Joe so: "SHREDDEN!"

Ich so: "Wow! Woher wusstest du, was ich sagen wollte?"

Man muss blablabla machen!

Ben Stein has a book called How to Ruin Your Finances. To be honest, I’m not sure an entire book is needed on the subject—there are some fairly quick and easy ways to accomplish the task. (Before continuing, let me be clear that I do not actually recommend such activities—This is a reductio absurdum argument, meant to spur an opposing realization.)

#1: Buy everything, yes, everything

You never know when a neighbor may come over to use your dish towels, so make sure they are Ralph Lauren, less than six months old, and all the same color. While you’re at it, buy things that you don’t need now, but may need in the future, such as eleven new sweaters, a top-of-the-line treadmill, and some bestselling novels (just in case you ever read the 38 already on your bookshelf).

#2: Charge all purchases

That way you can itemize all your spending, which is sort of like budgeting. When the bill comes each month, be consistent—pay only the minimum. If there’s anything left at the end of the month, see #1.

#3: Don’t be concerned about retirement

That’s what Social Security is for! Our country is run by intelligent economists, and they’ll make certain there’s enough for you in 25 years.

#4: Buy a $4 million home, with 1% down, and a 30-year mortgage

Then, spend your entire working life paying it off. Don’t worry if you haven’t invested in anything else—you can sell the home when you reach 65, rapidly adjust your lifestyle to match your new one-bedroom condo, and live off the difference.

#5: Start being frugal ‘tomorrow’

Please, finish your $7 mocha latte and go about your day. After all, this article was obviously written for the other guy!

Friday morning, we set off bright and early to take Ditto Boy to his Y summer day camp, and when we get to the end of the street, we see this:

This is his school. Or...was. He'll be in fifth grade in the fall. The fifth-grade rooms are that front pile of rubble on the left.

I was shocked. I'd complained bitterly over the past week as they'd taken down all the 100-year old trees that sat along the front and sides of the school yard, but I assumed that perhaps the roots were getting into the sewers, or the branches in the lines. (I never like to see trees cut down, particularly that old, unless they're damaged.) But this?

Fortunately I was dealing with Ditto Boy. He hardly noticed, his attention flitting from object to object like a starving butterfly. The other two don't go to this school; they're bused to the school with autistic support.

But coming home from camp, Little Miss takes one look and yells, "They're destroying W's school!" (Yes, she used the word 'destroying.' I didn't even think she knew it, considering she doesn't talk half the time. Weird. But hilarious.)

Captain Oblivious then started on a diatribe about why they must be doing it that no one paid attention to after the first couple sentences. We were still overwhelmed by the debris.

I was just really grateful that neither of my kiddos who can't deal with change attend that school. It would have been the subject of obsession the rest of the summer, even through the new construction that I'm sure is a planned follow-up to the disaster.

Change is just not something we do. Even the impending two weeks with the Cabana Boy's mother is already a source of stress for Captain O, not because of the visit, but because his grandmother will not let him watch Lost in Space on Thursday nights as we do here. Last summer when they went, she was pretty stirred up when he wouldn't go to sleep at night because he obsessed about not being able to watch television in the morning (which she doesn't do--they're not big on television there, even less so than we are. But if it gets me 20 min more sleep in the morning, I'm all for Spiderman.)

This, of course, gives me some concerns for the upcoming switch to middle school, as well. So far he's seemed to be pretty low-key about it. The sixth-graders all had a tour of the middle school, saw the 7th and 8th grade classrooms, lockers, etc. The autism support teacher invited us to come the week before school and stay as long as we like, getting familiar with the schedules, the lockers, the changing classes--just the sheer numbers are going to throw him, I'm afraid. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

At least his school is still there. So far.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The new Feature....

I have decided that simply a wallpaper a day is not enough to justify a blog, especially since I already have all the wallpapers arranged in the order in which they shall be posted. Therefore, I shall, on Friday of each week, make a list of several good Windows applications that A.came out this week OR B.I just discovered. So, without further delay, I present the first of many

APPS OF THE WEEK

Actually, that title sucks....

Give me some suggestions, people!

Until I figure out how to write a poll in Java by myself, you can suggest names HERE.

This poll will be closed in 2 Weeks...so vote NOW!

I'll have a new poll open after that for 1 week with the 5 names I liked the most.

