Who needs to go to a dance club and spend all your money when you can just get your fix in the middle of the day. Like a 3 year old on the low end of a sugar bender, I can't really talk when I watch this show. I just trip out for 30 minutes which doesn't EVER happen. Check out the background on Biz's Beat of the Day. The Kool-Aid is even getting down at the Party In My Tummy. Nathaniel loves to cut a rug! It's seems the guy with the furry hat could have been in this Dee-Lite video.

Evidently, it isn't just a great week for electronic/dance music-- nor is the enthusiasm limited to The Hurst Review. According to MetaCritic, a site that compiles reviews from around the Web and even in print, the two highest-rated, best-reviewed albums of 2008 are The Bug's London Zoo and Steinski's Retrospective.

Ok, I'm officially one week late for my Top Ten but believe I have had a crazy week (and no, you really don't wanna know LOL)...

So without further adieu here is my latest top ten!

1) Praise to the JBs-ATFC--I heard this song last week and immediately knew that it was going to be in my top slot!! This a great song and will undoubtedly be a hit in the clubs for a while!

2) Open Your Heart-Dirty South & Axwell--Still a favorite of mine and everyone else's!! The song is masterfully done but what else can you expect from these two...

3) Touch Me-Chocolate Puma & Bingo P--WOW!! I love this song!! Alot of energy!! This is a primetime banger!!

4) Better Day (TV Rock Remix)-Dirty South & Paul Harris feat. Rudy--Now this tune has been out for a while but this remix makes a good song, great!!

5) Le Night Demoniator-Lina--I have to keep this in the top ten for two reasons. One, I still play this and get a great reaction and two, its FIRE!!!!

6) Electric Feel (Justice Remix)-MGMT--Mid-tempo banger for early in the night or early in the morning.

7) Children (Club Mix)-Dave Darell--Like I said in the previous top ten, this remix improves the song!!

8) Infinity 2008 (Klaas remix)-Guru Josh Project--I saw Moby play this at the Virgin Mobile Fest in Baltimore, the roof almost came off the tent!!

9) It's Love (Trippin')-South West Beats feat. Claudine Patrice--Hype Mix, Good Production and the singer sounds like Jill Scott=A Big Tune

10) Great DJ (Calvin Harris Remix)-The Ting Tings--Calvin takes a mediocre song and gives me a reason to play it...

Throwback Track of the Week--Tracey In My Room-EBTG vs. Soul Vision--I remember dancing to this song in Rhodes in 2000...It's one of those tunes you don't forget!!

Well thats it for this week!! Hit me with your comments and emails!!

[caption id="attachment_134" align="alignnone" width="199" caption="me at the silent rave"][/caption]

A man in a large costume that resembles a jar of mustard runs past me. As his yellow figure bobs oddly through a throng of sweaty, pubescent ravers, the crowd erupts into a cacophony of cheers. Somewhere, a voice shouts out. “Mustard man! Mustard Man!”. Then, a Japanese guy in a hat expertly designed in the figure of a chicken floats past. He spreads a pair of thin arms wide.
“Who wants to suck my cock?” he shouts. Behind me, a group of guys giggle. I stand in this chaos, snapping photos and floating quietly through the crowd. That’s the most interesting thing about this experience. Around me, hundreds of people are dancing excitedly. Bodies covered in sweat glisten under dimly lit New York street lamps. Tiny emo girls toss their dyed hair back and forth, strange shirtless guys do very homo erotic dances, and guys like the chicken man—there are a few of them around—all prance around, dancing to some quiet, unheard music. This is because they are dancing to their own music.
I’m at my first silent rave.
To see hundreds of people dancing with their telltale ipod headphones in their ears, all grinding to their own beat, is like seeing a music video on TV with the mute button on. But not only am I in this music video, but I’m an active participant, snapping photos, not trying to brush against too many of the girls present (many of them are teenagers). This would probably count as the second rave I’ve been to in the states. Like all raves, there are tons of very attractive women.
To my left, a Heidi Klum look alike wearing headphones straight out of an 80’s movie grooves beside her equally hot Asian friend. In front of me, a tall red head makes me think immediately of Berlin. All around, cute teeny-boppers, people with shaved heads, tatoos and t-shirts that read “I love NY” are all dancing.

