So after getting back from a well deserved… 5 day cruise, I decided to really hit this workout

So after getting back from a well deserved... 5 day cruise, I decided to really hit this workout thing hard. I've decided to use this week as a warm up/preperation week and to get started next Monday.

To begin, I need some help. I've heard many things about dietary supplements including protein shakes and amino acids but what brand is best... what package work great together... whats essential and whats not? Well that what I have this week for... to research. Im going to keep it simple at first and gradually work my way up seeing as it can get quite espensive to run a diet with such supplements.

I've hit the gym every once in a while before and have even gone on 1-3 month routines but I have failed to hold onto it long enough to get into the shape I'd like. All we can do hit it again as hard as possible and hope for the best.

So step one.... a diet, dietary supplements, and a workout routine. Some may say "whats next?" but there are several steps to getting in shape... sleeping habbits, eating schedules, workout changes, supplement increases/decreases, finding a workout partner... etc. Also, whats a good source to find fitness info...

So the researching begins...

Cognitive decline is probably something many of us fear as we age. New research suggests that S-adenosylmethionine may play a role in preventing age-related mental decline in both rat and dog models. Well, so far this is only good news for Fido as further studies in humans are necessary to confirm these results.

“These findings confirm that S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) can exert a direct effect on glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity. Since Alzheimer's disease is accompanied by reduced GST activity, diminished SAM and increased SAH, these findings underscore the critical role of SAM in maintenance of neuronal health” (Tchantchou et al, 2008).

“The aggregate mental impairment score was reduced by more than 50% in 41.2% and 15.8% of dogs treated with SAMe and placebo, respectively, at week 8. SAMe tosylate tablets proved safe and effective in improving signs of age-related mental decline in dogs” (Reme et al, 2008).

This afternoon, while listening to the Alex Jones radio show, I heard an interview with Major General Albert Stubblebine, former head of U.S. Military Intelligence and his associate Dr. Rima Laibow, MD, who are the founders of Health Freedom USA.

During this very informative interview, I had a thought - one I’d actually had before, but Dr. Laibow reminded me of it again - to search for information on chemicals that can cause swelling of the tissues of the upper airway. You see, I was diagnosed, in December 2004, with severe obstructive sleep apnea, a condition caused by the tissues of my upper airway blocking my airway - and thus, ceasing my breathing - during sleep. Incidentally, I noticed that this effect was reduced by my adopting of the paleolithic diet about seven or eight months ago. My theory, which I’ve corroborated with a doctor’s opinion, is that the fat loss I went through when I was in the early phases of the diet had probably shrunk the fatty laryngeal tissues of my upper airway, thus giving me at least some degree of relief from my sleep apnea.

Anyway, as I searched for chemicals that cause swelling or inflammation of these upper airway tissues, I came across some evidence that at least one chemical - sodium hydroxide - does, indeed cause such an effect. Furthermore, I found that sodium hydroxide has been approved by the FDA as a food additive and, further, that it is also approved for that purpose by Codex Alimentarius. Oh, and it’s also in your drinking water, supposedly to prevent the corrosion of iron and copper pipes, which is a strange thing, since the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for sodium hydroxide says it’s a harmful corrosive agent, itself.

What is Codex Alimentarius, you ask? Well, basically, it is part of the shadowy underworld of Eugenicists and depopulationists who want to kill you and me and 90% of humanity. But, it’s all for the “good cause” of saving the planet, of course.

Part of the Codex’s agenda includes outlawing all dietary supplements, a goal I have mixed feelings about, as I have personally researched and confirmed that most, if not all supplements contain harmful fillers and additives, some of which can be especially dangerous to people with diabetes.

But, getting back to the effects of just sodium hydroxide - never mind the some 699 other chemicals that have been found in our drinking water - I now have evidence that it may, at least in part, be responsible for the epidemic of obstructive sleep apnea that has suddenly burgeoned within the last decade or so. And who knows what else it may be responsible for?

If this topic interests you then search this blog for "codex alimentarius." Codex has been stripping away the public's right to buy supplements around the globe.

Full Story Here

What if, just for taking vitamin C, you could be thrown in jail for up to 2 years and fined up to $5,000,000?

That scenario could very well soon become a reality in Canada. The Canadian Government is trying to pass a bill known as Bill C51. According to some interpretations of the bill, it would remove all supplements from over-the-counter availability, by only allowing MD’s to prescribe them as they see fit.

This would mean that if you wanted to take a multivitamin, you would have to book an appointment with your doctor and try to convince your doctor that you are in need of these supplements. If your doctor decides a certain drug would be better for you, then you won't have access to your supplements anymore.

