Referencing one of pop-cultures most iconic super villains, The Vader Project recruits the world’s leading artists to each re-appropriate Darth Vader’s conventional black helmet into an art piece of their own. Recently touching down in Japan, over 10 regional artists including Bounty Hunter, T9G, Secret Base, Usugrow and DEVILROBOTS were all in participation alongside the other 90-some designs from around the world. The exhibition is part of Japan’s 30th anniversary Star Wars Celebration Japan taking place at Makuhari-Messe in Chiba, just outside Tokyo which runs from July 19th to the 21st.

Não, não vou escrever sobre política ou economia. Achei curioso o nome que a Polícia Federal usou para a operação que está em toda a mídia. Sabia que satya é "verdade", mas faltava o significado de agraha. Descobri que a tradução, neste contexto, é "caminho da verdade". E como "Zephyrus também é cultura", compartilho um texto que explica tudo direitinho, tirado do site do Estadão.

Esta história de escolha de nomes significativos é meio engraçada. Eu mesmo já passei por isso muitas vezes, inclusive, ao abrir blogs e escolher nicknames.

Há alguns meses, por sinal,  foi publicada uma charge, relativa ao Governo, em que uma operação importante não tinha sido deflagrada porque a equipe de criação ainda não havia escolhido um nome de impacto - piadinha de publicitário.

Na minha experiência profissional, sempre me divirto contando de um equívoco, literalmente, cinematográfico : uma grande empresa do mercado estava disposta a quebrar sua principal concorrente trabalhando com margem-zero até conseguir o seu intento. O superintendente, inflamado, reúne as principais áreas para um discurso de motivação no estilo "vamos acabar com eles!" e, em dado momento, abrem uma faixa atrás dele com o nome da campanha: O Império Contra-Ataca.

Enquanto todos eram levados a repetir a nova "palavra de ordem", os nerds da empresa trocavam olhares: na obra de Geoge Lucas que inspirou nosso querido superintendente - que nunca deve ter assistido o filme - o Império, é comandado por Darth Vader (o vilão do enredo), e PERDE para a Aliança Rebelde.  É claro que a operação não demorou 1 semana e tudo voltou ao que era antes, como se nada tivesse acontecido....

O nome escolhido pela Polícia Federal para a operação que resultou na prisão do banqueiro Daniel Dantas, do investidor Naji Nahas e do ex-prefeito de São Paulo Celso Pitta se inspirou na história política da Índia. Satiagraha é o termo usado pelo pacifista indiano Mahatma Gandhi durante sua campanha pela independência da Índia.

Em sânscrito, Satya significa "verdade". Já agraha quer dizer "firmeza". Assim, Satyagraha é a "firmeza na verdade", ou "firmeza da verdade". Gandhi foi um dos idealizadores e fundadores do moderno Estado indiano e um influente defensor do Satiagraha (princípio da não-agressão,

forma não-violenta de protesto) como um meio de revolução.

Satiagraha também é freqüentemente traduzido como "o caminho da verdade" ou "a busca da verdade". Historicamente, a atuação de Gandhi e seus conceitos também inspiraram gerações de ativistas democráticos e anti-racistas, como Martin Luther King e Nelson Mandela.

We've been watching Force Unleashed trailers for almost a year now and each one looks better then the next - this latest official launch trailer is the best yet for a few reasons.

The most important reason is that this trailer shows us some real plot - which is where this game will really excel - sure the game mechanics are awesome but the plot .....NICE.

The secret apprentice will FIGHT VADER!! CHECK out the final few frames of the trailer for yourself...

What an outstanding place to look for an apprentice.

While we're on the topic of old men in colourful cloaks - do you reckon Father Christmas could be a mutant? The evidence is overwhelming. Just read this summary from a wonderful discussion on the Comic Book Resources X-Men forum, with a nice reply from Marvel editor Nick Lowe. This is why I love being a fanboy. The depth of research is certainly impressive and the argument is an interesting one. What better way to celebrate Christmas in July than to have Marvel declare that the generous bearded one is a mutant! I mean, he wears a colourful costume, has a nifty Santa Mobile (or sleigh) a multitude of side-kicks (elves) and is able to travel at tremendous speeds while secretly helping those in need. Plus, he's mysterious. Now all he needs is a tragic origin and a top notch arch enemy and he can be fighting alongside Wolvie in no time.

