Five were freed on police bail after being held for seven hours. However, Lau and Teh had been remanded and are expected to brought to court to be formally charged tomorrow.

The other three released today were K Sudhagaran Stanley, M Suparamaniam and B Vimal.  

Georgetown police chief ACP Azam Abd Hamid said Ong and Satish Kumar were picked up because they were 'active' during the demonstration held by nearly 150 people near the Gurney Drive roundabout at 10am.

The gathering, part of a nationwide protest, was to urge the government to release all ISA detainees and grant Hindraf legal adviser P Uthayakumar proper medical treatment.

Uthayakumar, who was detained under the ISA on Dec 13 last year along with four other Hindraf leaders, is said to be suffering from heart complaints.

His family said that as a result of his detention, he is riddled with a blood sugar level of 13.5, disrupted eyesight, chest pains, and possibly damaged heart muscles. His supporters want the government to refer him to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further treatment.

The demonstration in Penang was jointly organised by the Penang group of Hindu Rights Action Front (Hindraf), Suaram, Penang Watch, Tanjung Workers Service Centre, Repeal ISA Coailition (GMI).

Incident-free gathering in KL

A similar gathering was also held in Kuala Lumpur this morning, with about 30 people - including Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah - assembling at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre shopping mall. This was a revisit by Hindraf to the location after its mammoth Nov 25 rally last year which attracted about 30,000 people.

As a result of that massive rally, the government launched its crackdown on Hindraf, culminating in the detention of five leaders in Kamunting detention camp. Hindraf chairperson P Waythamoorthy is presently in self-imposed exile in London.

R Kannan, a Hindraf coordinator who was the key organiser of the Kuala Lumpur protest, said that the government had been silent on the numerous appeals lodged to seek immediate medical treatment for Uthayakumar (photo).

“Even criminals are given medical treatment, so why not our Uthayakumar? He has done so much for the people, we cannot let this happen,” said Kannan.

“Uthayakumar has been having diabetes since early on. The medication he has received is not sufficient,” chipped in MP Sivarasa who joined in the gathering to show support for the movement.

“We also demand that all ISA detainees be released. We should emulate our neighbours Thailand and Indonesia for fair trials,” he added.

It is also learnt that Uthayakumar’s mother would be handing in a memorandum to the prime minister tomorrow, calling for the release of all ISA detainees.

“We hope they will consider releasing the detainees this time,” added Kannan.

No arrests were reported in Kuala Lumpur although there was a strong police presence. Similar gatherings were also held in Ipoh and Seremban today.

Arrested for not dispersing

In Penang, OCPD Azam said Ong and Satish were picked up to question on their role in the demonstration.

A police team from the Pulau Tikus police station arrived at the demonstration scene at 11.10am and told the demonstrators to abandon the rally and disperse from the area.

However, Ong and Satish were arrested in Gurney Plaza, about 500 metres away, after they had left the venue.

Azam claimed the duo failed to adhere to police instruction to abandon the 'illegal' rally and leave the area.

However, a Hindraf activist from Penang, K Vasantha, 26, said the demonstrators were not told to disperse immediately.

"We were given 45 minutes and we complied to it. I don't understand why our friends were arrested," she said.

The Suaram duo however were detained after Lau lodged a police report against police harassment at the rally.

Lau had just came out from the Jalan Patani police station premise when an unidentified police officer raised his voice against her.

When Lau told the officer to lower his voice and show respect to her, a shouting match ensued between them. She was then taken under the police custody for questioning.

Teh was also detained for recording the Lau incident. His video camera was also seized.

Second rally in Penang

No untoward incidents were reported, however at another Hindraf demonstration in Megamall Pinang in Prai.

Led by Makkal Sakti coordinator RS Thanenthiran (photo), about 300 people took part in the rally.

The rally lasted for about 40 minutes before the demonstrators dispersed peacefully in the present of about 100 riot police personnel armed with batons and helmets.

At both rallies in Penang, protesters display banners rallying cry for the release of the detained five Hindraf leaders and urging the government to repeal the tough ISA, which allows for detention without trial.

Kami segenap karyawan dan ex karyawan Texmaco Group memohon bantuan kepada Bapak/Ibu untuk dapat ikut mengungkap Kasus Di Balik Hutang Texmaco Group.

Kami sangat mengharapkan Texmaco dapat bangkit kembali, namun kami akan sangat bersedih dan tidak rela kalau pemerintah tanpa pertimbangan matang mengucurkan kredit baru ke perusahaan di bawah Texmaco group karena kami merasa yakin bahwa itikad baik dari pihak manajemen / pemilik perusahaan sama sekali tidak ada.

DI BALIK RENCANA DEMO KARYAWAN TEXMACO.

Karyawan Texmaco berdemo diatur dengan rapi oleh pihak Manajemen (Expatriat).

Dengan adanya rencana demonstrasi karyawan Texmaco Group, kami sebagian di antara ex karyawan dan karyawan Texmaco sangat yakin kalau demo ini benar-benar bukan aspirasi dari mayoritas karyawan Texmaco.

Tuntutan yang diajukan sangat tidak masuk akal. Jika murni dari aspirasi karyawan Texmaco seharusnya yang dituntut adalah pimpinan Texmaco Group sendiri untuk membubarkan/memulangkan karyawan Expatriat yang jumlahnya sangat banyak.

Berikut adalah sekilas gambaran pemborosan yang terjadi di Texmaco Group yang sudah berjalan lebih dari 30 tahun. Gambaran gaji dan fasilitas apa saja yang mereka dapatkan berikut perkiraan biaya yang kami ambil secara rata-rata perbulan. Data ini kami dapatkan dari rekan yang masih bekerja di Texmaco dan memiliki akses informasi Expatriat secara mendetail.

1. Gaji rata-rata : $ 4000 / bulan ( = 34 juta / bulan )
2. Fasilitas : Rumah/Apartemen (perabotannya lengkap), Telepon, Listrik, PAM, Mobil dinas, Pengemudinya, Telepon Genggam, Transportasi, Pelayanan Kesehatan, Sekolah Anak Expat (Internasional Schooll), Tiket pesawat untuk cuti (1 bulan dalam setahun), Tiket pesawat, hotel, perpanjangan visa wisata di Singapura, yang kesemuanya kami hitung berjumlah rata-rata 26 juta / bulan.

