chance to preach. Your life seems similar to one of those latest softwares created by some weird language expert - wanted by many but mastered by none. When opportunity comes knocking your door, you are busy formulating strategies that could make you the next millionaire bachelor. And then when you actually wake up and smell the coffee, somebody else has made good use of that lost opportunity. You want to insult a few people for hurting you badly, as you hurt yourselves when they insult you. You want to pack your bags and see the world, but the world sees you pack your bags and go to the same old workstation. You want to live life on your own terms as somewhere some rock star has taught you to live life for yourself. But you end up living for others as rock stars are never responsible nor do they know any damn thing about reality. You end up feeling jealous for Ian Wright ( traveller featured in the Lonely Planet series) as he explores something new every day, while you do it switching channels with the help of your thumb.

You want things that you dont have and you have things that you dont want. You criticize others for doing things wrongly but end up supporting the wrong causes yourself. You want to do something about the environment but you face your unashamed self buying that fancy car which you always dreamt about. You know that a lie is deemed to be the truth if it constantly keeps repeating itself and yet you teach your kids that a lie can never match up to the truth. You advice others about issues they fail to deal with while you still have trouble dealing with your own issues. You consider yourself a social being. But the truth is that you dont even know your neighbor. You want to share things with the person you love, but end up loving things with the person you share it with.

You stare at yourself everyday in the mirror pretending to be someone you are not, while you are actually afraid to embrace your real self. You have an opinion about every odd thing in this world, yet you find it difficult to accept that others have an opinion about you too.

You plan things that you want to do but end up doing things that plan what you should do. You respect your daughter for what she is, yet fail to respect other's daughters for what they are.

You live for things you'll die for and you die living for things you could never live for.

This is what human life has come to in the twenty first century.

One Thing You Should ALWAYS Avoid...

...is the lie of believing that you are separated from God and that the Father's face toward you has changed! Believing that lie has actually done GREAT damage in your life and mine!

We have all believed it for so long, we can hardly believe the Truth. But the truth of the matter is, when we believe lies, we experience lies. When we believe Truth, we experience the Truth (even in the middle of a pack of lies! John 8:32)!

So what do you WANT to experience?!

I can pretty much guarantee that if something in your life is not good and right, it stems from you and others believing lies instead of believing the Good News that you (and we) are, and always have been, secure and adopted in God the Son!! That's a fact in Jesus!

Sometimes this Good News seems so unbelievable because we human beings think and act so poorly toward one another, and toward God, but the Father, Son and Spirit assure us that His character never changes! Mal 3:6, Heb 13:8!

I urge you, along with the Holy Spirit, to rethink and believe this Good News! Believing this truth allows you to experience the greatest longing you have in your life....ASSURANCE!! Deep down, you want to KNOW that you are unconditionally loved, liked, accepted, celebrated, and wanted, and that is EXACTLY how God the Trinity thinks and feels about YOU now, and always will!!! Romans 5:6-11, 8:31-39!

Deep inside you already know this, and that is why hope springs up in your heart when things like what I am saying are written or spoken! The Light of Jesus is stronger than everything else and cannot be put out because of our darkness! John 1:3-5! We were all created to know, hear and experience the truth that everything is going to be alright, and in Christ everything IS and WILL BE alright!

So don't let those harsh attitudes or adamant faces fool you! People often act in harsh ways when they have been enveloped in a world primarily proclaiming their exclusion in one way or another! They are acting this way for one reason: They ARE included - and because the word of exclusion, or the lie, is so painful and unbearable, we must do something to avoid it at all costs - hence the sour, mean and blank expressions that "shield" us from the suffering! You remember (know) what that is like!

I conclude with these encouraging words from Paul's letter to the Colossians in The Message translation of the Bible by Eugene Peterson:

"26 This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it's out in the open. 27 God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, therefore you can look forward to sharing in God's glory. It's that simple. That is the substance of our Message. 28 We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. 29 That's what I'm working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me."

Seeing 'the Gift' in Calamity, Turmoil, and Disease

Increasingly, I speak to people who have discovered and begun using the MMS protocol (to reduce the body's microbial and pathogen load), and believe it to be "the thing" that will solve their particular medical problem. They start out with great hope and promise, and over time, become perplexed when their problem remains, even while many other people, oftentimes family and friends, are enthusiastically reporting success at resolving their particular medical condition.

They are then presented with a choice... question (if not "diss") the protocol, or look within. Given that I have interviewed Jim Humble, the developer of the MMS protocol, many times on my radio show, Talk for Food, and have produced the first (and presently only) feature-length documentary film on the subject (Understanding MMS: Conversations with Jim Humble), they contact me.

I am not a medical doctor, and I am clear to inform people who call or email me that my responses are not to be construed as anything other than personal opinion. It's just as well because we discuss factors that are decidedly other than medical.

