Sollte Michael "Wade" Ballack ausfallen, könnte Torsten Frings ins Team zurückkehren. Sorgen machen sollte sich Frings allerdings dann, wenn Löw stattdessen Rolfes auflaufen lässt.

Wenn das so ist, fragt man sich natürlich warum es Deutschland nicht schafft? Im gleichen Medienbericht war die Rede davon, dass es ca. 5 Minuten dauert um ein Trikot mit den Spielernamen zu beflocken.
18 x 5 Minuten = 90 Minuten, verdoppeln wir die Zeit um den Zeugwart nicht unter Druck zu setzen, dann sind wir bei 3 Stunden.
Wenn Jogi Löw 3 Stunden vor Anpfiff nicht weiß welche Spieler überhaupt im endgültigen Kader stehen werden, dann sollten wir uns Gedanken machen...

Well, it's that time again... just as the young season seems about to get into swing, we get hit with the international break.  Arsenal, and the other top level clubs, will have most of their rosters away from the club to play twice in five days while clubs like Fulham get a breather and time to re-energize.  With not much going on around the club, we can take a few moments to reflect on the season so far as well as some of the major issues surrounding the club and its supporters.

Are We Better Than Last Season?

Many Arsenal fans are debating amongst themselves the question of whether we are stronger or weaker than last season.  This is a tricky question because you can come up with an answer in two ways: on paper or on the pitch.  On paper, all we are missing from last season is a straight replacement for Matheiu Flamini.  Hleb has been more than ably replaced by Samir Nasri while Fabianski and Denilson can, theoretically, fill the minor roles played by Jens Lehmann and Gilberto last season.

However, there is another way to see improvement.  Last season, we were at our weakest on the wings.  While playing a 4-5-1 with Hleb in the hole and Rosicky injured, we inevitably played Emmanuel Eboue and Abou Diaby as our two wingers.  This year, so far at least, the health of Robin van Persie has allowed Arsene to play the more favoured 4-4-2 and replace Eboue and Diaby with Walcott and Nasri.  To me this is a significant improvement over last season that probably outweighs the difference between Flamini and Denilson or Diaby at the moment.  We now also have the experienced defender we needed last season in Mikael Silvestre if he can remain healthy.

As for on the pitch, we saw last week against Newcastle that, yes, we are still "the Arsenal."  The football is still smooth, intelligent, creative, and free-flowing and, despite not playing near our best against West Brom or Fulham, we are still only one point off the top after 3 matches.

The Hack Was Back

What you are seeing above is, of course, the infamous tackle by legendary cunt, Joey Barton on Samir Nasri last weekend near the end of Arsenal's 3-nil dismantling of Newcastle in Keven Keegan's last match as manager.  Most have questioned Keegan's judgment in bringing Barton on in the first place considering he had an FA hearing pending the following Friday.  Well that hearing came and went, and so did Kevin Keegan (maybe his judgment isn't that bad after all).

Barton received a 12 game suspension.  Enough??  Hell no.  He could have used an extra three for the challenge on Nasri.  Look at how he is leaning into Nasri's body even though Nasri is not standing over the ball.  Look at how he sticks his elbow out and tries to crash right into his knee.  Look at how Nasri just barely escapes being Eduardo II by getting his foot unplanted.  After the tackle, Barton went on to give one of the biggest wise-ass grins he could muster.

The man is an absolute disgrace to the game; to anyone who's ever played the game; and certainly to anyone who has ever loved the game.  I know it's been said a thousand times before but the game would be far better off without that two-bit hack.

200 and Counting...

Cesc Fabregas played his 200th game for Arsenal last Saturday when he took the pitch at the Emirates against Newcastle and showed, again, why he is what American sports fans call a "franchise player."  Not only is he the real "heart and soul" of Arsenal on the pitch, but he is fully on board with Arsene and his policy: "We sign what we need... at Arsenal there's a different policy and we have to respect that... the day we win something with these players, with this policy, this atmosphere and style, there will be a big change - almost a revelation."