Maka dari itu terjumlah total biaya yang dikeluarkan per orang Expatriat : 60 Juta / bulan

Dikalikan jumlah Expatriat 400 orang = 60 Juta x 400 = Rp 24 Miliar ( ~ 3 Juta Dolar / bulan).

Jumlah Expatriat yang 400 orang berarti hanya 1% (SATU PERSEN) dari total seluruh karyawan Texmaco Group yang berjumlah 40.000 orang.

Sedangkan biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk mereka (Expatriat) lebih dari 70% dari total pengeluaran gaji/fasilitas seluruh karyawan Texmaco yang 40.000 orang !!
Ini jelas-jelas merupakan pemborosan uang yang akhirnya rakyat Indonesia lagi yang harus menanggungnya (hal ini mengingat hutang Texmaco Group merupakan beban seluruh rakyat Indonesia).

Tanpa memojokkan etnis tertentu (dalam hal ini etnis India), Expatriat yang jumlahnya lebih kurang 400 orang tersebut 95% adalah warga negara India yang disinyalir kuat adalah keluarga, saudara, kerabat dll dari pendiri Texmaco Group (Sinivasan).

Kami tidak keberatan bila Expatriat menduduki posisi strategis/struktural dengan jangka waktu tertentu berdasarkan keahlian yang dimilikinya, tetapi Expatriat di Texmaco Group dapat kami jelaskan ceritanya sebagai berikut :
1. Sebagian besar dari mereka yang tidak kompetences.
2. Mayoritas menduduki/menjalankan pekerjaan administrasi (dengan gaji Dolar !!)
3. Banyak di antara mereka yang sudah bekerja lebih dari 5 tahun bahkan banyak yang sudah lebih dari 15 tahun tanpa kejelasan kapan mereka akan dipulangkan setelah alih keahlian/tecknologi.
4. Mereka tidak didampingi karyawan Indonesia untuk diposisikan menggantikan mereka.
5. Bahkan yang kami sangat sesalkan, mereka sama sekali tidak mendidik karyawan Indonesia.
6. Yang lebih parah lagi, sangat sering dijumpai Expatriat asal India ini yang baru direkrut ke texmaco TANPA SKILS (KEAHLIAN), sehingga lebih banyak keahlian justru mereka dapatkan sewaktu bekerja di perusahaan ini.

Melalui berbagai pengamatan, kami berkesimpulan bahwa Expatriat yang dipekerjakan di Texmaco Group sbb :
1. Mereka digunakan untuk memperkuat posisi pemilik (keluarga Sinivasan) karena jelas loyalitas mereka akan lebih besar ke pemilik karena ditunjang dengan gaji & fasilitas yang sangat besar
2. Mereka dapat menutupi kecurangan-kecurangan permainan uang dalam perusahaan
3. Dengan jumlah Expatriat yang besar dan loyal terhadap pemilik maka mereka dapat meredam gejolak-gejolak karyawan Indonesia di dalam perusahaan.

KESIMPULANNYA
1. Texmaco sudah beroperasi lebih dari 30 tahun. Bayangkan saja sebelum krisis moneter tahun 1997, jumlah Expatriat lebih dari 800 orang.

Jika selama 25 tahun (1972 s/d 1997) kita coba hitung secara kasar biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk menggaji Expatriat adalah sebagai berikut :

Rp 60 Juta / bulan per satu Expatriat ~ = $ 7000 / bulan / Expatriat
(dikonversikan ke Dolar dengan nilai uang riil seperti saat ini = 8.500 rupiah)

~ 800 orang x $7000 x 12 bulan x 25 tahun = $ 1.680.000.000 ( 1,68 Miliar Dolar !!!)

~ (dengan konversi yang sama) berarti 14 TRILLIUN RUPIAH !! uang hasil hutang Texmaco Group telah melayang untuk menggaji Expatriat India.
Jumlah ini sendiri sudah SEPARUH DARI total hutang Texmaco Group yang sebesar 29 TRILLIUN RUPIAH.

Dalam istilah Finance ini bisa disebut CAPITAL FLIGHT secara BESAR-BESARAN !! baru melalui arus gaji Expatriat saja (yang saat ini kami amati)

2. Untuk skenario kucuran dana (bila dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah atas desakan demo tunggangan tersebut) untuk ke depannya, maka bisa diperhitungkan bahwa tiap $ 120 Juta (sekitar hampir 1 Trillin Rupiah) dana dari pemerintah hanya akan dihabiskan untuk menggaji Expatriat selama waktu 3 tahun saja !!
Bayangkan saja kucuran dana dari pemerintah dalam program restrukturisasi hutang yang lalu sebesar ‘hanya’ 25 Juta Dolar (tahap I) tentunya sudah dihabiskan hanya untuk membayar gaji/fasilitas Expatriat selama kurang dari 9 bulan !!

3. Lucunya bila hal mengenai Expatriat ini ditanyakan ke direktur HRD kami, kami yakin dianya sendiri tidak mempunyai akses informasi karena (lucunya lagi) administrasi untuk pegawai Expatriat ditangani oleh departemen khusus yang dikendalikan ole seorang Expatriat manajer (dengan staf-staf yang juga Expatriat) di mana direktur HRD (yang merupakan pegawai Indonesia) tidak membawahi manajer Expatriat tersebut. Tentunya dengan demikian direktur HRD kami juga tidak mengetahui besar biaya/gaji/fasilitas yang dibayarkan Texmaco Group untuk Expatriat.

4. Pengerukan uang rakyat dari kucuran dana hutang nampaknya telah menjadi PROFESI dari Manajemen Texmaco Group, terbukti dari ketidakpedulian Manajemen untuk melakukan perbaikan-perbaikan di dalam perusahaan ataupun paling tidak melakukan pengiritan biaya dengan memulangkan Expatriat. Setiap kali terjadi kekurangan modal kerja (yang tentunya akibat dari pemborosan tersebut), penyelesaian yang dilakukan selalu melalui pendekatan politik uang ke pejabat negara agar memberikan kucuran hutang terus menerus. Bahkan kali ini mereka tidak malu-malu menggunakan keroncongan perut 40.000 karyawannya untuk mendapatkan kucuran hutang lagi.