If you recognise that vibrant health means looking your best and reducing the risk of illness, you m

If you recognise that vibrant health means looking your best and reducing the risk of illness, you may need a CRASH COURSE on how to achieve optimal health and vitality. It needn't be complicated. In fact you could make a good start by taking just 4 simple steps to make it happen. Can you cope with that? Great! Here we go...

STEP 1 - DRINK WATER - How hard is that? Pure water is one of the simplest remedies you could offer your body because it improves your health, your fitness, and even how you look. See my earlier blog on this - 'Water is Life. So better read on...'. I'm happy to recommend the brilliant point-of-use kitchen counter system that I use. It converts ordinary tap water into great tasting quality water - just check our website for more information.

STEP 2 - OUT WITH THE TRASH - Sort out your nutrient intake by reducing fatty, sugary fast foods and eating more fresh and whole foods. Macro and micronutrients are the raw materials your body needs to give you abounding energy. Feed your body with the right stuff. Nutrients can work alone but each does depend on others to be most effective. Quality carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. You know what's good for you. Just do it!

STEP 3 - TAKE SUPPLEMENTS - Find a good brand of food supplements, made from organically grown food concentrates if at all possible. If you don't know where to look, do get in touch to find out about the brand we recommend. Although we may make every effort to eat a balanced diet, science shows that nowadays, despite the best possible efforts, we can’t always get everything our bodies need from food alone, unless it is completely balanced - no refined foods, no takeaway, no excess sugars. Unfortunately these days our food tends to be overly processed, hormone-pumped, artificially coloured, full of enhanced flavours, high in sugar and very low in fibre. So supplementing with the right vitamins and minerals is a key component of achieving optimal health.

STEP 4 - EXERCISE - groan!!!!!! But actually it makes you feel GOOD! Exercise and improved fitness will perk up your mood, combat chronic diseases, strengthen your heart and lungs, manage your weight, promote better sleep and even improve your sex life. So it's worth it. I go for walks and use a Billy Blank's Tae Bo video as it's easy (kind of), quick, I can do it whenever I can fit it in and I don't have to spend time and money going to the gym.

That's D for DRINK WATER

O for OUT WITH THE TRASH

T for TAKE SUPPLEMENTS

E for EXERCISE

DOTE - dote on yourself a bit and feel great this summer!

By studying the genes of a German child born with unusually well developed muscles, an international

By studying the genes of a German child born with unusually well developed muscles, an international research team has discovered the first evidence that the gene whose loss makes "mighty mice" also controls muscle growth in people.

Writing in the June 24 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, German neurologist Markus Schuelke, M.D., and the team show that the child's extra-large muscles are due to an inherited mutation that effectively silences the myostatin gene, proving that its protein normally keeps muscle development in check in people.

People with muscle-wasting conditions such as muscular dystrophy, and others just wanting to "bulk up," have eagerly followed work on myostatin, hoping for a way to counteract the protein's effects in order to build or rebuild muscle mass. But while research with mice has continued to reveal myostatin's role and the effects of interfering with it, no one knew whether any of the results would be relevant to humans.

"This is the first evidence that myostatin regulates muscle mass in people as it does in other animals," says Se-Jin Lee, M.D., Ph.D., professor of molecular biology and genetics in the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences at Johns Hopkins and co-author on the study. "That gives us a great deal of hope that agents already known to block myostatin activity in mice may be able to increase muscle mass in humans, too."

Lee and his team discovered in 1997 that knocking out the myostatin gene led to mice that were twice as muscular as their normal siblings, lending them the moniker "mighty mice." Later, others showed that naturally bulky cattle, such as Belgian Blues, got their extra muscles from lack of myostatin, too.

An unusual opportunity to examine myostatin's role in humans arose when Schuelke examined a newborn baby boy, almost five years ago, and was struck by the visible muscles on the infant's upper legs and upper arms. When ultrasound proved that the muscles were roughly twice as large as other infants', but otherwise normal, Schuelke realized that a naturally occurring mutation in the child's myostatin gene might be the cause.

Sequencing the myostatin gene from the boy and his mother, who had been a professional athlete, revealed a single change in the building blocks of the gene's DNA. Surprisingly, the change was not in the gene regions that correspond to the resulting protein, but in the intervening regions that are used only to create protein-making instructions, thus changing the gene's protein-building message.

"The mutation caused the gene's message, the messenger RNA, to be wrong," says Hopkins

neurologist Kathryn Wagner, M.D., Ph.D., who tested the genetic mutation's effect in laboratory studies. "If the message had been used to make a protein, it would be much shorter than it should be. But we think the process doesn't even get that far; instead the cells just destroy the message."

Co-authors from Wyeth Research, Cambridge, Mass., analyzed samples of the child's blood for evidence of the myostatin protein and found none. "Both copies of the child's myostatin gene have this mutation, so little if any of the myostatin protein is made," says Schuelke. "As a result, he has about twice the muscle mass of other children."

