i love the artistic feel to twitter with their clouds and the little people, i assume it's most likely the way the pictures are drawn, pleasing to the eye<<<<[i went to the eye doctor today, guess I'm getting new contacts] it has a childish but more adult like feel to it, and i like it. =]]

well i did want to go on twitter and tell everyone how my sister is in my room doing "inventory" on her MAC "collection", but i guess not.

oh. so i thought I'd include my latest happening. my toe! it has been damage quite well by those curved bricks that are used for to trail something for garden or backyards or whatever. yea! i can't even turn on the sprinklers without getting hurt. i unfortunately kicked it barefoot =[[. skin got pulled back, blood was dripping out, it hurt like a bitch.

well after everything was cleaned up. i had to CUT the damn skin off that was ripped off it was already turning black for some reason, maybe the blood, it hurt but i didn't want to go to the doctor so, i did it myself and bandaged it...

and today my mom made me walk from downtown [went to the eye doctor] to my house which is about 2 miles away with m knowingly hurt bleeding toe.

well i keep telling her that i can't do anything now beacuase i am on disability, but she make me anyway, how sad.

Sony announces 80GB "Core Pack" PS3 for $399

At E3 today Sony announced that it would begin shipping a new PlayStation 3 SKU called the "Core Pack" in September that will feature an 80GB hard drive and sell for $399.

That would make it the same price as the 40GB version is now. No mention of a price cut for the 40GB version so it looks like Sony will most likely just be replacing the 40GB version with this one.

Warner Bros. to lower price of Blu-ray discs

In what I'm sure is a move to help speed adoption of the HD disc format, Warner Bros. has announced that they will be dropping the price of its Blu-ray movies in September with some falling to as low as $11.

That's not to say that the majority of them will be that cheap, but they should at be dropping at least a little bit.

They have not released a full list of titles and their new price but some of those falling to $11 will be:

The Shining
A Clockwork Orange
The Aviator
The Road Warrior
Enter the Dragon
The Fugitive
Swordfish

Big Brother Questions?

As an avid watcher of big brother I heard one of the contestants asking the following questions, so thought I would share them with you as I didn't have the answers.

We started as people who were naked so why did we start to wear clothes? Were we meant to wear clothes or were we supposed to get warm in a similar way to animals?

Why did we start cutting our nails and our hair? Were we supposed to just let them grow? Were we supposed to have beards?

Have we created all these things to "polish" ourselves up?

If we look back is that what God intended?

As I am typing my mum is saying "didn't it all start when Adam and Eve created sin by eating the apple in the garden of Eden?"

Xbox 360 price drop, new model officially announced

The evidence pointing to a price cut for Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console was impossible to ignore and today Microsoft went ahead and made it official.

The current Xbox 360 Pro which comes with a 20GB hard drive will now sell for $299, down from $349. Additionally, a new Pro model was announced that will feature a 60GB hard drive and will take the $349 price point.

The new 60GB version will go on sale next month. For more info check out the press release here.

The drop to $299 makes the Xbox 360 cheaper than the Sony PlayStation 3 and just $50 more than the Nintendo Wii. No price drop is expected for either the PS3 or Wii.

Microsoft have unsurprisingly announced a price drop for the 20GB X360 pro to $299.99. This is no surprise of course however what is slightly more of a surprise is that as well as dropping the price they have also announced 60GB model to be released in early August in the US & Canada for $349, the price drop is clearly a plan to phase out the 20GB model similar to Sony with the PS3. As for Europe.... NOTHING HERE SORRY!

like regular thought becomes as difficult as
a mandatory marathon to run right after
stuffing your face at Mickey D's
and regardless of how hard you lift and drop your feet to
move miles away from the inspiration,
it chases you and reminds you to breathe
in and out the fresh air of new ideas.
ideas are like sewing machines,
systematically stitching together
the ripped up pieces of my life.
it's simple--
that break-up was a zipper and
that trauma was a button and
graduating from college was a French seam,
a rare kind of luxuruy.