5. Texmaco Group hanya layak dioperasikan lagi bila organisasi di manajemen dihapuskan dari unsur-unsur manajemen / Expatriat yang korup dan pembuangan uang sia-sia tanpa imbalan keahlian yang sepadan.

6. Kami bersedia membeberkan seluruh nama-nama Expatriat yang bisa ditindaklanjuti dengan penyelidikan lebih lanjut untuk membuktikan kebenaran pernyataan kami di atas. Untuk keperluan informasi lebih lanjut, seterusnya kami akan menggunakan email 0- dihapus –0 hingga dilakukan perubahan email bila diperlukan.

7. Kami juga 100% yakin bahwa putra-putri bangsa yang sekarang masih bekerja di Texmaco BISA menjalankan perusahaan ini tanpa Expatriat satupun. Kami juga mengharapkan bila Texmaco ini dihidupkan lagi oleh pemerintah, putra-putri terbaik bangsa (yang bukan .pegawai Texmaco sekarang) bisa ditarik untuk membangun Texmaco untuk menjalankan laju perusahaan aset nasional ini.

8. Kami tidak rela melihat ribuan rekan-rekan kami (karyawan Indonesia) yang dirumahkan dan terkena PHK namun hingga sekarang uang pesangon mereka tidak dibayarkan (dengan alasan kekurangan uang kas). Di lain pihak, jumlah Expart tidak dikurangi satupun, bahkan cenderung bertambah makin banyak, di mana gaji Expatriat tetap dibayarkan penuh.

Seharusnya karyawan yang sekarang masih bekerja di Texmaco lebih rela berkorban kehilangan pekerjaan daripada hidup melihat uang rakyat Indonesia diisep habis-habisan oleh ketidakadilan yang kami telah gambarkan di atas.

Namun tentunya kami bisa lebih berbahagia bila Texmaco dapat kembali berjalan baik, bagaimanapun sebagian besar dari kami telah lebih dari 8-10 tahun bersama Texmaco. Tentunya setelah dilakukan perombakan dan perampingan manajemen besar-besaran yang bisa membawa Texmaco menjadi perusahaan terkemuka dan sebenar-benar aset nasional (bukan slogan “aset nasional” rekayasa pihak manajemen / pemilik Texmaco saat ini).

Bila Texmaco kelak bisa bangkit kembali, kami yang sudah dikenakan PHK maupun dalam status dirumahkan bersedia dipanggil kembali bila diperlukan (sehubungan dengan pengetahuan & pengalaman teknis dan systems kami di perusahaan), bila pun tidak bukan masalah karena kebanyakan dari kami sudah mendapatkan pekerjaan di tempat lain.

The Bourne Conspiracy PS3 Demo Review

What I Liked:

1. Cinematic hand-to-hand  combat is badass and awesome.

2. Firearm combat is similar to Uncharted.

3. Presentation is top-notch, and the voice acting is good.

4. Feels like you could be playing a Bourne movie.

5. Quick-time events work well here, but expect to have to retry sections a few times to get it right. Seems like checkpoints occur pretty often, so when you have to repeat one,  you don't have to redo too much to get back to where you were.

What I Didn't Like:

1. The driving part was the worst part of the demo.  It was the only part of the demo that didn't really reflect the excitement of the Bourne movies.  I hope there aren't too many driving sequences in the final game.

2. Firearm combat also isn't quite as exciting as the hand-to-hand combat, but it works.

3. The game will take a lot of trial and error to beat. Expect to have to do sections over a few times before you advance.  Could potentially be pretty frustrating.

Yay: The game just feels really awesome.  This game IS THE Bourne game.  +1

Final BS Rating: +3 HARDCORE

Closing Statement: I'm anxious for the full game now. Based on the demo alone, I'm sure to be getting this game when it comes out.  I like what I played for the most part.  If you liked the Bourne movies, you owe it to yourself to check this game out.  There's no Matt Damon in the game, so depending on your point of view, that could be good or bad.  If the game follows the books more closely than the movies, it's probably a good thing he's not in it, because the characters are a lot different.

HAZE PS3 Demo Review:

What I Liked:

1.  Graphics are  good, with a few exceptions.

2. Gameplay is typical of recent sci-fi FPS games. Reminded me of Turok without dinosaurs and with some nicer looking graphics.

What I Didn't Like:

1. Dialog is some of the worst I've ever heard in a first person shooter. It sounds like the script was written by the 13 year old son of one of the developers.  It tries too hard to be "hip".  I seriously think that people in 2048 won't be using the words "newbie", "boo-yah", and the phrase "easy-peasy Japanesy".  One guy says something like "Is there a medal for being badass and gangsta, because I'm it." Or something very similar. And it's a white guy claiming to be "gangsta".  I think the same guy also talks about the enemy shitting in their pants, but when he says it, he sounds like a gleeful 9 year old who thoroughly enjoys the literal thought of someone shitting  their pants.  Seriously I sat there and did the facepalm about 3 times while playing the demo because of the crap-tacular dialog.

2. The human characters look plastic. Remember Doom 3? Yeah, looks just as plastic as Doom 3.

3. Same tired sci-fi FPS plot elements.  Crashed dropship in the jungle? Check.  Secure the crash site? Check. Bunch of beefy trash-talking soldiers? Check.   If this was an RPG, the demo would be the mandatory sewer level.

Gay: Seriously the dialog and the script are THAT BAD.  When you cringe while playing a FPS because of the dialog, you know something is WRONG.  -1

Final BS Rating: -2 SUCKS

Closing Statement: I won't be buying the full version of HAZE when it comes out later this month.  With the exception of the abysmal dialog, this game just screams average.  There's enough in the demo to satisfy my feelings about how the rest of the game will be.  When Nectar becomes your one factor separating you from other similar shooters, you're in deep shit.  4 player Co-op is a great addition, if you have that many friends willing to play though it with you.  My advice, if you have Call of Duty 4, keep playing it and pass on HAZE.  COD4 is still the king of FPS games for the time being.

