And this is probably one of the only "Top Animated Films" lists that won't include Snow White or Bambi. I'm sorry. Just because something is old, or "the first", it doesn't make it good. Or interesting. In my less-than-humble opinion, Snow White is one of the most overrated, boring films to come down the pike. But Ed, you might say, It was a technological breakthrough in animation. It was the first of its kind. Yea, well, just because something is different doesn't mean its good. Just ask Paris Hilton's parents.

So here we go. The best in animation, according to me....

10. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
There is a moment in this film that always blows me away. Jack Skellington has gone off to become the new and improved Santa Claus and his #1 fan Sally is home lamenting because she knows something's not right. While Sally is singing her ballad she steps through a gate and swings her head to the side. That moment right there is so smooth...so perfect...it's almost hard for me not to believe it's not a person in a big Sally costume. And there's also the Oogie Boogie song.

9. Flushed Away
I'll admit it. I haven't liked anything else this guy has done. And yes, that includes the Wallace and Gromit series. So my expectations for this were pretty low. Not only did this movie blow me out of the water, it also made Kate Winslet more attractive. The fun action peppered with jabs at America (and the UK) cracked me up. This movie probably would have ranked higher on my list if the characters didn't look so much like those Wallace and Gromit idiots.

8. The Prince of Egypt
Like The Nightmare Before Christmas, there's one scene in this film that sticks in my head, but with a much larger emotional attachment. It comes at the climax of the film when Moses parts the Red Sea. That whole scene...the animation as the water rushes into the sky, the swelling music...and then the eerie silence...it gives me chills just writing about it and gets my heart beating like Ed Grimley in the presence of Pat Sajak.

7. The Emporer's New Groove
How is this cartoon not more popular than it is? Hey, I'm not the biggest David Spade fan either, but when he's on, he's on. And in this film, he's on. Emporer's plays like a Disney film done by the kids of the filmmakers: sick and tired of the schmaltz and cheese, they're gonna show us that cartoons can be sarcastic, too. A cartoon that knows it's a cartoon and says What the heck. Let's just have fun with this one.

6. The Simpsons Movie
Admit it. You were just as shocked into hysterical laughter as I was to see Bart's junk.

5. Shrek
I can still remember thinking to myself Cartoons aren't supposed to be this irreverently funny while I was in the theater holding my side trying to stop laughing so I could hear the next joke. Like The Emporer's New Groove, Shrek takes the world of children's stories and pokes it in the eye as it dumps ice cubes down its shirt.

4. The Incredibles
Are you kidding me? Superheroes more believable than their Marvel or DC cousins, an amazingly animated landscape, harrowing action (it's hard to beat that jungle chase scene), all delicately painted around a couple struggling to keep their marriage together...wow. Well done, Pixar.

3. Aladdin
Just the fact that the animators were able to keep up with Robin Williams' mile-a-minute freestyle is a feat in itself. Disney loves putting our heroes in a spot where you think There's no way they can get out of this. But when I watched this, I remember saying OK really, there's no way he's getting out of this one. One of these good guys is gonna die.

2. Finding Nemo
Man, when things come together at Pixar, they really come together, don't they? Everything from the casting down to the most intricate detail in a random air bubble was spot on. This is one of the few films you could pop into your player, press pause at any random spot and the image frozen on your screen will be the very essence of art. You'd just look at it and say Wow. That's beautiful. And hey, any film that is clever enough to incorporate the old Monty Python "Bruce" sketch gets extra credit.

1. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Only Steven Spielberg would be able to get Warner Brothers and Disney to shake hands and agree to let their greatest cartoon characters appear side by side in the name of good moviemaking. Considering this was done before the computer animation technology we have today, it's amazing how they got this film to work.
Yes, those are actual guns and beer bottles floating around in the air, not CG recreations, and the way they orchestrated the chaos in the Ink & Paint Club is beyond me. Roger Rabbit is a movie that loves movies and is a love letter to an era that may be gone but won't soon be forgotten.

Yay for cartoons.

