CarbonSpeed from Japan, sorry, I mean ChargeSpeed Japan put a lots of Carbon Fibre in their new Bottom Line Kit for Mitsubishi Evo X. Personally, I prefer the Sequential Black Illusion, but this bodykit is also okay. Just maybe put this bodykit on another Evo color, cause this Evo red somehow is not cool enough. You may wanna consider white or black. Or you can paint your Evo in Lamborghini Reventon's color, it'll make your bodykit and your Evo looks absolutely gorgeous!

This is one sick looking bodykit!Evo X was meant to be aggressive and fast , and this bodykit makes it furious. The already-good-looking Evo X spoilers were completely redesigned. Sequential Black Illusion kit is priced about US $2000, not that expensive for one good looking bodykit.

I found a pretty rare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X by Hot Wheels a few weeks back - I was at Takashimaya just when the Hot Wheels rack was being re-stocked. As you can see in the photographs below, it is not as detailed as the Tomica model, but still a beauty to look at.

[wp_caption id="attachment_165" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="The Tomica model definitely is the better-looking model, and comes with suspension and working doors!"][/wp_caption]

One of the rarest Matchbox cars to be found is the Porsche 911 GT3.

And finally, my $3000 baby - a Hot Wheels Ferrari FXX. It's worth so much because I traveled all the way to Tokyo to get it. The funny thing is, the Japanese hang all these awesome HW models on the racks and it seems like they've never been touched before. Here in Singapore the good models get snapped up by those idiots who are only interested in selling them away for profit, aka scalpers. You wouldn't want to introduce a scalper to me.

[wp_caption id="attachment_169" align="alignnone" width="225" caption="The most powerful Ferrari yet, the FXX is an experimental model based on the Ferrari Enzo."][/wp_caption]

With all the hype going around about the GT-R, the new Evo X hasn't been getting the attention that it deserves. I've really grown to like the car even though at first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about it since it is such a drastic change in every aspect from the styling to the engine from the previous Evos. The car responds really well mods and with a bit over a grand for some bolt-ons and ECU reflash, you can easily get 75+ whp which is really impressive. The car is still relatively new so with a little bit more time, we should be seeing some more products for the Evo X. I'm excited to see what is in store in the future.

The new Zeal Function-A coilovers for R35 GT-R with the remote reservoirs and Staubli option. Left this one high-res so you can take a closer look.

Of course, it's display only. So don't call me asking for this.. I'll just hang up.

I finally found some time this afternoon to hunt for cars and I initially wanted to look for Hot Wheels but seems like whatever Singapore has at the moment has been snapped up by the more enthusiastic collectors, so I got this Tomica Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X instead.

The first time I saw the car on the local roads, I thought it looked ugly. However the more I see them ( seems like it has become popular with Singaporeans ) the more I appreciate its aggressive look. To me it is the perfect design for a Japanese street racer.

Now I can't wait for Tomica to release the new Nissan GT-R, which has often been compared with the above car in various automotive magazines.

By the way I will be visiting Tokyo for a few days in late May and I'm planning to hunt for some old discontinued Tomica models like the Nissan Skyline undercover police car, and also Hot Wheels models which seem to be more common than rare. I think I will also get a new digital camera - I've got my eyes set on the new Canon Ixus 970IS which costs $669 SGD here while at Yodobashi it only costs slightly more than $400, though it does not come with warranty but who cares? I don't need to pay $200 for my camera to be covered, which again rarely breaks down compared to other electronics. Hopefully I'm allowed to bring my laptop so that I can blog during my time in Japan - I will definitely take some on-location shots. Hint hint?

Many a time I’ve heard people saying that it’s the wheels that make the car, however of

Many a time I've heard people saying that it's the wheels that make the car, however of late I've been wondering if that common saying should be revered to say that it's the car that makes the wheels. So that you might understand this slightly-pointless rant a little better, let me elaborate.

I don't know if it's the same with everyone or if it's just that my brain is a little more warped than the average Joe because of a large history of eating certain species of fungus I probably shouldn't have, but have you ever noticed that you might not think very highly of a certain type of wheel until you saw them on a car you absolutely adored?

For me this happened only a few days ago when I dug up a photo of that absolutely pristine series VIII Evo owned and built by A Spec. While I never hated the Volk RE30 type of wheel, I never actually liked them much either and I didn't seem to think much of them whenever I saw them on any car. And I certainly could never see myself buying a set for any car I would personally own either.

This all changed when I spied them on this car and now I think these wheels are the automotive equivalent of a particularly good traditional serving of Nasi Ayam (look it up if you don't know it) when you get down to the salty bones of the bird and suck on them for five minutes to get all the flavour out.

I've been thnking for a while that my next car would be a CT9A Evo of some description but I did plan on putting CE28Ns on it as I've always had a soft spot for those babies, however I think my mind is now permanantly fixated on getting a set of bronze RE30s.

I mean really they're not a whole lot different than the CE28N anyway, but if that was the case then why didn't I like them in the first place? Perplexing I know, if slightly unecessary.