The password is bobwama...all lowercase.

Anyways, here's this week's!

1.CCleaner 2.09.600

2.Opera 9.51 RC1

Firefox is better, but it's always good to have a backup in case FF crashes

3.AVG Free Edition 8.0.101

4.Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 Beta 2

That's all, folks!

So this journal got me on a creative strike. After one intense session of coloring my best friend ca

So this journal got me on a creative strike. After one intense session of coloring my best friend came over. I knew she was going in for surgery (In three days) and after thinking about how stressed she has to be I thought-- Pick a page we're doing it. So like the old lady I am (see three previous posts about revoking my teenager card) we went to a late lunch early dinner and had coffee and desert at a small cafe.

(She wasn't happy I was taking her picture) On the ride over I threw the book at her and said pick a random page. Lucky her she picked...

She was not thrilled seeing as I always always herass her for coloring outside the lines it was like fate. After laughing hysterically we had to ask the waitor to bring us a container of crayons.

Our selection was limited to say the least. She tried though. Notice her coloring.

She clearly wasn't getting into it at first though.

She thought she was done at this point until creativity must have struck and created this master peice.

She was so proud by the end- I think I even got her to smile!

I couldn't stay out of the fun so I turned to a random page.

So I ordered my coffee.

Drank a little.

And let the coffee spill oozing into other pages *cringe* ( I was fine destroying the pages, as long as they didnt ruin the other soon to be epic adventures).

Yes we are in a public setting as this is happening so you can imagine what our waiter thought of us.. Well our converstion went something like this.
"Will you sign my book? I know it sounds really random but the point of this book is to ruin it, and your the first person to be weireded out by us doing this so can we have you sign it?"
"What if I'm not weirded out. What if I think it's cool?"
"Then that's even cooler! Will you sign our book to show the first of our adventure!"
"Sure!"

This started the beginning of our adventure in Michigan, where we proceeded to ask and ask and ask sign and talk to random people. Enjoying destroying the book. More to come.

I was cruising Barnes and Nobles the other day with 13 dollars in my pocket when I came across a boo

I was cruising Barnes and Nobles the other day with 13 dollars in my pocket when I came across a book. Oh not just an ordinary book by any means, but a book named-- Wreck this Journal. An entire journal dedicated to the defacing, destroying, and damaging of a book in creative, interesting thought provoking ways. Now I'm far from someone with OCD or someone who is always clean. I do like books though. I do have some clean things. Either way I have decided to document my time with this book.

Notice how clean the book is and it has no marks. It's just a goofy book. By Keri Smith. I take no credit for any of her ideas and she actually has a clever blog as seen here. It has lots of clever video's of people destroying and such to their journals so I thought why not document MY journey with the journal? Let us start at the beginning which may be the only thing that is cleverly marked in this book...

I flipped to a random page and followed the directions...

It says. This page is a sign. What do you want it to say? Pulled out my coloring pencil's and went to town.

However I realized I was being extremely mild to the book. Only slightly creating the damage that really needed to be done. So I colored harder...

My sign reads (for those of you who can't read my coloring job) Keep your coins. I want change. Then being the person I am I realized-- I didnt read the directions so I went back to the front of the book...

The directions read:

1. Carry this with you everywhere you go.
2. Follow the instructions on every page.
3. Order is not important
4. Instructions are open to interpretation
5. Experiment (work against your better judgment.)

Then I realized. These directions looked very... Plain so I decided I would continue to color.

This is just the beginning of my epic journey of defacing, damaging, and destroying. I will continue to update you with pictures and Yes I'd love ideas, I may not promise to do them right away but I will at least give each thought a chance and try to deface, damage, the book the best I can. As seen below.

More to Come!

There is a new trend, which I've been reading about lately where brides will destroy their dress after the ceremony is over and done with. Some wait until after the reception... some don't! Some have the reception outfit to change into, so take advantage of the photographer's presence and get some crazy and awesome photos of their dress-trashing catharsis.

Why trash it? There are some theories: to show dedication to the new husband, the bride wont be needing the dress again; to show destroy the old and start anew; to be absolved from the stresses of the wedding and planning mentally and physically; and (my person fave) to get some great photos!

The New York Post has an article discussing the trend, crediting Las Vegas photographer, John Michael Cooper, with starting the trend for a wedding photography shoot.