Mit dem bundesweiten Aktionstag unter dem Motto "Freiheit statt Angst" sollen Bürger ein Signal für den Erhalt der Grundrechte geben. Organisator der dezentralen Veranstaltungen ist der Arbeitskreis Vorratsdatenspeicherung. Der Unmut der Aktivisten richtet sich so vor allem gegen die heftig umstrittene sechsmonatige Vorratsspeicherung von Telefon- und Internetdaten, die geplanten heimliche Online-Durchsuchungen und weitere Maßnahmen wie die Ausdehnung der Videoüberwachung oder biometrische Ausweisdokumente.

Die konkrete Planung der Vorortgruppen in einzelnen Städten erfolgt auf einer gesonderten Wiki-Seite. Die Übersicht der teilnehmenden Städte reicht derzeit von Aurich über Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg und Köln bis nach Ulm. Die Begründung für die Demos ist gleich geblieben: "Staat und Unternehmen registrieren, überwachen und kontrollieren uns immer vollständiger", heißt es im Aufruf der Bürgerrechtler. "Egal, was wir tun, mit wem wir sprechen oder telefonieren, wohin wir uns bewegen oder fahren, mit wem wir befreundet sind, wofür wir uns interessieren, in welchen Gruppen wir engagiert sind: Der 'große Bruder' Staat und die 'kleinen Brüder' aus der Wirtschaft wissen es immer genauer."

Bei den Protestveranstaltungen setzt der Arbeitskreis auf den Einfallsreichtum der Bürger. Mahnwachen, Demonstrationen, Kunstaktionen, Flashmobs, Kundgebungen, Grillfeste, Partys oder Infostände schweben den Organisatoren vor. Wichtig sei vor allem sichtbar zu machen, "dass die Bürger für ihre Freiheiten wieder auf die Straße gehen".

Am Donnerstag hatten zuvor der frühere Bundestagsvizepräsident Burkhard Hirsch sowie der Rechtsanwalt Heinrich Hannover den "Grundrechte-Report 2008" in Karlsruhe der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Beide rügten ein Ausufern staatlichen Sicherheitsdenkens auf Kosten der bürgerlichen Freiheiten. "Mit dem Gesetz über die Vorratsdatenspeicherung, das die potentielle Kontrolle eines jeden Bürgers erlaubt, ist die Grenze zum Überwachungsstaat überschritten", erklärte Hirsch. Der Liberale kritisierte, dass Regierungen und Parlamente des Bundes und der Länder in ihrer Gesetzgebung fortgesetzt die Grenzen der Verfassung auf die Probe stellen würden, statt ihre Verantwortung im Rahmen des Grundgesetzes wahrzunehmen.

Der mittlerweile zwölfte Grundrechte-Report setzt sich kritisch mit der deutschen und europäischen Verfassungswirklichkeit auseinander. Beim Gesetzgeber sei an die Stelle nüchternen Abwägens von Risiken zunehmend eine alarmistische Übertreibung getreten in Verbindung mit weltfremden Versprechungen fast totaler Sicherheit durch zunehmende Kontrolle, Überwachung und präventive Maßnahmen gegen verdächtige wie unverdächtige Personen, lautet der Tenor des Sammelwerks.

Schwerpunkte der Einzelanalysen sind eine Aufarbeitung der Vorgänge rund um den G8-Gipfel von Heiligendamm, der zu bislang ungekannten Eingriffen in die Versammlungsfreiheit instrumentalisiert worden sei. Ferner behandeln Autoren in rund 40 Beiträgen etwa die erheblichen Verschärfungen im deutschen Ausländerrecht, tiefgreifende Einschnitte in den Datenschutz durch das Abkommen über den Weitergabe von Fluggastdaten zwischen den USA und der EU oder das Gefährdungspotential von Medienmonopolen für die Demokratie. Dari news yang aku denger nih untuk memperingati hari reformasi ini dari beberapa Organisasi mahasiswa akan melakukan Demo besar - besaran. Oraganisasi KAMMI dan Front Pemuda 98. trus masa tujuannya cuma untuk memperingati sih?? jelas ngga lah.. tujuannya untuk memprotes kenaikan harga BBM sekarang ini. Demo akan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 12 Mei ini. Kayaknya klo ikutan bakal seru nih.. Tapi semoga tidak terjadi kecelakaan lagi seperti yang sudah - sudah.. Apartado gráfico

Por lo que respecta los gràficos no hay nada que reprochar y mucho a decir. El juego utiliza una evolución del motor empleado en "Colin McRae DiRT" con unos efectos de iluminación y texturización también muy mejorados. Cabe destacar el trabajo realizado en el sistema de colisiones y como se lleva a la práctica, en cada carrera veremos como el coche se nos va deteriorando en cada choque y como las piezas tanto nuestras como las de nuestros rivales queden esparcidas por toda la pista durante TODA la carrera. No solo se quedará aqui, pues el coche también experimentará fallos en la dirección, en los neumàticos (pinchazos) y demás fallos mecànicos.

El aspecto de los 3 circuitos disponibles en la demo es impresionante, sobretodo las localizaciones de Europa y USA donde el acabado del trazado es impecable. Lo mismo para los modelados de los vehiculos, los tres coches que tenemos el placer de conducir (BMW, Nissan y Ford) estan hechos con mucho mimo y enseguida nos haremos a la idea de como manejarlo.

Por lo que respecta al framerate (cuadros por segundo) he de decir que son los 30 fps mas conseguidos que he visto en un juego de coches, incluso mas que "Project Gotham Racing 4". No se experimenta ningún bajón en ningún momento y la consecución de imágenes va fina como la seda.

Jugabilidad

Aquí es donde me he sentido un poco mal, al principio. Pues me esperaba un juego de conducción un poco mas simulador tipo "Forza Motorsport 2" pero lo que hay es un arcade puro y duro donde la realidad brilla por su ausencia. Los que buscáis un simulador no os recomiendo este título.

Aparte de esto la jugabilidad se asemeja mucho al antes mencionado "Colin McRae DiRT", las curbas se toman con demasiada facilidad pues la rutina de frenar y coger la curba no es que no sea realista es que ya es directamente de máquina recreativa (tipo Ridge Racer aunque no tan exagerado). Lo mejor de todo y uno de los aspectos mejores en el juego son las carreras con 20 rivales, si, compites con otros 20 coches en pista, lo que hace las carreras mucho mas divertidas y competitivas a la par de vistosas con salidas de pista, choques, etc.

