• Temporarily closing airport operations - Operations temporarily ended at Seven Airports - Basel, Budapest, Krakow, Palma, Rzeszow, Salzburg and Valencia.
• Capacity Cuts at others - The airline is cutting down on 14% of its flights in/out of London's Stansted Airport this winter from 1850 to 1590 a week. British Airport Authority (BAA), owner of the airport, is charging 15% higher for the year (there was a 100% increase last year). Stansted per passenger charges have gone from £5 to £12 over the last five years. Resulting from this cutback, Stansted will lose 90,000 passengers (worth £8m)

Routes in Clondalkin and Blanchardstown have been diverted until further notice according to a report in the Herald.

This is because the local scummers beat the bejayzus out of a few drivers and they, quite rightly, refused to go there again for another round.

I'm sitting back now, in wait of the deluge from the local councilors. I can practically guarantee they will "slam" the decision by Dublin Bus.

But here's the thing: if you were a bus driver would you want to go to those places? Any local figure that criticises Dublin Bus' decision should be offered the chance to spend a day and night, driving these routes and picking up the dregs that get on.

Many years ago, I used to get the 13 and 13a route to work. Every day, regardless of the time, the upstairs deck would be filled with the very worst people you could think of. They were afflicted by neither poverty or deprivation, before you leap to their defense, they were simply, cunts. Verbal abuse of other passengers, smoking illicit substances, smoking in general, boozing, beating the heads of their children were all commonplace on this funbus to the city centre.  

I witnessed someone piss and shit themselves on the seat, one girl pull out another's hair extensions, a woman beating the crap out of her crying child, a drunk teenager vomiting everywhere, and some smelly 20-something reject writing his name all over the windows with a sharpie. On the day of the smoking ban (in workplaces) this girl lit up a fag and said "fuck de smokin ban, Oi don't bleedin care" never mind smoking on buses has been banned for considerably longer than in pubs....

That's not including the torrent of verbal abuse and threats endured by the drivers.

And I'm not even a fan of bus drivers. Many of them in Dublin are rude bastards and on many occasions have driven off even though they see me waiting for the bus. But if they deal with that fashion of cunts every day, I suppose I can't blame them too much.

So, sorry to the good people of D15 and 22, I'm sure you're inconvenienced by this, but while your streets are roamed by feral retards that need the crap kicked out of them/rounded up and sent to a camp, that's how it's going to be.

[Digg] The long awaited opening of the bypass around Moate and Kilbeggan opened yesterday (16 July 08). This new bypass removes several bottlenecks from the route and could shorten the length of the journey by 45 minutes at peak times. It is forecasted that this new road will remove up to 10,000 vehicles a day from the various towns and villages that are bypassed.

Construction on the €280m project began two years ago and was completed on budget and on time. The new section of road is currently a dual carriageway, but will be upgraded to motorway standard and is 29km long. This new section is part of the planned upgrading of the entire route between Dublin and Galway which is due to be completed in 2010. The Minister for Transport, Mr Dempsey, opened the road yesterday.

FORT WORTH, Texas — An enormous aircraft without transponders traveling up to 2,100 mph — at one time zooming toward President Bush's Crawford ranch — is similar to the mysterious object dozens reported seeing, according to radar documents examined by a group that studies unidentified flying objects.

"This shows ample evidence of UFO activity," said Kenneth Cherry, Texas director of the Mutual UFO Network, which has been studying phenomenon earlier this year in Stephenville and Dublin, about 75 miles southwest of Fort Worth. "They were turning at angles not possible by military aircraft."

His organization, called MUFON, requested documents from the Federal Aviation Administration, nearby military bases and other agencies under the Freedom of Information Act.

FAA spokesman Roland Herwig said Monday that he had not seen the radar information provided to MUFON and could not comment on it or the group's interpretation of the data.

MUFON requested reports from the night of Jan. 8, when several dozen people in Texas dairy country — including a pilot, county constable, business owners and former air traffic controller — reported seeing a large silent object with bright lights flying low and fast.

Some folks reported seeing military jets chasing it, which also was confirmed in the FAA radar documents.

After talking to witnesses, MUFON investigators ended up looking into 300 reported UFO sightings spanning several weeks and said most were probably planets, cloud formations or stars.

But Cherry said the FAA radar data, which was examined by a radar expert and an engineer who works with MUFON, indicates that some reports do not have logical explanations.

"When you look at that, combined with the witness reports — that's as close to evidence of UFOs as I've seen," he said.

