廣告的魅力驚人，好創意，不僅能讓新商品瞬間暢銷，也能讓黯淡的老牌子鹹魚翻身。巨匠電腦本月邀請台灣廣告界的教父孫大偉，及奧美廣告執行創意總監胡湘雲共同主講創意美學，為聽眾補一帖清涼有勁的創意強心針。

謙稱自己出身草莽，始終認為美學是高居廟堂之上，供人膜拜景仰的孫大偉，隨著年紀漸長，才從攻城掠地、逐鹿天下的蠻族，轉型朝追求精緻質感的品味人士。但他也認為，人對美的需求和好感，早已是深植在基因之中，前提必須照顧到現實溫飽問題；幸運的是，一旦人感受到美的雋永和深刻，就很難再退而求其次，走上重量不重質的回頭路。

胡湘雲相信，每件事都會有一個很好的角度去看待它，如果創意工作者夠敏銳也夠用心，創意就能源源不絕產生。至於如何增加個人思考的敏銳度？她的建議是，要有知有覺地活。多數人只有在異地旅行時，才能處於清明的狀態，其實面對高度重複的日常生活，更應該自覺地尋求變化，從某個角度而言，處於邊緣狀態，對創作反而是件好事。

如何全面性提升社會對美的品味？孫大偉用「潛移默化，耳濡目染」八個字做出總結，如果能有意識地在每個選擇中，加入美感考量，久而久之，就能以集體的力量形成一個全新的美感社會。

BOSTON, Massachusetts. – July 24, 2008 – Web 2.7 media darlings Altovwood Werks today announced that the firm has successfully deployed an 8th generation immersive eLearning application for global heavy industry conglomerate BigLargeCo Inc.

Altovwood’s Chief Very Creative Officer, Stevee E. Elley, described the project’s objectives at a typically, oh so very-Altovwood Werks media gathering at the Pravda Vodka Bar. Accompanied by a harem of gorgeous hired brunette dolly birds, Elley explained;

“Mission Guarantee Our Objectives is the project name. It’s a bleeding-edge, massively single-player, pre-canned, slightly-experiential, many choice-response capturing, linear-progressive online virtually immersive click-thru broadcast. The virtually serious 3D world that we created was designed to instill in all 910,000 of BigLargeCo’s temporary factory workers an appreciation of the firms core values so that they can know them and are able to repeat them whenever instructed to by anyone wearing a dark grey suit and a BigLargeCo pin badge.”

Elley then went on to comment further about the project’s design and development process:

“When Chuck McChubby at BigLargeCo Inc approached us to take on this challenge we were, I must confess, really quite uncertain if we could rise to the challenge but rise to the challenge we did. We mobilized a team of the very best HTML 3.2, PrintShop Pro 4 and PowerSlide Presenter authoring experts who were available that morning, ordered in a truckload of caffeinated soda drinks and set to work.”

Amazingly, considering the sheer scale of the project – which is believed to be worth US$16.9million over two years - Altovwood Werks were able to conceptualize, design, develop, test, re-develop, critique, bemoan, deconstruct and deploy reasonably well in less than 9 months.

Users of the application are tracked using BigLargeCo’s SCROM 1.2-compliant Massive Learning System (MLS) enabling line managers and internal cost-reduction experts to identify workers who require an intervention. It has been deployed in the US and 187 other less-important countries and also translated into British English.

“We got value for money, great service and, I’d like to think, have raised the eLearning bar quite a bit with this one”, said Charley ‘Chuck’ McChubby, Very Senior Head of Things at BigLargeCo Inc.

The following outlines a course of action designed to:

• introduce laptops in a structured and sustainable manner
• develop support materials and more importantly structures that allow faculties to access and create resources that can be shared
• professionally develop staff in the use of technology in their classroom
• establish systems for managing laptops and learning at DHS
• facilitate the development of published positions and policies

The detail of the proposal is as follows. DHS should plan to:

1. introduce laptops into Year 9 in 2009 or as soon as possible
2. develop the online content management system Moodle to support T&L in Year 9 classes
3. purchase a subscription to Clickview
4. create a timeline for TPL that extends from semester 2 2008 into 2010
5. establish a team of ‘Pioneer’ teachers to facilitate professional learning
6. publish policies in the diary for laptop and internet use for 2009; especially for Year 9 students

A Brief Overview and Rationale

1. introduce laptops into Year 9 in 2009

Years 10, 11 and 12 are cohorts that have the pressure of external exams. Year 9 has NAPLAN but there is more flexibility in the delivery of courses. Year 9 is more likely to be disengaged from school and learning than 10-12; this would reinvigorate T&L for this cohort. It is suggested that Year 9 are not required to purchase exercise books but use their laptops.

