Have had a nice day today. Pippy and Peter came to visit. Twas fun. Me an Pippy put the world to rights and analysed everything, as normal. Peter played football and swordfighting in the garden with the piggies, as normal.

This evening, me and the piggies were upstairs. Little piggy found a book that has an accompanying CD. Tis all sorts of nursery rhymes. He wanted to put it on, so we did. It ended up with me and all three piggies prancing round the bedroom, singing nursery rhymes at the top of our lungs and laughing like goons. It was much fun. Silly spontaneous fun. Good times.

I went to the Doctors today. About my headaches and my heart strangeness. She was really good, didn't fob me off or anything. The last Doctor I saw didn't even come from behind her desk. It was the same one that prescribed me Fluoxetine (Prozac) when I told her I feel a bit down and tearful when I am pre-menstrual. I didn't take them.

Today's Doctor was good though. She looked in my eyes, took my BP, felt my head and tapped my cheeks (not too sure why, but still). She has prescribed me some stuff that I have to take when I feel my head coming on, and see if it helps atall. Even if it doesn't it will help to decide whether they are migraines or cluster headaches, or something different. She has assured me that she thinks it unlikely to be a brain tumour! ( i hadn't thought it was ). Thats good news then..

I also told her that I was a bit concerned given that my heart is still all over the shop, coupled with my recent discovery of biological dad dying of heart failure at 45. She is going to redo my ECG and then consider referring me to the Cardiologist for a nosey. Good Doctor.

Treatment: #7 of 12 of Taxol

Companion: Eza

Time: 3:40 p.m.

I was blessed enough to have Eza join me for this chemo treatment while she's home. For those of you who don't know Eza, she works on a ship for several months out of the year, so I was very happy to have her with me today.

Prior to today's chemo treatment, I had another ECG done to insure my heart wasn't messed up by the Adriamycin/Cytoxin treatments. Thankfully, the ECG results came back a-OK. In fact, Dr. Pinder noted that my heart is actually in pretty tip-top shape, scoring a "74." Not sure what that numerical designation means, other than the fact that Dr. Pinder said the number corresponds with how much blood the heart pumps out and that healthy hearts score a "55" at the bottom of the healthy range. Pretty cool.

As expected, the actual chemo treatment today was pretty uneventful. No new side effects or complications, no pneumonia (thank God), and nothing unusual about my labs (blood work). One thing I noticed after today's chemo treatment is that my rapid weight loss has started to slow down. I've dropped about 15 pounds since chemo began, and I'm very happy with that trend. Dr. Pinder said that my rate of weight loss is acceptable for now and that I might actually lose more weight after chemo concludes and I'm off of the steroids I've been prescribed as part of my treatment. I'm actually at a point where I don't fit most of my clothes anymore but am unwilling to invest too much in new clothes because: (1) I'm broke; and (2) I'm unsure what size I'll be when all is said and done with treatment. Those of you who know me well know that I have more than enough clothes stashed away in the back of my closet (perhaps even with tags on) that fit me. They may be several seasons old, but they'll fit me. Thank God I'm a pack rat!

The other thing I've noticed from the last two chemo treatments is that although chemo appointments later in the day allow me to get into the office in the morning, my sleep schedule is affected because of when I take my steroids (dexamethasone). I have to take the dexamethasone 12 hours before chemo and an hour before chemo, so with later appointments I have to take the dex right in the middle of the night. Not that I have a typical sleep schedule anyway, given my hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms that disrupt my sleep, but it's just one more thing that I need to deal with.

Having Eza with me today was such a treat. It was very amusing as we crossed our fingers as she attempted to drive Sunny (her huge Ford "Tonka Truck") into Virginia Mason's parking garage. We now know that Sunny will fit in a garage with a clearance of 6'4" . . . or was it 6'6"? Dang, I better not chance it the next time I'm driving Sunny into a parking garage. I was the last of the chemo patients today (we got out of there close to 6 p.m.) and my ECG was at 1 p.m., so Eza put in a full day to be my companion. After chemo we went to Green Leaf for dinner, where we had amazing food and great discussion. I ordered a tamarind soda, which I'd never had there before. Good stuff.

After dinner at Green Leaf, we made our way to Scott's birthday gathering, and Eza mentioned that our day together wasn't done -- she was not going to leave me until she got two big laughs out of me. This is exactly what makes my time with Eza so much fun -- she never ceases to surprise me with unusual challenges, even if we're just hanging out. As she and I attempted to navigate toward Beacon Hill from Georgetown (I chose the wrong I-5 exit, which put is in Georgetown to begin with), I struggled with directions that I would usually be very apt at giving. I apologized to Eza profusely, noting, "I don't know what's wrong with me, usually I give very good directions," to which Eza replied, "Perhaps it's because you just had chemo?" I know that doesn't read super funny here in this blogpost, but I have to tell you, Eza's comedic timing and intonation were brilliant in that moment. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Big Chortles. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines "chortle" as: 1 : to sing or chant exultantly <he chortled in his joy — Lewis Carroll> 2 : to laugh or chuckle especially in satisfaction or exultation. The more I think about it, the more I realize that this word screams "Eza." There is truly a healing power to laughter and good company, and with Eza I am blessed to have had both today.

Ugh. I don't know where to start, i can't organize my brain..stupid depression.. I don't get it, i've got meds?! They work sometimes, but other times, i'm worst off as i was before..

