So you may ask, "TechTV, I haven't heard that name in a very long time" and if you did, than you're probably from America (not that it is a bad thing). G4TechTV Canada is the Canadian equivalent to the US's G4 channel. Over the last few years TechTV has gone down the crapper, moving away from the Tech aspect of things, and more into the Internet 2.0 era of the computing world. Although G4TechTV has tried to keep things Tech, with shows like Call For Help, CNetTV, it's ownership by Rogers seems to be hindering it's ability to succeed.

Currently there are only a handful of shows that are new, even with the schedule revamp that took place over the weekend, there is a 3 hour period throughout the 24 hour day where there is new content being broadcast. To make matters worse, the commercials are outdated, and their helpful segments called "TechTips" haven't been edited in a number of years now, and are more geared towards Mac users. Lets be honest here, I love mac, but most people who watch TechTV aren't in it for the Mac.

So what needs to be done? More shows for one, and not drama shows. We need original Canadian tech shows that are aired regularly and are being filmed continuously. Also, a community needs to be created around the network, such as a forum, a Twitter account, even a FaceBook page. Lastly their commercial segments need some serious work done. If you agree that TechTV needs to be revamped, join the small voices on the G4 forums and make your voice be heard. Yes the TechTV forums is but a small board at the bottom of G4's forum. You can join the discussions here at forums.g4tv.com.

Tonight Apple launched iPhone 2.0.2 firmware updates to it's iPhone and iPod touch users. The release notes state that there were bug fixes, and nothing more. Some customers have reported that there is better carrier reception, and faster load times. There are also less lag issues with typing. These fixes cannot be officially confirmed as Apple has not stated anymore than there were fixes.

On top of the new firmware update Apple has also sent out an email saying that MobileMe users will get yet another 60 day extension to their trial. I believe we are up to 150 days of free service for anyone who signed up on launch day, or shortly there after. This extension has been given because of the original stat up issues the push email service encountered over the first month of use. Customers should see the additional 60 days added to their accounts over the next couple days.

And finally Digital Overload 2009 is soon upon us, only about 6 more months to go until the Rhode Island gaming convention begins. This will be XTG's 4th year going to DO, and we are hoping to cover the events with more detail, including video, blog, twitter and flickr updates live to your computers and iPhones. While no relevant information about this years gaming event has been posted, you can browse the previous year's events on the forums and via fan updates.

For those who have not been to Digital Overload, you have no idea what you're missing. While it is not as big as ComiCon or PAX, it still delivers a wealth of gaming in a small environment. There are around 1000 attendees who came out last year, far from the 30,000 at PAX, but the smaller numbers means better chances to win prizes and meet people like Tim Buckley. We will be updating with any information that we get from DO, so you can also take part in the events coming in 2009.

