Allá por el 2007, coincidiendo con el nuevo auge del electropop chileno, Mauro Concha, quien se encarga de cantar y escribir las letras, y Tomas Leiva, que maneja los teclados y sintetizadores, dan por creado a Malbadisco, con su primara canción 'Lady Bionika', que es en realidad un cover alterado de 'Lady, no te pintes los ojos de azul' del antiguo grupo Mocedades.

Nacido como un juego que fue tomando un rumbo inesperado, estos chicos se dedicaron a crear mas canciones en las que dominaran los sonidos electronicos bailables y pegajosos. Ese mismo año terminaron su primer EP: 'Disque Amistad'que incluia la ya conocida 'Lady Bionika', mas 'Lejos' y ' Tentación'.

Tiempo mas tarde lanzaron un nuevo single llamado 'Y Bailar' muy en onda discotequera y repegajosa. Sin duda un acierto a la hora de pasar un buen rato bailando, porque las canciones te hacen mover la patita, y mucho.

Como no tengo ningún problema en repetir grupos en esta sección (de hecho, lo prefiero, porque así me ahorro tener que hacer una descripción de ellos xD), aquí tenéis mi elección para hoy:

Human League

'Don't you want me?'. No, I'd rather have an 'Empire state human'. Early Human League are best remembered for the first track I mentioned, but they were around for a while before this hit. Their 2 previous albums 'Reproduction' and 'Travelogue' used very raw synth sounds and thinking about it now, tracks like 'The black hit of space' could be classed as electroclash. The sound changed after founder members Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware moved on to other things... but that's a different blog post. 'Dare' is still decent electropop, but personally I still prefer the 1st two albums. Have a listen to 'Marianne' as well, which sounds like it should be somewhere between Travelogue and Dare, but isn't. 'Almost medieval' is probably my favourite Human League track - love the synth riff... but I won't force you to listen to it, as I know some Human League fans who hate it... no, I won't force you... click here... Go on! You know you want to.

Denisse Guerrero, vocalista de Belanova

Actualmente Denisse Guerrero es una de las chicas fresa por excelencia. Líder y vocalista de la agrupación mexicana "Belanova", es dueña de una voz extremadamente aguda que hace perfecto juego con las melodías electropop.

Punto aparte es su look. No está de más destacar sus estudios en diseño de modas, en la ciudad de Guadalajara, donde tuvo que emigrar para perseguir sus sueños. En vivo luce llamativos vestuarios, que mezcla con un maquillaje de fantasía que la hacen lucir aún más su belleza.

Quizás uno de las cosas que más llaman la atención en su presentacion personal al salir a un escenario, son las enormes pestañas postizas que usa. Además de los producidos peinados, que siempre van acorde a su ropa.

Esta chica fresa, es muy simpática y al encontrarse con sus fans no duda en saludarlos, darles autógrafos y fotografiarse con ellos.

"Yo nací en Los Mochis, Sinaloa en 1980. Una ciudad muy pequeña de la región noroeste del país, donde todo lo que se escucha es música regional y donde no había nada más que hacer, que salir a dar vueltas por la calle a ver gente en los horarios en que el calor lo permitía. Desde niña cantaba y participaba en todo lo que se podía (que no era mucho… -risas- hasta un día, como a los ocho años de edad, fui escogida como la reina del carnaval de Los Mochis porque mi mamá me inscribió, ¡imagínate!. Ya cuando crecí, decidí que tenía que buscar un lugar en el que pudiera desarrollar todo lo que llamaba mi atención, y en Los Mochis no había lugar para ello. Con esto me refiero a tomar clases de canto, de composición, y de diseño de modas, que era algo que me encantaba hacer. Así, emigré a la ciudad de Guadalajara y estudié Diseño de Modas, al tiempo que cantaba y empezaba a participar en grupos, hasta que conocí a Richie y Edgar y juntos formamos BELANOVA en el 2000".

Nessa coluna irei postar informações sobre bandas novas legais pro povo parar de dizer que ninguém lança nada bom ultimamente. Pra começar os Black Ghosts.

The Black Ghosts é uma dupla inglesa de electropop que lançou uma série de singles promissores na internet e que recentemente lançou um disco carregado de personalidade e inovação de título homônimo. A banda trás singles cheios de referências à bagagem cultural de seus criadores. As letras sombrias e enxarcadas de um horror fantástico trazem citações de Edgard Allan Poe e até violinos distorcidos, tudo bem misturado com samplers de Atari e outros efeitos eletrônicos embasbacantes. Uma nuvem gótica paira sobre a música eletrônica maligna criada pelo duo.