So back to my point at the start, if it truly were the wheels that made the car, I would have loved every car I set eyes on which were wearing RE30 shoes. But I didn't. But when I saw them on this Evo, I wet my pants a little which I think gives credibility to the fact that it's the car that makes the wheel.

So, todays rant; pointless? Probably. You still read it though.

This is the new aero gear that Deck debuted for the Evo X recently and as you can see, it's very subtle. Almost a little too subtle if you ask me.

All up there's a front lip spoiler, carbon wing mirrors and a teeny-weenie rear spoiler (if you can call it that), which you can nab for just under 78,000 Yen (RM2415, $760 USD), but for that price you're not getting a whole lot are you? I can't say that its the most expensive set of aero mods out there, but it's also not very noticeable.

I can see this appealing to a certain mindset of people, however I don't think the minimalist thing works so well with the hostile and angular form of the Evo X. You need jutting carbon canards, bodykits that were styled to look like a stealth fighter and a rear wing that wouldn't look out of place on a top fuel drag racer.

You want your brand new Evo X to look as if it's going to rip the head off anyone who dares to oppose it, feast on their still-warm entrails and then ask for seconds. This just doesn't do that for the car.

I'll say that it's nice, but I won't say much more.

Sorry to any of the Evo X fanatics who read this blog, but I always have loved the CT9A series Evos

Sorry to any of the Evo X fanatics who read this blog, but I always have loved the CT9A series Evos and I can safely say I'd rather have one parked in my garage than one of the new series 10 Evolutions. Hey, that could just be my own misguided personal opinion, however its examples like this one here that make a pretty good argument for my case.

This is a stateside Evo VIII, one of the demo cars hailing from the garage of A Spec Performance. And if you thought the outside of this thing looked overly-aggresive as if it were about to deliver a ball-rending kick to your groin, just wait until you hear what's lurking underneath.

Just about every unecessary piece of embellishment has been removed from the bosom of this Evo, being replaced with an aluminium rear firewall, SPL rollcage, Recaro bench and a Nardi Deep Corn Rally 350 wheel.

As far as the heart of this titan is concerned, the 4G63 was turned over to legendary F1 engine builders Cosworth in order to wring every possible horse out of the Mitsubishi powerplant. The pistons were replaced with CP forged items, while the rings and rods were rejected in favour of pieces that could handle the eventual power output. Cosworth then ported the head, balanced and blueprinted the piston assembly back to the stock crank, added new springs, retainers, valves, camshafts, camgears and then put the whole lot back together.

And as for forced induction, this duty would now be handled by a Garrett 3071 turbocharger which would coerce the rebuilt engine into producing a mighty-excellent 470PS.

Visually the car is decked out with a Gram Lights front bar -- which I think is one of the best you can get for this series of Evo -- A Spec front fenders, APR carbon mirrors and GT wing, as well as a Seibon bonnet and trunk. As for the rolling stock, a set of Volk RE30s were chosen, which hide some serious Project Mu 4-piston stopping power.

As far as Evos go, they simply don't get much better than this. And if you disagree with me, just remember; I know where you live.

Kakimoto recently released another exhaust system for the new CZ4A Evo just over a week ago, however

Kakimoto recently released another exhaust system for the new CZ4A Evo just over a week ago, however I must have been sniffing too much glue that day as I missed it. Anyway, I thought I'd bring it to the attention of all the Evo X buffs that are regular readers of the blog.

Slightly differenty to the single-outlet Hyper Fullmega N1 setup they released a few weeks back, this one has twin pipes like the standard affair that comes bolted on from the factory. It's slightly pricier than the 5Zigen item I featured yesterday at 131,250 yen (RM4085, $1285), though I think this one is a whole lot sexier, featuring the blued burned tips which are missing from the 5Zigen pipes.

And as is the case with all Kakimoto exhausts, I can guarantee you that this one will sound absolutely astonishing when compared to the factory item, and is a little more exclusive than the more-common 5Zigen pipes.

Want one? Check out Kakimoto's website.

New Evo not breathing as well as it could? Well then you probably need something like this - 5Zigen's ProRacer ZZ exhaust system for the Evolution X.

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the twin-exhaust setup, personally preferring a larger, single exit like the one Kakimoto released not long ago that I wrote about in this post, however I'm sure it'll appeal to someone - maybe even you.

It's a decent whack more expensive than the previous models released by 5Zigen or the Evo VII-IX models, though if you're wanting to get an early lead on your competitors with your brand new Mitsubishi toy, that probably won't matter so much.

Retailing at 118,650 yen (RM3690, $1160 USD), you can pick one up from eith 5Zigen's Japanese or American websites...that is, if you own an Evo X.