Also, there is a blog dedicated to this trend called Trashthedress.com

What do you think about this trend? Would you consider trashing your dress?

I had a dream last night. It really seemed real and clear. In my dream, my mother and father were talking about renovating our house. My father agreed and we were talking about where we should stay. We would have to take everything out of the house and find a place to temporarily hold them while the house was under construction. I remember them saying we had to break down the house before actually rebuilding it. I even was imagining how it shall be in my dream. Hahah.. typical. Hmmh.. then I woke up.

I told my mother about my dream when I awoke, maybe that's why I still remember parts of it. I really believed it, then when I realized it was a dream.. I felt so surprised. We don't have any savings and well, my father is cheap. Heheh.. So it really seems far fetched, unlikely to happen in reality. ;p

But as I was reflecting on the dream... I read a message between the lines. [Not actually between the lines] My Father promised it will happen, but first we have to break down the whole house, only then shall we rebuild. After that, it will be wonderful... much better than the old one. I remember picturing it high... I was on the ground and I was looking up to the top, it was beautiful with the blue skies and fluffy clouds balancing the scene. It will take its form soon, I must be patient. I wonder...

This popped out in my head or rather heart:

Hosea 6: 1-3 "Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but He will heal us; He has injured us but He will bind up our wounds. After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will restore us, that we may live in His Presence. Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth."

God speaks in everything and in every way. We have to listen closely so we won't miss a thing. Maybe God is telling you something now? Ironic. He works in ways we cannot understand and His purpose, so great that we cannot comprehend. We can but we cannot fully. The unfathomable God wants to be sought out. It is His Will that you experience His Love in the most indescribable way. You have nothing to lose but yourself.
:] Why not listen?.. Why not follow?.. Why not live for Him? Why not live in Him? Why not? Can you compare what you're holding on to Him? Why keep holding on to something you can't hold on forever? Why not hold onto Him? Why not choose Him? Why not love Him? Why not be crazy for Him? He is for you... SO WHY NOT?

In my time as a Christian I have seen many things that I love and some things

In my time as a Christian I have seen many things that I love and some things I dislike for the better of change. Have you seen a Christian fall from grace? Or have you seen a church in poor conditions physically or spiritually? What did you do about it? I have often asked my self or commented “that’s not right” or look at what this person did. I then get into a whole realm of disliking the person or place by opinion and judgment till I notice my whole being itself is ready for war. Am I right? In my anger, I speak at other people and get people to be on my side in opinion of the circumstances I have a case against. Still, am I right? This all depends on the topic for what I could be mad at. Well, according to this I have seen one of the biggest follies in accordance to the daily Christian life of brothers and sisters. That is: When it comes to the speech of another Christian or spiritual condition of a person or place our people resolve the issues in factions, words that put others down, and disputes that lead to broken fellowships than mending fellowships. You can go to churches, you can search the internet, the gossipers of the towns, on you-tube, and casual fellowship conversations with people and ask them the "what's going on" within the Body of Christ. More or less you will here words from Christians discouraging ministries, speaking horribly against pastors, and judging people and places by the "natural eye" utilizing the wisdom of man and personal opinions against God's people rather than the spirit of love, mercy, and life. The downside of what we do in pride, because I have been guilty, is to put down someone else in a resolution to disagreement or for position. This is the main tactics of politicians who battle for a position or for an influence among people.

In the book of Samuel, there is the testimony of the first king of Israel whose name was Saul. Saul was anointed to be king over Israel after a period of time of having no king at all. Israel had judges to rule over the land and judge the controversies that would come about within the people. This is where Samuel the prophet comes into play because he was an “overseer” for God in it’s time period. Samuel is also the man appointed to anoint Saul, in accordance to the people request for a king. In his tenure, Saul is famously known for the disobedience to the Lord, and the tearing of the kingdom from him and giving it unto David. After that event, Saul was still king of Israel for a number of years. In as much, there are many situations where the King Saul did many horrible things before the sight of God which further justified God’s judgment. During the testimony of Saul, his character and behavior to the anointing of David and his acts as the following king of Israel increasingly made him very unpopular. One of the most amazing things about David though was the fact that almost every time he was given the chance to strike back in vengeance upon Saul he never struck him or killed him. In the scriptures it says:

· 4 David's men said to him, Behold the day of which the Lord said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hands and you shall do to him as seems good to you. Then David arose [in the darkness] and stealthily cut off the skirt of Saul's robe.

