Yes...it makes me want to just sit in a hot tub and grab a razor blade. I cant believe i like a fucking Miley Cyrus song. And even worse...HANNA MONTANA song. BARF! I heard it on XM radio (big ups to emily for that) and said "oh i like this song a lot. who is it??" And *holds back gagging* it was Miley Cyrus. So i downloaded it from itunes on my iphone (lowers head in shame). But the album artwork was a picture of Hanna Montana and the Disney logo. So I had to make my own album art for it. I cant be on the train and have people see the REAL album art. The skank picture makes me feel a little better about listening to it.

One of the highlights of the live broadcast review of the papers I was on tonight on PressTV, with host Amina Taylor and the Independent's Amol Rajan, was a story actually from yesterday's 'Daily Telegraph' about the rumpus that has blown up over the founder of the Persian Empire, Cyrus the Great (d. 529BC). A magnificent cylinder inscribed in cuneiform script, held by that amazing treasure-house, the British Museum, has been championed by the United Nations as the 'first bill of human rights' -- over 2,000 years before Europeans got round to such things. Bunkum (or words to that effect), a learned German professor, Josef Wiesehoefer, has declared: it is nothing more than propaganda. Spin. Any illusions that Cyrus was some sort of premature Liberal Democrat should be abandoned forthwith, we are told. But as I pointed out on the programme tonight, Cyrus got quite a good write-up in the the Bible, as the liberator of Jews from Babylon and a man who believed in multiculturalism. On the other hand, to have built up one of the greatest empires the world has ever seen, he must have been a bit of a thug as well.

Curiously, this debate has coincided with the imminent opening of a remarkable exhibition at the British Museum (where else), about the (Spanish-born) Roman Emperor Hadrian. Known by schoolkids as the builder of that rather sad looking wall in the north country, Hadrian was, like Cyrus, an extraordinary empire-builder, a tactician of brilliance but also a skilled politician who knew how to put out his messages, Focus-style, in inscriptions and on coins (one delightfully trumpets his success in clearing off a large slice of public debt). Moreover, he was a lover who championed gay rights (even if he wouldn't quite have termed things in that way), turning his deceased young male lover Antinous into a cult. The British Museum's exhibition (which will open to the public on 24 July) is a revelation, both about the man and his legacy. So was he a first century Liberal Democrat? Let the scholars' arguments rage.

Its a craze, its a phenomenon, its Miley Cyrus. But is it right? When it comes to tween entertainment, there is no one else that has the credentials, or the personality for that matter, that can please your average 6 to 14 year old better than Hanna Montana. She has mesmerized thousands of kids, fascinated critics, and put smiles (and cash) onto Disney's otherwise sinking television market, and most of all, took the child entertainment business by storm. How did she do it? Obviously not by herself.

From the start, Cyrus (who was born Destiny Hope, but recently changed her name) relied on her father to get her roles on TV. At age nine, when living in Toronto, she played a girl named Kylie on her father, country star Bill Ray's show Doc. She landed other minor roles at ages 10 and 11, but meanwhile, Disney was starting to dream up the show that would make her famous, and later, infamous. At age 12, Cyrus tried out for the lead role of what was then Disney's new show, Miley Stewart/Hanna Montana. Originally Disney thought she was too small, but later gave her the role.

The show hit home, where Disney's main audience (9 to 12 year olds) lauded the show, making it the new big hit with young fans. But it was when Cyrus went global that Disney turned genius. After the successful show, Disney attempted to sell an album with 8 of the show's top tracks. The public pounced, and it sold like crazy. This was the beginning of the bad for Cyrus as her career stood on the gas pedal and sped away.

Cyrus released more albums which sold more and more, and she went on tour, making tons of money and multiplying her fan base for every city she toured. But as she aged, it became harder and harder for her younger audience to relate to her, and so with that many more older kids jumped on the Miley Cyrus train. Now, with Cyrus making money in her sleep, half of the girls in my school between 6 and 10 obsessed, and Disney soaking it all up, one might wonder when the downfall would come. One might point out that it has already come, with the photo scandals, but in truth, it has only tightened the bond with Cyrus's more committed fans.