Mas não espere nada muito dark, do mal, pra dançar com as paredes. Todas as canções trazem uma energia incrível e dançante. Ninguém consegue ficar parado, a menos que seja blazé demais para isso.

Eurythmics

Before the 1983 'Sweet Dreams' album, Eurythmics music was guitar based - some keyboard made an appearance, but not so much as to call it electro pop. The synth bass lines they used on 'Sweet Dreams' are great - try 'I could give you (a mirror)'. Have a listen to the haunting 'Jennifer', also on the 'Sweet Dreams' album. Favourite track from 'Touch' album has to be 'Here comes the rain again'. '1984' was still synth based, but not as obvious as the previous 2 albums. Subsequent albums had more of a balance between guitar and synth.

Hace bastante tiempo ya que no hablo de música. Estoy pasando por una etapa un poco rara, y todo porque el FIB me dejó tocada del ala. Me pasé más de dos semanas escuchando en exclusiva a los que cantaron en Benicassim.

Antes estaba encantada con el indie folk, tranquilito, genial para estudiar o descansar o divagar por los recovecos de la imaginación.

Y ahora cambio radical, he dejado el cartel del festival, pero estoy todo el día bailando con el electropop.

Aunque Santogold me esta gustando bastante, y a Cut & Copy no acabé de pillarles el punto, siempre hay excepciones.

Japan originally started out as a guitar band at the end of the 1970s. 'Quiet Life' saw them leave their glam rock mullets behind, cut down on the guitars and go for floppy fringes and more synthesizers instead. The main synth albums are 'Quiet Life', 'Gentlemen Take Polaroids' and 'Tin Drum'. Particular favourites of mine are 'Visions of China', 'Taking Islands in Africa' and 'Life in Tokyo'. In places their music seemed exotic, especially with the use of ethnic percussion and hints of oriental sounding keyboards.

Gary Numan & Tubeway Army

Might as well put Gary Numan and Tubeway Army together. Everyone remembers him as a synth man, but even back in the early 80s he still had guitars. In fact the earlier Tubeway Army records had more guitar than synth. He's still going now, but has turned up the guitars again and turned down the synths. 'Replicas', 'Pleasure Principal', 'Telekon' albums are worth listening to. Try 'I die, you die'. I'll also go for 'Airlane' which is an instrumental, but I still think it's great. Okay, here's the obligatory link to 'Cars' for you.... and Alan Partridge playing air bass to 'Music for Chameleons'.

Landscape

Landscape are only generally remembered for 'Einstein a go go', taken off 'From the tea rooms of Mars to the hell holes of Uranus' (one of the best album names ever). They had a few albums, but I would only class this one as synth pop (or should I say, synth pop I enjoy!). 'European man' and 'My name is Norman Bates' videos are worth watching too - doesn't look like they took themselves too seriously. The album title track reminds me of some early YMO, but a bit cheesier... 'night and day are just controls.'

I Haunt Wizards

I Haunt Wizards are a fairly new band - formed in October 2007. The keyboards remind me of old video games, sort of like YMO 'Computer games'. I only found out about them recently, but really like what they're doing. I think most of their music is in demo format and it's pretty raw, but it's worth a listen. Try 'That's a nice dress' and 'Sailor Moon'. According to I Haunt Wizards 'Genres are for pigeon-holing.' Well, I have pigeon-holed them under Electropop... I'm sorry, but I think it fits! Cast a spell on me if you think I'm wrong!

Yazoo

Yazoo (also known as 'Yaz' in North America) weren't going for long. A couple of albums, a couple of years and that was your lot. They seem to have been more prolific than that. Maybe it was the success they had with the few records and singles they did produce that makes me believe it. I can't decide on my favourite tracks - have a listen to 'Don't Go' and 'Ode To Boy'. They recently toured again. The price of the ticket put me off and rumours that Vince Clarke had taken a shine to Country and Western music. In 1982 I could have gone to see Yazoo, on to a club, drink a few pints and still have change from tuppence.

I'm sure Vince Clarke will pop up again in this blog, as he got around a bit.

Kraftwerk

Yes, of course 'Kraftwerk' make an appearance. Just in case you don't know, they've been going since the 1970s and started out very arty and didn't use many synths. 'Autobahn' was the track they made their name on - one side of the record consisted of a long version of the title track. I'm going to be controversial though and go for 'Airwaves' as the most electropop Kraftwerk track. Really enjoy listening to 'The Man Machine', 'Radioactivity' and 'Autobahn' too. I just like the way their music flows and it sounds effortless, mellow and warm. I know some people think it's cold, but to me it isn't.