- No hay caso, no, yo no lo puedo entender. Para mí que a la música hay que hacerla circular para que no se escape del cuerpo. Sea cual sea.
- ¿La música o el cuerpo?
- No sé. Ya te dije cómo son las cosas y vos sólo querés que nos encerremos en el placard a escribir mensajitos verde agua el uno contra el otro.
- Es que cuando los escribo ahí adentro siento que me salen con menos grito, como con nueve defensas y sólo dos delanteros. Son los viejos filtros ¿qué esperabas? ¿Filo?
- ¿Entonces vos decís que estamos condenados a cantar para siempre estas mismas canciones de mierda? ¿Nunca otra cosa? ¿Cómo puede ser que todavía queden oyentes para estas músicas?
- Podríamos alquilar gente que se ría por teléfono, si querés, para no aburrir a la audiencia.
- A mí con un solo acto me sobra y cuanto antes se vacíe la sala por mí mejor. El resto, a la hornalla, que se queme junto a las tostadas. Yo no voy a mirar.
- Pero ¿y el olor?
- El olor es una gran parte. Hace un tiempo me ofrecieron un mundo sin olores pero no lo acepté. Me pareció que podría ser algo similar a no vivir pero estando despiertos.
- No mirar es otra de las formas de esconderse. ¿Por qué todos se esconden? Decime ¿tienen la saliva apelmazada?
- La gente que se esconde sólo sirve para escenografía, y se sabe que vale más una mesa que alguien que se esconde. Una mierda.
- Yo sigo sin entender. Para mí que es algo con la saliva.
- Es la mierda. Viene por ese lado.
- Puede ser. Es que mierda, saliva y vergüenza es lo único propio que nos queda, en eso estamos de acuerdo. Y eso se cuida hasta lo último. El resto si, se puede dejar secar sobre la hornalla que no interesa.
- A mí se me complican algunas cosas, como ser la diferencia entre "lo único" y "lo último", y ante esa duda prefiero edificarme una muy buena tapia llena de carteles de “Peligro” “Warning” “Achtung” a la que, en tu honor, llamaremos Mierda o Vergüenza.
- Todo un detalle, pero son dos cosas diferentes. Pensar que son la misma cosa sería como confundir a Urdapilleta con Tortonese sólo porque alguna vez los nombraste de corrido.
- Esos carteles no sabés cómo me salvan de las catervas de idiotas y de los modelos básicos de la lencería cerebral. Es casi instantáneo.
- Si, si, extremadamente interesante, pero para la bestia un “Don’t trespassing” adornado con colgajos humanos es la gloria. La bestia huele la sangre a años de distancia. Es como la casita de la bruja del cuento de Gretel. Demasiada golosina. Y las golosinas no despiertan ni respeto ni indiferencia.
- Yo antes guardaba un montón de dulces en la heladera y para conservarlas me compraba todos los días una o dos pizzas de fugazzeta. Ahora creo que todas esas cosas están vencidas, pero no me animo ni a mirarles la fecha. ¿Cuánto tiempo habrá pasado?
- ¿En años o en fracciones de segundo? Yo también llevo vencidas muchas delicatessens y rotas cantidad de muñecas porque yo estaba ahí y no supieron disfrutarme ¿Entendés? ¡Yo estaba ahí!
- Es un misterio, si, si. Lo raro del tiempo es que alcanza para todos pero nunca para todo ¿te diste cuenta?

Un de ces deux ordinateurs est un Dell acheté il y a environ 3 ans. Sa carte graphique minable n'en fait pas un bon ordinateur de jeu, mais avant que 2 portables n'entrent à la maison, il était un secours appréciable, ne serait-ce que pour toutes les fois où Papa devait envoyer un courriel ou un document alors que le gros PC HP était occupé par un jeu vidéo.

Néanmoins, ça reste un PC, avec la horde de problèmes qui s'ensuivent. Dans toute son histoire à date, cet ordi a eu 2 virus, 3 adwares, 1 réinstallation de Windows XP, 2 épisodes de refus de reconnaître son propre lecteur de CD-DVD préinstallé, plus de 10 déconnexions subites et inexpliquées du réseau domestique requérant de reconfigurer le tout, et certainement plus de 100 redémarrages hard (en gardant le bouton power enfoncé) parce que même Ctrl-Alt-Del ne suffisait pas. Tout à fait typique.

Depuis plusieurs mois, il a un bogue persistant dont je n'ai jamais su le facteur déclencheur. Chaque fois qu'on ferme une fenêtre de l'explorateur Windows, peu importe de quel dossier il s'agit, on a un ralentissement monstrueux, ensuite le message "explorer a rencontré un problème et doit fermer" apparaît, suivi d'une brève disparition de la barre des tâches qui se relance ensuite toute seule. Comme ça ne ferme pas les autres programmes ouverts, ça n'empêche rien de fonctionner, et je ne m'étais donc jamais donné la peine de chercher une solution. Aujourd'hui, étant en vacances et n'ayant absolument rien à faire, je suis allé voir sur Google ce que je pourrais trouver à ce sujet...

Les réponses varient et se séparent grosso modo en 4 clans:

1. le clan des crétins qui ne comprennent pas la question, et qui répondent sur les forums "mais il suffit de mettre à jour votre Internet Explorer !", ne comprenant pas que c'est explorer.exe (l'explorateur Windows lui-même) et non le fureteur qui plante;
    
2. le clan des paranoïaques qui sont convaincus que c'est un virus ou un malware malgré un rapport HJT normal, un antivirus à jour, un firewall, et aucun antécédent de download suspect;
    
3. le clan des simplistes qui répondent "j'ai eu ce problème et tout s'est arrangé avec ce correctif de Microsoft: (lien vers un correctif...)";
    
4. le clan des utopistes, incluant le site web de Microsoft lui-même, qui avance que ce bogue n'est qu'un symptôme de la présence du vieux Service Pack 2 de XP et prescrivent donc d'installer le SP3.

