Profil

Navn: Dickson Etuhu

Nationalitet: Nigeriansk

Født: 8. Juni, 1982 i Kano, Nigeria

Position: Defensiv Midtbane, Central Midtbane

Tidligere Klubber:

Rangers are considering a move to sign Sunderland's Nigerian international midfielder Dickson Etuhu.

Etuhu, 26, joined the English Premier League club from Norwich City in July 2007 for £1.5m and made 20 appearances for Roy Keane's side last season.

The dynamic box-to-box player won the first of his five international caps for Nigeria at this year's African Cup of Nations tournament.

Etuhu was born in the northern Nigerian city of Kano but grew up in London.

He began his career at Manchester City but started just 11 league games before signing for Preston in 2002 for £300,000.

He played nearly 150 games for North End before joining Norwich after a loan spell at Carrow Road.

Does anyone know if we had a sell-on clause for old Dickson? I can't remember...

I quite enjoyed making the old predictions for the FA Cup matches and anyone that's known me for a few years will know that I used to run an online Prediction League until it actually started costing me money (which was not the plan I can assure you), so I've decided to make a few predictions before each game and just do a general match preview.

This week Preston make the long journey to Carra Rud hoping to continue the form that has seen them only lost once in 2008.

On Tuesday night West Brom went down 2-1 at Deepdale in a game that saw Chris Brown sent off for two bookable offences, meaning the former Carrow Road and YouTube favourite misses out on a return to his former club.

Preston boss Alan Irvine wasn't quite as busy as Glenn Roeder during the window, but still found time to spend around a £1m on the permanent signings of Brown, Michael Hart from Aberdeen and Oldham defender Neal Trotman.

A few facts...

League Position: Norwich 16th, Preston 22nd.

Last Meeting: 11th August 2007 - Preston 0 Norwich 0.

Last Meeting at Carrow Road: 8th August 2006 - Norwich 2 Preston 0.

Top Goalscorer: Norwich - Cureton (8), Preston - Whaley (5).

Recently Played for Both Clubs: Chris Brown, Jason Jarrett, Dickson Etuhu.

Fascinating Fact: According to Preston's official site, Deepdale Duck will be making his first away day appearance of the season. Norwich are the first club to accept him this season.

My Prediction: Preston will be riding high on the back of good wins against West Brom in the league and Derby away in the FA Cup. I think the Canaries will have too much for them. 2-0 City.

Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has been charged with assault. Again.

This is the same Joey Barton who, at the 2004 Manchester City Christmas party, stubbed out a lit cigar in team-mate Jamie Tandy’s eye.

The same Joey Barton who in the summer of 2005 was sent home from Manchester City’s tour of Thailand for allegedly assaulting a 15 year old Everton fan who had provoked him by verbally abusing him and kicking his shin.

The same Joey Barton who bared his backside to Everton fans after an injury time equaliser in a game at Goodison Park in September 2006.

The same Joey Barton who, when called into the England squad for the first time in February 2007, publicly criticised members of the squad who had released books following the 2006 World Cup with the priceless quote:

"England did nothing in that World Cup, so why were they bringing books out? 'We got beat in the quarter-finals. I played like sh*t. Here's my book.' Who wants to read that?"

The same Joey Barton who in May 2007 was suspended by City for allegedly assaulting team-mate Ousmane Dabo, causing injuries including a detached retina (that one was bailed until the summer by the way).

The same Joey Barton who did this to Dickson Etuhu in the Tyne/Wear derby.

The same Joey Barton who, at the start of December declared the Newcastle fans "vicious", and questioned their support.

So to those footballers who feel they need more protection from "dangerous" supporters, I have an idea. Just employ Barton as a bodyguard. I've got a feeling he's going to have a fair amount of spare time on his hands in the not-too distant future.