Completely lacking myostatin, the boy is stronger than other children his age, and fortunately has no signs of problems with his heart so far, Schuelke says. But he adds that it's impossible to know whether the lack of myostatin in that crucial muscle might lead to problems as the boy gets older.

While other family members -- the boy's mother and her brother, father and grandfather -- were also reported to have been usually strong, only the mother's DNA was available for analysis along with her son's. Schuelke discovered that only one copy of the mother's myostatin gene had the mutation found in both copies of her son's myostatin gene. (We have two copies of each gene; one inherited from the mother and one inherited from the father.)

Like every organ in your body, our skin requires adequate nutrition to function properly. Nutrients

Like every organ in your body, our skin requires adequate nutrition to function properly. Nutrients that enhance overall body health will also promote healthy skin and hair. It needs pharmaceutical-grade supplements that provide advanced levels of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and cofactors in convenient morning and evening packets for a difference you will see and feel. The skin contains natural enzymes that break down the extracellular matrix--proteins that keep skin looking youthful--leading to lines and wrinkles. And, these enzymes, or MMPs, become more active as skin ages. MMP inhibitors that reduce the activity of these enzymes help slow the signs of aging. A new scientific breakthrough increases cell turnover rate and maintains a firm and elastic intercellular matrix for visible results you will see right away. The skin reflects the state of the body's health and looks its best when all cells in the skin's layers are properly nourished and hydrated. The skin is the last organ to receive nutrients from the body, and the first to show signs of nutritional deficiency, imbalance, or illness. While some nutrients can be applied topically, others can only be produced from within the body. Therefore, the secrets to becoming more beautiful comes from a synergy of internal and external nutrition, as well as protection from environmental toxins and oxidation damage, which can accelerate sagging and wrinkling. To achieve this synergy of internal and external nutrition and a protection from environmental toxins and oxidation damage, you need to develop a beauty regimen that is designed to be a comprehensive approach to skin and hair care that takes into account the nutritional needs of both the skin and body. You would need to use outer nutrients that hydrate and reduce the signs of aging. This regimen is most effective when used in conjunction with pharmaceutical-grade supplements that help to replenish and nourish the skin cells from the inside out.To achieve a results-oriented, morning and evening regimen designed to leave skin clean, hydrated, and healthy, begin with a deep cleanse followed by a soothing toning treatment that will leave your skin refreshed. Follow with an application of one of our powerful refining treatments to help diminish the appearance of uneven skin tone, imperfections, and signs of aging. Finish with a deeply hydrating moisturizer for your face and eye area to achieve a soft, smooth appearance. Two to three times a week, enhance the benefits of this simple skin-care regimen by exfoliating your skin with a gentle polishing scrub, followed by a luxurious, pampering masque that will leave your skin incredibly hydrated and radiant. When used together as a system, products are clinically proven to increase elasticity, decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve texture, and boost skin's moisture levels. In just a few short weeks you could experience dramatically visible results.Because of the close link between nutrition and the appearance of the skin, dietary supplements are also an important step in your daily inner and outer beauty regimen. Skin is the body's largest organ and it can absorb healthy and unhealthy substances that are applied to it. Pharmaceutical-grade products focus primarily on the cellular health of the skin and use the newest technologies available to create products that are both effective and safe. Pharmaceutical-grade complexes should be thoroughly tested by dermatologists, allergists, and ophthalmologists to ensure quality and safety. To ensure safety and quality, an independent, third-party laboratory should test them again to demonstrate effectiveness. Along with added trace minerals that encourage healthy cells, pharmaceutical-grade products should contain powerful ingredients that are clinically proven to nourish, revive, and refine the skin as they help defend against free radicals and oxidative stress. Now the science of skin care has been revolutionized with groundbreaking, self-preserving technology. For years, scientists have worked to find an alternative to parabens, the traditional preservative used in beauty and skin-care products. After nearly ten years of research, the answer has been found in a unique, patent-pending blend of botanicals, antioxidants, and active ingredients that keep every product fresh without the need for parabens. It truly is the next generation of skin and body care.--PERMISSION TO REPUBLISH: This article may be republished in newsletters and on web sites provided attribution is provided to the author, and it appears with the included copyright, resource box and live web site link.
The skeletal muscle component known as creatine is not only available as creatine supplement. Several other sources besides creatine supplement can benefit us with the effects of creatine. Firstly, creatine is produced naturally in the body through amino acid action, which occurs when food is processed.Glycine, arginine and methionine acids work in combination within the liver and kidneys to produce creatine. If natural creatine levels need to be elevated for any reason it is possible to do so by taking a creatine supplement. Our food intake is another way to enjoy the full effects of creatine. Fish, meat and poultry all contain creatine. When combining creatine supplement with the correct nutrition and exercise, the full muscle enhancing effects of creatine supplement can be seen. An intake of creatine supplement has been shown to increase the available muscle energy. Body cells store energy in a molecular form called Adenosine TriPhosphate, or ATP.A creatine supplement aids these ATP activities. The amount of work achieved by the muscles is in direct relation to the amount of ATP available in storage. Taking a creatine supplement ensures smooth muscular function. By decreasing the regeneration time of ATP, creatine supplement can help sustain the force generated during an intense work out. Energy levels quickly rise when ATP is restored by creatine supplement. Readily available energy is released on demand by creatine supplement for extreme physical exertions. The effects of creatine supplement are then felt as stamina is increased. Athletes working with weight lifting and sprint training benefit from creatine supplement due to this energy availability.Greater physical endurance and increased peak power strength are the result of creatine supplement. Because creatine supplement creates a cellular environment conducive to improved muscle growth the effects of creatine are increased performance ability. Muscles are filled and hardened by creatine supplement and they stay pumped for longer, proving the effects of creatine. The enhanced athletic performance, which occurs when taking creatine supplement therefore leads to greater, muscle mass and strength. The ability of creatine supplement to promote amino acid uptake and stimulate protein synthesis increases muscle strength and size. Strong muscle growth is enhanced and maintained through creatine supplements. Taking a creatine supplement can improve all physical abilities immensely. The effects of creatine supplement are available to any athlete needing short bursts of intense energy. Because the capacity to train harder is increased by creatine supplement, the exhaustion point takes longer to reach.A phosphocreatine depletion in type II muscle fiber can cause fatigue, which creatine supplement remedies by replenishing phosphocreatine. These effects of creatine means minimal exhaustion and an improved performance. Research on the effects of creatine suggests that creatine supplement may have a variety of other uses. Currently creatine supplement is being studied in relation to the neuromuscular system. The positive effects of creatine supplement may be found to have therapeutic applications in the field of brain pathology. The regenerating abilities of creatine supplement could soon be utilized when treating muscular atrophy and other wasting syndromes. The ability and effects of creatine to protect the brain from neurological injury has been well documented. Components in creatine supplement help shield the human brain against neurotoxic agents and injury.Copyright 2005 Health-Focus Providing Resources on Health and Nutrition Creatine supplements