after receiving the aforementioned inspiration,
i came home to find that my diploma arrived that day--
evidence that after 6 years of undergrad,
i finally did graduate.
the diploma sat in a slim cylindirical cardboard cage
tightly locked by metal on both sides like a jail cell,
showing me that the things worth fighting for
are often attained by busting through doors.
my father pried at this almost impossible-to-open container
with a knife barely able to contain
his excitement
to witness firsthand the evidence
of his oldest daughter's accomplishment.
he noted that he was more anxious than me
and worked carefully,
cutting around the metal circle on what he guessed was the up-side.
when he finally gets it open, he slides
the shiny thick piece of paper rolled up like a poster out
and begins to read each Old English font typed word out
loud.
his eyes tear up when he gets to the name
that he gave me almost 24 years before:
Farah Lolade Lawal,
which literally means
"Joy" "Wealth has come" "The first"
and i stop being stuck on my earlier inspiration.
then i realize that i am his inspiration
and that i am living out dreams he never could.
i too get excited about the piece of paper that was paid for
by thousands of dollars, tears and sleepless nights.
so reading in unison with my Daddy like we did when i was 5,
i begin to appreciate every letter, word, phrase and signature
and i vow on this night
to continue to reach for greatness,
to not only be inspired by others but
to be inspiration.

M. Soft shouts cut as sony stay put!

We revealed a few weeks ago that Microsoft are set to drop the price of the XBOX 360 will be dropped by $50 in the US, Sony have announced that despite these rumours they will NOT be cutting the price of the PS3 regardless of wether Microsoft go ahead with the cut or not. So sorry future PS3 owners you will have to wait a little longer or maybe you could buy a wii instead!

Sony says no to PS3 price cut

While the Xbox 360 is about to get a price cut (too much evidence now supporting it, even though Microsoft hasn't yet made an official announcement), there has been some speculation that Sony will follow suit and announce their very own price cut for the PlayStation 3 console.

Sony CFO Nobuyuki Oneda has responded to the rumor and said that "our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability...Our plan is not to reduce the price."

That's not to say a price cut won't happen, just that their official position right now is that there will not be a price cut.

I can see clearly now, the hair is gone

Last night we went to Aunt Chris' salon for Liam's second haircut. As I mentioned earlier this week, he was in desperate need of a cut.

Aunt Chris cut Liam's hair when he was nine months old which was three months ago. I hadn't realized how unruly it had become until I heard someone at church describing Liam to another person and they said, "he's the little boy with long hair." What!? Is it that noticeable? Is he only known for his shaggy locks? I had to fix that!

From now on, instead of the boy with the long hair, they'll have to say, "the cute, adorable boy with a nice clean, cut."

His cousin Lysa just got back from Alaska (yeah for Alaska!) and she brought Liam a cute little purple moose. It was very sweet of her and it acted as a great distraction for Liam. Distraction was key because he really wanted to have his hands in everything - he wiggled, he squirmed, he stink-faced, he tried to grab the comb, he tried to grab the scissors, he'd stand up, he'd sit down - it's a wonder he didn't get his ears trimmed too. He wasn't bad, just interested and involved. =) Aunt Chris did an exceptional job (thank you, thank you!) and he now looks like a little boy again.

Here we are getting started. Liam looks very serious. It was but two seconds later that he pulled off his cape. We ended up just taking his shirt off.

Liam eats moose. He's eaten moose plenty of times before, but never the purple, fuzzy variety.

Liam smiles at his moose. He loves his present from his cousin Lysa!

When it was all done, Liam ended up with more hair on his bottom than his head.

Just one last snip, and he's done.

Thanks again to Aunt Chris - we won't another three months before our next haircut visit.

Debra Hare-Bey's top 10 hair styles when growing out your relaxer

Are you trying to grow out your relaxer- frustrating isn't it! I will have patience with you because, I want you to be patient. The first thing I want to say is "cut it." Take off all the relaxed hair. Cut out the frustration of dealing with two textures (your textured new growth and your straight ends), the tangling, the hair loss and a style that doesn't look good anymore. Cuting off your relaxed hair is the only way to return back to your natural texture.