So yeah, The Dark Knight is ………… Pretty F”£king Awesome. I mean I love the Tim Burton Version of Batman, Joel can suck a big one for this efforts but Chris Nolan has save the summer for me with this movie. After the good but not great Indy film and Iron Man being good but I know the sequel going to be good and other films like The Hulk and Hancock just been ok.

I remember a review years ago for Blade Two and Aintitcool calling the movie a blow job of a film. The Dark Knight and I am sorry if people under 16 read this review, Is the full blown monkey dance with Dita Von Tesse (If you do not find her hot there is something wrong with you) of a movie.

I am not going to write anything about the plot because you just have to see the film. Most people know the bad guy is the Joker and Harvey Dent in the movie and so on.

Anyway why is The Dark Knight so good because it a crime film not a superhero movie. I will just to explain myself. The idea of Batman was he was a detective in some respects but it the movies by Burton he did a little bit but most of the time he waited until the moment he can just fight them to be honest.

In Nolan version Batman follow a case and build it up to bring the person to justice and if he has to hunt them down he will. He want to criminal world to do it time. Nolan uses the idea of Batman as a detective so he can create a crime thriller.

It hard to review this film in words to be honest because I do not want to spoil anything about the plot to be honest.

So I will talk about the actors and the performances they gave in this film.

Christian Bale is great in this movie, I like how Nolan play up the idea of the rich playboy when Wayne is out with the public but privately with Alfred he jokes and tell him how he feels. As Batman is great as well, He just fit the part, He knows how to work all the sides to the Wayne/Batman Character.

Sir Michael Caine is great as Alfred, He also play the part to great affect. Alfred is funny, insightful and a good listener. It show Alfred to be a father figure to Bruce, he might be the hired help but he is much more to Bruce and The Batman.

At this point you guessing I am going to say everyone is great and they are. It seem Film Makers have got it right with casting people in Comic Books films, they just do not have to look good but they got to act the part as well.

Maggie Gyllenhaal (My future wife I hope lol) is a good replacement for Mrs Cruise. I felt in Batman Begins I could not believe Katie Holmes to be a lawyer or in fact a assistant D.A because it was Katie Holmes from Dawson Creek. I know that sound cruel but it how I felt at the time. Ms Gyllenhaal look the part as a lawyer and love interest to both Wayne and Dent. She feel to bring more emotion to the role than Mrs Cruise.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent (Later Two Face) is one of the best thing in the movie to be honest. He going to be over shadow by Heath and that understandable but I can not take everything away from his performance. Dent is a the bright light of Gotham and Batman see this and believe him to be the true hero of Gotham. Eckhart give the character warm and make you believe that he want to change the City for the better, he got some issues with Gordon. When he become Two Face, Eckhart gives a stunning performace in my opition, it dark and edge and angry and switch personally with great effect. Eckhart is great (that all I can say because again you just got to see the film)

Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox is a good as well, He is Batman Q to be honest, creating new suits and weapons and gadgets, Freeman play him straight down the line. A friend to Bruce who can make a good joke but at the same time warns Bruce about getting too much power.

Gary Oldman as Gordon is soild as per usual, (I love Gary Oldman, he been in some of favourite films like Leon) Gordon is the moral point of the film to be honest, he a good cop who trust Batman to the end of the world and know he the hero of Gotham if no one wants to know. Gordon in a weird way is the sane member of the good guys. Dent will stop at nothing to get the job done as the D.A and Batman is on the same page but uses different methods to get the job done. Gordon has a family and a life he wants to protect so he go along with plans but remember he has people who love him and he does not want them to get hurt.

Anyway Here the big one

Heath Ledger as The Joker. What can I say about him, Ledger is the best actor in the film and I am going to say this better than Jack in the Burton version and the best performance ever of a comic book character to the point where I forgot The Joker was a comic book character and just thought of him as a psycho in the same respects as Alex in Clockwork Orange or Patrick Bateman in America Psycho. The Joker is a anti-hero and I know that sound strange because he a bad guy but The Joker is so twisted and got balls of steel (Just watch the meeting scene in the movie and you see why). Joker want to cause chaos and mayhem and take over the city and is always one step ahead it seem. He the polar opposite to Batman. Put it this way, It not hype because Ledger die at the start of the year.