The thing that is most impressive about Cesc, besides his on-field displays, is his level of maturity at such a young age. This has been evidenced throughout the last year in numerous episodes from firing his agent when he linked Cesc with Barcelona in the media against the player's wishes to speaking of now knowing what it means to be "a winner" following Spain's victory at Euro2008 to showing his full support for Arsene and the club.  The kid knows what he wants and he has a long-term vision of his career unlike many players who are older and, supposedly, more mature.  We all know what happens to players when they leave Arsenal but apparently players like Flamini and Hleb don't.  Well, Cesc does:

“I cannot remember any player who left Arsenal and has been a superstar. Don’t get me wrong, Alex Hleb and Mathieu Flamini are two of my best friends in football and I wish them all the best but Arsenal is Arsenal. This club has something special that no others have. We have to take care of it. I want to play for Arsenal. When you see football all around the world you see very few teams who play the way that we play. I just enjoy it. I feel it is my home now.  I am happy with everything, my No 4, playing for Arsenal in centre midfield and giving 100 per cent every, every game. But if the boss thinks in one or two years I am ready to be captain, I will take the armband.”

Now, if we want to be honest, we all know that Cesc is the Arsenal captain in everything but name.  Gallas may wear the armband but it is Cesc whom the players are willing to follow anywhere.  Those who worry about Cesc's short-term future with Arsenal should feel some peace-of-mind after reading those quotes.  Cesc understands what it is about the club that makes it special in general and especially to the supporters.  Just the fact that he is thinking about being one in a long line of Arsenal legends who captained the side shows he sees his future with the club and shows his dedication to the club, the supporters, and his teammates.

Finally?

Arsenal have sixteen players away during this international break including Gael Clichy, who, somehow, is still awaiting his first full senior cap with France. Clichy has finally been getting called up by Domenech beginning last year for matches with Spain and Congo but has failed to see any action as of yet.  The former Cannes trainee and Toulouse native has 10 caps for the Under-21s as well as two appearances in friendlies with France's B (or A dash) side.  It is mind boggling how Domenech can keep the undisputed best left back in the Premier League, if not the world, on the bench.  While United's Patrice Evra has up until now held his place ahead of Clichy, it has to be only a matter of time as Clichy, while still providing the attacking  if not scoring threat of Evra, is clearly superior in terms of defending and attitude.

Valencia midfielder David Silva withdrew from Spain's squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia because of a left ankle injury following tests at a Madrid clinic. Sad news indeed but the good part is he will not be replaced according to new Spain Manager Vicente del Bosque.

Spain second big absence will be Liverpool's Fernando Torres. After limping off in the goalless draw at Villa last Sunday, he has been withdrawn from his International duty against Bosnia and Armenia after a scan has confirmed a hamstring tear in his right leg and is expected to be out between two to three weeks. Bummer. But Rafa Benitez is positive that Torres will be out of action only for 10 days and hopefully will be fit to play in the Champions League opening at Marseille. And i pray playing againt Manchester United. But really, we dont want him force to be fit...

On the other hand, Real Madrid hopes of signing Valencia's striker David Villa was crushed when he signed a six-year deal with his club last Wednesday, thus, rejecting Real Madrid 69.5 million dollar offer. Villa, the top scorer in Euro2008 will receive 4.4 million dollar annually making him the best paid player in Valencia's history. I am so happy for him and his pocket although playing for Real Madrid would reunite him with San Iker and The Ramos. Well, maybe its not the right time yet.

Did you know that over 10,000 people have signed a petition calling on the European Footballer of the Year Award to be given  to Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas? Yeah, San Iker is definetly a keeper. Mayor Esteban Parro of Mostoles City where San Iker grew up in has launched an online petition a week ago and will be sent to France Football magazine which organizes in giving one of football top prize, the Ballon d'Or. Spain captain Iker has become a national hero when he saved two penalty kicks in the Euro2008 quarterfinals against Italy. It should be noted that the last keeper who won the award was Dynamo Moscow's Lev Yashin, a Russian and that was in 1963. Last year Ballo d'Or awardee was AC Milan Brazilian midfielder Kaka. Maybe that should be another qualification that France Football should adhere - only a good, exceptional football hunk should be given the award...

