The Slip will be available in an individually numbered 2 disc, 6 panel digipak & double gatefold vinyl.
The digi will be LIMITED to 250,000 pieces only, each individually numbered, and will include a DVD of NIN performing live tracks from The Slip at rehearsals, a 24-page booklet, and an exclusive sticker pack.

UPDATE: The same limited edition digipak will now be released everywhere - limited to 250,000 worldwide. This will be the only version of the digipak available.

The gatefold vinyl release contains 1 LP (180 gram vinyl) and a 24-page booklet (vinyl is not limited or numbered).

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) ist pensionierter Soldat und hat sich für den Ruhestand ein komfortables Haus an der Küste Frankreichs - in Nizza - ausgesucht. Er fährt einem BMW, den er hegt und pflegt und das aus einem plausiplen Grund: er ist ein Transporter. Als Fluchtwagenfahrer und Kurier heißer Ware verdient er jetzt sein Geld. Seine kleine "Firma" genießt hohes Ansehen, was darauf zurückzuführen ist, dass Frank äußerst präzise arbeitet. Er hat sich drei Regeln aufgestellt, die er im Beruf kompromisslos befolgt:
Regel Nr. 1: Der Deal wird nicht geändert.
Regel Nr. 2: Keine Namen.
Regel Nr. 3: Öffne niemals das Paket.

Das erste Mal bricht Frank eine Regel, die dritte, und findet in seinem Kofferraum die Chinesin Lai (Shu Qi). Nach ihrem Fluchtversuch liefert er das geöffnete Paket aus, doch seine Verfehlung bleibt nicht unbemerkt: als Strafe lässt derjenige, an den Lai "adressiert" war (Matt Schulze) Frank eine als weitere Lieferung getarnte Bombe transportieren. Durch Zufall explodiert diese als Frank sich gerade nicht im Wagen befindet und er fährt zurück, um sich zu rächen. Lai gelingt es sich zu befreien und in Franks Fluchtauto zu verstecken. Da ihr Vater illegale Einwanderer nach Frankreich schmuggeln lässt, fangen die Probleme für Frank erst richtig an, denn Lai bittet ihn um seine Hilfe. Zur Seite steht ihm außerdem ein Bekannter: Inspektot Tarconi (François Berléand)...
...

Multitalent Jason Statham liefert in seiner ersten Hauptrolle Action vom Feinsten und überzeugt in seiner One-Man-Show. Stunts und Fights sind teils innovativ (z.B. die Öl-Schlägerei auf dem Betriebshof). Trotz seiner relativ einfach gestrickten Story macht der Film immer wieder Spaß - nicht zuletzt wegen Franks grandioser Fights. Matt Schulze passt als geborener Böser (vgl. Out of Reach) gut in seine Rolle, Shu Qi ist hier zwar kein Glanzlicht, übermäßig schlecht spielt sie aber auch nicht.

Lus Bessons (Autor) The Transporter bietet Action und will auch gar nicht mehr. Anspruch gibt es keinen; nur wenn man Franks moralisch korrekte Annahme des Hilfegesuchs dazuzählt, was ich allerdings für überaus unwahrscheinlich einstufe ;) . Die Actionszenen sind dank Jason Statham ein echter Leckerbissen - Frauen dürfen sich also doppelt freuen: über die Action und den Mann :D .

Um mal eine Freundin zu zitieren: "Jason Statham is' ne geile Sau [...] und der Transporter is zu cool zum Scheißen". Das trifft es ziemlich gut (aber Kadda, ich hab' ihn zuerst gesehen... :D )

Als Actionschmankerl gehört der Film zu meinen Lieblingen, was genrebezogen ist. Alle, die auf solide Action - oder Jason Statham ;) - stehen, ist der Film also ein Muss. Der Rest sollte sich allerdings nicht die Möglichkeit verbauen, sich überzeugen zu lassen.

Für so viel Coolness:

The graphic art for the album is almost entirely complete. Rather than go with a traditional jewel case layout, the art will printed up on cardboard 4 panel digipacks (much like you see with Guided by Voices and early Cat Power releases). Nimbit offers really amazingly cheap short run digipack deals. I haven't seen any other cd duplication company come close to matching it.

All the Pirate Prude mp3s are available for download at http://www.ilike.com/artist/Pirate+Prude Help yourself and if you come across tracks that you know some of your friends will really dig, please pass them on. While most of the mp3s are live or demo versions, they give a decent, accurate indication of what is to come on the record.
