I went to Greenhills today to pick this baby up. It's the EVA-01 Type F. It's basically the EVA-01 with additional armor which I think is more coolsome than the basic look that we are more familiar with. Now this post is quite rushed but I'll definitely post better pictures in the coming days to showcase this particular action figure.

If you're fond of hands, you'll definitely enjoy playing with this action figure. It comes with lots of hands. It has two hands to hold the two daggers that come with it. It has the default closed knuckle hands. It has two spread out hands and there's that single hand that has the force choke pose as well as the open palm salute-looking hand. Then there's the shoulder piece that has those energy balls on them. It also comes with an extra head with the jaw open.

Initial reaction to this model kit is that it's big. Definitely bigger than Prime. Take a look at the picture below with my hand as reference.

It has a large ass. This makes it hard to make the action figure stand on its own. Plus the fact that it has small feet in proportion to its large ass. The limb joint articulation is limited so it's hard to make the squatting-while-pooping pose. But what I appreciate are the revolver joints at the wrists that make the hand changing a lot easier as compared to Prime where I have to use my teeth (seriously) to remove the hands. It could also use a bit more panel lining which I'll work on within the week.

I definitely appreciate the better quality of revolver joints.

I'd love to write some more but my brother is bugging me to get off the computer so he can play Diablo 2 and I'd like to play with the EVA-01 a bit more.

Si ayer os ofrecíamos el listado de los ganadores del apartado manga de los Japan Expo Awards, hoy le llega el turno al anime. En una entrega polémica donde la empresa Dybex fue criticada por los fansubs, el palmarés fue el siguiente:

This is one of the Revoltech action figures that I want to buy. The Gurren Lagann. This is the fusion of Shimon/Simon and Kamina's Gunmen/Gammen. Articulation is much better than the previous action figures like my Optimus Prime. That's why I'm really excited to get this.

Next is the Lazengann. I believe it was one of the opponents that Gurren Lagann had to face but eventually became and ally to for the largest Gurren Lagann in the series which was big enough to stand on top of a galaxy.

Kaiyodo Revoltech is known for milking its customers buy producing multiple copies of their Revoltech products but adding something a little bit different to make it worth buying (ex. EVA-01 copies). This is basically the same Gurren Lagann but with drill spikes coming out of its holes. It's a marketing strategy also because Gurren Lagann had a flight pack and the pieces are distributed across the Lazengann and Gurren Lagann Drill Ver. action figures.

Last but not the least is the ARX-8 Laevatein (edited, thanks to Jacques). It's from Full Metal Panic and it's a mech that was never shown in the animated series but came out in the manga. Kaiyodo claims that this is the Revoltech they've released that has the most additional parts and weapons ever. So expect a higher price tag on this one.

There's also the EVA-01 F Type that is up for pre-order again so I'd like to get that as well. Wonder if I'd be able to afford it.

La historia se sitúa en un posible futuro del planeta Tierra donde los humanos están dominados por una raza de humanoides con características animales que cuentan con robots gigantes de combate. En la primera parte del anime Simón, con la ayuda de Kamina principalmente, libera a la humanidad de la opresión de la raza humanoide y luego, en la segunda parte del anime años más tarde, impide la destrucción la Tierra luchando contra una raza alienígena que intenta controlar el poder que Simón y los humanos han despertado.

Es un anime japonés para la televisión animada por Gainax y co-producido por Aniplex y Konami. Esto duró por 27 episodios y lanzado el 1 de abril de 2007 por la red japonesa de TV Tokio. Es dirigida por Hiroyuki Imaishi (creador de Evangelion), escrita por el veterano dramaturgo Kazuki Nakashima y ha estado en desarrollo desde la participación del afamado animador en el tema de los episodios de Abenobashi mecha por el mismo estudio. Konami ha anunciado que ellos harán un videojuego para acompañar la serie, para el Nintendo DS.