Why Liquid Vitamins?

Liquid vitamins are best. Why? Well, for one thing, they are absorbed up to

Why Liquid Vitamins?

Liquid vitamins are best. Why? Well, for one thing, they are absorbed up to 10X more than enduring vitamins. Solid vitamins must be broken down into their component parts and then absorbed. Liquid Vitamins are now in solution, so they are more usable for the body.

Another basis to use liquid vitamins is convenience. Liquid vitamins are easier to take than solid vitamins. Anyone who has looked at and consequently choked down a handful of pills can testify to that fact.

Another bonus to liquid vitamins is that you can add them to water or juice and sip them throughout the day. This keeps on ongoing issue of vitamins entering your system. This is much higher than overwhelming the system with more nutrition this it can effectively solve at one time and at that time denying it any greater number of nutrition for the rest of the day. Think of an hourglass…only so much goes through at one time. Similarly your person can only use so that much at one time.

A final additonally is cost. To get enough in solid vitamins, you need to buy a bottle of this, of that, and then the other. With liquid vitamins, you have one bottle and if it is the right bottle, you might not need much more except maybe a good oil or particular protein.

Simplicity is another key. If you take multiple bottles of such and that, you have to think about what you have taken and open and finishing a number of bottles. This is a real nuisance as anyone who has had to do very much of it can testify.

Liquid vitamins…it is the only way to go. That’s why I recommend gbg multi liquid vitamin it is truly the most powerful multi liquid vitamin you will find in the market today.

I gaurantee if you try it you will certainly see why, it’s rated #1

CODEX is a provision of CAFTA that is being enabled through the US FDA. CODEX would make all health supplements available only through big pharma and your doctor. Your right to alternative methods of maintaining your good health or the benefits of non-pharma supplements will be lost. Already the FDA here in the States is enacting self designed rules and regulations that they openly admit are designed to run small producers of supplements and health aids out of business. If this passes in Canada.....it will pass here next.

In a "Division Party Vote" your individual MPs do not read the Bill and/or even have to be in attendance. This is a travesty of the Rule of British Common Law and our Democratic Constitutional processes and should be stopped for all Bills. Bill C-52 was sneaked into committee using this same technique and the Conservative Party to keep their "FREEDOM OF CHOICE" promises MUST cancel Bills:

C-51, C-52 and the Drug Class Natural Health Products Regulations now.