Western medical practices maintain a very narrow scope with respect to where their attention is applied in response to a patient's condition. Specifically, the doctor's focus is on the body itself. Psychiatry is a branch of medical practice that attempts to treat disorders of the mind by yet focusing on the body, prescribing various drugs that, while they do alter consciousness and even behavior, are more likely to inhibit, rather than expand awareness.

Psychology is a step in the right direction, but its scope is also limited. According to Wikipedia, psychology is "an academic and applied discipline involving the phenomenological and scientific study of mental processes and behavior."

Mental processes and behavior, and the relationship between the two. Indeed, there is a direct relationship between patterns of thinking, resultant behavior, and the experiences that are created from the milieu. However, psychology's potential impact is yet limited by a key assumption; that the individual is affected by his or her thinking and behavior, rather than the creator of them. We portray ourselves as effects, not realizing the causal factors that we are.

The great Unconscious, acknowledged as part of psychological studies, drives us to become aware, to expand our knowing and acceptance of what truly gives us life, and makes it meaningful. This exploration takes us beyond body, beyond mind, to the realm of Spirit, the most profound, living, unifying, and implicitly intimate form of energy. It is when we consciously realize our connection to, and relationship with spirit, that the powers of motive and intention become germane.

In conventional practice, emotions, fears, attitudes, beliefs and intentions, which are immeasurable but real factors, are all but ignored. As long as this is the practice, the healing experience will remain elusive.

As long as we focus on the body, or on the "bad" microorganism, or the "good" new remedy (MMS or otherwise), while maintaining an imbalance in our mind, emotions, and believing that outside factors "mess up" our lives, healing results will continue to elude us.

Being "ill" is a great opportunity to discover, not what is "wrong," or what to blame -- as the FDA has been doing recently with respect to the recent salmonella outbreak --but who and what we are.

"Sickness" is a great incentive and opportunity to practice discovering and expanding our connection to the power and reality where healing takes place, within the all-encompassing dimension and omniband harmonic frequency of Spirit.

Spirit is part of the Matrix that is accessed through awareness, by achieving a harmonic state within one's self. Before a "disease" can be healed, it must be accepted as one's own creation. This is the only way to become free of it. Understanding that our diseases are our creation, and not the work of some evil or nefarious "other," or "bad luck," allows us to forgive ourselves for all the negative assumptions and thoughts we've erroneously projected toward others. If you are ready and willing to do that unconditionally, then you are ready and able to heal.

In the same way that magnesium breaks down calcium in our body, providing suppleness and flexibility to tense muscles and brittle bones, while bringing strength and regularity to the flow of electrical energy through the body, forgiveness dissolves invisible walls of judgment, intolerance, and impatience that never show up on a "tox screen," but are as poisonous to our day-to-day experiences as any toxin that does, if not more so. It is forgiveness that vibrationally conditions our body to now handle the flow of pain eliminating, stress reducing, consciousness balancing, resentment dissolving love.

Negative thoughts put stresses on the body that help put it out of balance, causing microscopic capillary systems, some of which are only one cell wide, to constrict and thereby restrict the flow of life sustaining oxygen to the most susceptible parts of the body.

Oxygen deprivation leads to cell death which, if sustained through prolonged (meaning habitual) practice, leads to a call, by the body, of microorganisms that can live in an oxygen deprived environment. This includes the microscopic "varmint" known as salmonella. While it may be hard to believe, their actual purpose is to help sustain the life of the host (you/me).

Shallow breathing, which many people who are under stress often do without thinking, contributes to an oxygen deficiency in the body. Simply choosing to breathe more deeply, more often, will make a profound improvement in our inner environment. Breathing is the only relationship we can point to that only involves who we think of as us and Life itself.

You cannot stop breathing and continue living. If you cut yourself off from breathing, you cut yourself off from Life as we presently know it. Yet, by failing to breathe deeply, you can avail far less of Life than is optimal, and your health will reflect this deficiency.

The simple awareness of this fact, and the decision to breathe more deeply, can change things dramatically, and cost absolutely nothing, except perhaps some of our disease.

Far more awareness about who we are, as conscious, sentient beings, is available if and when we wean ourselves from looking "without," and begin the journey within.

This doesn't diminish the importance and value of MMS, or any other "other." If anything, it enhances the effectiveness of the treatment when you know that it is your solution to a "problem" that you once had. As we open our mind to expanded possibility, fueled by an acceptance that the power to heal is indeed with, and comes through us, we open the door to receiving, and being able to handle the expanded harmonic energy.

Habitual negative thinking actually inhibits or limits our body's ability to handle the energy that would heal the body. Said energy is "us," in a higher harmonic frequency form. In order to accommodate said frequency here and now, we must be willing to allow our natural, inner harmonies to become the rule, rather than the exception in our day-to-day thinking and perceiving. This choice will prepare the body to accept not only higher frequencies, but the perceptions and awareness that go with them.