He is the best actor in the movie and the best actor as a comic book character. Him and Eckhart create two characters which just adds a whole new dimension to the Batman series of movies.

Anyway, just see the film, it great, I am going to see it on IMAX at some moment in London. Nolan, Nolan, Goyer, Bale, Ledger and everyone else who make or starred in this movie has make a great movie because this is not just a superhero movie. It a great crime thriller and character study which happen to have Heroes and villains in it from the DC universe.

Please take note writers of the next Superman movie.

Desde que Geoff Johns dejó Flahs hace 4 años aproximadamente para dedicarse a otros títulos, el título fracasó rotundamente cambiando de equipo creativo de manera tan rápida como el personaje. El próximo año Geoff Johns con Ethan Van Sciver harán la miniserie The Flash Rebirth.

Johns comentó en Newsarama acerca de sus própositos de la serie, el principal siendo, regresar a Flash como un pilar del Universo DC como lo hizo con Hal Jordan. Por lo que falta para que salga el cómic, además del papel de Barry en Final Crisis no  se comentó mucho del contenido de la miniserie, simplemente que Allen es el principal y se recorrerá su historia y su relación con los otros Flash.

Sin embargo, a diferencia de Green Lantern Rebirth, no se sabe sí relanzarán el título de Flash al concluir la mini-serie o si Johns estará a cargo.

El panel de Dc Comics se presentó hoy en la Comic-Con de San Diego con la participación de Dan Didio, los editores Ian Sattler, Jann Jones y Mike Carlin, los escritores Keith Giffen, Greg Rucka, Peter Tomasi, Bill Willingham, James Robinson, Judd Winick y Geoff Johns, el artista Ethan Van Sciver y el Vicepresidente de Ventas Bob Wayne. Los temas tratados, entre varias bromas de los panelistas, fueron:

• El panel inició con una discusión de lo que a los fans les gustaba de Final Crisis. Nada relevante fue dicho en esta parte.
• La audiencia abucheó a Jason Todd cuando se les preguntó si querían verlo tomar el manto del murciélago.
• Kevin Smith apareció como invitado para hablar de su mini serie de Batman que durará de Noviembre a Enero. "Estoy haciendo una miniserie de tres números de Batman. Iniciará cinco años en el futuro y terminará seis años adelante. Juré que tendría hechos los guiones incluso antes de que arrancáramos. He escrito dos guiones, tengo uno más que hacer, lo terminaré cuando mi hija cumpla dieciséis. Walt Flanagan se encargará del arte. • Robinson volvió a declarar que Jack Knight no regresará como Starman.

• Respondiendo a una pregunta de un fan sobre qué salió mal con Countdown, Didio respondió "¿Que salió mal con Countdown, que salió mal? Tu dime. Cada uno de nosotros trabajó tanto como pudo en esos libros. Algunos lo disfrutaron, otra gente no. Quiero saber lo que piensas que salió mal con él". Eso provocó la mención de la falta de sincronía entre Death of the New Gods y Countdown con Final Crisis, pero no hubo ninguna respuesta concreta más que Dc intentó sincronizarlos pero no pudo.
• Johns djo que estaba trabajando con Robinson y Sterling Gates en Supergirl para hacer a los súper libros "más cohesivos, pero accesibles".
• Rucka dijo que Final Crisis: Resist tendrá a Ryan Sook trabajando en el arte.

All I've been doing all week is just trying to get to tomorrow.  Tomorrow is Friday.  Tomorrow is our moving day.  Tomorrow is the day we say goodbye to Suburban Maryland life and embrace our little basement apartment in Capitol Hill.

Apparently the Powers That Be decided it would be fun to make this day a little bit of a pain.