· 5 Afterward, David's heart smote him because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

· 6 He said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this to my master, the Lord's anointed, to put my hand out against him, when he is the anointed of the Lord. (1 Samuel 24:4-6)

Furthermore,

· 7 So David and Abishai went to the army by night, and there Saul lay sleeping within the encampment with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the army lay round about him.

· 8 Then said Abishai to David, God has given your enemy into your hands this day. Now therefore let me smite him to the earth at once with one stroke of the spear, and I will not strike him twice.

· 9 David said to Abishai, Do not destroy him; for who can raise his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?

· 10 David said, As the Lord lives, [He] will smite him; or his day will come to die or he will go down in battle and perish.

· 11The Lord forbid that I should raise my hand against the Lord's anointed; but take now the spear that is at his head and the bottle of water, and let us go. ( 1 Samuel 26: 7-11)

In David’s reaction to Saul having a chance to take revenge upon a person that was doing him wrong. He never took it into his own hands to judge Saul by death. It is, the Lord and the Lord only who has the power to raise and destroy people, kings, nations, and kingdoms. He did this through his holy prophets and those who walked according to his ordinances to placate this type of authority. By David’s anointing this was given to him.

What is man on the other hand, to take matters into their hands according to their own judgments and the avoidance of the council of the Lord’s might? The Bible says that, “God’s mercies endure forever.” The way of the world is I have to power to do all, which is false. Therefore we as Christians can by no means take matters into our own hands to reject, refuse, repudiate, decline, deny, rebuff, repel, renounce, discard, throw away, exclude, eliminate and jettison any other people of Christ out of order with what Jesus taught. This is not God; it is a Lucifer based approach in judgment, elitism, and isolation. It’s speaking death more than life.

Through Saul disposition against his own son-in-law, David’s respect for the man of God still was impeccable, though another of God’s anointed was trying to kill him. The Lord did take severe judgment on Saul and it came by the death of him and his son Jonathan in war. When the news was brought to David, he went into a period of weeping, fasting, and prayer. Why? Why, give a period of sorrow for a man who tried to kill him and his family. I could understand weeping for Jonathan, who was the son of Saul and help David escape death from his own father. That makes sense. However, I believe David wept, fasted, and prayed because of what was happening to Israel as a whole, including the king. That is an example of the heart of a King, from God. Did you know that further on David, who was still married to one of Saul’s daughters, Micah, was despised by her for his worship to God? So, David gives us an example of behavior to toil and trouble against people or families that are of God and anointed as well. He regarded them still as of God’s body.

· 7 When he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. I answered, Here I am.

· 8 He (Saul) asked me, Who are you? I answered, An Amalekite.

· 9 He (Saul) said to me, Rise up against me and slay me; for terrible dizziness has come upon me, yet my life is still in me [and I will be taken alive].

· 10 So I stood up against him and slew him, because I was sure he could not live after he had fallen.
· 17 David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and Jonathan his son, (2 Samuel 1:7-17)

David reacted totally different to the Amalekite than he did for Saul. In as much as his reaction was brute, he spoke of God’s anointed people in a way of defense and reverence for whom God chooses and calls his, no matter what. This was the mark of God’s King. There was another example of this type of zeal for the Lord from another King. This was Jesus in the dealing with the money changers.

· 12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

· 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

· 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. (Matthew 21:12-14)

What is the point? Love God enough to stand up for him in the midst of people and defend God’s people because they are still our brothers and sisters. Do we always regard a sinner as a sinner with a legalistic hammer? Mary Magdalene and Paul would have never been who they were after. So, we have a calling in the New Testament and an impartation of the Holy Spirit to comfort, edify, and exhort the body of Christ. Yet we use our language, our intellect, and our conversation to put down other people, ministries, and churches that God allowed to be here. It takes so much pride to put down someone for the exaltation of you. Rather, it is much greater in the eyes of God to remark in the forgiveness of the mistakes of men and the mercies of God. This is the fruit of love.

· 16 Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard no one from a [purely] human point of view [in terms of natural standards of value]. [No] even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now [we have such knowledge of Him that] we know Him no longer [in terms of the flesh].