The object was between 524 feet and 1,000 feet long, according to a MUFON report released earlier this month. It's unclear if radar picked up the same object at different times or more than one object, Cherry said.

The object was within 10 miles of Bush's ranch about 8 p.m., but the president was not there that night. MUFON only requested information until 8 p.m. that night, so it's unclear where the object went after that.

At times when radar picked up a slow-moving object and fast-moving object, it was at the same time and place as witnesses' accounts, according to the report. At one time, the object accelerated to 532 mph in about 30 seconds and decelerated to 49 mph in 10 seconds, the report stated, based on radar information.

"The authors cannot comment on the source or origin of this object, but it is clear to the authors that the unknown object was real and not imaginary," they said in the MUFON report.

Kein Wunder, dass er in seinem Booklet zu jedem Song eine ausführliche Erklärung gibt. In Irland ist Damien Dempsey durch seine Mischung aus traditionellem irischem Folk, gepaart mit modernen Lyrics schon lange ein Star. Da lag es natürlich nahe, auch einmal ein Album mit traditionellen Songs zu veröffentlichen. Das Ergebnis ist ein Album geworden, bei dem man je nach Songstimmung an weite grüne Wiesen, die rauhen Küsten Irlands und geselliges Beisammensein im Pub denkt. Eine warme atmosphärische Mischung, typisch irisch. Gewiss kein Album, dass man sich nebenbei anhört, sondern ein Album wie ein guter Whiskey. Der wird nämlich auch nicht einfach so runtergeschüttet, sondern erfordert Würdigung und Zeit. "The Rocky Road" ist ganz klar alles andere als Indie, aber ein Musterstück für irischen Folk, der leider schon viel zu oft durch Irish-Punk-Bands, wie Mr. Irish Bastards und Konsorten vergewaltigt wurde. Aber solche Punk-Bands denken ja auch Celtic Glasgow sei ein Fußballverein aus Irland.

Apropos fehlende Kommunikation: Haben ja zurzeit kein Internet zuhause. Es funktioniert einfach nicht. Mal schauen, hoffentlich habe ich Sonntagabend dann wieder welches.

Ich war mit Holger in der Residenz des Deutschen Botschafters. Sehr hübsch hat er es dort, schöner Garten. Wir organisieren doch ein Wein-Event dort... Darum mussten wir zur Vorbesprechung mal vorbeischauen. Der Botschafter war nicht da - zum Glück, wenn ihr euch an unser erstes Event erinnert ;-)

En una cueva cerca de las costas del mar del Norte, se encontró un duende llamado Young; con el Dios de la Eternidad. El duende no quería envejecer, por lo cual le dijo que haría lo que el quisiera para ser eterno. El Dios le dijo que para que esto sucediera debía entregarle muchas almas, para compensar su longevidad. Young cerró el pacto dando su palabra de honor.

Cuando llego a su hongo en el bosque, se sentó en su sillón, encendió su pipa y comenzó a pensar como iba a hacer; para llevar las almas hasta aquella cueva tan alejada. Que artilugios iba a tener que inventar. Se sentó en una mesita, iluminado con una vela, hizo su lista de personas que iba a ofrendar. Le costaba mucho decidir quienes iban a ser, pero bien valía ser eterno.

Al día siguiente comenzó la entrega de almas al Dios de la Eternidad, como se había convenido. Todo fluía muy bien. Hasta que un día el Dios le dijo, Young ten en cuenta que si quieres mantenerte vivo; siempre tu vida será así. El tiempo pasó, y cada vez tenía menos gente a su alrededor; los animales iban desapareciendo. Empezó a sentir la soledad, y se dió cuenta que el era responsable de estar solo definitivamente, y por toda la eternidad!.

Cabizbajo se dirigió a la cueva donde estaba el Dios de la Eternidad, lo esperaba ansiosamente con la nueva alma que le entregaría. No fue así. Arriving in Paris for a month last August, sampling Vélib was one of the first things I did. I hadn't been anywhere near a bike in over a decade, but that first cycle - the collision with a pavement excepted - had me hooked (to the point where getting my own bike became a priority upon my return to Ireland). In the space of a few days Vélib became my main mode of transport around the city. I looked forward to each journey, with the morning trip helping to get my brain alert and the evening ride home clearing away any work-induced cobwebs.