We'll start with the backstory that I am sick.  Patrick got very sick this past week, which required doctor visits, an Amoxicillen prescription, and tons of other mediciations.  After a few days, I caught what he had.  He's doing much better now, but I'm enjoying fevers, coughing, a destroyed throat, severe nasal congestion, and migranes.

My current state of health has made me dread our moving adventure tomorrow, but I didn't realize today was going to be such a nightmare.

I had a work engagement tonight, however, so I headed to the Metro.  (Tonight was also the 3rd week for a kickball division I run for my job.)  Outside of the Metro station, I threw up.  In front of the rush hour traffic; at least 100 people coming out of the station.  It was into a trash can, but it was incredibly embarrassing.

I had a very heavy box of t-shirts to bring with me tonight to distribute among the players. I got to carry that box from Patrick's office (where the box of shirts was living) to the closest Metro stop.

Inside the station, I was met with Annoying Children who would not get out of the way.  They were absolutely fascinated with the turnstyles.  I said "Excuse me," a number of times and they still didn't move.  Eventually, after a word with their mother, she apologized and they moved.  (It sounds a lot more polite than it actually was, sadly. I was in no mood.)

I finally got myself and the box in a seat on the train headed to the Smithsonian stop.

I have a piece of advice for all of you out there.  If you see someone carrying a heavy box while you're out, please try to refrain from exclaming "Man, that looks heavy!" as you walk on by.  I heard that at least seven times (I actually stopped counting after that) starting on that very train.

No kidding, it's heavy.  I know this.  You're not helping by pointing out the obvious.  You saying that just makes me want to Hulk Smash you over the head with the box and then smother you with pink kickball t-shirts.

I finally got off the train at my stop.  I head a fun trek ahead of me; Smithsonian to the back of the Washington Monument.  Just me and my giant box.  I was exhausted, sick, tired, and achey but I had momentum.  I was ready to make my trip.

Until I was approached by the police halfway to the monument.

"Ma'am, can you come with us, please?"

Apparently carrying around an open box of t-shirts with giant kickball logos on them was considered highly suspect.  I was questioned.  My box was searched.  I was told that since I was heading towards the monument I needed to take the shirts OUT of the box and carry them the rest of the way.

So my box was confiscated, after I was let off with a warning... for carrying shirts.

Being sans box made the rest of the way to the kickball games super fun.

Thank you DC Police for doing your job.  You kept everyone safe from Liz the T-Shirts in a Box Bandit!

Sony Online Entertainment presentó en ayer en el Comic-Con de San Diego un adelanto del juego Dc Universe Online, donde aparecieron el Presidente SOE John Smedley, el Vicepresidente de Desarrollo John Blakely, el Director Creativo del Estudio Chris Cao y el Director Creativo Ejecutivo Jim Lee. Lo que dijeron sobre el juego es más o menos lo mismo que las veces anteriores, resaltando lo siguiente:

Al preguntárle sobre la creación de personajes personalizados, Chris Cao explicó que habrá dos formas diferentes de crear un avatar para el juego: un "método de forma libre" que es completamente personalizable y un "método inspirado" que permite que conceptos basados en temas sean utilizados lo cual permite al jugador se "como Batman si quieren serlo". [...]

Preguntas fueron hechas con respecto al contenido basado en equipos/redadas - con posibilidades de que los jugadores se agrupen en equipos de 4 a 6 con el potencial para grupos de redadas más grandes para experiencias mundiales - Cao nombro la Tumba de Isis como una área potencialmente basada en redada. Cao y Lee hablaron sobre la habilidad de ganar acceso al Salón de la Justicia via la reputación y experiencia ganadas a través del juego. [...]

Finalmente, cuando se le preguntó sobre el incentivo de jugar Dc Universe Online y que hacía en verdad la experiencia única a los MMOs, Cao dijo "La lista de lo que no se puede hacer en otros juegos llega a ser bastante ridícula; en Dc Universe Online - las físicas son lo que tu eres. Si tomas un autobús y lo avientas - todo el mundo alrededor de ti mejor se mueve... o van a salir lastimados. Es una verdadera experiencia de súper héroe. [...]