2. develop the online content management system Moodle to support T&L in Year 9 classes

Reading about Moodle will make it obvious why this system would be a sound base from which to develop resources:

DHS needs to invest in supporting staff with quality resources.

4. create a timeline for TPL that extends from semester 2 2008 into 2010

Systematic planning for TPL can take place as whole school systems are developed strategically eg focus on Year 9, using laptops, Moodle and the philosophy of constructivist pedagogy using ICT (see http://docs.moodle.org/en/Philosophy)

5. establish a team of ‘Pioneer’ teachers to facilitate professional learning

A cross-faculty team that can be used to pioneer best practice in the classroom and facilitate PD with colleagues.

6. publish policies in the diary for laptop and internet use for 2009

It will be fundamental that we articulate – in diaries – to the school community our expectations and goals. The Technology committee may wish to consider (co)drafting a range of policies with the T&L committee

Conclusion

It is not clear how DET intends to support state schools implement the 'revolution' and this is, obviously, of great concern. It is clear that many other issues exist for the T&L, TPL, Technology Committees, faculties as well as the executive to address but this proposal charts a clear course of action that will enable the school to build on solid foundations. It is an ambitious yet achievable plan. It is about TPL, pedagogy and school planning not infrastructure. The plan is flexible and can be started now but full implementation delayed ie. If we do not have the laptops as soon as expected.

I'm really sold on micro-blogging especially for mobile learning . It's the way to go - short bits and pieces. You pose a question around some information and get learners to answer. Something that would take end-users only 3-5 min to accomplish. Servers let the client know there's new content and pass it along. It's quick, easy and best of all, from my experience, learners learn best with the small bits and pieces of Q&A information.

The goal of the Sports Bytes Competition is to facilitate on-demand STEM learning that is accessible via mobile phones. The Competition targets youth, between the elementary and high school grades, and seeks to spark their interest in the math and sciences; potentially influencing them to pursue higher education and careers in STEM disciplines.

Il concetto di Personal Learning Network (PLN) e quello di Personal Learning Environment non sono ancora molto diffusi. Graham Wegner dice che “it is hard to explain and sell what an online PLN is to educators without diving and experiencing it themselves”. E così nel post che ho letto l’autrice racconta come ha dimostrato un PLN in azione, utilizzando un network per arrivare alla creazione di una presentazione in una conferenza.

Questa presentazione si basa attivamente sulle informazioni raccolte nei commenti dei lettori del suo blog circa questions on Personal Learning networks e la visita di alcuni siti contenenti utili strumenti (web 2.0).

Il titolo stesso della presentazione deriva da un commento di Ines che afferma: “You must listen to the wisdom of the network”.

I commenti del blog mostrano la natura globale dei network, dal momento che i lettori / commentatori possono essere geograficamente dislocati nel globo.

Le parole chiave di alcune risposte dei lettori vengono evidenziate da un semplice strumento come Wordle, per creare una nuovoletta di tag.

Gli strumenti che ciascuno può utilizzare per creare PLN possono essere moltissimi; nella presentazione, anche in questo caso, i commenti dei lettori sono stati fondamentali. Infatti, in questi erano contenuti i tool più usati per diverse esigenze educative e formative.

Quali strumenti sia preferibile usare, non è una questione pertinente. Stiamo parlando di Network personali e dunque ciascuno utilizzerà quelli più adatti al proprio stile cognitivo e al proprio lavoro.

Dai commenti dei lettori è emerso questo diagramma:

1. Twitter è lo strumento più usato;
2. Quasi tutti hanno incluso strumenti di bookmarking sociale, come fondamentali nei propri PLN (del.icio.us e diigo);
3. Facebook.

Today, I was searching for some information on Lectora (eLearning authoring tool training) and I found an actual user group in Chicago. They are the Chicago Lectora User Group (CLUG).

This makes me very happy...with all my technical writing jobs, I am not doing as much eLearning these days. :-(

I have emailed the contact person for the Chicago group...hopefully this will lead to some really great eLearning opportunities and Lectora growth. I will keep you all posted.