From the saddle of the many Vélibs I used over the month I began to experience a city I thought I knew well in a completely new way. I became familiar with the subtle inclines of the streets, the intricate workings of Parisian traffic, the most convenient routes from x to y. On Sundays, when the roads running alongside the Seine are closed, I could take to the empty bus lanes and wend my way down to the river, and join hordes of other newly bike-loving Parisians on leisurely spins. Best of all, a spin down the rue de Rivoli offered ample opportunity to pretend (within the confines of one's own mind, of course) that you were in the final stage of the Tour de France.

Within days of Vélib's debut, on 15 July, it was being reported that a similar deal had been struck for Dublin. It's a year on, and while some of the hoardings included in the deal have been put up none of the distinctive bicycles have, as yet, made their way onto Dublin's streets. I hope that they do so sooner rather than later - and that they put in more than a few hundred bikes. While using the system in Paris I often found myself thinking about how the scheme could work here, and the simple truth is that if it was well-maintained, there's no doubt that a Vélib style scheme (or Rothar, as they might decide to call it) could work just as well in Dublin as it has in Paris.

There's no doubt that, despite my rose-tinted experience of it, Vélib, and schemes like it, has its problems. Vandalism occurs regularly, though the fact that the bikes are so distinctive, and electronically tagged, means that there is less theft than one might expect. However, should the bikes appear in Dublin, such problems could be kept to a minimum if the City Council were willing to implement regular checks of bikes and stations by maintenance crews (as in Paris), as well as surveillance systems at stations.

The truth is that the positives of introducing a similar scheme to Dublin far outweigh the negatives, in the first instance by helping the transport situation in the city. Such bikes could, as in Paris, become an integrated part of the transport network in the city, encouraging people to leave the car at home and take the bus or train in and then finish the remainder of their journey by bike, without worrying about it getting stolen or lugging it home with them. It's clear, though, that the greatest benefit of these schemes lies in just encouraging people to start cycling, be it for the first time - or for the first time in ages. If they don't enjoy it, then that's okay. They can leave the bike back. However, it's probably quite hard to find someone who - with some practice, some knowledge of the rules of the road, and a helmet, of course - doesn't derive great joy from zipping past traffic, having their journey times cut, feeling fitter, and simply enjoying the experience of travelling around their city.

El Misterio
El Cuerno del Unicornio es aún más antiguo que su portador viviente, y esto significa que es una parte esencial de su origen divino. Existe la creencia que Dios puso su propia materia elemental para dar forma y nacimiento al cuerno, que luego aparecería sobre la frente del Unicornio. Ha sobrevivido al fuego original y a las inundaciones sucesivas del Génesis de la Tierra conocida, al tacto de reyes, santos profanos. Durante mucho tiempo se ha sostenido la teoría de la existencia, de un único cuerno con miles de desdoblamientos físicos y temporales.

Esto que parece una elucubración poco clara, podría explicarse de este modo: Sólo existe un cuerno mágico original, que aparece en cada Unicornio haciendo una prolongación de sí mismo; y representando la eternidad y omnipresencia de Dios a través de él.

Es un talismán de poder soberano, que incluso habiendo sido seccionado de su portador; puede atraer a otro Unicornio viviente. Pero ésta es su advertencia: su fuerza y virtud sólo se pueden activar, por obra de su verdadero propietario. Su luz disminuirá hasta extinguirse, si está en manos de otro.

En el Cuerno reside la historia total del Unicornio, y quizá del mismo Universo. Su forma es una espiral: las dos mitades, o flautas, se enlazan entre sí. En su juventud –o como mida el tiempo el Unicornio- el aspecto del Cuerno es suave y simple. Las flautas, apretadas como hilos de una cuerda, manifiestan cierta energía vibrante y compacta, y un resplandor blanco y fuerte que no emite calor alguno.

Cuando el Unicornio nace, no posee ningún cuerno en su frente. Es un pequeño ser, macho o hembra, que no se diferencia en nada de una simple cría de caballo. Sólo algunas especies traen al nacer un incipiente bultito cubierto de pelo, que indica la presencia del germen del Cuerno. Sin embargo, rápidamente se desarrolla y aparece sin dolor ni sangrado, como en todas las bestias que poseen cornamenta.

A medida que el Unicornio va viviendo, el Cuerno experimenta una transformación notable; la espiral se alarga retorciéndose sutilmente. Esto ilustra bien la índole viviente y evolutiva del Cuerno. En la plenitud de sus años, los giros del cuerno de esta criatura son aún mas relajados. Ya de edad muy avanzada, el Cuerno adquiere surcos y grietas que son el grabado signo de las lecciones y sucesos que ha experimentado.