J'emmerde les clans 1 et 2, le correctif du clan 3 ne fonctionne pas, et évidemment après avoir poireauté pendant 1 heure devant la barre d'installation du SP3 tel que prôné par le clan 4, ça n'a pas fonctionné non plus. Mais c'est le monde Windows. Ça ne pouvait pas fonctionner. Dans ce monde-là, les bogues viennent de nulle part, font partie du paysage, et y'a rien à faire. 

De retour sur mon MacBook, qui aura 1 an le 12 septembre et qui n'a jamais planté à date, je m'écrie encore une fois: mort à Windows ! Longue vie à Mac OS !

La clave está en el tiempo que pude enhebrar viendo cómo el mar se tragaba las botellas.
Yo que siempre supe saltear las canciones que menos me gustan, me veo reptar por entre los pastos sin saber que lo que busco quizás sean los pasos que voy dejando atrás.

با این کار مرحله اول انجام خواهد شد . بهتره بعد از این کار یه بار ریستارت هم کنید تا هم نتیجه رو ببینید و هم رجیستری اپدیت بشه (هر چند نیازی هم نیست )

برای انجام مرحله دوم کافیه تا این مراحل را طی کنید و گزینه 'DisableCAD' رو به 0 ست نمایید .

La gracia consiste en hacerle sacar chispas al frío hasta llegar al incendio. Es curioso, pero mi cuerpo parece haber nacido para esto y se acomoda fácilmente a las lepras de la gracia.

Sebuah lagu ghotic cukup keras dari Evanescence sangat mengasyikkan saya. Seperti sebuah momen tremendum fascinosum, karena dibalik kegarangan musiknya mengandung kalimat kesangsian sepahit sebagaimana saya kutip sebagai quote di atas:

Tuhan Maha Pemurah. Sering kita lupa demikian. Tuhan Maha Pemurah, kalau kita mau mem”baca”. Kitab Pencerah menukilkannya di sebuah ayat: Iqra, wa rabbukal akram. Tuhan sebagai Cahaya di atas Cahaya sebagaimana diakuinya sendiri dalam an-Nuur 35, adalah bagian dari kita yang mustahil sama sekali hilang atau pun musnah. Setiap nyawa diciptakan Allah dengan unsur Cahaya di dalamnya. Ruh kita atau nyawa kita adalah senyawa yang di dalamnya kekal unsur Tuhan itu. Tahun ini adalah tahun yang menyadarkan kebutuhan saya akan ‘kelambanan’. Dan sebagaimana diungkapkan Paolo Coelho di dalam masterpiecenya ‘The Alchemist’: kalau kita menghendaki sesuatu secara sungguh-sungguh, alam semesta akan bahu membahu mewujudkan kehendak itu, maka berbagai momentum yang saya temui di tahun ini pun adalah momentum-momentum yang mengungkap lebih lengkap tentang kesadaran menjadi ‘lamban’ itu. Di puncak momentum, di perpustakaan kecil milik sebuah lsm jakarta, saya menemukan sebuah buku yang sangat menggugah, Success Intelelligence: Timeless Wisdom for a Manic Society. Buku yang ditulis psikolog penggagas happines project, Robert Holden, Ph.D. Saya kemudian mencari buku tersebut di hampir semua toko buku yang menjual buku-buku impor, namun sudah tak kebagian. Dengan terpaksa saya memberanikan diri meminjamnya dari perspustakaan lsm itu, dan melakukan dosa yang kesekian kali: memfotokopi.

Di hampir setiap bagian, Holden memberikan quote-quote. Yang sangat menarik, di bawah bab ‘Busy Generation’, dia menulis:

Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy, busy…dead!

Dan di akhir paragraf pertama bagian ini, Robert memberi question tag: Aren’t we all? Bahwa kita semua sepenuhnya merupakan anggota ‘Generasi Sibuk’? Yang sepanjang hidupnya sibuk, lalu tahu-tahu mati!

Ciri pertama yang diindikasi Holden, adalah di dalam ucapan salam kita. Dulu, setelah kata halo, biasanya kita menambahkan kata-kata manis semacam: Senang sekali kita bisa bertemu! Nice to meet you! Sekarang, hampir di setiap perjumpaan yang keluar adalah kalimat: Lagi sibuk apa? Wah pasti sibuk nih!