The Canadian Coalition for Health Freedom and supporters, as you may recall has since 1997 have submitted to Parliament over 500,000 signed petitions which generally state as follows:

We, the undersigned residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House to the following:

1.       THAT Canadians deserve to have an updated Food & Drugs Act, created by Parliament today, that is consistent with Canadians' inherent rights of informed freedom of choice, and access to non-drug medicinal products of their own choosing, as protected by Sections 1, 2, 7, and 15 of the Charter of Rights;

2.       THAT healthy medicinal foods, herbs, spices, dietary supplements, and other natural health and nutritional products should be properly classified as foods, and not arbitrarily regulated, and otherwise restricted, as drugs by Health Canada officials without a clear modern day legislated authority;

3. THAT the weight of modern scientific evidence confirms the mitigation, and prevention of many diseases, and disorders through the judicious use of low risk, medicinal foods, herbs, spices, dietary supplements, and other natural health and nutritional products, as well as their extremely low levels of risk compared to many synthetic pharmaceutical drugs, and other modern medical procedures.

4. THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon Parliament to provide Canadians with greater access to non-drug, preventive and medicinal options, as well as the information about these options, and to sanction the personal choices of Canadians, by clarifying the currently vague definitions of "food", and "drug" in the outdated 1927 / 1952 Food & Drugs Act, and by repealing the outdated prohibitions against making truthful health claims for the prevention, treatment, and cure of health challenges with non-drug approaches, by enacting Bill C -420, an act to amend the Food & Drugs Act.

More than 70% of Canadians now depend on natural products to maintain or enhance their health because they offer a safer and more effective alternative to high-risk pharmaceutical drugs. In BIG PHARMA's effort to eradicate their competition for a monopoly, Bills C-51, C-52 and the Drug Class Natural Health Products Regulations will "criminalize" Natural Health Products including vitamins, minerals, herbs, greens drinks, carrot juice and many "Therapeutic" and "Healthy Foods".

It is very important for you to actively participate now in order to help our Coalition and its supporters to stop not only the "Division" second reading of Bill C-51, but also to force immediate cancellation of Bill C-52 and the drug class Natural Health Product Regulations that has attempted to make your greens drinks, herbs, vitamins, minerals, carrot juice, etc. into "NEW DRUGS"!

Our Canadian Coalition for Health Freedom believes in the British Rule of Common Law, the Written and Unwritten Constitution and Canadian Democracy, where to quote Thomas Jefferson;

"The care of human life and not its destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

Most Canadians believe that the "CROWN" is ultimately a trust and that the beneficial ultimate owner / shareholder of the "CROWN" and its assets should be and is the ordinary men and women of our society.

If you look up "Implied Bill of Rights" and " Rule of Law" you will understand where our supporters are coming from on these issues.

Are you ashamed of your weight? Do you have a goal weight that you want to reach through weight loss? I’d say so, it’s been pushed into our brains many times over and over again that “weight loss” is what we want to accomplish. There are weight loss guides, weight loss supplements, and many other things that push “weight loss”. Many people even set their goals to be at a certain weight. Additionally, the medical community has developed an “ideal weight” chart, which can further add to the confusion about weight loss. Now, let me ask you a question. Is your goal really weight loss? Unless you are trying to make a weight class for wrestling or some other sport with weight classes, you may think that your goal is weight loss, but it really isn’t. You are trying to lose that flubbery stuff attached to your body called FAT. Correct? So then, why do we measure our progress by how much we weigh? Why do we step on the bathroom scale and hope that those numbers will be lower than before? You see, our weight is affected by more than just how much fat is on our body. Some other factors include water, muscle, glycogen, and obviously if we have eaten anything earlier or used the bathroom lately. Our water weight fluctuates constantly. For instance, when we exhale water vapor comes out. When we sweat, we are sweating out water. There are also many more factors that can affect the amount of water in our body. Water is what usually causes those random gains or losses of a pound or two in weight that can make you happy or sad. It is almost physiologically impossible to lose a pound of fat in one day.One reason the low-carb or no-carb (also called ketogenic) diets are so attractive is because of the large initial loss of weight. However, this weight is not necessarily fat. When carbohydrates are restricted the body has a backup store of them located in the liver and muscles in the form of something called glycogen. The human body can store approximately 400 grams of glycogen. In larger individuals this number can increase. In addition to this, for each gram of glycogen stored in the human body, 3 grams of water are also stored. If you figure it out, this would equate to about 1600 grams (3.5 pounds) of glycogen and water. When you stop or limit your consumption of carbohydrates, your body starts using its glycogen stores. After a couple of days that 1600 grams (3.5 pounds) of glycogen and water are gone. Also, as an adaptation to the restriction of carbohydrates, your body produces these things called ketones. Ketones also appear to have a diuretic effect, which would mean an even greater loss of water. In addition to water, if you have been working out lately to speed along your “weight loss” (you mean fat loss, right?) progress you probably have gained some muscle doing so. This gain in muscle can also affect the numbers you see on the scale. Muscle is also more dense than fat.You may be wondering how you are going to measure your progress now that the scale doesn’t mean as much as it used to.