La historia tiene lugar en una villa subterránea llamada Shiiha. Ellos han vivido ahí desde que un terremoto enterró su pueblo hace cientos de años. Simon es un chico de esta villa, se dedica a hacer agujeros para incrementar el área habitable. Un día, cavando profundo dentro de un túnel, encuentra un objeto cristalino brillante, un "core drill". El mejor amigo de Simon es otro chico llamado Kamina, quien lidera un grupo llamado "gren-dan" que intenta atravesar el techo de la caverna y volver a la superficie. Un día, un evento ocurrió que cambió todo. El techo de la cueva se rompió y un robot gigante cayó al pueblo. La luz del sol penetró por el agujero dejado en el techo.

Pero no había tiempo para pensar. El robot gigante empezó a destruir su villa. Inmediatamente Kamina se le enfrentó. Pero, una persona no podía hacer nada. La vida de Kamina fue apenas salvada por una chica de la superficie llamada Youko. Ella disparó de su rifle y detuvo al robot. Ella llamó al robot gigante un "ganmen" (gunman?). Pero el rifle solo pudo atrasarlo. Luego de varios peligros, Shimon les mostró una cara robótica gigante que desenterró de la cueva anteriormente. Kamina dijo "Lo desenterraste, pilotéalo", la responsabilidad fue puesta en Shimon. Cuando puso el "core drill", se activó. Por alguna razón Shimon ya sabía como controlarlo. Sin pensarlo, se subió a la cabeza gigante. Kamina la llamó el robot Ragan.

Con el robot gigante acercándose, ¿puede Shimon, Kamina y Youko sobrevivir?

¿Por qué cayó el robot gigante de la superficie?

NOTA: El titulo del anime esta compuesto por:

• "Tengen". Significa "cielo"
• "Toppa" o "To-pa". Significa "penetrar", "abrirse paso"
• "Guren" o "Gurren". Es el nombre del Gunmen de Kamina.
• "Ragan" o "Lagann". Es el nombre del Gunmen de Simon.

En conjunto el nombre significa "Gurren-Lagan el que atraviesa el cielo" o "el que rompe el cielo". Hace alusión a la celebre frase de Kamina: "Simón, atraviesa el cielo con tu taladro"

Pues buscando en los artbook de estos dos grandes directores me encontré estas dos imágenes donde aclaran si un caso la gran devoción de estos utilitarios tan "comunes" para nosotros.  En el artbook del señor Hideaki Anno hay una ilustración del Alpine A310 al más alto nivel, detallando incluso el interior del auto.

En el caso del maestro Akira Toriyama ya nos sorprendió con el mencionado Renault 5 en Dragon Ball pero años antes ya nos mostró su interés por los coches europeos concretamente con el Fiat 500 y A112 Abarth muy bien acompañados por los míticos personajes de la serie Dr. Slump.

Ya esta es un poco más rebuscada, y en este caso no existen tantas personas velando por mantener esta ley impoluta como la regla 34. Así que puede haber alguna que otra salvedad.
Además acotar que pueden existir un viceversa, es decir, una versión masculina de un personaje femenino.

Volviendo a la prima de este post, volveré a citarme a mi mismo en pos de ejemplificar la regla 63:

En el post “Inuyasha con falda” se puso una imagen homónima al titulo del post, donde se podía apreciar esta ley en toda integridad.

We reach Times Square around 10.30 or something I think, so basically its like empty since its just open and we walk around and around and around. Nothing much about Times Square actually, its kinda boring. My friend and I was supposed to go and shop for our cosplay accessories and stuff, we end up going through the horrible shop in I-Sock, where all lala mui and lala zai, not to mention wapanese or Japanese wannabe clothing store. I just wanna grope my eyes out. Those clothes are merely anything resemble to Lolita, yeah I mean cheapskate Lolita got lah. I always picture Lolita as a classy stuff with elegant and beauty. Not some disgusting horrible multi-colored doesn’t know what fucking horrible mix and match of clothes.