But what do I think? When Cyrus turns 16, then 17, then 18, she will be in deep trouble. Unable to please anyone under 11 at that point, her show will require a new lead actress. This is why: no one on this planet over 17 could possibly star in a Disney show today that is geared towards 9 year olds. And with her happy go-lucky acting style, there is no way she could land any kind of role in the darker, more sarcastic shows kids 16 and above watch. Getting a lead role in a movie would be even harder, because her acting talents pail in comparison to her personality. My point? Unless Cyrus can change her ways soon, she's going to struggle later on.

This has nothing to do with writing and less to do with South Park but nonetheless, I'm going to post some pictures of my cat, Cyrus. Yesterday, Chandler posted some pictures of Sterling, and since Sterling and Cyrus are friends (boyfriend and girlfriend if the truth be told), I thought I would toss up some pictures of him just for good measure.

Cyrus has been with me for the duration of The Zen of South Park, and though sometimes his incessant meowing can be annoying and distracting, he has always been a faithful friend and acted as encouragement since I have to provide him with a good home off of my monstrous writing salary.

His name, Cyrus, comes from the Persian King in the fifth century BCE. He is mentioned in the Bible in the book of Ezra-Nehemiah and also in Herodotus' works. In the latter he seems to be a mischievous person (and that's where that connection lies with Cyrus the cat), and in the Bible he is the emperor who allowed the Jews, who had been dispersed by the Babylonians, to return to Jerusalem and rebuild their temple. Since he comes from Israel, it's a most fitting name.

Even though its already late, coz i was so busy and tired to write, here is a short summary of Episode 11.

Samsoon still tried to oppose Cyrus in signing their agreement to their love contract. She even stayed outside in the heavy pouring rain as a way to rally her opposition. Alas! Cyrus, told Samsoon to get inside and forget about the contract and he will send her home tomorrow. Happy, Samsoon decided to go inside the room. Inside, she accidentally found the notice of eviction she left at Cyrus's house. She realized that he knows where she spent the 1 million. She was touched beyond words with Cyrus's act of kindness. When Cyrus came back, he found the love contract already signed by Samsoon. He was amazed of the sudden change in Cyrus. Later in the night, as they shared the same room only in different beds, she told him that she knows that he knows where she spent the 1 million. And that he is really kind. Even though he heard all these, he still pretended to be asleep.

The next day, Maureen was teasing Samsoon that she already loves Cyrus but she denies it. On the other hand, Cyrus is talking with his friend on the phone, where Samsoon accidentally heard. In the conversation, he told his friend that Samsoon already signed the love contract and tells him that he can never love Samsoon. She is not her type. Shes older, ugly and fat. Upon hearing this, Samsoon was saddened realizing that she is starting to like Cyrus.

Feeling heart broken, Samsoon left the resort but encountered a thief, he wants to have all of Samsoons things even her watch. She was hesitant to give it trying to dissuade him to just leave the watch as it has sentimental value to her being the only thing that was left by his father to her. But the thief still wants it. When she thought everything was lost, Cyrus to save her as her night in shining armor!.

One photo shows Miley, then 14, dressed in a wet t-shirt in what appears to be a public shower stall. Another photo shows Miley taking a picture of herself with her iPhone, blowing a kiss into the camera. She also has her t-shirt rolled up, showing off her stomach.

But wait, there’s more!

Below is the last photo that shows the Disney tween star wearing a “Nick J” necklace. Is this proof enough that she dated Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers?

I updated the I'm Just Being Miley post with the official video. Let me just say that I'm a bit disappointed in it's Disney Channel flavoring. I realize that Disney probably owns Miley, but you'd think that with her star-power and money and Disney's money that they all could have done a little better. The video consists of Miley singing along with about a dozen other 14-15 year old girls singing in turn. Not only is it pretty boring (the background is a white drop sheet), but totally inappropriate. Now, we all know that Miley, what with the alleged sexy-time photos that circulated and the fact that she's "in the business", has certainly had her fair share of "experience". I even realize that they have to make the video to attract a younger age cohort. BUT a bunch of 14 year old girls jumping around, singing the lyrics, "When we're intertwined, everything's alright," just seems kind of dirty. Call me old-fashioned, but I'd have rather seen just Miley gettin' a little steamy with some dude. At least she looks older than 15.
