On May 17, soon after I started this blog, and in response to a request I made for reader doodle submissions, I received one by cartoonist Rick Parker depicting a Schrek-like figure up to his chest in liquid and holding a sign with the number 9 on it. In his note Rick explained that his idea while doodling the image was to imagine what a number would look like if it were a person. Clever concept, I thought. Loved the image and posted it. A bit later Rick sent along the number 5 guy, above. I think he's even cuter than Mr. 9. You don't have to be a professional like Rick to have a favorite doodle published on my blog. Rick Parker is a hyper-talented professional cartoonist best known as the artist of MTV's Beavis and Butt-Head Comic Book. He was also on staff at Marvel Comics for many years and did lettering and production work in the 1970's and 1980's. Currently, he's drawing the Introductory pages featuring the "Old Witch," "The Vault Keeper "and "The Crypt Keeper" for Jim Salicrup's new release of Tales From The Crypt, published by PaperCutz. Rick also teaches comic art in the New Jersey public and private school systems and has conducted classes in comic strip creation and seminars at the Newark Museum. If I could draw I'd paint a world of words. Sentences flowing as curls of hair over phraselike cheekbones and idiomatic lips. My girl would buzz with conversation and she'd just have to sit there, smoking paper chapters into ash and sipping coffee with bleary love letters condensing onto her lyrical eyelashes. It's an idea that bothers me and I scrawl doodle after doodle once my mind switches off and the ideas stop working. Sometimes it's just keeping my pen occupied. But maybe one day I'll have a wild romance with an artist and we'll live penniless in a garret somewhere, making it all come true.

Turn up the air conditioning, snuggle in the comforter with big, fat, fluffed up pillows at your side. And when you turn out the lights, the last sight before you drift off is the faint glow of stars right above you. How comfy is your crib?

And so for about a quiet half an hour, with a cup of warm milk tea in my hand, I was transported to pre-and post- second World War Tokyo and Shanghai while sitting on my office nook. It was a mini pleasant moment - like reading the morning paper on an open patio with a cup of coffee and the warm sunshine around me.

I only realized today that having to be in the office at seven in the morning can actually be nice. And it's these kinds of happy little moments that make me grateful that I am a living, breathing and reading human being.

ah hahah this is very fun. i must say the portrait is not very well drawn it was done in 15 minutes but i wanted to get to the photoshopping part. :D so.. here it is. pictures within pictures. the portrait is drawn from a photo, and i took a photo of the portrait which was drawn from the photo, and an image was created with digital additions to the photo. photos within photos. ok hah thats nonsense its just something that i suddenly felt like doing. :)

Chances are, you have never heard of this youtuber in your life. Unless, you've followed along in last years lip sync contest by Samsung. Timkressin's video placed first place in the event. Anyway, although I've know about his videos for quite some time, I've finally decided to doodle him (Tim, one of the brothers who use the channel).

This particular doodle is modeled after an older photo. It's available on their website under photos. Therefore if you're coming straight from one of their newer videos you may not recognize him entirely.  There is also a little Easter Egg hidden in the inkscape file.

Pretty sneaky of me eh? Well...I though so.

"He had originally purchased the goat to clear his property of kudzu. But, when the goat's task was completed and it was time to say good-bye, Paul found he couldn't bring himself to part with it. With a twinge of sentimental sadness, he had to admit the hard truth to himself....he had bonded with the goat."

[Yet another doodle inspired by a lunchtime conversation. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that our outdoor eating area is under high tension lines.]

I was chatting online with a good bud of mine when he shot me this link... Jackson Pollock.  Needless to say, that was the end of our conversation because I became totally enamored by the site.  What's not to love about creating Pollack-like paintings on your computer with a click of your pen (or mouse)?  I guess my next step would be to try to pass it off as "art" like Pollack.  Nah... how many times are people really going to fall for that?!?!

I got really lazy with this doodled.  Right off the back you'll notice that there are no shading lines on his pants or shirt.  He's also sitting on a bed which I also neglected to add shading/depth into.  It sort of looks like he's sitting on the side of a wall now.

Anyway the real purpose for me posting this is; I wanted to try out a different doodling tool. The entire guitar and amp was made using the bezier tool instead of the usual calligraphy brush.  I'm going to continue to work with this tool as it greatly aids in shaping smooth curves.

I want to revist this doodle at a later date and add in the missing shading. Perhaps when I'm less tired. Eh, sorry Matt.

haha ok that may sound a bit nonsensical but it was just something that popped into my head while i was doodling. but somehow sometimes i believe fate plays a bigger role than the control that we think we have. a greater order always exists. haha. what a contradictory person i am.

Well, Lisanova has finally been doodled.  There are parts in this doodle I love and parts that I hate.  I think that the shoulders and arm placement came out well. While the lower half of her body is drawn a little weird. I think that the crotch part has too little lines and the abdomen has too many lines.  I was not really up to figuring out how to make it better. It's just a doodle after-all.

I have also gotten another request for a doodle.  It's another character from liamshow... Grandma?  I'll probably working on this real soon as I've seen a clip of this youtube video.  It's pretty hilarious! Plus, I think it will be a challenge to complete the doodle.

Well technically this counts as a girl doodle right?  Eh well, lisa is almost done as well. I just wanted to fulfill the request.  No matter how creepy it was to doodle this.