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie revealed that he is ready to continue contract negotiations with the north London side after talks stalled because of the Dutchman's participation in Euro2008 tournament.

In an interview with setantasports.com, the 24-year-old stated that his intention has always been to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

“I was [in contract talks] before the Euros but I stopped it because of the Euros and we can sit down together one of these days again,” Van Persie said.

“That is my intention always [to commit to the club]. I love this club, it is a great team and it is really nice to be in this team because everyone loves the game.

“Like me, I love to play lots of combination football, so I am in the right place, but you never know unfortunately.”

Earlier this afternoon, van Persie was in action against Real Madrid in the Emirates Cup working towards full match fitness. The Rotterdam-born forward showed his class with some neat footwork and one-touch passing and van Persie admitted his main aim for the new season is to stay injury-free throughout the new campaign and win some silverware - something many Gooners have been waiting for.

“I want to win everything, I want to be fit,” Van Persie added. “I want to be helpful to my team-mates and make a fantastic year, but you never know.”

Van Persie joined Arsenal four seasons ago for a fee believed to be in the range of £3 million after disciplinary problems forced him out of the Dutch giants.

"O logo da Euro2009 captura perfeitamente o crescimento dinâmico do futebol feminino," disse o diretor do torneio, Outi Saarinen. "Depois da Finlândia alcançar a semi-final da Euro2005 na Inglaterra, o futebol feminino cresceu fortemente aqui. Eu particularmente gostei do logo. Ficou algo mais "plausível" do que o logo da Euro2008, sem contar que os valores atribuídos (crescimento do futebol feminino, alusão à taça) ficaram muito mais condizentes à um torneio de futebol do que os pregados pelos logo da Euro2008 (natureza!). Gostei também da paleta de cores, que é bastante congruente com o que se quer passar com a identidade. Também não poderia deixar de compartilhar algo com vocês: quando eu vi o logo pela primeira vez, antes mesmo de saber qual seu significado e de ver a taça real, a primeira coisa que pensei foi: "Parece um peixe!"[risos] Mas, brincadeiras a partes, eu curti o trabalho sim!

Agora, algo que eu gostaria de destacar nesse logo e que eu, particularmente, achei fantástico e matador é aquela tipografia! Sensacional! Vasculhei a internet atrás dela para saber pelo menos o nome para postar aqui mas não encontrei. Nem o WhatTheFont conseguiu solucionar o caso. Se alguém souber, por favor, compartilhe ali nos comentários com os demais leitores e com esse humilde e curioso blogueiro!

Wirtshausepreise +5,5 Prozent!

Bei den Wirtshäusern in der Wiener Innenstadt haben 2 von 3 ihre Preise innerhalb von nur 3 Monaten um 5,5% in die Höhe geschnalzt. Snacks wie Chips oder Schokolade und Getränke aus den Supermärkten kosteten um 8,4% mehr als vor einem Jahr. Die AK hat jetzt auch Preiskontrollen nach der Euro angekündigt - denn einmal oben, werden die Preise in den seltensten Fällen wieder runtergesetzt.

Ösi-Zuschlag bei Lebensmitteln, Gas und Medikamenten?

Maßnahmen gegen die Teuerung sind - auch "abseits" der Preissteigerungen durch die EM - in jedem Fall nötig. Die Wettbewerbskommission hat heute ein Gutachten veröffentlicht, wonach sich mehr als ein Drittel der Gesamtinflation nicht mit Konjunktur, Ölrpeis und Lohnstückkosten erklären lässt. Vor allem bei Milchprodukten, aber auch bei Eiern, macht der so genannte Österreich-Anteil sogar mehr als die Hälfte aus, so die Wettbewerbskommission. Bei Gas seien zwei Drittel des Preisanstiegs "hausgemacht" und bei Medikamenten führt die Wettbewerbskommission beinah die gesamte Verteuerung auf den "Österreich-Effekt" zurück. Die Forderung der AK zur Bekämpfung der Preistreiberei: härtere Kontrollen bei Preisabsprachen, Marktmissbrauch und ein kontinuierliches Wettbewerbsmonitoring. Auf Initiative der AK trat heute auch die Preiskommission nach langem wieder zusammen. Wirtschaftsminister Bartenstein betonte zuvor laut APA: "Preisregulierungen wären ein Unfug." Mehr Kompetenzen für die Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde kann sich Bartenstein jetzt aber zumindest vorstellen.