El Unicornio parece considerar su Cuerno como el recipiente, o el cauce de sus pensamientos, o quizás como el órgano de un sentido ignato, e inherente a la divinidad más alta a que pueda remitirse. Algunas veces, los Unicornios han sido representados con alas, lo que los confunde en cierta medida con el Pegaso Alado, con el cual en verdad no tiene parentesco alguno. En esas oportunidades, lo único que diferencia a ambas criaturas es la presencia del Cuerno. Es posible que la cualidad de transportarse por el aire que sí posee en Unicornio, alado o no, provenga de la capacidad del cuerno de trascender las dimensiones de tiempo y espacio por medio de su materia especial y procedencia cercana a la creación original.

El Cuerno no está inclinado ni hacia atrás ni hacia adelante; recto, se alza directamente de la frente de la creatura, poco mas arriba de los ojos. De tonalidad brillante y más blanca que la nieve, más suave que el marfil, vibra de vida, aún más que la carne mortal; abriga sentidos de muy largo aliento y ocupa al mismo tiempo ésta y otras dimensiones físicas. Por ello es capaz de penetrar cualquier sustancia. Existen quienes dicen que algunos Unicornios poseen cuernos de apariencia metálica o nacarada. En horas de peligro o de prolongada concentración, el Cuerno puede exhalar cierto brillo o un suave resplandor, que cambia su natural color blancuzco por otro más rojizo.

La duración del Unicornio sobre la Tierra es mucho mayor que la del Hombre. Pero está sujeto, como todo lo creado, al Tiempo, a la edad, a la reproducción y a la final disolución y muerte.

Todo lo que de hermoso posee el Hombre está sujeto a la decadencia: cada año deja su huella, hasta que el cuerpo mortal termina en polvo. No así el Unicornio: los años incontables no afectan a su belleza: su crepúsculo es tan bello como su alborada. Pero cuando muere, al fín, perece todo y de una vez; ya no se lo ve en dimensión alguna hasta el fín del tiempo, no retorna como espíritu ni fantasma ni ser invisible alguno. Su partida deja, sin embargo, un monumental recuerdo: su fuerza y virtud maravillosa.

Aunque son muchos los años del Unicornio, tienen no obstante un límite, pues cuanto existe en el Tiempo debe el Tiempo deshacerlo. Pero cuando finalmente le llega la muerte, su forma externa no se corrompe. Tal cual la madera entrega su fuerza a las llamas y solo deja atrás las cenizas, asi también el espiritu de la creatura libera cuanto elemento alguna vez fue su vestido; el viento los esparce.

Sólo de este modo se puede obtener un cuerno que conserve valor y poder, pues no existe brazo fuerte ni red de brujería que pueda arrancar el asta espiralada de su viviente dueño sin perder así todas las capacidades mágicas del mismo.

Así pues, de todos los aspectos del Unicornio el que más impresión causa en la mente del Hombre es el Cuerno, espiralado, solitario, grande y poderoso. Y así debe ser, pues el asta es su talismán y su marca distintiva. En ella se concentra su fortaleza, sabiduría y sutil entendimiento. El Cuerno es exterior y visible, pero tambien es la forma mística e inasible de esta criatura: permanece, soberano, trasmutándose a sí mismo a través de las edades en diversas e infinitas formaciones.

We had a bit of a delay in Dublin, but nothing to worry about. I've been having fun wandering around Charles de Gaulle - I had to take a rollercoaster to get to my departure gate. It was brilliant!!!! I'm now in an area that has Korean-looking people in it, so that's probably a good sign.

Dublin airport was crap. There were hippies sleeping all over the floor of the departures. Personally, I would have turned the hose on them.

Then, when I was queueing for security, I had a pair of them in front of me. A guy and a girl, not a couple, but clearly lusting after each others' smelly bodies.

The guy tried to impress the girl by telling her about a survey he conducted on whether people believed that penguins could fly. The point was, he said, to see how many people were open minded. He said it proved that they weren't.

I think it proved that he's an asshole!

The weather was a good omen of the brilliant day we were to have .Sunshine all the way!