So we headed to Sungei Wang , where all the cheap and capalang stuff are located at.
Because my friends are all CHEAPSKATE, I mean stingy. Blah blah walk around to search something useful for cosplay, but found nothing again. Walk around again and found Sun Comic, went in there and saw gachapon machine with Evangelion character’s toy, and I was so tempted in turning the machine since I never did turn a gachapon machine before, YES I'M A NOOB!!!!! and since it was Evangelion’s movie premier that day, since I can’t go watch the movie, might as well treat myself for something. I never own anything related to Evangelion before so makes me an unfaithful fan of theirs. So I change 2 tokens at first, when to the machine I was aiming for and found out it needs 3 tokens WTF, that stupid gachapon cost so expensive (4 dollar for a token, so I pay 12 dollars for it ), I was hoping to get Asuka’s child version since its so cute than the other version. My friend told me to pray before turning the thing, so I said had to be Asuka…..ASUKA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASUKA!!!!!!

And I turn *gacha*, and then *pon* the toy capsule fell out of the machine, and I can’t barely see the stuff inside it

and then I realize it was the one I wanted. OMGWTFOMGWTFOMG!!!!!! I was so damn lucky because it was my LUCKY DAY THAT DAY , but too bads it was a black version of Asuka’s child version, since I think the red version of it was nicer. Anyways it was fun !!!!! my first time turning a gachapon machine…..

I know I know I’m a noob like WTF. Anyways it was worth my money to get that toy of Asuka.

Was seriously exhausted when I arrived at Sunway Pyramid since walk around here and there had ate up all my energy. Some of my friends went to ice-skating, and left a few of us walking around the shopping complex, we went searching for food. Seriously walk around until we made our decisions to dine in Ichiban Ramen,

We ate until around 4.15 pm, and we wanted to buy J.Co donuts, so we head for it, but we got lost and we can’t find the place…..it was like madness walk here and there because we are going to be late, but finally found it around the corner, and there was a super long queue.

Just got back from the Evangelion screening gathering at Cineleisure Damansara today. Power levels were over 9000 as expected from all the otakus gathering there. Also just as expected was the censorship of certain scenes and the lack of a preview for the next episode which made half of the audience to RAGE at the end of the movie. All in all, it was really fun meeting all the comrades from the local scene and bonding with them. had a really good time. Sadly, i didnt get the chance to scream TEH REI!!!

The way these girls are selected is based on the difficulty in finding them in a hentai setting and ultimately, how many of those images and doujinshi's I could find and how many views those had (which were in the thousands, by the way... meaning thousands of closet perverts or one closet pervert who couldn't get enough). I also considered the timing of the Anime itself and how old we may have been.

We can't deny that porn is a billion dollar industry and hentai being porn... there is a lot of it to be found. Of course, we all have our celebrity hotties... and you probably did the Britney Spears search once upon a time. Unfortunately, it wasn't everything we wanted now that we got it... but then again, we can't find our other favorite celebrities such as Jessica Alba or even Megan Fox in the mix. What better way to get our porn fix than our cartoon heroes?

Whether they are ... not even of age, sexy robots or aliens... if they have a cute face, boobs and possibly what could be female parts, it's all fair game to the common male, possibly female, otaku's.

Which leads be to one of the first girls that I decided to list. She's a heroine of an Anime that opened our hearts when we were young and eventually, it became cool to hate on. She's fairly young with short red / orange hair and a side pony-tail. She has three hot older sisters and she is a great swimmer. I give you none other than...

Pokemon: Misty

At one point in time, you watched Pokemon. For many of you, Pokemon was a gateway Anime and it introduced you to other Anime. She has her undeniable charm is the little red head that got your heart pumping. Whether it was her looks, her age or even the fact she has a flat chest... you guys can't deny that you've hentai-searched Misty at one point in time. For many of you guys who were reaching puberty, you fulfilled that wet-dream with a box of tissue and your favorite browser pointed at google. Some of you, I have to say... in the sense of lolicon and beastiality (seriously), you people are sick.