Pues desde el mes de abril empecé a tocar algo en Macromedia Flash 8, a probar que se hace con cada herramienta, ya debéis conocer los pasos al empezar con un programa nuevo ¿no?

Y en junio tuve que entregar un proyecto que abarque los conocimientos que he adquirido e intenté hacer un primer proyecto a base de muñecos ya hechos por la aplicacion South Park Studio pero de pronto sin ningún motivo, al abrirlo de nuevo me daba error al leerlo cuando faltaban menos de 5 días para entregarlo. :( 

Por lo tanto decidí hacer algo rápido, mínimamente presentable pero único.

Es una interesante animación donde una vez dentro del menú podremos ver el perfil de cada uno de los jugadores (solo lo hice de unos cuantos: Buffon, Del Piero, De Rossi, Camoranesi, Zambrotta y Materazzi).

Está en italiano (así lo practico) pero si sabéis español veréis que es fácil entenderlo.

Auf dem Fahrersitz zu sitzen, den Sicherheitsgurt zu sich zu ziehen und ihn dann gänzlich in der Hand zu halten, weil er aus der Wand gerissen ist.

Dem Mann dabei zu zu schauen, wie er die Handbremse zieht und diese kurze Zeit später ebenfalls gänzlich in der Hand hält.

Eine Schranktür, die den Geist aufgibt und den kompletten Nahrungsmittel - Behelfsutensilien freien Lauf (Fall) zur Entfaltung lässt.

Hupende Schwertransporter, die uns bei Tempo 45 am Berg in der Schweiz überholen und uns das ein oder andere Teil ihrer Hand zeigen.

In einem Zelt mit zwei kleinen Kindern zwischen 1500 gröhlenden, furzenden, kiffenden, saufenden, sich übergebenden, sich sonst wie erleichternden und zu guter Letzt zwischen den Zelten bengalische Feuer abfackelnden Holländern - nach dem Sieg gegen Italien.
Mit einem Wohnmobil, das raucht, irrtümlicher Weise in einem 12,5 km langen Tunnel zu stecken, weil man die Behelfsausfahrt verpasst hat. In einem Wohnmobil, das nicht mehr schneller als 50km/h fährt, LKWs die anfangen zu hupen.
Die Worte "Schall und Rauch" bekommen eine völlig neue Bedeutung.
Ich verfasse mein Testament, schliesse mit meinem Leben ab, will bei meinen Kindern sein, schnalle mich ab, haste zwischen meinen Kindern und meinem Mann hin und her. Will allen dreien in diesen Sekunden nahe sein - bin sicher, es sind meine letzten Sekunden, trotz allem bin ich froh, diese mit meinen Liebsten zu verbringen.

Die Tante, die wie die Mutter ist, wird wenige Nächte später mit dem Notarzt in die Klinik gebracht, Verdacht auf Herzinfarkt, Intensivstation.

Zurück zum Gatten, einige beschauliche Tage. Ein Anruf.
Der Onkel, der Bruder seines Vaters gestern gestorben. Vor 6 Wochen die Schwester des Vaters, vor 14 Wochen eine andere Schwester des Vaters.
Fahrt ins 700km entfernte Frankreich.

Drei Geschwister liegen sich in den Armen, drei Geschwister, die in den vergangenen 4 Monaten 3 ihrer Geschwister verloren haben.
Ein Bild wie eingebrannt, wie sie sich halten, wie sich ansehen, was sie sich nichts sagen und trotzdem kann es jeder hören.
Die Kinder der Geschwister begrüssen sich, auch sie schauen sich an, Augen, die sich mit Tränen füllen, Augen, die schreien mögen, 8 "Kinder", erwachsene Kinder, Cousins und Cousinen, sie alle haben das Gleiche erlebt, die Zeit steht still. Jeder weiss, es ist wie es ist und dennoch sind alle fassungslos.