True Statements

1. Relaxed hair will not suddenly turn into natural texture over time.

2. Washing your hair in beer will not revert your hair back to its' natural state.

3. Not relaxing it for 6 months will not do it either.

Reality

I know you know this but, do not want to face the reality. The only way not to have relaxed hair is to cut it off!

Patience

Now having said all of that, there are a few options you have if you do not want to cut off the relaxed hair all at once. Understand- without cutting it, it will not magically turn into your natural texture. Cut- you will have to. Gradually is your choice. If you choose this method, you must choose styles that do not require a lot of care. Choose styles that will allow your hair to rest and grow. If you choose not to follow this advice, your hair will break once you stop your touch ups.

Style Options

1. If you have any length to your hair, move into a shorter version of your hair style. Go from your length to a Bob cut. From there, move into a Pixie. Keep your Pixie tight (cut often)- before you know it, all your relaxed hair will be gone.

2. Extensions: add extension to your hair in the form of braids or twist. This alternative will give you 2-3 months at a time of what I call "rest and grow". This is perfect for growing out your relaxer. Do this for a year- cutting your hair each time you replace your braids and vola' no more relaxed hair.

3. Weave it: depending on the type of hair you choose, once again you have 1-3 months of allowing your hair to rest and grow. Like the extensions, cut and re-weave. In no time at all you would have removed all the relaxed hair.

4. Any type of wet set: Straw Set, Rod Set, Roller Set

5. Easy Twist Out: large flat twist or cornrows straight back done with gel in the evening- untwist/unbraid in the morning and finger comb. This can be worn for 3-5 days at a time.

6. Topknots, Buns, French Rolls etc.: all wonderful choices for a fabuously neat sophisticated look that requires very little care.

7. Twist & Curl: twist your hair (no extension added) and rod, roller, or straw set your hair. This will last for about 2-3 weeks depending on length and texture.

8. Finger Waves: perfect- you can bring that style back with all your fabulosity.

9. Wiglet: add a wiglet to the back of your hair for that chic, quick, easy style.

10. Barber Cut- you know you always wanted to try it. You have the face for it, it's just finding the right barber. Now is the perfect opportunity and besides, the look is hot in temperature and in style. " You go girl."

O site da Prefeitura de Petrópolis cita os êxitos (reais ou imaginários/propagandísticos) que os gestores estariam tendo na área de Saúde. Quem quiser ver o suposto êxito na política de saúde daquele município pode clicar nessa frase. Não informa sobre o salário desses médicos que atuam em PSF. Mas, como veremos, parece que o salário não é razão para os médicos de Petrópolis ficarem motivados para trabalhar no serviço público de saúde.

O mesmo site divulga um edital de Concurso para uma fundação municipal de saúde. Vencimento básico inicial de um médico especialista: R$ 802,43 (oitocentos e dois reais e quarenta e três centavos). Mais a promessa de algumas gorjetas e penduricalhos salariais de cem reais. O edital pode ser visto no site da Prefeitura de Petrópolis. A tabela com o vencimento básico inicial dos médicos especialistas está na página 8 (oito) do Edital.. Isso para quem não acredite que um profissional que passa seis anos em uma faculdade, estudando em dois turnos e tem que fazer dois anos de residência, possa ser remunerado de forma tão aviltante. Esse salário pago pela Prefeitura de Petrópolis é:
1-Cerca de 10% do piso salarial nacional que é reivindicado pela FENAM. Ou seja, como o vencimento básico inicial de um médico contratado pelo piso salarial nacional, seria possível contratar pelo menos nove médicos da Prefeitura de Petrópolis.
2-Inferior aos três salários mínimos (mil duzentos e quarenta e cinco reais) definidos como salário mínimo profissional para médicos e odontólogos pela Lei Federal 3999/61.
3-Inferior ao piso salarial definido na convenção coletiva de trabalho do Sindicato dos Médicos de Juiz de Fora, com a rede hospitalar privada e filantrópica, que é de R$1.867,50.
4-Inferior ao vencimento básico inicial para médicos de qualquer prefeitura do vizinho Estado de Minas Gerais (que não é exemplo de tratamento digno para os médicos dentro do serviço público).