We've been discussing this in the X-Forums of CBR. There have been two references that Santa Claus is a mutant. The first, which was dismissed, was in the "Generation X: Holiday Special” #1 where Jubilee sees St. Nick and just wonders if he is, in fact, a mutant. We dismissed that as, "Well, Jubilee is a moron."

However, in the "Marvel Holiday Special” of 1991, there is a story apparently written in continuity as right after "Uncanny X-Men” #97 and before the Christmas issue of "Uncanny X-Men” #98, where Cerebro detects a new highly powered mutant and Xavier sends out Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, Banshee, and Colossus to try and recruit the person. Simultaneously, the Brotherhood (Toad, Mastermind, Blob and Unus the Untouchable) sense the mutant as well, and both groups go and do battle with the prize being this new mutant as a member of their team.

Said powerful mutant is revealed to be a reality-warping mutant...who also happens to be Santa Claus. At the end of the battle, Santa explains that Christmas isn't a time to be worried about recruiting mutants, and uses his reality-warping powers to turn the naughty Brotherhood into action figures and teleports the X-Men to a location where they were supposed to meet Cyclops and Phoenix to go shopping.

Now, I ask you about this in hope that it will be rendered “not canon,” because if it is...

Santa Claus is not listed as one of the 198. Therefore, he lost his powers on M-Day due to the Scarlet Witch's magic. And if he lost his powers, well...Wanda Maximoff killed Christmas in Marvel-616. And I don't think that's an act she'll ever be redeemed of.

Hopefully, you can give us a straight answer to end this hilarious debate...we're running out of jokes to tell about it in the thread.

NL: We’ve been dreading the asking of this question. Now, please pledge that you’ll keep the answer of this confined to the CBR Boards. You make very good points, WorstBlogEver. But there’s a book that takes a lot of initiative when avenging things that has been dropping hints of another mutant that is “off the books.” I can’t rule out that Mutant Zero and Santa Claus aren’t two different people.

O foco do jogo é na utilização da força, e a história se passa entre o Episódio III e Episódio IV, que englobam duas décadas. Pelo vídeo, podemos crer que o foco mudou, agora controlaremos o aprendiz de Darth Vader, e veremos o lado sombrio da força, para depois ser convertido para o lado da luz. Este novo personagem inclusive, aparecerá também no jogo Soul Calibur IV, junto com Darth Vader ou Yoda, dependendo da plataforma.

O que eu pensava que seria bom, deve ser ainda melhor se considerando pelo novo trailer. O jogador não só terá a força do seu lado, como também seu sabre de luz, o que não poderia faltar, claro. E os movimentos aparentam ser muito realísticos, sem falar nos gráficos, que ficaram parecendo o filme mesmo, mas isso não poderei vivenciar, já que não tenho um Play 3 e nem um Xbox 360. Mesmo assim, com certeza aproveitarei bastante.

Tendo visto o vídeo posso com certeza dizer que este é o jogo mais esperado do ano pra mim. Além de se tratar de Star Wars, o que já garante que eu irei gostar, a jogabilidade parece ser sensacional.
Agora é aguardar o dia 16 de Setembro, que será marcado como o lançamento de 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed' para Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PlayStation 2 e PSP.

Det foerste vi gjorde da vi kom til Amsterdam, skrubbsultne, etter mange timer paa reisefot, var aa tar en tur paa Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam, hvor vi fikk tatt oss en svaer verdenskjent hamburger.

Etterpaa kom vi oss til hostelet vaart, som ogsaa tilfeldigvis var en baat og som fra utsiden saa ut som en 30 aar gammel, russisk fisketraaler, men som heldigvis var veldig mer koselig paa innsiden. Etter aa ha planlagt reiseruten hjemover, dusjet og tatt oss en ettermiddagslur, kom vi oss ut av baaten vaar og inn i sentrum av byen, hvor vi fikk oss et godt italiensk maaltid (jada, vi spiser italiensk ogsaa naar vi ikke er i Italia. Vi tror nok det blir en god stund til vi spiser italiensk igjen ;)).