2 Monate sind vergangen, wir sind wieder zurück von unserer Tour, die die EM 2008 und ihre Helfer begleitet hat. Wir haben tolle, spannende Menschen getroffen, die Schweiz und ihre Supermärkte (bzw. deren Inhalt) zu schätzen gelernt, viel erlebt und einiges zu verarbeiten mitgebracht.
Wir haben in den entscheidenden Momenten Glück gehabt, denn ohne dieses sässe ich jetzt vermutlich nicht hier und meine Kinder würden nicht im Wohnzimmer mit ihrem Vater ein Eis essen.

Wir sind als Familie nochmal ein Stück enger zusammen gerückt, das ist ein gutes Gefühl.

Es ist auch ein gutes Gefühl, wieder hier zu sein! Hallo beisammen!

Mesmo com o fim da UEFA Euro 2008 Austria-Suiça, algo me intrigava (e não era por ter comido trigo demais!): o que significava aquele logo?
Porém com o monte de coisas pra fazer, acabei de esquecendo de fazer essa pesquisa, porém, hoje tive minha memória iluminada pelo ótimo post do Logoblink.com que mostra os logos de cada país participante do certame em questão.

Ai não tinha jeito mesmo: fui pro Google pesquisar sobre o bendito. E eis os resultados...

Esse estranho logo foi elaborado pela agência londrina English & Pockett e trás consigo diversos elementos principalmente da natureza além de perspectiva tridimensional. A parte de cima do signo vermelho é uma montanha remetendo a paixão pelo futebol e pela natureza (europeus amando a natureza?!), simbolizando, com a bola ao centro, a natureza abraçando o futebol ("natureza abraçando o futebol"?). Como vocês já devem ter percebido, a bola simboliza (claro!) o futebol, a cor esverdeada remete as florestas e vales de ambos os países e os desenhos dentro da bola são baseados no mapa dos Alpes; os nomes dos anfitriões usam uma confiante e contemporanea tipografia, levemente arredondada, entregando um sentimento amigável; quanto as cores, foi usado o vermelho e branco por ser as cores da bandeira de ambas nações. O verde da bola reflete a importância da natureza na região.

O logo é bacana, tem identidade própria e originalidade. Não digo que amei, mas é um bom trabalho. Só achei meio estranho essa conotação de "a natureza abraçando o futebol". Apesar da época do "politicamente correto" que vivemos e da febre de se falar do meio-ambiente (assunto que tem gente gritando a respeito de maneira séria desde o anos 60!), não achei genial essa associação. Porém, tudo é passível de mudança, principalmente meus conceitos!

What's left.

So, what's left of all the fuzz? For nearly a year, everybody here was takling about IT. The Euro2008 - now that it's part of the past I'm wondering why. First of all, I'm not too happy with my photos. Reason for that is inconsistancy - available-light-iso1600-f/1.4 is getting boring. Shooting with flash too. It's been done before - countless times. And it's hard inventing the wheel again when there's hardly anything exceptional to take pictures of. Sure, it's something exceptional seeing the whole city being affected by single event for about three weeks. And sure, there ARE loads of things to take pictures of but after 2-3 days you've seen it all I think. The only thing that changes is the fans' dress.

I'll write about my trip in another post because it deserves its own post. Other random shit that's going on in my life. The iPhone 3G comes out Friday and like many pissed off Canadians I am not going to buy one, at least for now I'm not! The rates are insane and really not worth it. Us Canadians have pissed off Rogers so much that they released a promotion today (July 9th) that will allow you to add-on a 6GB data plan onto any one of their voice plans which seems more reasonable than 400MB.

Also this weekend is Edgefest. Headlining this years Edgefest will be Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots. Not only am i stoked about seeing STP for the first time but also finally getting the chance to see USS live. It should be a fun day @ Downsview Park. Stay tuned for a review of the show come Sunday or Monday (that's if I don't get lazy again!).