Well, there are several methods to measure your body fat percentage. None of these methods are 100% accurate, but they will be much more useful than the use of a scale. One of the simplest ways is to use a caliper. You can usually find these at your local sporting goods/fitness shop. If you can’t find them locally, you can order them off the internet. Calipers measure the thickness of a skin fold on your triceps. Then there are directions that come with the caliper that show you how to use the number you get to derive your body fat %.If you don’t want to go out and buy some calipers, there is a body fat % calculator on my website. The calculator uses the circumference of several parts of your body and then plugs them into a formula developed by the U.S. Navy to derive an approximation of your body fat %.You can find this calculator here: http://www.weight-loss-resources.com/calculators/bodyfat.htmlThere are also much more accurate ways to measure your body fat % like buoyancy testing or the use of special lasers. If you insist on knowing your progress by weight loss and want to use a scale, try to weigh yourself at the same time everyday. Probably the best time would be right when you wake up in the morning and before you do anything. So, your new goal should be to shoot for fat loss and not weight loss. Don’t necessarily trust the scale all the time as it can be deceiving - your weight is affected by more than just how much fat you have gained or lost. In addition, it is almost physiologically impossible to gain or lose a pound of fat in one day.Nathan Latvaitis runs a website at http://www.weight-loss-resources.com where you can find even more fitness/weight loss articles, product reviews, book reviews, calculators, a message board, and more.

Iron is a mineral that is essential to the health and functioning of the body. Deficiencies in iron

Iron is a mineral that is essential to the health and functioning of the body. Deficiencies in iron can have serious consequences for overall health and even energy levels. While iron is important for both sexes, it is of particular importance to women due to biological and reproductive factors. However, world wide, many people do not meet the minimum suggested daily intake of iron resulting in a variety of health problems that range from the mild, which simply increasing the daily iron intake could remedy, to the severe, which often require more complex treatments but could easily have been avoided by sufficient daily iron consumption.Iron serves several purposes within the body. One of the most important functions of iron in the system is its role is oxygenating the blood. Another essential role of iron is energy metabolism. It is a factor of the neurodevelopment of babies as they grow and develop in the uterus. Iron also serves to promote the important functioning of the body’s immune system particularly in the production of the white blood cells essential in fighting infection and disease. Iron is also essential in properly utilizing the B vitamins.Women, because of their role in reproduction, need to be especially sure that their iron levels are sufficient especially during pregnancy as the healthy growth and development of their babies depends on it. Because of blood loss during menstruation, most women need to take a little extra precaution during that time period to make sure their iron levels stay at recommended levels.Iron deficiencies can cause a variety of health problems. Anemia is by far the most common and it results in weakness, fatigue and, to the detriment especially of school children, an inability to concentrate properly. Oxygen is one of the most important life giving forces of the body and due to the essential role of iron in seeing to it that oxygen reaches all parts of the body, via the blood, general feelings of health and well-being rely on proper iron levels.Dietary supplements that include iron, as well as iron enriched foods, play an important role world wide in achieving the recommended daily iron requirements of the human body. However, like any other dietary supplement or medicine, iron supplements must be used properly to be effective and to avoid inducing other serious health problems. Always remember also to couple your iron supplement drinking with ascorbic acid or vitamin C. This is to help the body absorb the iron more quickly. An overdose of iron in small children can be fatal. Always keep iron supplements and vitamins that contain iron well out of the reach of children. A reminder for parents who wisely make use of a daily multivitamin and iron supplement for their children: if you are using those brightly colored, cartoon character types, always be sure to remind your children that those are powerful medicines and not merely candy. That way if the bottle is accidentally left down and the child does find it, they are less likely to overdose themselves with it and more likely to call it to your attention that you left it in their reach.Iron is an essential nutrient for some of the body’s very important functions and processes. For many years, dietary supplements have been a safe and trusted means of making sure to meet the recommended daily iron intake levels. When used properly, iron supplements are a good choice for helping to keep the body strong and healthy.Note: This article may be freely reproduced as long as the AUTHOR'S resource box at the bottom of this article is included and and all links must be Active/Linkable with no syntax changes.Charlene J.

