If there was ever a band that embodied its name, this is one.  The ability of Nick is one that he will be able to rocket to the top of the charts in no time.  As of yet, the band is unsigned, but their popularity on myspace is growing quickly.  The music is amazing.  Its the kind of stuff that after hearing it once makes you want to listen again.  The lyrics are smart, Nick's voice fits the instruments well, and the music is tight.

For example, the song "Fear of Flying" is emotional and well paced with solid vocals and a great rhythmic acoustic guitar.  This is the song that caught me (I'm a sucker for a well written acoustic song) but the rest of what he has to offer is pretty top notch as well which is a obviously a big plus.

One of the other perks of this band is that in a time when many bands are the cast from the same mold, the songs offered by A Rocket to the Moon, don't all sound the same.  They vary well in style, in lyrical content and in pacing.  The band's self categorization of powerpop, electonica, experimental couldn't be more accurate, and the experiment couldn't have gone better.  As I mentioned earlier, some songs are played mostly on acoustic guitar, but there is a huge electronic influence on this band, and it actually doesn't hurt.

They are certainly a fresh band that should be looked for in the future as a band that will have an impact on this generations youth.  They have a full length CD "Your Best Idea" and a 6 song Summer '07 EP.

Verve Remixed is a series of releases where vintage and newer jazz recordings are remixed by today’s electronic DJs and producers. The whole series is dope.

Verve Remixed, Volume 1 also has Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horn and Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto on the vocals and these songs hit the mix by producers like Thievery Corporation, Tricky, and Richard Dorfmeister (of Kruder & Dorfmeister). All of the Verve Remixed collections are a gorgeous mix of the cinematic and organic. But Volume 1 flows the best from start to end. The flow is something I look for in a release, since I pick out songs for my show and the documentaries all week — I want to just put a record on and let it take me away.

Liverpool, England's Ladytron have risen above retro-fetishism to become one of the more successful acts of the new millennium to embrace vintage synth-and techno-pop stylings. Formed in the late 1990s, the two-men/two-women band was perfectly on time for the dance-punk/electro-clash craze of the early '00s. However, while many bands from that scene vanished along with the trend, Ladytron continued to expand and develop its sound, looking to art rock and experimental music in addition to classic synth-based pop and techno.

Su nombre real es Joel Zimmerman, pero en el mundo artistico basta con decir deadmau5 para saber perfectamente de quien estamos hablando. Nacio el 5 de enero de 1981 en Toronto, Canada.

El nombre de Deadmau5 proviene de un incidente donde un ratón se arrastró en la computadora de Zimmerman. Escogió el nombre “Deadmau5” porque "ratón muerto" comprende demasiados caracteres usados comúnmente en el IRC.

Entre las que he re-encontrado se encuentra esta que sonó hasta principios del nuevo siglo. Desde su aparición a mediados de los 80s, 1985 para ser precisos, con dos temazos: Boy y I Touch Roses no pararon. Editaron un disco cada dos años y luego de su cuarto álbum llamado Lovebubble (1993), desaparecieron. Para los despistados como yo, les cuento que me refiero a Book Of Love.

Este cuarteto de viejos amigos de estudio formado en 1984, consiguió firmar contrato con SIRE Records gracias a su primer hit Boy. Susan Ottaviano (coros) y Ted Ottaviano (compositor/teclados/coros) a pesar de tener iguales apellidos no tienen ningún parentesco, Lauren Roselli (teclados/coros) y Jade Lee (teclados/coros), dejaron sus estudios de artes cuando por casualidad se les ocurrió juntarse a ¨hacer¨ música.

La banda solo tiene cuatro LPs y se formo en Filadelfia. Esta no fue de esas que se escuchaba todo el día, más bien mantuvo un perfil bajo (tal vez muy bajo) y siendo un excelente grupo, el tiempo los dejo de lado. Pasaron mas de veinte años de esos temas… me lleve una gran sorpresa volverlos a escuchar. Sorpresa de las que revolviendo mis discos cada tanto me llevo. En la web me encontré con algunos remixes con sonido más actual, pero me limito a recomendarles las cuatro placas originales, sobre todo las dos primeras, Book Of Love (1986) y Lullaby (1988 ). Las dos restantes Candy Carol (1991) y Lovebubble (1993) las dejo a vuestro criterio. Los Book Of Love ya forman parte de 80s y 90s, ahora doy vuelta el disco y a seguir desempolvando música. Lazy se formó en el año 2005. Luego de algunas vueltas y la maduración del proyecto, presenta su primer disco "Floyd, a Chillout Esperience".
Tributo a la legendaria banda "Pink Floyd", contiene doce temas en versiones Chillout. Temas como "Wish you where here" y "Money" entre otras, cuentan con el brillo del ritmo y las texturas de la Electro Bossa Nova. Este disco redescubre las notables composiciones del grupo británico de rock sinfónico que en los ´70 se convirtió en el artista más vendedor de discos del mundo y de ahí a auténticos mitos vivientes sin escalas.

Paul Schward ha utilizado un abanico musical rico en jazz, clásico, rock e informática musical electrónica y cinematográfica, usando elementos de cada uno de estos géneros para crear esta obra maestra. Las arias presentadas son lo más grande que la ópera actual cuando se editó este disco a principios del año 99 en los Estados Unidos alcanzó el número 4 en el Billboard Classical Chart. Un comentarista fue más lejos, ya que lo llamó: El CD que pudo salvar la música clásica.

Después de 12 años, 4 álbums de estudio y centenares de fiestas, Norman Cook anunció que ya no se llamará Fatboy Slim. Para el álbum que produce ahora mismo usará el seudónimo Brighton Port Authority, que ya había utilizado en el soundtrack de la serie de tv Heroes, donde grabó el track “He’s Frank”, y que además es un homenaje a su ciudad natal, donde realiza sus famosas fiestas Big Beach Boutique.

De todas formas, todavía figurará como Fatboy Slim en los line up de los festivales que ya tiene confirmados para este verano: Glastonbury y O2 Wireless Festival.

El cambio de alter ego no es singuna novedad para el ex integrante de The Housemartins, que durante sus más de 20 años de carrera ha trabajado bajo siete nombres distintos, donde Fatboy Slim fue sólo el más famoso de todos.

También con carácter de rumor, el nuevo álbum de Brighton Port Authority (BPA) que planea editar para fines de este año, contará con colaboraciones de Martha Wainwright y Iggy Pop.

Además, habría grabando un video para el single “Toe Jam”, con la participación de David Byrne.

This year Halou celebrates 11 years as a band and returns with their most compelling work to date, Wholeness and Separation. Although It has been several years since their last release on Nettwerk Records [”Wiser” 2001], the band has hardly been dormant. The past few years have been spent using their production skills to help sculpt the sound of such artists as DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, Frank Sinatra, Blackalicious, John Cale, Low, No Doubt and even a Rod Stewart remix which hit #1 on Billboard. In addition, Halou has scored 2 successful award winning films “This Girl’s Life” starring James Woods and “Quality of Life”. Throughout all of this, the band has still found the time to create their finest album.

Aunque no tiene definido el nuevo nombre, en algunas páginas especializadas sostienen que el afamado Dj emergerá renovado en su siguiente disco. Enmascarado, seguramente, en otro de los tantos sobrenombres estrafalarios que suele concebir. Pronto veremos qué tiene bajo la manga.