Well, i tried to talk to my mother about the whole marriage thing..Supposably, she didin't wanna tell me cause it's not a for sure thing..But i mean, every single one of her friends know.. Idk.. There was nothing i could say to her that wouldn't hurt her..So i just kept my mouth shut..Completely.. I want to support this, but i just don't. I can't. I hate the guy..And i feel so horrible for that..But then again i don't..Frig, i don't make any sense.. I just, i hate the fact that she can be so selfish, and drag us all into this damn abuse. &I hate the fact that i hate him.. &I don't want to tell my mom how do live her life, but i mean..I just wanna grab her and my siblings and get the hell outta here... Idk what to do.. FUCK.

I went for my blood tests today, man, i lost so much blood! &I had to get an ECG done..Eeeek, the nurse felt my boobies..LOL! Well, better get used to it eh/? I've got a full blown physical next week..Yikes... I'm scared to get these test results back, idk.

I've lost 2 pounds :D Yay@me!! Well..I'd better keep my mouth shut tho, i'm supposed to be going for treatement for this..I really don't want to, i just wanna loose the weight and be left alone.. That won't happen, but i can play my games, right? ..Yeah.. I hate hurting the people i love, but..it's not my fault.. and i'll appologize a million times, i already am.

On a brighter note, LAST DAY OF SCHOOL TOMORROW!!! ..then exams till next wednesday..But still, we get our year books tomorrow and i'm so exited :) I also got my pictures develloped today, there was only one that turned out with me and B, but it looks really good, i love it, all of em look good, i love my friends :) they're so awesome! I've got a bunch of group pictures, some with the fam. and one with L. They're all pretty pictures !

Anyway..i'm so fucken exhausted, and my stomach is so empty it hurts..I think i'm just gonna get to bed now,.

P.S: NOTE TO SELF> Give up the fake happyness act, people know better than to beleive you this time.

She loosened the strap, I looked away and focused on a Far side comic. A couple sitting in a car observing two lions in a field, unaware of another with its claw deflating the tyre. Ironic; I was deflating into seven vials of blood at that very moment, when the world became heavy. I kept trying to control the faint feeling, but the body responds differently to stress in that situation. I lay down and tried to calm, just breathing and relaxing.

After a while, I asked, what is the experience of a CT like? I didn't enjoy it, she replied. Of course, I do get claustrophobic and the restraints make me feel uncomfortable. Restraints? Well they need to use restraints because you must be perfectly still for the dye injection. And what does the injection feel like? That is the thing that creeps me out the most, she continued. Some people say it feels hot, like a river of lava flowing through your body. Is it painful? Oh no, not at all. I was not convinced.

I lay on the bed awaiting the ECG. Oh, we'll have to shave some of your chest to make better contacts for the electrodes. Great, I thought, faint and prickly, what next? Sweaty skin prevented the tape sticking (one sweats just before they faint - its a reaction from the sympathetic nervous system trying to cool down the body), so she had to use industrial strength tape for a better reading. Oh boy, now that hurt when it came off as with some more tufts of hair. She said goodbye and gave me a cup. We went into that.

Nigerian Very Reverend Professor Samuel Uwhubetine Erivwo experienced occasions of breathlessness for five years before being informed of the need for a heart operation. His son, a doctor by profession, chose to send him to Singapore for surgery when it became clear that his father needed urgent attention.

Professor Samuel had his first experience of breathlessness during his son’s wedding five years ago and had difficulty climbing a short flight of stairs. Thereafter, he experienced similar attacks and was prescribed medication to cope with the discomfort.

During his church’s Easter retreat this year, Professor Samuel again experienced breathlessness. He was unconscious for two hours and was eventually sent to a local hospital for treatment.

Professor Samuel was then referred to a specialist in the capital city and prescribed drugs which he later learnt was similar to previous medications he had taken. They controlled and suppressed symptoms, but would not cure his condition.

On further probing by Dr. Polycarp Erivwo, Professor Samuel’s son, the specialist revealed that Professor Samuel would require an operation.

Within ten days of being discharged from hospital, Professor Samuel had another attack.

Dr. Polycarp saw the urgency in the situation and made queries on treatment options with friends in Europe and South Africa.

Upon suggestion by his brother in Malaysia that their father sought treatment in Singapore, Dr. Polycarp contacted the National Heart Centre. The Global Patient Services Team at the National Heart Centre tended to his queries and allayed any doubts that he had.

Professor Samuel was no stranger to Singapore as he had visited the city on a few occasions on gospel missions. Coupled with positive feedback from friends, Dr. Polycarp decided to send his father to Singapore for treatment.

Dr. Polycarp elaborated, “The healthcare facilities in Singapore are excellent and cost of surgery is affordable. The high number of surgeries that the National Heart Centre in Singapore had performed was our deciding factor. It is also the only hospital in Singapore approved for heart transplants.”

The National Heart Centre's Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery crossed the 15,000 mark in its number of cardiac surgeries in 2002. It is the only approved centre in Singapore for heart and lung transplants.

It can be used both for people with high risk for heart diseases or for sports and fitness. There are two versions, one monitors continuously and you get a report when you hook it up to a computer. The other version gives you real time readings via Bluetooth to you PDA or similar. I guess the latter is more relevant for workout. Both have alarms which can be set to go off at certain hearth rates. The jacket will set you back €399 and should be available for ordering soon from Vital Jacket's website. Read more about it at talk2myShirt.