A Secretaria de Estado da Saúde do Espírito Santo abriu concurso para médico, em várias especialidades, totalizando 285 vagas. O vencimento básico inicial é de R$ 2.625,00 até R$ 5.250,00 (conforme carga horária e especialidade). Quem quiser conferir pode ir ao site da Cespe da UNB. . Um médico do Estado do Espírito Santo terá um valor material 7 vezes maior do que um médico da Prefeitura de Petrópolis.

Em vários Estados e cidades importantes do Brasil, os médicos que atuam no serviço público tem organizado manifestos para expressar o seu descontentamento com nossa remuneração e condições de trabalho. Faltam cargos e salário. Em Minas Gerais, na Secretaria de Estado da Saúde, médico não tem nem cargo. Há também outras aberrações.

Aqui vamos apenas dar alguns exemplos: registramos movimentos médicos no Maranhão (médicos há 4 meses sem receber e falta de condições de trabalho).Fonte: “16/07/2008 - 01h02 - Médicos em greve no “Carlos Macieira”” Os médicos que prestam serviços de atendimento no Hospital Doutor Carlos Macieira, no Calhau, deflagraram greve ontem por conta do atraso no pagamento de quatro meses de salários e da falta de condições de trabalho. Como conseqüência, centenas de pacientes que buscavam atendimentos eletivos, como consultas, exames e cirurgias, não foram atendidos. De acordo com o Conselho Regional de Medicina do Maranhão (CRM/MA), não houve acordo entre a comissão de greve e o Governo do Estado, o que acabou culminando em greve.”

A notícia foi publicada no site da Midiamax. 15/07/2008 18:59 -Médicos do HR paralisam atividades em agosto. Os médicos reivindicam o piso salarial da FENAM. O movimento pode se estender a outras unidades do Estado. Pernambuco: salários ruins e problemas com a gestão do sistema público de saúde. Os médicos estão preparando um pedido de demissão em massa. A notícia está no Jornal do Comércio, JC on-line. Mais de duas centenas de médicos especialistas já entregaram ao sindicato suas cartas de demissão. “De acordo com o presidente do Sindicato dos Médicos de Pernambuco (Simepe), Antônio Jordão, novos pedidos de exoneração devem ser encaminhados na noite desta terça-feira (15), quando profissionais de saúde do Estado se reúnem no sindicato. Desde a última sexta-feira (11), 126 médicos já entregaram cartas de demissão ao Simepe.”

Em junho, os médicos de Vitória denunciaram à opinião pública, às autoridades em geral e à comunidade médica e sindical a gravidade da situação da Saúde na capital capixaba.

Médicos da PMV mostram força em greve de advertência

No último dia 12 de junho os médicos que atendem nas unidades de saúde da Prefeitura de Vitória fizeram uma paralisação de advertência. Todas as unidades participaram da greve, que serviu como demonstração de força da categoria diante dos problemas enfrentados na capital. As principais reivindicações têm mais a ver com a preocupação dos médicos com a qualidade do atendimento oferecido aos moradores da capital. Falta de segurança, unidades em condições precárias, além de dificuldades na gestão das unidades, o que leva a uma queda do desempenho dos profissionais. Mas, uma promessa de campanha não cumprida é o que mais tem irritado todos os médicos da PMV. Em 2004, durante a campanha eleitoral, o então candidato João Coser, assinou um documento comprometendo-se em pagar, no primeiro ano de mandato, o piso nacional de salário aos médicos. Após várias cobranças e reuniões com o prefeito e seus secretários, a diretoria do Simes percebeu que tratava-se de um engodo. Não havia vontade política de cumprir o que foi prometido e assinado. Após duas assembléias, os médicos decidiram partir para a greve e desencadear uma série de eventos (inclusive outras paralisações) para mostrar sua insatisfação. A notícia foi divulgada no site do Sindicato dos Médicos do Espírito Santo .