También hay capturas de pantalla nuevas en el sitio Crispy Gamer. En ese sitio también nos podemos enterar de que no habrá opción de cambiar de bando en el juego cuando crees un gremio.

This Bastard reporter took a fieldtrip today and was lucky enough to happen upon a crowd of reporters on Capitol Hill listening to a speaker address the House Education and Labor Committee.

So, I decided I would listen as well, and this is what I heard:

"I want to have the respect of a congressman. Well, more respect than that, really.

“I want to talk like a congressman.  But without being two faced.

“And maybe, someday, I'll be a congressman!  But in much better shape than any my age!,” said none other than 60 year old fitness guru Richard Simmons to whistles and cheers from the audience.

“However I can be of use,” he continued,  “I’ll bust my little buns for this country!  I’ll work my pecks and abs so hard for you people, I might just burst outta my blouse!

“The next President will have to put a stop to our little fatties gorging themselves sick on junk foods!  He’s got to get their little fannies off the sofas and make them do some exercise!  That’s where I come in!

“I’m gonna shove this Congress in the right direction the way I shove food away from a fat lady’s face!  I’m gonna force this government’s hand the way I force a big fat fatty’s hand away from the donuts!  I’m gonna twist up this big country of ours the way I twist the wrist of an obese man with a candy bar!”

There were loud cheers and applause from the crowd, except for the really fat people.

Being somewhat overweight myself, I felt a bit depressed about my size, and decided to make the pain go away with a nice Hershey’s Bar I just happened to have in my pocket.

When a reporter somewhere near the front of the stage asked Mr. Simmons if he would really consider running for Congress, he responded as such:

“If my country wants me, and I mean really wants me, the way I wake up everyday and want to stuff my face until I need hospitalization, but don’t, because I worked so very, very hard to become so very, very thin and gorgeous, then I will work just as hard for this country!”
Someone then asked Mr. Simmons what he intends to do immediately following this stage address to prepare himself for the possibility of a Congressional position.

“After this hearing, I will go home, I will talk with my Dalmatian dogs, I will pray to God, and then I’ll see what else I can do to help the fat, fat fatties of this great country!”

Then Mr. Simmons took several bows to a standing ovation and skipped, danced, and leapt off the stage, exiting left.

All in all, considering the fat cats in power, this Bastard reporter believes Richard Simmons to be an excellent candidate to shore up Congress.

Та някъде секунда две, след като го изгледах (трейлъра) осъзнах, че очевидно съм пропуснал нещо доста интересно и започнах, да чета по-въпроса :)

Комикса Watchmen

Watchmen има 12 "епизода" издадени в периода 1986 - 1987 г от DC Comics. Автор е Alan Moore, а илюстрациите са на Dave Gibbons.

До днес Watchmen е единствената графична новела (комикс) която е печелила "Hugo Award" \връчва се всяка година за най-доброто SciFi или фентъзи произведение от предишни години\; и също така е единственият комикс който се е появил в класацията на Time Magazine "топ 100 на най-добрите новели от 1923 до днес" от 2005 година.

Действието в комикса се развива през 1985 година в алтернативна версия на САЩ, където "маскираните приключенци" (супер герой един вид) са реални, а страната е на ръба на ядрена война със Съветският съюз. Watchmen разказва историята на група от настоящи и бивши супер герой, и събитията обкръжаващи мистериозното убийство на един от тях. Новелата изобразява така наречените супер герой, като съвсем реални хора който постоянно се сблъскват с етични и лични проблеми, и се боряд с невроза и депресия, и който (с едно ясно отличимо изключение) не притежават никакви "супер способности". Watchmen определено поглежда по-един различен начин на конвенционалният супер-геройски образ.