Evangelion: Asuka

I applaud some of you for getting out of lolicon mode and actually taking an interest in a girl who is a little older. Yes, she does have a chest. Not much to speak of... but it's still more than what Misty has. Her personality is pretty fierce and her talk on thermal temperature using her boobs as an example can get anyone a little excited. Asuka is another one of those "wet dream" girls. You know what I'm talking about. That crust at the end of your sock can speak for itself.

Which leads us to the next girl who has been hentai-searched. It's a little eerie to say that currently, in the real world... we are close to having sex robots. You can't mention a list like this without having Chii on there. Chii is by far, probably the most searched girl on the internet. If not seeing her half naked in the Anime wasn't enough... or even some of the more visual display in the Manga didn't do it for you... those Doujinshi's probably did. For a robot... or ... a walking PC... Chii is pretty damn cute.

Now, let's remind ourselves that Chii is a mechanical being. So let's move away from this disturbing revelation and get to our next girl. She has long pink hair. Her voice is charming... given that (this will give it away) she is voiced by none other than Japan's cutie, Tanaka Rei. She sings and she has a strong presence in the political arena. Who else would I be talking about? I'm talking about...

Gundam Seed: Lucas Clyne

Now, this is a little more acceptable. Given the disturbing last three girls I mentioned... who weren't of age and one not even being human, Lucas Clyne is another one of those girls you've hentai-searched for. Given that everything about her is pretty close to perfect, who wouldn't have done the great unloader because of her? Not only is she voiced by Tanaka Rei who only makes Lucas just so much more attractive, she is one powerful talker. She is the ideal candidate for anyone who needs to have a quick five minutes at the computer.

Finally, we're at the last one. You guys excited to find out who it is? If so... then uh... don't go off blowing that load just yet. This one is a brunette. She has a hairstyle for every day of the week, up until someone noticed and she said "fuck it" to her hair. She's rather crazy and pushy. Not only that, she is what people would call "god". I can't really say what would give her the edge over everyone else but I guess it must be the fact that she has undeniable power and you just want to be her bitch.

I actually drew the shape of this design by hand in pencil in under 15 min. I draw these sort of designs all the time, but this is the only one I actually made cool-ish. The outline turned out to be much more ragged than I had thought, but I ain't fixin' it.

Today we discuss the many news bits on DragonBall including the new poster, Shonen Jump, the Fullum Assassians, and the trailer/teaser confusion. We also talk a bit about developments in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and touch a bit on Astro Boy and Gatchaman.

TRAMA

Nell'anno 2000 un gigantesco cataclisma sconvolge la Terra (cominciamo bene): un'enorme esplosione avviene nell'Antartide, provocandone la disgregazione e lo scioglimento. Le fonti ufficiali delle Nazioni Unite parlano dell'improvviso impatto di un meteorite di notevoli dimensioni (vallo a raccontare  a tua nonna!).

Tutto questo passa in secondo piano rispetto alle conseguenze della catastrofe, e cioè l'innalzamento dei mari, lo sconvolgimento climatico (dovuto anche ad una leggera modifica dell'inclinazione dell'asse terrestre) e delle guerre scoppiate fra le nazioni per accaparrarsi i territori rimanenti. (ALLEGRIA!)

Ne consegue che la popolazione viene decimata scendendo a tre miliardi di individui; l'umanità si trova ora dinanzi il difficile obiettivo di ricominciare da capo e ricostruire la propria civiltà gravemente danneggiata. Nella memoria di tutti, ad ogni modo, il cataclisma rimarrà per sempre conosciuto come "Second Impact". (Nome poetico!)

Anno 2015: l'equilibrio climatico si sta lentamente riassestando e le nazioni del mondo stanno lentamente ricostruendo ciò che avevano perduto.