Diet is a double edged sword. Improper diet increases the risk of cancer but a proper, well balance

Diet is a double edged sword. Improper diet increases the risk of cancer but a proper, well balanced diet reduces the cancer risk. Diet is one of the most important lifestyle factors and has been estimated to account for up to 80% of cancers of the large bowel, breast, and prostate. Diet affects the risk of many other cancers, including cancers of the lung, prostate, stomach, esophagus and pancreas. Prostate Cancer:High consumption of meat, especially red meat, substantially increases the risk of prostate cancer. Vegetables, especially cooked tomatoes, reduce the risk of prostate cancer. In one clinical trial, the role of Vitamin E as a prostate cancer reducing factor was established. In this study there was a 32% decrease in prostate cancer incidence and 41% decrease in prostate cancer mortality in people receiving Vitamin E supplements when compared to controls.

Breast Cancer:In Japan, people consume Tofu, a soya product. It contains isoflavones that moderate the estrogen receptors in the body such as breast tissue. The incidence of breast cancer is low in Japan when compared to Western women; only 1/4th of the mortality rate of Western women. Japanese women's low fat diet, high fish consumption and drinking green tea also decrease their breast cancer risk. One case control study found that regular consumption of soy foods was associated with a marked decrease in breast cancer risk in premenopausal women. No effect in post-menopausal women. A Japanese case-control study also found that tofu intake (3 times/wk compared with less than 3 times/wk) was associated with decreased risk of breast cancer in premenopausal women. Again, soy intake was not protective against post-menopausal breast cancer. In one study conducted in America, the relation between soy intake and breast cancer risk found that tofu consumption was protective in both premenopausal and post menopausal Asian women.Lung Cancer:Lung cancer risk is substantially decreased by a variety of carotenoids. Carotenoids act as antioxidants and thus minimize cell damage. One study in Boston focused on the effect of different types of carotenoids on lung cancer risk. It was observed that lung cancer risk was significantly lower in subjects who consumed a diet high in a variety of carotenoids. This was especially true with non-smokers who had 63% less risk.

One study conducted in Hawaii reported further evidence for a protective effect from certain carotenoids against lung cancer and that greater protection was afforded by consuming a variety of vegetables compared to only foods rich in a particular carotenoid. Stomach Cancer:Nitrates in food and other preservatives added to food including meat are converted into 'nitrites' in the human stomach. The nitrites undergo nitrosation to form 'nitrosamines' and 'nitrosamides'. This increases the risk of stomach cancer in people eating vegetables from nitrate rich soil. In one study, Vitamin C appeared to protect against the risk of stomach cancer by inhibiting formation of nitrates in stomach. Cancer of the stomach is 5 times more common in Japanese people compared to Western populations. When Japanese people migrated to the United States, they progressively acquired the low incidence of the US due to changes in their diets. In one study conducted in Hawaii that involved both Japanese and Caucasians, the stomach cancer risk was associated with consumption of rice, pickled vegetables, and dried/salted fish, and a negative association with vitamin C intake. One ecological study in Belgium showed a relation between the nitrate and salt consumption and stomach cancer. The analysis of this model showed that the significance of nitrate as a risk factor for stomach cancer mortality increased markedly with higher sodium levels. Dietary habits and stomach cancer risk was studied in Shanghai, China.

According to this study, risks of stomach cancer were inversely associated with high consumption of several food groups, including fresh vegetables and fruits, poultry, eggs, plant oil, and some nutrients such as protein, fat, fiber, tea and antioxidant vitamins. By contrast, risks increased with increasing consumption of dietary carbohydrates, frequent consumption of preserved, salty or fried foods and hot soup/porridge, with irregular meals, speed eating and binge eating. This provides evidence that diet plays a major role in stomach cancer risk. No single food can completely prevent cancer but a balanced combination of different groups can help. Appropriate diet can prevent 3-4 million cancers each year. Cancer is One of the Main Causes of Death Among Humans.

Have studies been performed on the health benefits of green tea and, if so, what are those benefits?

During the past 40 years thousands of studies on green tea have been conducted around the world. This research has demonstrated that the "wonder substance, EGCG, the antioxidant only found in green tea" could:

Enhance the immune system’s function(s) by guarding against oxidants and free radicals that weaken the body's natural defense system.

Prevent normal cells from turning cancerous.

Suppress the formation and growth of tumors.

Help regulate cholesterol levels.

Lower the risk of stroke by making blood platelets less "sticky".

Help control blood pressure.

Help control blood sugar levels.

Assist in weight loss.

Ward off viruses, fungi, and food-borne bacteria.

Fight bacteria in the mouth that cause cavities and bad breath.

Slow the aging process.

And more….

What is the difference between GreenTeaHP and regular green tea?