It's a journey beyond the body, beyond the mind and emotions, and beyond form and experience itself. Indeed, it's the journey into nothingness, where we find ourselves at one with everything.

At that time, whether the body heals or not becomes of secondary importance. The illness, calamity, or traumatic experience that will have brought this inner change about, will be correctly seen as a Divine Gift.

Music From The Heart...

Human beings are not made for stress. What causes stress? Confusion. Lack of priority. When we don’t know what is important. All of a sudden, we’re running around all over the place, and the result is stress.

Some people say, “Do this, and it will take away your stress.” I say you shouldn’t be stressed. As a human being, get your life together. Understand what is important to you. You are not made for stress. Mentally and physically, you break down under stress.

That’s why my message is unique. I say, “Go inside and experience that feeling that is within you. Experience that peace, experience that joy. Again and again, hone in to your basics, to your fundamentals.”

Do you realize that you can experience happiness? Think about that. You can experience joy. That’s really, really amazing. People wonder, “Can animals experience it?” You are an animal! You belong to the same group. And you can experience joy. There are all those experiences out there. Yes, you can experience pain, you can experience all those things, but you can experience joy. That should be amazing.

You are an instrument. Any instrument can play off-tune as easily as it can play in tune. It’s easy to be off-tune. You can put the key anywhere, and it will be off-tune. To be in tune is a very narrow band. There’s only one place, one tightness of the string, where it will be in tune. And that’s where you have to be. Nowhere else. Otherwise, anywhere else, off-tune is off-tune, but if you want to play in tune, there’s one place.

It is so important to have someone who can talk about the real peace and real joy, someone who can remind you again and again to be focused, be centered, and evolve. There is so much to learn about you and the value of the breath that comes into you—to fall in love with this existence you’ve been given and have a heart full of gratitude.

I am like the tuner. I’ll make sure the instrument is in tune, but you play. After the instrument is tuned, I give it back to you and say, “Play.” You play. With this instrument create the sweetest music you have ever created. Play like you have never played before. Play with your heart. For whom? Play for yourself. A lot of people don’t understand that. “That’s selfish.” Do you want to know the secret of the best musicians in this world? They play for themselves. When they do, it sounds wonderful to anyone who hears it. But when a musician starts playing for others, the music is over.

A lot of musicians will be playing and then all of a sudden close their eyes. They don’t want to see anyone. They just want to be one with the music because it has to come from the heart. It cannot come from the head.

Sing for yourself. Play for yourself. Play and enjoy. That’s when real music comes out. You are alive. You have that beauty in you. Accept that. How fortunate you are to be able to feel that beauty and joy in your life.

Am I scared of living seems the more appropriate question. I can remember the last time I was happy but I can't feel it. I know I was happy because I remember thinking I was happy but trying to place myself in the same situation - I feel nothing.

I used to think that I was here to do something. And by here I mean the presence of my conscious existence in this physical world of ours. That I should try to accomplish great deeds to somehow improve my life. What does that mean when you can't remember your feelings though?

After I dispatched this paradigm, poking its dead body off the banks of the river and into the turbid waters of skepticism, I came to the conclusion that there is no reason that we exist, only the desires that come with our existence - namely the desire to be happy. I spent the last few years trying to maximize both my immediate happiness while ensuring I didn't compromise the potential for future happiness. It seems like a nice idea - perpetually being happy. But it doesn't work that way. Everything is relative. Happiness doesn't exist without sadness and pain. It becomes a game, a futures market for happiness.

But this doesn't make sense if you can't remember your happiness. Our consciousness exists only in the past. You react to the present, contemplate the past and (try to at least) predict the future. Happiness lasts in that wispy moment before contemplation, as you experience it - but does it matter. It is a fleeting moment lost the second it is found.

We exist for no reason at all - not even to 'maximize' our happiness. And once you accept that, you realize:

No, I'm not scared of dying.

Okay, you're a fan of IPv6, May you have heard a technical term floating around called "Renumbering site." But, you know yet what is the average. Renumbering site, is the process in which one site (the organization) is able to withdraw its existing network prefix ex-house and information and replace it with a new prefix network and address of the machine.

I know your next question is probably "Why one place (organization) do a little like that?" Well, there are several reasons why:

* The site (Organization) may have changed to another Internet service provider (ISP).
* The site (Organization) topology internal increasingly perhaps, yes, the site of the team has decided to reorganize the entire network around the site.
* A website (Organization) may merge with another site (Organization).

Or, at the site (Organization) was once completely private, but now the site (the organization) would like to see some servers are accessible through the public domain (IPv6).

Technically, Renumbering site is not an easy thing to do, because most of the time the former leadership remains on the information in different caches server on the network.