Shinji Ikari, un introverso e chiuso quattordicenne giapponese che vive fin da tenera età con i nonni, riceve all'improvviso un messaggio dal padre, da cui venne abbandonato molti anni prima (e che vuole ora?), che lo invita a recarsi nella città di Neo-Tokyo 3, presso l'agenzia speciale Nerv, dove lui lavora. (mmm..la cosa mi puzza)

Inizialmente titubante, il giovane Shinji raccoglie il proprio coraggio e decide di reincontrare il padre dopo tanti anni. (al posto suo ci avrei pensato un altro po’…)

 Tuttavia una volta giunto a Neo-Tokyo 3, mentre attende l'arrivo di Misato Katsuragi, colei che dovrebbe raccoglierlo e condurlo dal genitore, scopre che una gigantesca e mostruosa creatura ha fatto la sua comparsa nella città evacuata. (Mi sta venendo un atroce sospetto…)

L'esercito di auto-difesa giapponese non ottiene alcun risultato negli attacchi sferrati contro la creatura, identificata come "angelo".

Misato, con la sua auto, riesce a recuperare in tempo Shinji per condurlo alla base segreta della Nerv, dove il ragazzo scopre la verità (Ta - Dah!), cioè che suo padre è il comandante in capo della Nerv e che lui è stato chiamato per pilotare quella che sembra (mi raccomando “sembra”) essere l'unica speranza del genere umano contro gli "angeli", e cioè la macchina multi-funzione umanoide Evangelion, modello 01 (abbreviato EVA-01), poiché il pilota dell'unita di prova EVA-00, la giovane Rei Ayanami, è infortunata gravemente.  (Lo sapevo io che c’era il trucco)

Per Shinji si presenta così una dura prova, chiamato improvvisamente dal padre che lo aveva abbandonato (essere spregevole) e che non vede da molti anni unicamente per guidare un gigantesco essere robotico (che si dimostrerà molto di più di un robottone) contro un misterioso nemico sconosciuto contro cui le armi convenzionali si sono rivelate inefficaci (Caro Shinji, mò sono uccelli per diabetici!!): e attorno a lui si dipaneranno gli intrecci fra le relazioni degli altri personaggi e i dubbi su cosa sono in realtà gli angeli, sul perché hanno attaccato la Terra, sulla verità riguardo gli Eva e sui misteri intorno alla NERV e alla SEELE.

Cari amici, siamo arrivati al vero psicodramma in forma cartoon. Evangelion è questo.

Innanzitutto possiamo vedere come il nostro Hideaki Anno mette insieme tutti i possibili luoghi comuni sogli anime giapponesi: abbiamo il protagonista orfano e sfigato, detentore del record mondiale di complessi (mentali), i cooprotagonisti che non stanno meglio (Asuka ha avuto la mamma morta suicida e Rei…..beh, Rei ha dei seri problemi di "identità").

Direte: ma sono i problemi dell’adolescenza! POVERI ILLUSI!

Non è che gli adulti siano meglio: Gendo Ikari è un uomo che ha sacrificato l’amore del figlio per riavere la sua donna che è scomparsa durante una esercitazione nell'EVA (scomparsa nel vero senso della parola).  Il risultato è che diventato uno stronzo come pochi...

La signorina Misato Katsuragi ha avuto un tremendo rapporto con il padre e per questo non riesce a legarsi veramente con nessuno (neanche con l’uomo che ama) tranne che in un modo….

La dottoressa Ritsuko ha preso il brutto vizio di sua madre (che per altro si è suicidata): è l’amante del suo capo (ovvero Gendo).

In tutto questo metteteci il fatto che il robottone in questione NON E’ poi tanto robottone, ma dimostra di avere una vita propria andando in “bersek” ovvero incazzandosi come una bestia.

Potrei raccontarvi tutta la trama senza svelarvi niente e sapete perché? Perché ancora nessuno ha capito bene tutto. Evangelion è tutt’oggi studiato per capire il suo significato recondito.