Raving, in complete silence.
The silence is broken by screams which have no purpose. In rave music, people normally scream when the bass drops. Like most music, rave incorporates a specific tempo that keeps the crowd going for hours on end, ecstasy, cocaine or no. After a minute or so of the introductory song loop, a bass kick drops. This is where people scream and dance faster. Tonight, people are raving telephathically. The bass kicks in on one person’s headphones, and they broadcast it to everyone else with a scream. This spreads through the crowd like wildfire—people jump, run around and even mosh—and then the silence falls once more.
There is a natural tendency for human beings to feel threatened in the presence of large groups. If you’ve ever attended a large arena where a fight started, you might have “felt” a ripple through the collective consciousness of those present. You sense the anguish of those around you, you are caught in the bubble. For a moment, you and the crowd are one. Tonight is one of those nights.
I slip on my headphones and start playing a few trance tracks from a top 100 album I have. Almost instantly, I am in the bubble. As the sounds of voices, screams and bodies hopping around fades, I am part of the collective. All I hear are the snares, break beats and heavy basses while I look through my own personal windshield. Somewhere, a conga-line starts, and dozens of people begin sprinting in a sweeiping arc around the other ravers. For a second my radar gets tweaked. I get sensation of danger again. The groups of bodies darting through the crowd resemble the scene of a brawl. Bodies moving rapidly, touching, colliding. But the feeling subsides. These people are all here to have fun. They are happy being separate yet close.

A part of me wishes the rave was louder. At least I would have more to say.

Listening to radio streams of the latest music is a great way to discover new songs and artists. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be a little difficult to figure out the name of a song in a big stream, particularly when there is no compere involved.

Well, to solve that problem, I recently came across a site that streams radio stations from around the world AND provides a full listing of all the tracks - it's called 3FL Radio.

The section I am most interested in at the moment is the list of Digitally Imported streams. Digitally Imported is a site that streams electronic dance radio music from around the world. It has different streams for different styles, which makes it great for both getting to know a style and for listening to what's currently happening with a particular style. Some of their streams include:

Breaks

Chillout

DJ Mixes

Drum and Bass

Electro House

Eurodance

Funky House

Goa Psy Trance

Hardcore

Hard Dance

Hardstyle

House

Lounge

Minimal

Progressive

Trance

Tribal House

Vocal Trance

Don’t you HATE it when you’re watching a movie, you hear this awesome piece of music in

Don't you HATE it when you're watching a movie, you hear this awesome piece of music in the background of a scene, you start hyperventalating (cause it's just so awesome), you immediately go and find the soundtrack to the movie, only to find the pièce de résistance of the whole soundtrack isn't there?! Well, all I can say is "THANK GOODNESS FOR THE INTERNET"!

A couple of weeks ago I went and saw the new Batman movie - The Dark Knight. About half way through is a scene in a nightclub with some awesome dark electronic song in the background (total goosebump moment). Anyway, having learnt from my mistakes, I went straight to the internet and did a search for "club scene song Dark Knight Batman" and voila! Some gorgeous person had already discovered what it was and posted about it!

Finding a song you've been searching for for ages can be one of the most rewarding experiences - the moment the download clicks over to 100% and the sound of the song you've dedicated hours to searching for starts flowing through your speakers can be quite a tear-jerker (for this girl, anyway).

Fortunately, with the internet, we can start to benefit from other peoples tireless searches, and reap the benefits more quickly. Next time you get stuck on a song you've heard randomly in the background of a movie, have a quick squiz at ReelSoundtrack.com or google-it.

