I don't think McCain should count on Dave's vote. Dave definitely is feeling played and rightly so. Not only do McCain have to play damaged control for his poor choice of rhetoric that have been inciting his base to a racial pitch, he also needs to do damage control to stop Dave from pouncing on him every night.

McCain is dishonest and what he did to Dave was uncalled for. But Davie also had comments for the current administration as well.

It begins at the 3:46 mark.

In what must be Round 6 or 7 for David Letterman by now, last night he absolutely lit into John McCain, this time calling him, QUOTE, "squirrely," which is just another way of saying that he's "erratic."

You may have heard that John McCain now wants to go back on Letterman's show, after previously having stood him up for Katie Couric on the day he fake-suspended his campaign.

Much like Sarah Palin now wanting to go on SNL, McCain recognizes that Letterman may not stop these angry rants any time soon, so it's probably best to go back on the show, kiss Letterman's ring, and try to stop the bleeding.

In addition to the "squirrely" comment, Letterman also lowers the boom by saying: "I just don't know if we can trust him" -- a line which could have been lifted straight off the Obama campaign's daily talking points.

So let's recap: McCain lies to Letterman, blows him off to go play on the tire swing with Katie Couric. Letterman gets pissed and dedicates multiple shows to blasting McCain's dishonesty. McCain now decides to come groveling back to Letterman, who knows he's really forcing McCain's hand because he keeps saying that "the road to the White House runs straight through here."

How's that old saying go -- "never get in a war of words with someone who buys ink by the barrel." Same shit here.

In recent weeks, David Letterman has not become one of the biggest proponents of Barack Obama. How

In recent weeks, David Letterman has not become one of the biggest proponents of Barack Obama. However, he has become very anti-McCain. The reason for this is that John McCain was slated to be on the show in late September. He canceled one hour before the show because he was 'going back to Washington to deal with the financial crisis'.

It turns out that Senator McCain actually stayed in New York that evening. He actually interviewed with CBS's Katie Couric that same evening he was supposed to appear on Letterman. Since then, Letterman has gone on the attack of the Arizona senator and his vice president, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. He has been making jokes ranging from McCain's age to Palin's simpleton persona.

My question is...Can David Letterman turn the tide of an election? With this aggressive offensive attack on John McCain, the polls have actually gone in favor of Obama. Could David Letterman stir the drink that puts Barack Obama in the White House? If McCain cancels on Letteman, could he possibly cancel that abruptly on a person like oh lets say...Vladimir Putin? Granted, McCain has rescheduled himself to appear on the Late Show so he can save face. But putting aside Johnny Boy trying to save his image, can we trust him not to cancel that abruptly on someone of the likes of oh lets say....Vladimir Putin? Letterman is doing a good job of sticking it to John McCain after his cancelation. It is very possible that David Letterman could turn states like Virginia and North Carolina, strong Republican stalwart states, to the blue column come November. Only time will tell. We are 25 days away from the election. Heres hoping he continues to echo the voice of change.

The emergency bailout you and I paid for has not worked so far. Credit markets remain frozen because banks are mortally afraid to lend in this environment. Smart people are predicting a "severe global recession." Republicans, predictably, are blaming poor people (read: blacks & Latinos) for our current financial woes, meanwhile economists are blaming Alan Greenspan for letting market forces run free for 2 decades.

The securities at the heart of the subprime mortgage crisis are so complicated that they're having to bring in an aerospace engineer who used to design satellites for NASA to unravel them. True story.

Nancy Pelosi wants to pass another stimulus package this year, this time totaling $150 billion... whatever it's our money anyway, but you know what this means: more PORN!

McCain's big plan to save homeowners, aside from being a bald-faced flip flop from his earlier position on "the role of government," would also end up rewarding the very people who helped get us into this mess. According to the (liberal) Wall Street Journal: McCain's proposal "also could make winners out of investors -- including predatory mortgage lenders -- that the Bush administration and Congress have tried to exclude from the government's largess."

Republicans in Congress are bracing for annihilation this year at the polls.

63.2 million people watched Obama dismember John McCain at the presidential debate this week from Nashville. That's 21% more people than watched the first debate, but 10% less than the number of people who watched Joe Biden try his best not to laugh at the ignorance of America's Cocktail Waitress last week.

Obama pushes back against the revved up GOP smear machine, calling this a desperate 11th hour ploy and saying, in effect, that 'John McCain should say whatever he's got to say to my face.'

Running low on ideas, as Republicans perpetually are, they've now taken to claiming that Obama talks in an "exotic" way.

McCain's BFF, Paris Hilton, is back on the air with another video in support of her fake Presidential campaign, only this time she somehow convinced one of America's greatest presidents ever, Jed Bartlett, to give her advice. Pain...ful...to...watch, and I'm sure that a little part of me just died inside.