OnLine

Hacia tiempo que no nos regalaban una demo con online incluido (al menos ninguna remarcable) y esta realmente ha sido un descubrimiento. En las pocas carreras que he podido hacer a través de XboxLive no he experimentado ningún lagazo ni tirones, un 10 en este aspecto. Lo que ignoro es el número máximo de jugadores que soporará, supongo que seran los 16 típicos.

Conclusión

Race Driver Grid es un juego de conducción con un punto diferente de lo visto hasta ahora. En el título todo son pros y casi no tiene ningún punto en contra, tal vez su estilo tan marcadamente arcade tire para atrás a más de uno, pero es algo que se te pasa en las primeras horas de juego cuando le empiezas a coger el gustillo. Además, el gran número de rivales simultáneos en carrera son una innovación en esta generación y una característica que hace cambiar un juego de arriba a abajo, pues no es lo mismo correr contra 5 coches inferiores a ti que con 20 dándolo todo por ver ondear la bandera de cuadros.

As far as I can figger-- at least where it is applied to underground musicians-- is that one should be "working class," not speak with a "posh accent" and for thee Love of Lucifer: no fooking way can you have attended a school where the tuition exceeds a few hundred pounds. Also I've duly noted that British folks sho' like to yammer on about it-- especially Oi! bands and Ray Davies.

A lovely British um... "bird" once explained to me that Test Dept. were a hyper-liberal bunch whose songs tackled much of what I failed to understand above, even going so far as to collaborate with a Miner's Union Choir in support of their strike of 1984-- (at least I think that was the gist of it... she had a really heavy accent) and here I thought their lyrics were nothing more than monosyllabic utterances of cathartic rage. I mean, what was I supposed to think? These New Cross, London blokes used discarded hunks of scrap metal from local factories to create a pulverizing form of musique concrete that has since become the soggy, pre-packaged rebellion known as industrial music. Luckily, they sound nothing like the tripe the kids think is all "heavy" n' shit like Marilyn and Two-Inch Male (bet those guys went to Ivy League schools). Nope. Here's where the sheep get separated from the goats, matey. Ya got drill bits spinnin' into yer skull and tribal beats that sound like they were pounded out on the lids of barrels of toxic waste.

CORONER - Death Cult Demo (1986)

{First off, inspiration for this entry goes to the lovely & talented Mogo for his recent post of this here band's "No More Color" LP}

Switzerland has given us quality, if not quantity-- ya got chocolate, watches, cheese, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Fear of God, Messiah, Samael before they went all techno-wimp, Jack & the Rippers, Negativ, Sperma, Glueams, garage-punk heroes the Sevens and a handful of hardcore bands I'm not in the mood to type right now. Oh... and these guys. Hailing from Zürich, Coroner would become renowned as virtuosos of thee highest order for thee bewildering complexity of LP's like "Mental Vortex" and the aforementioned "No More Color." In 1986 however, they were still primitive thrashers not unlike countrymen Hellhammer whose Tom G. Warrior provides the vocals for this here demo. The sound quality is crisp, and has that most excellent farty bass sound lovers of metal demo tapes have grown to love (or at least I have). Best of all, of the six tracks featured here, only "Spiral Dream" was ever given the full studio treatment (on their debut album).

Mereka semua, dengan lantang menentang keputusan-keputusan pemerintah yang menyusahkan rakyat, terutama keputusan dalam kebijakan ekonomi pemerintah. Mereka dengan gigih membela nasib ‘wong cilik’ yang makin hari makin tercekik dengan kenaikan harga-harga kebutuhan hidup yang semakin melambung.

Tapi ada suatu keraguan yang sempat terekam di benak saya tentang beberapa demonstrasi yang dilancarkan oleh mahasiswa. Beberapa hari lalu, di salah satu stasiun TV swasta nasional, saya sempat melihat berita yang menampilkan video/rekaman hasil reportase wartawan terhadap para mahasiswa yang berdemo tentang kenaikan BBM. Yang membuat saya ragu adalah dari rekaman tersebut adalah para mahasiswa yang berdemo terlihat mengenakan ikat kepala berwarna putih yang bertuliskan “BEM” kependekan dari Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa.

Melihat atribut (ikat kepala berwarna putih) yang dikenakan mahasiswa tersebut, saya jadi teringat pada beberapa serpihan sejarah perjuangan bangsa Indonesia melawan penjajah, yang saya pelajari di sekolah. Dari pelajaran sejarah yang saya dapat dulu, saya jadi tahu bahwa perjuangan bangsa ini menuju kemerdekaan melalui 2 cara. Yang pertama adalah dengan mengangkat senjata, kedua dengan cara diplomasi/perundingan yang identik dengan sepak terjang Bung Karno dkk.

Bisa dibilang cara yang pertama adalah peperangan dengan definisi yang harfiah, yaitu adu fisik, perkelahian, adu tenaga, dsb dengan atau tanpa senjata yang intinya perlawanan tersebut dominan menggunakan otot. Dan perang pada saat itu juga ditunjang dengan atribut tertentu selain senjata, ya maksudnya kalau tentara ya pakai seragam yang berlaku yang menjadi ciri khas, sedangkan rakyat sipil yang ingin berpartisipasi menggunakan atribut pribadi mereka. Ada yang menarik dari pertempuran yang terjadi di Surabaya waktu itu, Dr. Moestopo, yang dikenal sebagai pemimpin perlawanan arek-arek Suroboyo dan juga Menteri Pertahanan Ad-Interim saat itu, selalu meminta anak buahnya untuk mengenakan ikat kepala berwarna putih pada saat berperang yang artinya sebagai simbol Pasukan Berani Mati. Untuk sekedar informasi, kemungkinan simbol tersebut secara filosofis didapat Dr. Moestopo dari budaya Jepang yang sempat menjajah Indonesia, karena bisa dibilang Pak Moes (sapaan akrab Dr. Moestopo) memiliki hubungan yang baik dan dihormati para petinggi perwakilan kekaisaran Jepang di Indonesia sehingga pada saat Jepang menyerah pada Sekutu dan Sekutu hendak menyerang Indonesia, Pak Moes dengan mudahnya ‘merayu’ Jepang untuk menyerahkan persediaan senjatanya kepada pihak Indonesia untuk digunakan melawan Sekutu.