Amsterdam er en veldig spesiell by, la det vaere klart. Vi kunne nesten ikke dra til Amsterdam uten aa stikke innom Red Light District, hvor vi fikk vaar kanskje mest absurde og spesielle opplevelse saa langt. Joda, vi visste hva vi gikk til, men aa se levende mennesker staa i undertöyet i utstillingsvinduer og lokke paa de forbipasserende var en utrolig fascinerende, men samtidig litt skremmende opplevelse. I tillegg kunne vi passere et utall med "coffeeshops" hvor man kunne sette seg ned, ta en kopp kaffe og kanskje en liten joint hvis man skulle önske det (ikke at vi gjorde det, da). Amsterdam levde virkelig opp til ryktet sitt som en liberal og veldig spesiell by.

Etter en god, men ganske kjölig, natts sövn paa hostelbaaten skilte interrailerne lag for godt. Mens Aslak, Eivind og Morten N tok et tidlig tog mot Danmark for aa besöke diverse slektninger, ble Morten J og Andreas igjen i Amsterdam, hvor vi skal ta tog mot Oslo om noen timer, for saa aa fly hjemover mot Tromsö. De ekstra timene i Amsterdam ble brukt til aa se oss rundt i byen, paa butikkene og paa folkelivet. Blant annet maate vi en hyggelig Darth Vader (veldig fine bilder kommer senere).

Det har vaert en kjempefin tur, som naa altsaa gaar mot sin slutt. Vi skal imidlertid ikke unnlate aa nevne at det er fem slitne kropper som vender hjem til Tromsö etter henholdsvis tre uker og en maaned paa reisefot. All reisingen har tydeligvis slitt litt paa immunforvaret vaart ogsaa da vi har begynt aa bli litt smaasyke.

Dette er kanskje siste post fra medieinterrailerne, men vi lover en fyldig og interessant oppsummering, med kaaringer og diverse snadder naar vi kommer hjem, saa fölg for all del fortsatt med!

The movie was fairly decent. If you had read the book beforehand like I did, then nothing in it was a surprise. I was already aware of the damming secrets revealed in the book that the Vatican has been trying to stifle for the last two thousand years. For example, Pontius Pilot was an avid cricket player and Judas enjoyed gangster rap music. This is why I can't understand why some many people have been up in arms about this movie. Even in Bahrain. I read that there were a few Christians in that country (seven in total) that petitioned the government to have the movie banned. See if this sinks in. A few Christians in an Arab Muslim country try to get a movie about Christianity's secrets banned. All I have to say to that is HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Of course their petition went about as far as a fat guy on roller skates.

The entire thing reminded me of the time when I first moved to Georgia. Upon crossing the state line, I saw a sign that read, "Welcome to Georgia. Set your watch back 40 years." And then the tune "Dueling Banjos" started playing. To this day, I still have no idea where the music came from. However, some coworkers told me that there had recently been, and I'm completely serious about this, Harry Potter book burnings. Yes, you read that right. A bunch of ultra-religious conservatives felt that Harry Potter was the devil incarnate, because he attends a school of magic. Saying that a children's story that inspires the youth of today to read books is satanic is just as stupid as eating breakfast cereal with chopsticks. We all know that Barney the Dinosaur is the devil.

These people, most of them back woods country folk, you know the types with four teeth, mullets, and a gene pool that someone peed in, went to the store, purchased dozens of copies of any Harry Potter book, and ritualistically burned them. The bonfire was reportedly high enough to see from Jim Bob's Tree Shack, which is just down the dirt road from Jethro's Tractor and Billiards Emporium, and right next to Helga's House of Humpback Hephers. When J.K. Rowling heard about the book burnings, I'm sure she cried about it all the way to the bank, getting a ride in a Waahmbulance. She probably even stopped at a McDonald's to order a Waahmburger with a side of French Cries.

The bovine-like masses shouldn't get their collective panties in a bunch over a novel. Sure, a senior Vatican official deemed "The Davinci Code" a sack of lies. But when you go to a bookstore, you find Dan Brown's adventure thriller where you find all the other sacks of lies...in the fiction section. Yes, "The Davinci Code" is a fictional story. Remember, other great works of literature like "The Great Gatsby" and "Green Eggs and Ham" are fictional. So if your faith is weak enough to be shattered by a fiction novel, not even Dr Phil can help you. So in closing, I think I'm going to go watch "Star Wars" for hidden messages so I can write a bestseller called "The Skywalker Code".

Teaching my 4 year old son that not everything on tv is real has been a challenge; so we made a little video to help him understand how it all goes down. With a 2 hour limit from script to screen we cranked it out. It was a blast & he learned a lot... But he still thinks that racking me is fun.
