DETROIT (AP) - Kid Rock wants fans to know it's OK to illegally download his music.

And while they're at it, they should steal cars, designer clothes and iPods, too.

Well, maybe not.

The 37-year-old Detroit musician posted a "special announcement" on YouTube last week urging fans to "steal everything."

Kid Rock says in the video that he's so rich, he can't complain if fans steal a song or two off the Internet without paying him.

In fact, he says, people should "level the playing field" by stealing anything they need from wealthy corporations.

He mentions laptops, iPods, Toyota vehicles ("It's a foreign car company, so who cares?"), gasoline and Tommy Hilfiger clothing as potential targets for the five-finger discount.

But the rap-rocker, who has resisted selling his music on iTunes and other online stores, tells The Associated Press he was just kidding.

"I was just trying to have some fun with it," Kid Rock said before playing in Wednesday's Buick Open Pro-Am, with friend and pro golfer John Daly, at Warwick Hills near Flint.

The video had more than 100,000 views as of Wednesday afternoon.

Frade que faz canções para divulgar Evangelho vai abrir para o Judas Priest.

Aos 62 anos, Cesare Binozzi, um frade franciscano da ordem religiosa dos capuchinhos, tem uma banda chamada Irmão Metal, que já gravou 15 discos de forma independente, com músicas que falam de temas religiosos.

Este ano o grupo participa do principal festival de música heavy metal da Itália, o Gods of Metal, no próximo fim de semana, na cidade de Bolonha.

A banda pisará no palco no domingo cantando músicas do seu último disco, Mistérios. A noite será fechada por um show do Judas Priest.

Segundo os organizadores, o festival deverá atrair um público de cerca de 100 mil pessoas.

"Não uso a música para ganhar dinheiro, mas para difundir os valores ligados à Igreja. Se a linguagem é dura, é somente porque assim é a realidade", afirmou o frade ao jornal Corriere della Sera.

A intenção do frade é transmitir aos jovens os ensinamentos do Evangelho de um jeito diferente do que é pregado na igreja.

"O heavy metal é energia pura, intensa e tem sua beleza, além de conteúdo, porque faço música com letras que ajudam a entender coisas importantes a nível de fé e de vida", disse o religioso à BBC Brasil.

"Os jovens não são bobos ou estúpidos. Entendem que o que digo tem sentido e valor."

Binozzi conta que ele mesmo escreve as letras das canções - que falam de droga, família, amor e fé - enquanto os outros três componentes da banda, o guitarrista, o baixista e o baterista, fazem a música.

"As letras são boas porque falam de coisas da vida, como o álcool, sexo, a vida em geral, temas normais. Se você ouve o disco sem entender as palavras, parece uma música heavy metal como as outras", disse o baterista, Andrea Zingro, à BBC Brasil.

Segundo o músico, é mais divertido tocar com o frade do que com outros cantores.

"Não acho estranho. É uma pessoa como as outras, e tem experiência em muitas coisas. Nos divertimos muito mais com ele do que com outros cantores", disse Zingro.

Símbolo de amor

Frade Cesare diz que gosta de todo tipo de música, mas tem preferência pela metaleira, ainda que o gênero esteja muito distante do que tradicionalmente se ouve nas igrejas.

Ele diz que o heavy metal, ao contrário do que muitos dizem, não tem ligações com ritos satânicos e cultos ao diabo.

"O heavy metal é o oposto do satanismo. Há dois ou três grupos que se dizem satânicos, mas são poucos em milhares que nada têm a ver com o demônio.

"Conheço o guitarrista do Metallica. Ele faz meia hora de oração antes de ir ao palco. No fundo é música boa e vontade de socializar", afirmou o frade.

Nem mesmo o gesto típico dos metaleiros, com os dedos mindinho, indicador e polegar apontados tem simbologia negativa, segundo ele.

"É um símbolo do amor, quer dizer eu te amo", interpretou.

Cesare Bonizzi trabalhou como operário e comerciante antes de entrar para o convento Musocco, nos arredores de Milão.

Ele foi ordenado sacerdote em 1983 e iniciou sua atividade pastoral trabalhando com grupos de motoristas de bonde e metrô da cidade. Foi neste ambiente que começou a compor suas primeiras canções, como A dança do bonde.

O público que freqüenta os shows de heavy metal não vê o frade com desconfiança, garantem os músicos.

"Os jovens gostam dele", disse o baterista.

"Às vezes tem alguém que se incomoda, não porque seja contra mim pessoalmente, mas porque não deve gostar de padres. O que posso fazer? Em geral o relacionamento é muito bom", afirmou o religioso.

Well after years of saying I would never do it I finally broke. I PAID for a digital download of an mp3. I used to follow the idea of "try before you buy" and promise myself if I liked it I'd buy the physical product. (CD or Vinyl) Now however is the age of Digital Only releases. Which leaves me in a moral decision to "steal" the download or pay for it. The main problem is the fact that I don't have a credit card and I don't want iTunes on my PC.
So what was the turning point you ask.
Well Kilkenny rapper Captain Moonlight sent out a nice bulletin on Myspazz informing people how to get his latest single. And it couldn't have been easier. You can pay for it with a 99c text message. Awesome. No credit card and no iTunes. Happy Days. I suppose I should link his site Captain Moonlight (check out "Now You're Hurlin'" and "Durty Cunts") and the download site is DownloadMusic.ie which has a bunch of great irish bands and it's sales are counted in the Irish Charts.