And David Letterman's Top Ten Signs The Campaign Is Getting Ugly:

10. Three times Straight Talk Express has 'accidentally' knocked over Obama's mailbox.

9. Next debate will be moderated by Jerry Springer.

8. McCain keeps referring to opponent as Senator Barack Hussein Obama bin Laden.

I took time away from the constant media coverage of both Senator McCain and Senator Obama. I found my days a little less busy, alittle more quite time for catching up on none politically driven friendships and some laid back time with new friends. I found I didn't miss much, the elections coverage seem to be where I left it, on every channel except the animal planet, which I think campaign ad would have tried been placed, if they could just figure out the right angle.

Could the nation be ready for political ad placement on none news generating outlets like, the Animal Planet, what would they prose Senator McCain would rally against, support for our big city zoos?, Would Senator Obama have to wage a stance on over spending of tax dollars on color coded coating for the wire fencing around the donkey (blue) and elephant (red) exhibits, because the red dy no. 3, 27 & 28 are known to be toxic to children, I think it is just beagles for no.27, but you may look it up, as don't claim to know everything, which allows room in the corner of my mind to learning about new toxicities in our ever changing world.

Is it safe say that I didn't miss much, the VeeP Debate went as planned, no big surprises, except for Gov. Palin was demoted by Senator Biden, but I think he was the only one who realized that calling her a Senator offered her more experience, therefore the he, along with the hand feed press let that one go.

Oh and the Latest Presidential debate looked more like a Rowan and Martin spin-off, with Senator McCain goofing by Tom Brokaw... I thought that was funny. It just another day in "Payton Place", another hour of the "Days of our lives", and another nation under god's heaven, who's Livin' a Vida Loca, while taking another glance of as "The World Turns"

It's filmed at night and that's when witchcraft is most powerful.

It's on a Saturday and she will be sharing Shabbot with Jews for Jesus leader David Brinker.

It's a live show. Remember when Sinead O'Connor appeared on SNL?

It's in New York City and the state of Alaska has already told her that she cannot bill them for a per diem if she goes there.

Er ... she doesn't have a sense of humor about herself and they think she'll be a flop?

Her flute is in the shop getting repaired.

Madonna will be the surprise musical guest.

John McCain's been making goo-goo eyes at Tina Fey so Sarah's afraid to leave his side.

Todd is worried that she'll develop an affair of the heart with Lorne Michaels.

She'll be down the street getting ready for her interview with David Letterman.

Update October 11th: Let's add number 11 for luck. Do you think her reception will be any better than the one she received when she dropped the puck at the Philadelphia Flyers game? And I don't the SNL studio band will be able to drown out the boos.

Is McCain Bush's Bitch?
The Obama Campaign has claimed that John McCain has voted with President

[caption id="attachment_508" align="alignnone" width="133" caption="Is McCain Bush's Bitch?"][/caption]

The Obama Campaign has claimed that John McCain has voted with President Bush 95% of the time and, according to the Congressional Quarterley's assessment of McCain's voting record, that's a fact. I can't bear any more Bush. I'm bushed! So that 95% has me freaked. And apparently I'm not the only one. According to a USA Today/Gallup poll, two in three Americans are also freaking. We don't want a W's mini-me to take over. We're concerned that McCain's policies are Bush's policies and that McCain is just running for a third Bush term. Almost half -- 49% -- of us are "very concerned" that McCain is more of the same. He is. We should be worried. McCain was once his own man. Maybe he was even a "maverick" as he wont to boast. He hasn't always had his hand in the Dub's unzipped fly. Once upon a time he even balked at Bush. But no more. As Juan Cole said, "Both at home and abroad, McCain appears intent on abandoning some of his most deeply cherished personal values, including his commitment to secular values and distaste for religious bigotry, in favor of catering to the great W. coalition of white evangelicals and security-obsessed conservatives. Like Bush, his mantras are war and belligerence abroad." Well, that's worrisome. We don't want war and belligerence. We don't want a man who would abandon his values. McCain ran in 2000 as himself and lost. To Bush. This time he's running as Bush.

[caption id="attachment_511" align="alignnone" width="121" caption="Dr. Evil Squared"][/caption]

See that, we're obviously all bothered by the resemblance because while trolling for piks, I found that someone had photo shopped a Bush-McCain mini-me. Perfect for this post but otherwise, a sad state of affairs. In an article titled "Want more Bush? Elect McCain" Helen Thomas wrote

"Sen. John McCain is moving to the right. McCain also has gone out of his way to cozy up to President Bush after their bitter rift in the 2000 presidential campaign. McCain is a strong supporter of the invasion and occupation of Iraq and believes the number of U.S. troops there should be beefed up. He is against abortion rights and gun-control laws and believes students should be taught the religion-oriented "intelligent design" theory of creation as well as the theory of scientific evolution. With his "hail fellow well met" persona and tendency to jaw with the media and pundits in the back of the campaign bus, he has created the impression in some quarters that he is a "moderate." Forget it. His voting record speaks for itself."