Não são casos únicos. Cada vez mais esse movimento vem tomando um aspecto de uma luta continuada. Os médicos devem interferir na política e nas eleições, como forma de pressão sobre o Executivo e os congressistas para que haja garantias efetivas para o trabalho médico dentro do serviço público. Não se pode continuar remunerando trabalhadores intelectualizados, com uma formação demorada e complexa, que executam procedimentos de altíssima responsabilidade (a vida das pessoas) e que têm que estar continuamente se atualizando, como vem sendo feito: com os piores salários do serviço público.

E ainda citamos o movimento dos médicos do serviço público do Estado do Ceará, onde se pede um PCCS e se usa, como referencial para as reivindicações o piso salarial nacional definido pela FENAM, Federação Nacional dos Médicos.

Ceará: movimento médico – profissionais organizam assembléia geral e aguardam audiência com o governador. A meta é um PCCS que dê aos profissionais metade do salário mínimo profissional defendido pela FENAM. O restante seria progressivamente incorporado à remuneração médica, dentro do PCCS. Às vésperas da data-base das principais categorias de trabalhadores brasileiros em empresas privadas – como metalúrgicos, bancários e eletricitários e telefônicos –, o Brasil enfrenta uma série de greves, manifestações e ameaças de paralisação do funcionalismo público federal, em muitos casos antes mesmo do período de vencimento do acordo coletivo do ano passado. Segundo o presidente da Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT) em Minas, Marco Antônio de Jesus, as campanhas salariais deste semestre também deverão ser duras na iniciativa privada. “As negociações até agora têm ocorrido com muitas paralisações, porque as empresas dificultam o diálogo com os trabalhadores, apesar dos altos lucros”, afirma.

Na segunda-feira, os funcionários dos Correios, em greve desde o dia 1º, fizeram uma manifestação diante do Palácio do Planalto. Com data-base em 1º de agosto e audiência no Tribunal Superior do Trabalho (TST) marcada para esta terça-feira, eles querem que o governo federal cumpra um acordo fechado em novembro do ano passado, no qual os salários dos carteiros ganhariam 30% de adicional de risco e seria criado um plano de cargos e salários para a categoria. Na Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa), os servidores entraram em greve em 30 de junho, levando a Associação Brasileira dos Importadores de Equipamentos, Produtos e Suprimentos Médico-Hospitalares (Abimed) a impetrar oito mandados de segurança para a liberação de produtos de saúde que estão parados em portos e aeroportos.

Os funcionários da Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), ligada ao Ministério da Fazenda, devem cruzar os braços nesta terça e quarta para cobrar o cumprimento de um acordo com o governo, assinado em 12 de junho, que trata do reajuste salarial. No INSS, os servidores tentam negociar a incorporação das gratificações aos salários-base. “Queremos acabar com os penduricalhos. O volume de gratificações no salário da categoria já é maior do que o salário de referência”, explica a presidente da Confederação Nacional dos Trabalhadores em Seguridade Social, Maria Aparecida de Godoy. Enquanto isso, os aeroportuários conseguiram uma contraproposta da Infraero para suas reivindicações e vão apresentá-las à categoria entre os dias 22 e 24.

Os petroleiros também fazem parte das categorias insatisfeitas. Microsoft cuts 20GB Xbox 360 to $299.99, launches 60GB model

Hoping to stir more sales for its Xbox 360, Microsoft has finally announced the long-anticipated price drop for the standard 20GB Xbox 360 SKU while introducing a new model. The new price tag brings the 20GB down $50 to $299.99, making the once-premium 360 SKU now ever-closer to the price of the industry-leading Nintendo Wii.

Formerly $349.99, the 20GB SKU will now be succeeded by the 60GB Xbox 360 at the same price point. The 60GB unit is identical to the 20GB, albeit with a bigger hard drive and the HDMI connection of recent 20GB hardware revisions. The black Xbox 360 Elite, with its 120GB hard drive, retains its current price of $449.99

With this latest update, Microsoft is gunning for another batch of new users to complement its flux of big holiday titles which include the likes of Gears of War 2, Fable 2, and Halo Wars. Also expected for users around the world is a boost to the Video Marketplace in the form of new movies and shows, and perhaps even a new content deal or two.