The advantages of GreenTeaHP are:

GreenTeaHP is the only green tea made from fresh, not dried, green tea leaves. It uses a patented water extraction process, which provides all the health benefits of green tea. These benefits include polyphenols (flavonoids), vitamins, amino acids, minerals, fibers, and more.

The proprietary extraction process—no chemicals, alcohol or organic solvents used. Each pixie serving provides 1000 mg of green tea extract.

Great natural fresh taste and color—no artificial colors or preservatives.

Sugar-free and low calorie.

100% of the daily value of Vitamin C in each serving.

Instant green tea powder tastes great, cold or hot, —just add water. We prefer cold.

Most importantly, GreenTeaHP tastes great! Are there any other ingredients in GreenTeaHP?Instant Beverage: Green Tea Extract (Camellia Sinensis), Noni Juice, Açaí, Resveratrol, Pomegranate Extract, L-Theanine, Bioperine, Orange Fruit Powder, Cherry Powder, Mango Powder, Lemon Powder, Peach Powder, Pineapple Powder, Strawberry Powder, Fructose, Citric Acid, Beet Root Powder, Matcha, Natural and Artificial Fruit Flavors, Xylitol, Malic Acid, Lecithin, Ascorbic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Beta Carotene, Tumeric Powder, Roboflavin-5-Phosphate, Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin, Ace K, Silicon Dioxide, & Sucralose.

How do I use the instant GreenTeaHP pixie?

Open an individually sealed instant pixie and mix it with hot or cold water, – we prefer cold! Some customers like to mix it with 12 ounces of water, and some with 16 ounces. Drink one with breakfast and one with lunch. Yes, you can drink more servings throughout the day. Feel free to mix flavors!

Why Green Tea?

Why choose green tea

For thousands of years, Asians have claimed that drinking green tea is good for your health, both mentally and physically. Only recently has science been able to investigate these claims by isolating components of green tea, and testing them in laboratory experiments.

Curiosity about the effects of green tea on human health was first aroused in the 1970s. Epidemiologists noticed that people living in the Shizouka Prefecture, an area in central Japan where green tea is grown and consumed in great quantities, had a much lower rate of death from stomach cancer, which was and still is the most prevalent form of cancer in Japan.

As scientists began to study the Shizouka Prefecture residents, they were surprised to discover that, not only did they die less often of stomach cancer, their death rates from all types of cancers were significantly lower.

Curious and excited, the scientists conducted exhaustive studies of the population. The only major difference they could find was the people who lived in the Prefecture drank significantly more green tea than people living in areas with higher rates of cancer.

Everybody drinks green tea in Japan. But they really drink increasingly greater amounts of green tea in the Shizouka Prefecture, since acres and acres of tea grow right there, practically in their backyard(s). This easy accessibility makes for almost continual sipping throughout the day. The water is always boiling, and just-picked green tea leaves are often added to the teapot to refresh the brew.

When studying black tea drinkers throughout the world, scientists didn't see the same dramatic cancer-protective effects as they found in Shizouka. “But why not,?” they wondered. What did green tea contain that black tea did not? The answer was clear -- more catechins, or EGCG, the antioxidant that is exclusive to green tea. Catechins make up as much as 30% of the dry weight of green tea leaves, but only 3-10% of black tea. So the scientists went back to their laboratories determined to prove (or disprove) the theory that the catechins in green tea were the miracle substance that could help prevent cancer.

In order to use the green tea leaf with maximum efficiency in tests, researchers used a scientific process to extract the catechins (antioxidants) and condense them to a powdered form. This extract could then be mixed with food or drinking water. Since the catechins, or antioxidants, were first isolated and tested, thousands of studies of their physiological effects have been conducted. The results have been nothing short of astounding. It was shown that green tea protects against many of the most dangerous and deadly diseases plaguing humankind today. And no matter how much green tea you drink, there are literally no side effects.

The Science Behind Green Tea

Green tea has been brewed and consumed for thousands of years as a professed “aid to many health ailments.” Even though the health benefits of green tea have become more commonly known throughout the world, the consumption of green tea has not caught on due to a variety of reasons – taste, lack of supply, access, differing cultural norms, other options, etc.. However, GreenTeaHP is quickly overcoming those barriers. It tastes great, is convenient, and very accessible. More importantly, its healthy ingredients are supported by verifiable science and research.

GreenTeaHP contains the right amount of EGCG, the antioxidant that is specific to green tea. It has been researched in thousands of clinical trials and studies throughout the last fifty years. This powerful antioxidant assists in neutralizing free radicals that produce harmful effects in your body. Free radicals are associated with aging, cancer, Parkinson’s disease; alcohol induced liver damage, smoking related illnesses, etc. Studies show that EGCG can play a key role in defending the health risks associated with free radicals, and in repairing damage that creates the most common illnesses that plague the general population.