Kemudian cara yang kedua, yang dilakukan dengan diplomasi/perundingan selalu identik dengan Bung Karno dkk. Bung Karno berlatarbelakang sipil bahkan sebagai seorang politisi yang termasyhur di dunia beliau dikenal sebagai seorang teknokrat dengan titel Insinyur-nya yang didapat dari pendidikannya di ITB (sama seperti B.J. Habibie yang sama-sama alumnus ITB yang juga dikenal sebagai teknokrat kondang). Karena mungkin dulunya beliau seorang mahasiswa dan bukan seorang militer, sehingga beliau lebih memilih untuk berpartisipasi dalam perjuangan kemerdekaan Indonesia melalui cara-cara perundingan yang cenderung lebih menggunakan otak daripada otot, ya memang di militer juga ada yang namanya teknik-teknik berstrategi-ria yang menggunakan otak, tetapi tetap saja dalam pelaksanaannya di lapangan tetap otot yang dominan. Dalam sepak terjangnya, Bung Karno dkk memang menggunakan senjata tetapi senjatanya adalah mulutnya yang lebih tajam dari bambu runcing dan akal pikirannya yang lebih destruktif dari senjata api, dan beliau juga melengkapi diri dengan atribut yang pantas sebagai seorang pemikir terpelajar, yaitu setiap beliau tampil di depan masyarakat, beliau selalu tampak mengenakan setelan jas keren, sepatu kinclong, dan rambut klimis. Dengan kata lain beliau selalu tampak rapi dalam tugasnya, karena sudah pasti beliau tidak akan memegang senjata api atau berkotor-kotor di hutan bergerilya dan beliau juga tidak harus menghadapi resiko mati tertembak pada saat beliau bertugas.

Sebenarnya kalau melihat aksi mahasiswa-mahasiswa saat ini yang rajin berdemo, pada dasarnya perjuangan mereka sama dengan Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, dkk karena mereka semua sama-sama kaum intelek yang dibekali pengetahuan yang baik. Hanya saja perjuangan tersebut berbeda jaman dan sasaran perjuangannya. Bung Karno dkk berjuang demi kemerdekaan rakyat Indonesia dari penjajahan bangsa asing, sedangkan mahasiswa-mahasiswa sekarang berjuang demi kesejahteraan dan keadilan terhadap kehidupan rakyat Indonesia yang tertindas dari segala krisis multidimensi yang berkembang beberapa dekade belakangan. Mereka semua berperang di atas meja bukan berperang di hutan-hutan atau di pantai-pantai menggunakan senjata api dan bayonet.

Jadi, pada saat saya melihat para mahasiswa yang berdemonstrasi sambil mengenakan ikat kepala berwarna putih, otak bodoh saya ini langsung bertanya-tanya. Apakah makna ikat kepala putih tersebut adalah sebagai simbol pengabdian mereka kepada rakyat kecil sampai akhir hayat mereka atau ikat kepala putih tersebut memang sebagai simbol yang sama yang selalu diperintahkan Dr. Moestopo kepada anak buahnya dalam pertempuran yang berpotensi menimbulkan korban jiwa. Keraguan tersebut bukannya tak berdasar tetapi melihat dinamika kehidupan saat ini yang selalu diwarnai dengan demonstrasi dari kalangan mahasiswa, ada tendensi bahwa demonstrasi tersebut hampir selalu berujung pada bentrokan atau kericuhan antara kepolisian atau aparat keamanan setempat dengan mahasiswa yang berdemonstrasi dan tidak jarang bentrokan tersebut menyebabkan jatuhnya korban luka-luka di kedua belah pihak.

Lalu, apakah hal ini yang seharusnya terjadi pada pejuang-pejuang rakyat kecil yang notabene orang-orang berpendidikan?

Jujur, saya sebagai bagian dari ‘wong cilik’, saya sangat berterimakasih pada kegigihan dan perjuangan saudara-saudaraku mahasiswa. Kalian merupakan pahlawan moderen yang sangat dinanti-nantikan oleh kami ‘wong cilik’ ini di saat hidup yang serba susah dan mahal ini, karena tidak jarang orang-orang yang seharusnya mampu menyelamatkan rakyat kecil dari kesengsaraan malah terlena oleh kekuasaan dan harta. Wakil-wakil rakyat yang seharusnya ‘melayani’ rakyat malah justru ‘dilayani’ rakyat dengan segala fasilitas mewahnya bahkan tidak sedikit pula yang menyalahgunakan posisinya tersebut dengan ber-KKN massal.

Tetapi sekarang, ijinkan saya untuk memberi masukkan kepada para pejuangku mahasiswa sekalian untuk menyempurnakan langkah kalian sebagai seorang yang mulia di mata kami. Yaitu, berpakaianlah yang sopan dan rapi di setiap aksi kalian membela kami rakyat kecil karena kalian mewakili masyarakat luas, bersikaplah dengan cerdas dan kendalikan emosi kalian dalam menghadapi tekanan-tekanan yang mungkin menghampiri kalian sehingga bentrokan-bentrokan yang seharusnya tidak perlu terjadi dapat dihindari, mintalah ijin sebelum berdemo karena seringkali aksi demonstrasi kalian dihentikan oleh pihak berwajib karena karena kalian belum mengantongi ijin berdemonstrasi, dan yang terakhir, teruslah berjuang pahlawanku sampai kehidupan masyarakat yang madani terwujudkan, kami sebagai rakyat kecil yang kalian bela hanya sanggup berdoa semoga kehidupan yang keras ini segera melunak.

Tulisan ini saya buat bukan untuk memberikan kritik yang menjatuhkan kepada para mahasiswa yang memperjuangkan hak rakyat kecil, tapi untuk memberikan saran yang membangun kepada para pejuang rakyat kecil tersebut. Karena setiap orang pasti ingin memiliki sosok pahlawan yang sempurna dan selalu ingin menyempurnakannya di setiap perihal kehidupan. Karena pahlawan dapat menjadi inspirator dan reaktor yang baik bagi kita semua untuk bertindak melawan terhadap kemunduran moral dan mental bangsa yang semakin hari semakin parah.