Комикса е направен много интересно и по един изключително елегантен начин комбинира чисто филмови техники и сериозно използва силата на символизма, създавайки многопластов диалог който е истинско удоволствие да бъде четене. След като прочетох първите 2 книжки, определено разбирам защо са му дали "Hugo Award" :)

Филма Watchmen

Ако все още не сте достигнали момента на еуфория и не чакате с огромен интерес, ще ви кажа само едно име - Zack Snyder е режисьора! Не мисля, че има нужда да припомням, но той е човека който седи зад филма "300"
Има ли нужда да казвам нещо повече, освен че премиерата в САЩ е на 6 март 2009?
Не знам за вас, но на мен от трейлъра ми лъха на ултра кулнес :) а на базата на прочетеното в първите две книжки от комикса, смятам че филма доста плътно ще следва оригиналната история.

Играта Игрите Watchmen

Да няма да е една, а ще бъдат поне две два епизода.
Какво се знае до сега? Разработва се от Deadline Games... мда и аз сгърчих вежди. Все пак гугъл ми каза, че най-известната им игра е Total Overdose...
Освен това официалният им сайт ми каза, че въпросните бачкат по някакво ново заглавие - "Faith and a .45" на което ще ви покажа трейлър... сега :)

Но да се върнем на Watchmen. Заглавието трябва да е "епизодична афера", като първият епизод ще излезе заедно с релииза на филма, а вторият с пускането на DVD-то. После ако имало успех, щели да правят още. Платформите на който ще можем да го играем са 3 - Xbox360; PS3 и PC като игрицата ще се разпространява съответно през Xbox Live, PlayStation Network и най-вероятно Steam за PC юзърите (или пък Games for Windows – LIVE?).
Сред малкото детайли е известно, че епизодите ще са прикюъл на филма/графичната новела и ще се развиват по-времето когато Rorschach и Nite Owl са партньори. Съответно ще управляваме един от двамата (или двамата в co-op) и ще се борим срещу престъпността.

Сценарият се пише от Len Wein а споменатият по-рано Dave Gibbons ще съблюдава процеса и ще дава акъл :)

Последното което ни вълнува (но е много важно) е рейтинга, който за щастие е Mature. ;)

Реално повече детайли по въпроса няма. Най-много ме притеснява факта, че Deadline Games имат само 8 месеца, и ще скалъпят нещо през пръсти (така като гледам може и само да моднат "Faith and a .45" малко и готово). Другият притеснителен факт, е че дори да имаха много време въпросните не са известни с особено култови игри :(

If he gets 7,500 votes (or if Bob Barr gets 7,500 votes for president within D.C.), the D.C. Libertarian Party will be a ballot-qualified party for the first time. The last time the D.C. Libertarian Party made a push to win 7,500 votes for any partisan office (other than just president) was in 2000. In that year, it ran Robert Kampia for Delegate. He polled 4,594 votes.

The advantages of being a qualified party include obtaining a tally of how many registered members that party has, as well as a presidential primary, plus a primary for other office. The only other nationally-organized minor parties that have ever been qualified in the District are the Statehood Green Party currently, and the Socialist Workers Party, and the U.S. Labor Party, which had that status 1976 through 1978.

In the past weeks Flagship Studios has had its share of issues. Even though several employees have been laid off, the studio hasn't called it quits just yet. While the beta servers for Mythos have been closed,and Hellgate: London is not accepting new subscriptions (all current subscribers play for free), Namco Bandai tried to be reassuring saying that servers were up and that if anything were to happen players would be warned in advance.

Crytek Buys Black Sea Studios

The German studio announced today that it acquired Black Sea Studios officially becoming Crytek Black Sea. The terms were not disclosed but the Bulgarian studio based in Sofia is currently working on the promising Worldshift and we'll keep doing so as planned.

DC to Do Mirror's Edge Comic

Electronic Arts signed today with DC Comics in order to produce a six-issue comic that will focus on Faith, the protagonist of the eagerly awaited game. The project will feature Rhianna Pratchett (Heavenly Sword, Overlord) as the writer and Matthew Dow Smith (Supernatural: Origins) as the artist.
The first issue is to be revealed at Comic-Con.