Let me say right from the start of this post that I love Mother Earth. No really, I do. She provides me with all sorts of things I need like air to breathe, water to cool me down on a hot summer day, and probably most importantly, tasty creatures like swine, bovine and several species of endangered birds to eat. Mother Earth is good to me.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION VS. THE OTHER JUNK

Despite this, I am concerned about how zealous everyone is getting over this whole "save-the-environment" thing of late. I've got no problem with companies like Mitsubishi attempting to create an environmentally sound and power delivering package like they've done with the new Evo X, however I am concerned as to all this other psycho-technical malarkey that's going along with it - things like hydrogen fueled vehicles, electric powered cars and the like.

I've been pondering as to what the late-model car modifying scene will be like in perhaps 20 or 30 years. Instead of bolting turbochargers on cars, will we be installing higher capacity batteries, or heavier gauge electrical cabling to better carry the current to the drive motors built into the very wheels of our cars?

Will people like me and you still exist? Will there even be a market for fossil-fuel burning transport anymore? Or will it become like some kind of ancient relic from the past, a hobby that's partaken in by a select few, kinda like those guys around today who spend insane amuounts of money maintaining historic steam engines and then plodding around in them just for the utter joy of it.

Will that be me in 30 years? Will people like us be looked upon as freaks; relics from an era long passed? Though instead of a steam engine we'll be cowering in our hermetically-sealed garages maintaining a then-historical R34 GT-R or something. And by then I'd assume we'll be buying petrol for our cars in some kind of black market trade as any kind of combustable fuel will most likely have been outlawed or cost in excess of $500 USD per litre.

If that's the way the world is going, It's not something I want to be a part of. I don't want some zero-emission, hyper-industrial hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that propels itself using an electric motor in each wheel housing and only produces the sound of your elated thoughtwaves which you project as a result of creating a better world with your special mode of transport.

I want to burn fossil fuel. I want to feel the resonant vibrations created by the engine flowing through my seat and into my scrotum as I plant my right foot into the floor. I want to smell the quasi-sweet odour of spent gases as they exit the rear of the car but most of all, I want to hear that utterly-joyous trumpeting of a BOV sounding its presence to the world as it ejects compressed air back into the atmosphere from whence it came.

Quite simply, I want internal combustion. I'm a testosterone-fueled organism and it's in my genetic makeup to want to burn, destroy, maim, conquer and pillage, and that fits right in with internal combustion. I mean really, how much satisfaction are you going to get from an electric car?

And before you get on your high-horse, I know that electric cars have the potential to accelerate much faster than anything we've created so far with any kind of internal combustion engine, but where's the character? Where's the noise, the feeling, the whole ceremony of it all? It's like the soulless bastard-child of a Scalextric racing set and an LCD TV. I sure as hell know I don't want that.

Really, should we care so much about the environment anyway? Either the Americans, Russians or Koreans are going to nuke the planet, a terrorist group will unleash a virus so potent it will wipe out humanity, or some kind of scientific organisation will inadvertantly create a black hole in a lab which will suck all reality into another plane of existence where we'll all end up being the food of a hyper-intelligent species of insect robots. We're screwed anyway.

And how ironic - Audioslave's Gasoline just began playing on my iTunes. So on that note, can't we just leave the futuristic mumbo-jumbo and burn fuel while we can?

Got Evo? Want some pretty carbon things for it to make your brand new toy seem just a little bit more hardcore and JDM-ish? Well snap yourself up some of these CF extras from Ralliart.

At present you can get carbon replacements for the aircon surround panel, shift panel, a rather righteous single-din slot with space enough for three gauges, and what I think is an utterly useless clip-on cover for your rear vision mirror. Who the hell is going to see that, except for maybe people looking into your car from the outside wondering if you have a carbon fiber clip-on mirror thingy to steal?

Apart from this visually-appealing stuff you can also get some pretty decent exhaust and suspension upgrades for the Evo X made by Ralliart as well, but we only want to make our new Evo look pretty, don't we?

Those crafty little technical wonderboys over at Tomei's engineering division have been hard at work since they first got hands on Mitsubishi's new 4B11 powerplant that is the beating heart of the brand-spanking Evo X. In order to gain as much information about the engine as they possible could in order to make manufacturing their own power-milking parts for the engine, they've spent months completely reverse-engineering it and have released a report detaling their findings.

It seems Mitsubishi have really tried to keep both the environment as well as the power-hungry boy-racer in mind when building this engine as many features are designed to capitalise on saving dear-old Mother Earth, as well as wringing out every available iota of performance.

MIVEC is now available on both intake and exhaust valve timing now, whereas the predecessor 4G63 could only utilise this feature on the intake cycle of the engine, which is designed to improve low and midrange torque, while remaining as environmentally sound as it can possibly be.

Among other changes, the camshaft rocker arms have been taken out of the equation completely to offer increased reliability and reduced wear as a result of fewer moving parts, the valves, lifters and valve springs have all been lightened considerably and the timing belt has been replaced with a silent chain.

All-in-all, Misubishi have made a whole host of changes to its new high-performance powerplant, and you can read about them all by clicking here. Still, I want to get me an Evo VII. I heart them more.