Seperti yang kita ketahui bersama, BBM akan mengalami kenaikan pada bulan depan. Jelas itu akan mempengaruhi harga-harga barang atau jasa yang sering kita gunakan. Seperti makanan, ongkos angkot dan lain-lain. Alasan pemerintah menaikkan BBM adalah karena mahalnya harga minyak mentah dunia yang mecapai lebih dari $100 per barel, dan subsidi APBN tidak mencukupinya. Tapi saya tidak akan membahas ini dari segi pemerintahan, karena saya sendiri tidak politik dan terlalu bingung dengan masalah politik yang fluktuatif seperti saham. Seperti yang saya tulis di awal posting, saya akan membahas dari sudut pandang yang lain.

Seolah menjadi budaya bangsa kita, munculnya budaya baru yang 'merugikan' rakyat pasti selalu diiringi dengan demonstrasi. Begitu juga dengan kenaikan harga BBM kali ini, demonstrasi juga terjadi, dari masyarakat kecil yang menyuarakan keberatan mengenai naiknya harga BBM sampai pada Mahasiswa -ini yang paling sering-, dengan mengatasnamakan rakyat kecil mereka tidak setuju dengan kenaikan harga BBM yang tidak masuk akal itu. Mereka 'membela' rakyat. Oke, disinilah saya akan mengambil sudut pandang dalam posting ini, sebagi rakyat kecil dan miskin, bukan sebagai mahasiswa apalagi pemerintah. Saya akan mengajak semua elemen terutama para mahasiswa untuk merenungkan tulisan ini.

Saya suka dan apreciate dengan teman-teman mahasiswa (karena saya sendiri baru melepas status sebagai mahasiswa bulan lalu) mengenai kepedulian mereka terhadap kaum marginal, seperti buruh, tani, dan juga mahasiswa miskin. Kenaikan BBM memang memberatkan, dan ada banyak alasan untuk menjelek-jelekkan pemerintah, tapi akan lebih bijaksana jika sebelum kita mendemo pemerintah, kita lihat diri kita sendiri. Bahasa modernnya introspeksi. Berapa banyak dari kita, pekerja dan mahasiswa yang mengendarai mobil? Dimanakah anda mengisi BBM jika mobil anda sudah kehabisan energi? Dari yang saya lihat mobil-mobil tersebut pasti mengisi BBM di SPBU, jarang saya melihat mengisi di warung pengecer. Pertanyaannya, apakah anda yang bermobil mengisi BBM dengan BBM yang bersubsidi, ataukah dengan yang non-subsidi, seperti pertamax misalnya? Jika anda mengisi dengan BBM yang ber non-subsidi, anda boleh tidak melanjutkan membaca postingan ini. Tapi jika anda mengisi bahan bakar mobil anda dengan BBM yang bersubsidi, coba anda renungkan.

Orang yang bermobil notabene adalah kalangan menengah ke atas, dan jelas bukan warga miskin. Dan subsidi tersebut hanya untuk warga miskin. Jadi jika anda membeli BBM bersubsidi, secara langsung anda mengambil 'jatah' orang miskin (yang katanya anda bela dan sering digunakan politisi untuk berkampanye). Dan muncul pertanyaan baru, berarti jika anda melakukan demonstrasi menentang kenaikan BBM, siapa sebenarnya yang anda bela? Apakah benar-benar kepentingan rakyat kecil atau kepentingan golongan menengah ke atas? Coba anda renungkan.

Más te emocionará saber que ya está listo para descargarse un demo que te permitirá jugar con tres autos diferentes en tres pistas. Only tired the demo once. Got a little frustrated. Its one of the games if you hit some thing or another car you spin out and fall back to last place. That drives me nuts. I was hoping for a little more arcade action. How ever I will give it another try. The game looks great, just like DiRT. The car damage is top notch too. Over all its a pretty hefty demo worth checking out.

PC Demo is available now as well. A 894mb download, the PC demo also includes three tracks and three cars.

Codemasters have resolved the aforementioned game-breaking bug, though it has not been extensively tested - if your computer spontaneously combusts it's on you for using pre-release code

In modalità singleplayer, la demo conterrà alcuni personaggi e ambientazioni che poi ritroveremo all'inizio del gioco completo, mentre per il multipalyer, ci accontenteremo della modalità Rush Mode (all'interno della Oasis Map). La demo, purtroppo, per ora, sarà disponibile solo in territorio americano e sarà scaricabile solo dagli utenti che hanno effettuato il pre-order.

Saiu ontem o demo do futuro lançamento GRID na Live do Xbox 360. Fiquei um pouco ocupado e não tive tempo de testar tudo, mas o pouco que vi, eu gostei.

GRID é da mesma equipe dos criadores de DIRT, excelente game com corridas na terra. A física do novo game ficou muito bacana, os efeitos de fumaça dos pneus e gráficos estão soberbos e o desafio ficou bem equilibrado, não muito fácil e nem muito difícil, pela corrida que participei no demo. Ele também vem com a possibilidade de uma partida online. Testei também esta opção e flui direitinho sem lags e sem nenhuma reclamação a fazer. Os menus dos game também estão bem maneiros, idênticos ao jeitão do DIRT e com um narrador falando sempre que uma opção é selecionada.

Uma opção que achei impressionante é nunca corrida, e acho que apenas no single-player, quando se dá uma batida muito forte, a tela para, fica vermelha e dá a opção ao jogador voltar, como se fosse rebobinar uma fita VHS no videocassete, bem no ponto em que você se descontrolou, evitando assim a batida. O_O Sensacional esse efeito.

A opção de replay também ficou muito bom, porque dá para ver em velocidade rápida, dando uma bela impressão de velocidade, ainda mais se você posicionar a camera do game sem o carro. O_O

O game parece muito promissor. Já é cofre na certa! XD

My band is currently circulating a four-song demo, but I haven't sent it out to any record labels yet because it sounds like what it is: a demo recorded for a few hundred bucks. We want to show labels that we have our shit together as a group, and I think having awesome gear and a really nice-sounding demo would help prove that. We're saving up money to buy better gear and make a crisper recording, but how much does production quality matter when shipping out demos? What do we need to show labels in order to prove that we do, in fact, have our shit together and are ready to make this band our careers?