Francis, Patricia and I met as arranged at The Gresham Hotel. This was the meeting point for the 4 Caring Organisations…. Caring For Carers, Carers, Carers Northern Ireland and Carers Alliance who were invited to the Garden Party in the Arus.30 members represented Caring for Carers and our coordinator was Geraldine Clarke from Cavan.After a tasty lunch we were transferred to the Arus by coach.5 coaches in all arrived and we had to queue to meet President Mary Mc Aleese http://www.president.ie/index.php?section=20&lang=eng and Martin M Aleese .It was my first time  there and we got to see a few rooms. Needless to say we were in awe of the décor, paintings, furnishing and furniture. Everyone got the chance to meet them personally and had photos taken with them. All the staff were very attentive and ensured that we had a super day. All sorts of eatables were provided in the Hyde Room this was followed by a selection of beverages which we partook (in moderation) in the brilliant sunshine of the garden. Very relaxed in a surreal surrounding. Several musical groups entertained us in a marquee. The President’s address lasted app.20 mins.Time was moving on and before long it was time to say goodbye but not before being served chocolate strawberries…delicious!!!Our bus awaited us and so we left the Arus with many pleasant memories (and our souvenir serviette).We were transported to the train station in the centre of Dublin city. A day to remember and relate to our grandchildren for years to come.

Remarks by President McAleese at a Garden Party for Carers, Áras an Uachtaráin, Tuesday 8th July 2008

Good afternoon everybody, and a big welcome to Áras an Uachtaráin. Martin and I and all the staff here are delighted that so many of you have been able to make the journey - in some cases the very long journey - to come and spend the afternoon here with us. For many of you today's outing will have required a great deal of advance planning to arrange care cover, so I want you to know how much I appreciate your making the effort.

Gathered in this wonderful [waterproof] marquee today we have people from all over Ireland, all of whom have one important thing in common: each of you here is a carer. That's a concept we never used to have a word for - we took for granted that those who had chronic illnesses or disabilities would be cared for, usually by close relations. Only in recent years have we looked much more closely at the phenomenal work undertaken by carers, the relentless pressures they bear around the clock, the personal sacrifices they make, giving up work in some cases or trying to hold down a job and care simultaneously, making do with less income and so less choice, because of the illness of a spouse or family member, living sometimes very isolated and lonely lives through having very little time off to get a break or socialise.

Events like last month's National Carers' Week have done much to raise our awareness of what life is like for carers. We salute your love, kindness, compassion and courage and we look forward with your help to creating an island of Ireland where those burdens are more evenly spread, more easily shared.

Today's garden party is about saying thank you for all you do and for the powerful witnesses you are to love that is more than words or sentiment but is lived in the ups and downs, the pressures and strains of everyday lives that confront much more difficulties than most other people. Those for whom you care are very blessed by your dedication to their wellbeing.

So this is your hard-earned and well-deserved day - to relax and have fun, to enjoy the food, the entertainment, the house and gardens and hopefully to get to know others who are in very similar situations. So if you get the chance, reach out your hand and introduce yourself to the strangers around you. They may be only a few minutes away from becoming friends.

We have a great Áras team who all want you to have a really memorable and happy day. A big thanks to all of them as well as to our fantastic entertainers and our friends in the Civil Defence, the Gardaí and the Tour Guides.

Es un lugar donde no existe la muerte, la vejez, la enfermedad ni la tristeza.

Este lugar, éste nombre, me sirvió sastisfactoriamente de inspiración. Banquetes, canciones y bailes son sus divertimentos, y el tiempo transcurre con tanta rapidez que cientos de años se confunden con unos días.

Los celtas no temían la muerte porque creían que su espíritu iba a Tir Nan Og, y que al final se reencarnaría en una forma terrena. Su arte es representativo de esta creencia.

Las series de espirales contínuas [nudos como "El ciclo de la vida", "trisqueles"...] simbolizan la continuidad de la vida y de la muerte.

A pesar de que los celtas creían en numerosos dioses, algunos de ellos auténticamente terroríficos, no tenían el concepto de infierno como lugar al que el espíritu podía ir después de la muerte.

La sectiunea "About Us" gasiti date despre activitatea si succesul site-ului. http://www.irishjobs.ie/ este numarul 1 in Irlanda cu peste 963000 de vizite pe luna si 526000 de vizitatori unici. Ofera informatii despre 45000 de oferte de joburi, fata de 10000 de oferte gasite pe cele mai mari site-uri din Romania, in conditiile in care Dublinul are aproximativ jumatate din populatia Bucurestiului.

O alta aplicatie folositoare a site-ului este Salary Center. Cu ajutorul ei, puteti verifica salariul dintr-un anumit domeniu, tinand cont de zona tarii care este luata in considerare pentru job si de perioada de 1 an calendaristic. Pentru mine, ca viitor inginer chimist, m-ar tenta zona de vest a Irlandei, pentru ca imi ofera cam de 10 ori mai mult decat ofera Romania pentru acelasi post.