Io penso che sia inutile. In realtà Evangelion non è altro che il frutto dell’autoanalisi di Hideaki Anno. (e questo lo ha detto lui) Già è difficile capire noi stessi, figuriamoci la psiche di qualcun altro…

Non è un caso infatti che questo anime abbia in realtà un doppio finale: quello psicologico rappresentato dalle ultime due puntate dell’anime (in cui vediamo quasi un viaggio nella mente di Shinji, ma non solo nella sua) e quello più narrativo del film “The End of Evangelion”

A mio parere non è che quello del film sia un finale più comprensibile. Per certi aspetti siamo ancora di fronte alle seghe mentali (e purtroppo non solo mentali) del povero Shinji.

Certo, si arriva ad una spiegazione più approfondita della Seele e della NERV e sopratutto del "progetto per il perfezionamento dell'uomo", ma ti resta sempre e cmq qualcosa che non torna.

A parte tutto questo è un anime che per molti aspetti ha fatto storia. Personalmente l’ho trovato molto intrigante e coinvolgente a partire dalla  sigla"Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis"

נאון ג'נסיס אוונגליון הוא שמה של סדרת כותרים שהפצתם החלה באמצע שנות התשעים וכרכים נוספים במנגה (שנכתבה במקביל לאנימה) ממשיכים לצאת לאור מדי פעם. הכותר הראשון והמוכר ביותר היה סדרת הטלוויזיה ששודרה ביפן בשנת 1995 והיא נחשב ת עד היום לאחת מסדרות האנימה הטובות והמוצלחות ביותר שיצאו אי-פעם. היא מהווה ציון דרך בז'אנר המאכה והשפעתה ניכרת באנימות רבות בסגנון (ובסגנונות אחרים).

האנימה הופקה בסטודיו Gainax (גורן לאגאן) ויוצרה המקורי היה הידאקי אנו (Hideaki Anno), שסיפר כי הרעיון וההשראה לסיפור הגיעו בעקבות משבר גדול בחייו הפרטיים (וכך זה באמת נראה). האנימה פונה לנבכיה האפלים ביותר של הנשמה האנושית ושואלת שאלות שאף אחד לא אוהב לשאול, על הנשמה עצמה ועל הנשמות הסובבות אותה. מעולם לא ראיתי דרמה פסיכולוגית עוצמתית כל-כך שמשתמשת בצורה כזו באלמנטים הזויים מעולם המדע הבדיוני, כמו גם בביטויים ומושגים מעולם הפסיכואנליטיקה. הידאקי מצליח להעביר את המסר, ויותר מפעם אחת זה מרגיש כמו סטירה מצלצלת. האנימציה טובה מהממוצע ובמקרים מסוימים אפילו מצוינת. בעיקר אהבתי את המכניקה ופיזיקת התנועה של הדמויות. יותר מפעם אחת הרגשתי שרובוטי הענק נעים בצורה אנושית יותר מהדמויות עצמן. הפסקול טוב מאוד ומעביר את האווירה בהצלחה. העלילה מפותחת בצורה מדהימה והפיתוח שלה ממשיך עד הפרקים האחרונים.

בעקבות ביקורות קשות על הפרקים האחרונים בסדרה (ומכתבי איום ברצח) החליט הידאקי לביים פרק חדש שמספר את הסיפור מזוית אחרת וגם ממשיך אותו אחרי סיום קו העלילה המקורי. מספר שנים לאחר מכן הופק עיבוד נוסף לסדרה (סרט באורך מלא) שהציג את תחילתה וסופה בצורה קצת אחרת, ובשנת 2006 החלו בעבודה על סדרת סרטים (Rebuild of Evangelion) שמספרים את הסיפור כולו מהתחלה, בעיבוד מחודש מכל הבחינות.