America loves mythos. McCain's "Maverick" moderate POW good-soldier-hero white-man thang is something we wanna to hang onto. Some of us just can't give up the ghost. Meanwhile, McCain slipped into Bush's shadow with surprising ease. The gap between the mythos of McCain and the political reality is ever widening. After McCain cancelled his appearance on The Late Show, Letterman said, "This is not the John McCain I know, by God. This doesn't smell right. This is not the way a tested hero behaves. A hero. An honest to God hero, an American hero, maybe the only actual hero that I know. I've met the guy, I know the guy. So I'm more than a little disappointed by this behavior. 'We're suspending the campaign.' Are we suspending the campaign because there's an economic crisis or because the polls are sliding." Like Letterman, Margaret Cho gave voice to McCain's mythos and the ways that we struggle to hold on to it. Cho blogged, "I am not voting for McCain. I hope that is obvious. I am sick of every one saying – 'He was a good soldier. He was a good soldier. Um yeah. He was captured. So he was not that good." The facade is crumbling. If McCain doesn't honor who he used to be (or claims to be) then why should we?

In an amazing beautifully written Salon article titled "John McCain is George Bush" Jaun Cole wrote,

"In July of 2004, Bush abruptly announced that he was looking into whether Iran played a role in the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. The whole fantastic set of allegations was immediately denied by Bush's own intelligence officials. Hawkishness toward Iran was one way for Bush to take the focus off his failures in Iraq. Bush by his belligerence appealed to a combination of evangelical holy warriors and so-called national-security conservatives, and McCain seems poised to move in the same direction. Echoing Bush's fear-mongering about the Islamic world, which by August 2006, two years after his reelection, regularly included references to so-called Islamic fascism, McCain maintains that the "transcendent" challenge facing the United States in 2008 is "radical Islamic extremism." McCain alleges that "al-Qaida in Iraq" will "follow us home" if the U.S. withdraws from that country. McCain takes this line even though most Muslim countries are close allies of the United States and Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida has been revealed to be a small fringe, now in disarray. McCain himself has joked about bombing Iran, to the tune of an old Beach Boys song."

Remember that? Are you down with that? Do you want that in The White House? Do we want McCain's insensitive, impulsive, petty finger on the button. Bush's war has been a catastrophe. We can't afford another war-monger. Especially one who, by his own admission, has always aspired to be a dictator and who thinks we should occupy Irag for the next 100 years.

Bush's signature project has been the war in Iraq, which he has managed like a veteran Las Vegas magician, with a misdirection and legerdemain that can make a whole elephant disappear. Despite nearly 4,000 U.S. soldiers killed, 30,000 wounded, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, millions displaced internally and abroad, the creation of a new and serious terrorism problem, high fuel costs at home, and the entire lack of any obvious benefit from the whole endeavor to the American people, more than 40 percent of Americans now say the U.S. is making progress in establishing civil order in that country. McCain went to the same David Coppersmith School of Prestidigitation as Bush. He says he is dedicated to nothing less than complete military victory in Iraq and the maintenance of bases in that country for as much as a century, and his audiences do not appear to break out in derisive laughter. (Juan Cole)

Ha ha he he ha ha heeee ha ha hee hee ho ho. he he he. Snort. snort. Sob sob sob. boo boo hoo. boo! boo!

Surely lack of health insurance for tens of millions, loss of good jobs, blighted cities like Detroit and New Orleans, and erosion of key civil liberties are a more "transcendent challenge" than the activities of small cultlike groups that are finding it harder and harder to operate on the soil of Middle Eastern and European allies of the U.S. But that's not to say that McCain isn't pushing a domestic agenda as well. McCain does have a domestic agenda. It's George Bush's. If he is elected, it will be "Groundhog Day," the Bill Murray film about a character doomed to live through the same day over and over again. (Juan Cole)

Nooooooo! I hated that movie! I hated that President! I'm with Homer Simpson -- it is time for a change, Homey.

[caption id="attachment_512" align="alignnone" width="160" caption="Holy Suffering, BushMan!"][/caption]

When I was in England for my Junior year of college, a guy named Stevie Starr showed up at the campus and did a show in which he swallowed and then regurgitated items. For example, he swallowed a billiard ball, a lightbulb, change and an assortment of other things and then would bring them back up whole (he did these one-at-a-time).

