As August comes to a close I have noticed things slowly slipping away.  At the All-Star Break, the Sox were a half game up on the Tampa Bay Rays, and all was right with the world.  Now, August 25th, we are 4.5 games back in the division and ONLY 1 GAME UP in the Wild Card standings, hovering slightly above the Twins (where the heck did they come from?) and keeping a close eye on the AL Central race, with just a half game separating the Twins and White Sox.  Scary right?

When the season started it seemed like Boston had everything going for it.  I mean, not much changed from '07 to '08...so how have things gone so wrong? 

First and foremost: Injuries.  First it's my Mikey Lowell with his bum thumb, then Big Papi feels a pop in his wrist (never good) and even though I dont like him, Schilling has season-ending surgery.  As of today, Lowell is back on DL with an oblique strain, Lugo is out (but that actually has been a benefit), David Aardsma is on the DL for the 2nd time this season, Wake has been feeling achy, Bartolo Colon hasnt recovered from swinging a bat in Interleague play, Josh Beckett has a numb hand and J.D. Drew has a herniated disk in his lower back. 

Second: Pitching problems.  It's not just the bullpen anymore folks, the starters have been giving up runs right and left lately.  I have one word: Buchholz.  He's not ready for the big show (the no-hitter is so far in the past it looks like a speck) andhad been shipped to Double A Portland where he belongs.  Insert Paul Byrd.  I like Paul, he throws strikes, works quick, doesnt walk people.  But there's one little problem, he leads the AL in home-runs allowed, andin his first 2 starts with the Sox, he has promptly shown why.  In his defense, he had to face the same team (Blue Jays) 3 times in a row, which is just not fair.  If hitters can't figure you out the 3rd time around then they don't belong in the major leagues.  Should-have-been-Cy-Young-last-year Josh Beckett has not been the same guy that he was in 2007.  Everytimeit looks like he has found his groove, putting together back-to-back quality starts, he implodes.  If that's not bad enough, our most reliable starter Mr. No-Hitter Lester had the worst outing of his career on Saturday, lasting 2.1 innings and serving up 7 runs.  And then of course, there is the bullpen.  Okijima is not the same dominating lefty he was last year, he used to be the perfect bridge to Papelbon and now I wince when he comes in.  Delcarmen doesn't like to throw his fastball, which tops out in the high 90's and instead throws breaking ball after breaking ball until hitters catch on andsmack him around.  Chris Smith, who you ask?  Exactly my point.  So then you throw a rookie and potentially amazing starter into the bullpen halfway through the season and hope that he can be your savior.  Lucky for them Justin Masterson has come through (for the most part) thus far. 

Last but certainly not least: Manny being Manny.  Yup he's finally gone.  I was just as surprised as you were.  I know all the shit he had been saying and whatnot but I didnt actually think he would leave.  But he has and he left a bit of a hole.  Don't get me wrong I like J-Bay, but he's no Manny up at the plate. He hustles down the line, makes good catches out in left andhas come up with a few big hits, but he's just not Manny.  I dont really know how to explain it.  Manny took a little bit of the character out of the team when he left.  Yeah he did his own thing and caused his fair share of problems, but he made things interesting that'sfor sure. Along with Manny, we lost Craig Hansen andalthough he did not live up to the hype he came up with, he was a decent relief pitcher.

So here's what it comes down to. The Twins need to tank.  Bottom line. Case closed.  If that happens, then nothing I just wrote will matter.  I have a strong feeling that the Rays will wrap up their season atop the divsion so that Wild Card spot needs to be ours, or it's gonna be a long winter.

In his 1st year at  NITK, maga went for a jive workshop.  No, he didn't have the balls to ask the girl, he was set up by another girl from his class. Now maga liked the workshop a lot, he learnt to jive. And then maga came to the room and told us how good he is at jive. So then we, his roomies, Vikram and me, were curios, so maga even gave us a demo. Vikram even offered to serve as partner. So here is the video of Maga doing the jive...

Funnily, people think how can maga be doing this? But i don't know why. He used to do these kinda things all the time at the room.