בשנת 2000 הזדעזע עולמנו בפיצוץ אדיר (מה, לא שמעתם?) שהשמיד את רוב חלקי העולם וכמעט הכחיד את המין האנושי. הרשויות טענו שמדובר במטאוריט ענק, ובני האדם החלו בתהליך שיקום העולם. סיפורנו מתחיל 15 שנים אחרי האסון שקיבל את השם, "פגיעה השנייה" ואנו פוגשים לראשונה את גיבור הסיפור, איקארי שינג'י. שינג'י הוא ילדון מופנם וביישן בן 14 שמקבל הודעה מפתיעה מאביו הקוראת לו לבוא לבקר אותו בטוקיו-3 (עיר שנבנתה לאחר האסון הגדול וחלקה נמצא מתחת לאדמה). ההודעה מפתיעה את שינג'י, מפני שאביו ניתק עימו את הקשר מספר שנים לפני לכן, אחרי פטירתה של אשתו - אמו של שינג'י. הילד מגיע לטוקיו-3, מרוגש וסקרן, אך מהר מאוד מגלה שאביו לא קרא לו במטרה לחדש את הקשר, אלא בשביל להשתמש בו.

אביו של שינג'י מנהל ארגון ענק בשם NERV ותפקידו להגן על האנושות מפני אויביה החדשים - המלאכים. מאז ה"פגיעה השנייה" החלו להגיע מדי כמה שנים, יצורי ענק מזן לא ידוע ובני האדם החליטו לקרוא להם "מלאכים". לנשקים רגילים אין השפעה נגדם ואפילו פצצות מימן לא חודרות את הגנותיהם. הכלי היחיד שמסוגל לעמוד בפניהם ואף לנצח אותם הוא רובוטי ה-Evangelion או בקיצור - EVA. ב-EVA לא יכול לנהוג כל אחד, אלא רק ה"ילדים הנבחרים" שמסוגלים להסתנכרן בהצלחה עם הרובוטים ולשלוט בהם כרצונם.

שינג'י מגלה שהוא אחד מ"הילדים הנבחרים" והוא מתבקש לשבת בכסא השליטה של הרובוט הענק והמוזר. ולא רק אביו דורש שיעשה זאת - האנושות כולה מצפה שיעזור בהגנה עליה.

הגבלת צפייה: העלילה לא תובן כהלכה ע"י ילדים והיא עשויה גם להותיר טראומה או שתיים. יש אלימות והמון גרוטסקיות. גם כשלא מדובר באדם שמדמם - המחזה לא נעים כלל. יש מדי פעם עירום, אבל לא מוגזם.

Another problem is the aforementioned action. Indeed, the visuals and fight choreography are pleasing, yet the story seriously lacks in comparison with the original. Don't get me wrong, I didn't even like the original, but one thing it did exceed at was building tension, displaying a facade of cruel life, only to have this facade violently ripped off by oncoming onslaught. In this rebuild there is no time for exposition, there is no time to calm down and organize ones thoughts, everything is action packed from start to finish with only few times to stride away form the dazzling visuals. And the short intermissions simply don't make any sense if you haven't seen the original, the character development falls brutally short, and new viewers will wonder, what exactly the motivation of the participants are, or more likely complain about the characters being mere caricatures.

Some might argue, that the original is already so good, it needs no new interpretation. But if that is the case, why just not watch the original? And the updates to the graphics simply don't cut it alone, if you desire a bit more than fighting. You want some action or just liked the original because of its explosions? Then I full heartily recommend this episode to you. If you enjoyed the original story however, I urge you to stay away. And if you didn't like the story because of Shinji whining all the time...., well he is still whining, just not as much, but now there is no more story remaining either. A fair tradeoff critics might exclaim, and I am not sure how I feel about this either.

So what NGE 1.0 really amounts to is a visually updated Neon Genesis Evangelion 1-6, cramped into movie length. Not more, not less.

But I am aware that this might all be intentional, since the ending does diverge from the original, and maybe the numbering to 2.0 of the next episode signifies the changes which are need to really justify a rebuild. But only time will tell, and right now it doesn't look good. Still, I enjoyed the action. Probably what the anime, including the original, was about in the first place.