· 17Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!( 2 Cor 5:16-17)

Let’s further address people in love, mercy, kindness and fruitfulness. Let’s encourage the body of Christ to build more places that exalt God’s manifestation here on Earth. Let’s be Christians and fulfill what we are called to do and love our brother as we love ourselves. In conclusion, let’s be careful of negative words that come from an evil heart of judging people instead of the fruit that manifests. Can we use healthier scriptural ways of being able to kick out the money changers and heal the people according to the word of God. Let’s be life and not be death, especially in the same kingdom that we represent.

A close second would be turning into this guy (click link for youtube video of guy trashing his office)

This is a guy that is--or was--on the edge (he's waaaaay over it now). It's kinda like how I feel most days, anymore. Watching some of these videos at work yesterday reminded me that I really need to get my butt in gear and do something with my life, before I go insane and start throwing photo gear at customers.

Of course, if I do, at least I'll have the good sense to throw the Olympus stuff first. Hopefully I'll have it out of my system before I move on to the cameras that deserve to live....

**epilogue** Speaking of frustrations, wordpress decided to be a bitch and not let me embed the video behind the link. Yay, irony!

Have the ads for zinc supplements left out some vital information? Many do not list the ranges of safe supplementation as outlined by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The levels vary by sex, age and pregnancy. Many fail to point out that vegetarians need to take more zinc than others because of the lower rate of absorption that their diets afford them. Those over the age of 55 may experience greater occurrence of zinc deficiency.
An average adult needs about 15 milligrams (mg) per day of zinc. Zinc can become toxic for prolonged periods at levels over 150 mg per day. Supplementation used for specific conditions has an upper limit of 60 mg for men and 45 mg for women. The toxicity from zinc results from its competition with copper absorption and lower High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels.
Does the question of whether those cough drops with zinc added do any good recur with every cold season? If this question comes up again the answer is yes, they do appear to shorten the duration of the cold. You may receive the best benefits from the use of cough drops because the mouth mucosa is able to absorb the zinc ions from the slowly dissolved form more affectively.
Much of zinc's recent popularity can be traced to studies showing correlations from its immune system impact. When zinc levels are low; T-cells decrease. This result appears to be separate from its use in supplements aimed at fighting the common cold.
Zinc is found in every cell in the human body. It is necessary for the formation of DNA. Used in over 80 enzymes, zinc is stored in its largest amounts in the muscles. Zinc is found in shellfish, beef, egg yolk, pork, whole grains and nuts. Zinc found in plants is less available for use by humans. Oysters are especially high in zinc with 148 mg per 3.5 ounce serving. Additionally zinc assists the body's absorption of beta carotene.
With so many bodily functions depending on zinc it should come as no surprise that low serum levels of zinc are found in people suffering from a wide array of ailments. Among these are anorexia, slow wound healing, skin disorders and night blindness.
Zinc supplementation is used to treat those with recent burn injuries; those suffering from Crohn's disease; persons with high levels of alcohol consumption and as a treatment for Wilson's disease. Wilson's disease is genetically linked and causes brain damage without treatment. Zinc works by blocking copper absorption which in this case is a desirable outcome.
Alzheimer's disease seems to benefit from treatment with zinc. This may be because of the influence of enzymatic processes in DNA production in nerve cells. The levels of zinc in Alzheimer's patients are much lower than normal. Zinc deficiency could destroy nerve cells.
Zinc supplements should not be taken by persons with stomach or duodenal ulcers. Similarly, anyone taking tetracycline or prescription calcium should not take zinc supplements as they may interfere with the absorption of these drugs.

Why is it that when someone you love lies to you, it has the power to completely destroy you? What is so powerful about the truth, that we will do anything to obtain it, no matter the consequence? Lets say that you know something that would completely destroy someone if you told them. Is it better to lie?

A friend of mine once said "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can load a bullet."

It is one thing to have someone you love to lash out and hit you, and it is another for them to look you in the eye and blatantly lie to you face, without even the slightest hint of remorse. It is even worse when they are lying to you, and you know it. You know it right then, but you can't say anything. You just freeze. How can they possibly lie to you like that? Especially after everything that you have been through together and after everything that you've done for them?? It's insane! It's just as bad, if not worse, than having them pull out a knife, look you in the eye and plunge it into your side.