Not sure why I was reminded of this (although it could have to do with all the burritos I've been eating while in San Francisco), but I was able to quickly find a video of this guy on Letterman.

I missed this last week, but the night after the vice presidential debate, Brian Williams was a guest on David Letterman, and they had quite an interesting conversation about the debate itself, Sarah Palin, and the state of the presidential race. It's in two segments, and in the second segment, Brian Williams makes a comparison between Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan that had occurred to me in a reflective moment. In a big way, Barack Obama may be for this generation of new and younger voters what Ronald Reagan was for the country in 1980.

At least Barack Obama supports better policies, so that, in thirty years, when we're in our 50's and 60's and invoking Obama's name every five seconds, we won't sound like such asses.

Ventura:
'a chi tocca nun s'engrugna' (cfr. I poeti del Duecento, Rizzoli, 2004)

Fazio.

' ah no!

-considerazioni generali sui problemi dell'universo

provvedo a dotarvi, come nelle migliori grammatiche latine,

Fazio: ''Salve, Megadirettore Galattico, sign.gran farabut. brutt.stronz. Evergesio Stinofetti,
Ospite: " Carissimo Fazio, probabilmente allora avranno avuto effetto catarifrangente!"
Fazio, Ospite, Pubblico (in delirio): "AHAHAHAHHAHAHA!"

(Foto: nessuno sconto.

If you like music made by musicians, as opposed to lip syncing beautiful people and pitch corrected

If you like music made by musicians, as opposed to lip syncing beautiful people and pitch corrected "bands", there's a good chance Mister FZ is already high on your list of all-time faves. But just to be on the safe side, here's a handful of the classics.

My best advice to the uninitiated, however, is to find a quality record store and buy anything you can find by the 20th century's finest American composer, the guitarists guitarist, Sir Frank Vincent Zappa and discover his music for yourself.

Florentine Pogen

An incredibly mean sounding incarnation of the Zappa band, featuring the immense vocal talents of Napoleon Murphy Brock, last seen playing in 2007 with the Zappa plays Zappa band.

City of Tiny Lights

Featuring the unmistakable vocal stylings of Adrian Belew, later of King Crimson and Terry Bozzio, bashing his skins for your twisted pleasure. Tiny is as tiny do!

G-Spot Tornado

As part of 'The Yellow Shark' Zappa assembled 'The Ensemble Modern' to perform original compositions which appeared in one form or another on his last album, 'Civilisation Phase 3'. This is a German TV appearance of the man himself conducting.

Sofa No. 1

Here's a nice fan-made clip to the sound of the original Sofa, with it's mad sub-synth bass line. The Michael Hedges acoustic guitar version of Sofa was played as a fitting tribute to Frank, on his website, when he died. I can't find it anymore, but if anyone knows where it is, please send it to me using the Mail link opposite. TIA

Cheepnis

Zappa plays Zappa is Dweezil, Frank's son, joined by the above mentioned Napoleon Murphy Brock and various ex-Zappa band members - touring the world to keep Frank's music where it belongs; live on stage played by the best of best musicians in the world.

Bobby Brown Goes Down

"I can take about an hour on the tower of power, so long as I gets a little golden shower."

Nightschool & You Are What You Is

Flawlessly beautiful chords, arranged on and played by the most expensive musical instrument money can buy, the synclavier. Frank won a grammy for this, the first all-digital album ever recorded (with the exception of the last track which was a live recording of the band playing Massaggio Galore). Clay animation by Bruce Bickford.

Interview on Letterman

The man himself talking about the London Symphony Orchestra vol 1 album.

Well, Sarah delivered her rehearsed training material the other night. Sarah can do that when she has enough rehearsal time, but don't try and distract her with probing questions. If it wasn't in her training script, she comes apart. She demonstrated this is her Katie Couric and Charles Gibson interviews and in the debate the other night. Sarah was perceived by her handlers to have scored a success in the debate because she didn't stray too far off message, didn't pass out or run for the curtains.

What low expectations we now set for the individual who is only a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Sarah is the perfect "Manchurian candidate".

She is only capable to talk to the points she has been programmed to, but her weak spot is when you get her down to the details. Then her programming fails her and she goes off message and out into orbit.

Her latest programming has her spewing lies about Senator Obama's association with William Ayers, something that was looked at extensively during the primaries by the New York Times, The Washington Post, Time Magazine and CNN to name a few and found to be totally misrepresented by the McCain camp (Obama was 8 years old when Ayers committed his terrorist acts).

But I forgot the McCain team only knows how to scare you. They don't know how to help you.

Gov. Palin, why don't you talk about the real issues?

Like the economy or the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, or the nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran and how you might address these most important issue faces Americans today...

Or didn't they put that programming in your head?