Dear Demo Shop’n,

Getting a band signed has always been, well, interesting to say the least. I have seen bands get signed over anything from someone leaving a demo in a bathroom to someone at a label thinking a band was a totally different band at first. The jist is that sometimes it just seems like dumb luck, and of course it always feels like other bands have more money to invest then you do, better connections, better hair cuts, etc. You get the idea; in band life the grass is always greener. So how much does production quality matter? What do record labels look for? To answer those questions I went straight to the top to get some feedback.

First, I turned to the person I've known the longest who works at a record label. Wouldn’t you know it just happened to be the founder and owner of Victory records, Tony Brummel? Tony took some time out of his day to give me some feedback to pass on to you.

I asked Tony how much demo production matters to him when he’s thinking about signing a band. Tony replied, “It depends on the band but, if someone has the gift they can hear magic from a boom box recording. More importantly seeing the band is the best “DEMO.” Seeing is believing. Trust me you can even ask the dude.” Tony is of course referring to the signing of my metal band, Darkest Hour. It wasn’t a demo or even a CD that really got us signed. It was our live show for Tony and the Victory staff that sold us.

On whether production value is more important than songwriting Tony answers, “Songwriting, its all about the band. I always try to make the decision after seeing a band. With Protools and today’s current recording technology I have heard a lot of great demos and then ended up seeing a very mediocre band.” No doubt that Tony is right on that point. Computers have given artists many tools and at the same time given those same artists many crutches.

I also reached out to another friend of mine, Josh Grabelle, founder and owner of Trustkill Records. Josh was kind enough to write us some thoughts on what he looks for when signing bands:

“The bottom line is this is all about the music, it has never been about how GOOD it sounds recorded, after all, a band should be reaching more people with their live show than they reach with their recorded music. When I got into punk and hardcore in the late 80s, the records I loved back then sounded like TOTAL SHIT. I didn't care at all though, I loved it. Again, it's about the music and the feeling you get, not the production or how many hours you spend on pro-tools with auto tune. In the early days of Trustkill I would sign bands that didn't even HAVE demos, let alone shitty sounding demos... it was about the music. Now, 10 years later, any band can record a demo, the shit is so easy my Grandma could do it with Garageband.”

Keep in mind you still need to be competitive... Now a days you can't just send in that boom box recording, it has to at least sound like the band does live. Josh expanded on this point by saying;

“To say that the QUALITY doesn't matter isn't entirely true. If I open up 50 demos in one day and one of them sonicaly kicks the shit out of everything else, what does that tell me? Either these are a bunch of rich kids, OR, more likely, these kids take their ART and their BAND very seriously. THIS is what we are looking for, a band made up of kids who are willing to throw it ALL away for their band, give up their life, their jobs, their girlfriends, to get quality gear and truly get a grasp on what it takes to record music in the proper way. So, do you NEED to have a PERFECT sounding demo to send to a label? No. But if you want to compete against the other 10 bands in your high school, or the other 10,000 bands in the country, you should put in the extra work.”

There it is that ugly word right at the end: work. It’s almost as ugly as 'practice' but the fact that it shows up a lot in this column, has to mean something right? Anyway, it's clear that record labels are looking for a band that can play a good live show, that spends it's time working on songs and music, rather then buying amps and looking on eBay for guitars. They are looking for dedicated, hardworking, musicians who are willing to risk everything. Why? Because a dedicated musician should be driven enough to go for it, no matter what the odds. My advice is read this letter and listen to that demo again. Do you feel like it’s a good representation of your band? Are the songs good? Are you confident your band can hold its own against other bands out there. If so, start shopping that bad boy and playing some shows. If you read this letter and change your mind about that demo then make sure your band is ready to slug it out. Practice and jam as much as possible till you find the sound that says you. Practice (MORE!) until you can play those songs with your eyes closed (this is so you don’t waste anytime when it comes to laying down those tracks). Then find a studio (but preferably someone who has recorded local bands, or bands for cheap. You don’t need to spend a million bucks just make it sound like a good representation of your band live). Take that demo and those songs on the road and share them with the world. Whether or not you sign that million dollar deal you have to always remember the reason your writing all theses songs and going through all the bullshit is to be able to share music with people. If your intentions are true and the music does speak to people, well then don’t worry, there will be plenty of record labels that will want to sign your band.

"No. The first student, bhOndOO, is still inside his room.".

"Who is the next actor?".

"Gullu.".

"Aikes! My code is dumping core!".

"Don't frighten me yaar, the code was working just now.".

"Why do you guys make changes to a working code, yaar!".

"No man. I was just formatting the code to look better. I think I deleted some line.".

"You are a nerd. You don't even know how to copy! Just change printfs. Sir does not look at the code.".

At this time, bhOndOO enters the lab. Everyone looks at him to hear how the demo went.

bhOndOO looks down, his voice low, "I would have felt very bad had I put in any effort in writing the code.".

Everyone is stunned to listen to an apparently contradictory-looking statement.

bhOndOO continues, "When I was showing the demo, he was sleeping!".

Everyone bursts into laughter.

"He asked me whether I handled losing connection from more than n/2 servers. I answered. After a minute, he again asked the question!".

"When I showed him the sequence of messages passing to-and-fro the client and the server, he leaned forward towards the screen and nodded. But it was actually a nod of sleep; his eyes were closed. He was yawning full-time.".

"What will he any way do, he gets to see the same demo every year by so many students!".

"I am curious to know who the original writer of the code is. May God bless him!".

"It has been around since ages. Seniors say that if you trace back, you may actually find that Prof Rajhans wrote it during his thesis.".

"By the way, did any of you run your program on algol machine just now?".

"Yes, I did. Why?".

"That is why I got port busy error. You didn't change even the port numbers while copying???".

BenJi smiles.

"So he is not looking at the code, right?".

"No, but he expects the output of netstat at the end of every connection. You guys add that.".

"Where to add it?". "How to add it?". "What is netstat?".

"Do system netstat. Those of you who do not understand, just add five-six printfs showing the output of ESTABLISHED connection.".

"Life is cool with DCS.".

"I am going to credit Prof Rajhans's other course next semester.".