Track details: Boom Boom Satellites - Scatterin' Monkey
Boom Boom Satellites - A Moment of Silence

If you like that, try: Crystal Method - Trip Like I Do

(*)

Come As You Are (do Nirvana). Creio que, vocês já sabem o quanto eu gosto de versões, né? Bom, segue o vídeo:

"After a glorious start to the season the Spanish authorities have stepped in to quash DC10 - declaring last year's 60 day closure order must stand, and that the club which was closed for 20 days last June has to serve the "remaining" 57 days of its ban."
Ibiza Voice, june

Clubber kids, book your tickets: the punnishment is over now! Fair or not - who cares! - Ibiza's superlatives champion dancefloor re-opens next Friday, 15th, at 16h30. Some changes, that's true, but the same spirit, as they claim.

Easy now big chiefs, after a few months at my new job things are going smooth, I love it there and I am fitting in brilliantly, the people I work with are pleasant and the jobs I have to do are fairly simple :)
It's killing me with the low wage but I think I shall survive for now.

Drinking habits are getting more frequent, this week I got WASTED on a Tuesday, my god I fucking was horrendously rough and I came home at 5am, my mum wasn't too pleased.
I went out last night and it was very boring for me so I've decided no more going out till after Creamfields which shall be a brilliant experience for me.

My music taste has totally changed, now I can't listen to Rock music without resenting it, I do admittedly like it but I just can't listen to it, it's bassline/dance/trance all the way now! eyyyyy
After finding my new love for this music I have to go to Creamfields, I have to admit, when I first saw it it didn't appeal but now I can't fucking wait for it, gonna be a right weekend, I'm leaving my sensible head at home and gonna be crazy! :D
I'm dying my hair bright pink and i'm not gonna cut it before I go now.

http://www.creamfields.com/lineup.aspx

How ace is that gonna be! :D
I'm so excited!!! :D

One of the greatest aspects of DJ’ing is the experience of interacting with people. By and lar

One of the greatest aspects of DJ'ing is the experience of interacting with people. By and large, that's the audiences I play for, but from time to time, I have the great pleasure of meeting the people behind the music I promote and play, and it's absolutely one of the great joys of being in this business.

I recently had the pleasure of exchanging some e-mail with Joshua Klipp, whose new song, L1FE, is a new entry on this week's dance chart. The Jamie Sanchez mix is the one I've been spinning, and I really like the production work Sanchez put into it. But the lyric and the vocal are Klipp's, and while the vocal styling might be seen as perhaps "boybandesque," I really like the freshness of the sound with that vocal style overlaid on a dance beat. He sings from the heart, and you hear it in the performance.

Klipp says the song is particularly special to him, and when I listen to the lyric, I can understand why.

Give the sample a listen on his MySpace page, or take a peek at his web site to find out more about him, and see what you think.

Keep listening,

Wes

Whew!! What a week!! Alot of good music out there that I'm really feeling!! So let's get into this!!

1. Open Your Heart-Dirty South & Axwell--These are my two favorite producers right now and this track does not dissappoint. I see this track being the track of the fall with its various remix incarnations...

2. Dance Wiv Me-Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris--I love this track!! One thing I don't love are the remixes but overall totally solid effort...

3. Better Day (TV Rock Remix)-Dirty South & Paul Harris feat. Rudy--Now this is a great remix!! Go get it from the just releases PVD Cream in Ibiza...

4. Le Night Demoniator-Lina--This is still FIRE!! French Electro=Funky...

5. I Kissed A Hustlin' Girl-Katy Perry v. A-Trak v. DImitris George--I've been getting a great response from this remix simply because it takes a crappy pop song and makes it ALOT better...If you want to download it then either go to myspace.com/dimitrisgeorge or hipsteroverkill.com

6. Everyone Nose-N.E.R.D.--Neptunes...Enough said...

7. Children (Club Mix)-Dave Darell--Alot of DJs and Producers have tried to remix this track. Some were ok and some were just bad. This remix hits the spot and is definitely ready for the dancefloor...

8. Great DJ (Calvin Harris Remix)-The Ting Tings--This remix is so right...

9. Electric Feel (Justice Remix)-MGMT--French Electro remix that makes this song a mid-tempo sizzler...

10.Get Down-Groove Armada--I am still loving the Calvin Harris remix...Alot of Energy on this track...

Obscure throw back track:

Supernature-Cerrone--Great Beat+Weird Lyrics=A great trackmade for the club...