Menurut tafsiran saya tambahan di salam kita dulu lebih humanis, karena kalimat itu seperti sedang menghargai kehadiran masing-masing kita di hadapan orang lain. Bahwa momen pertemuan adalah momen yang menggairahkan, mengandung chemistry. Di salam jenis kedua, yang seringnya menyudutkan kita untuk mereka-reka kesibukan, cenderung memaksa orang menjawab: Ya, lagi sibuk bla-bla-bla… Dan sudah merasuki pikiran banyak orang bahwa menjawab ‘Tidak’ adalah memalukan, menandakan kemalasan, tidak punya, tidak penting, kurang sukses, dan sejenisnya.

Kesibukan memang sesuatu yang tak bisa dihindari. Kesibukan yang sehat adalah yang sewaktu-waktu, bukannya ‘secara permanen sibuk’. Kesibukan menjadi gaya hidup, menjadi simbol status. Kita kemudian menjadi orang sibuk atau mencari-cari kesibukan. Setiap saat kita siap untuk menyatakan atau menjawab: Aku sibuk! Dengan meminjam silogisme Descartes, generasi sibuk senantiasa komat-kamit mantra: Aku sibuk, oleh karena itu aku ada! Sibuk adalah kebaikan. Menjadi sangat sibuk lebih baik lagi, laksana manusia unggul.

Namun kenyataanya lebih banyak terbalik. Kesibukan menjauhkan dari hidup atau menghalangi menikmati kehidupan, kata lain dari kebahagiaan. Bahkan sebuah proverbia menyatakan: hidup adalah apa yang terjadi ketika kesibukan mereka-reka rencana lain. Hidup hadir di luar kesibukan. Generasi sibuk terdorong oleh optical success, sebuah pencarian kesuksesan, namun tidak pernah benar-benar merasakan. Kita memperoleh banyak hal, namun menjadi sangat sibuk untuk sekedar menikmatinya. Kita mungkin mempunyai rumah, namun tersiksa dengan kesibukan demi membayar angsurannya, sehingga waktu berkualitas di rumah tidak pernah ada. Kita mempunyai suami/istri, namun sangat lelah untuk bisa mengolah cinta. Kita mempunyai anak, yang tanpa disadari sangat cepat menjadi dewasa. Akhirnya untuk bahagia pun, kita menjadi terlalu sibuk.

Robert J Shiller, professor ekonomi di Yale University pernah menulis: Kemampuan memfokuskan perhatian kepada hal-hal yang penting adalah karakteristik utama dari kecerdasan. Kesibukan permanen, menurut Holden, bukan hanya ketidakcerdasan, melainkan kegilaan. Contoh yang umum ia lihat misalnya di beberapa perusahaan di Wall Street apa yang disebut manuver ‘The Double Jacket’. Untuk memperlihatkan kepada para boss sebagai orang beretos ‘start early and finish late’, karyawan selalu membawa jaket cadangan, yang hanya disimpan di atas bahu kursi kerjanya.

Lalu apa yang mesti dilakukan? Jalan pertama adalah mematahkan berbagai mitos tentang kesibukan, yakni: bahwa kesibukan bukanlah kesuksesan yang nyata; kesibukan bukanlah tujuan kita; kesibukan tak mengandung nilai implisit; kesibukan sangat tidak produktif; dan kesibukan tidaklah people-friendly.

Within the Terminal Server and Citrix communities, there are actually people that write tools for these multi-user environments. There are certain tools which make life much easier for the average integrator and administrator. In general, people are just looking for more tools to do things they want.

The title refers one group that has made its tools available for free. Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy has a web site that offers several interesting TS/Citrix tools in a style similar to the old Sysinternals site. If you select the CAD Util Pack, you get:

GETPUBAPP - Info - Download
- a command-line tool for Citrix Servers to query what specific Published Application is running in the current session.

This utility was written for Citrix Servers to query the name of the current session's Published Application (if any) and display it in the command line.

Please go to the tools page to get a full description of each tool. Certain tools could be used everyday in automated logon scripts whereas others would be used to clean up or diagnose problems.

It's quite a list of programs to make available for free. I would recommend looking around and seeing what might help you. It might be easiest to just download the Util Pack to try them out.

I had heard of Ctrl-Alt-Del before from the other web sites for TS/Citrix and was impressed with the concept. Recently Warren Simondson contacted me in relation to this blog. We started exchanging emails and it did not take long to conclude how small world can be. It turns out that Warren works in Brisbane. He told me that he was hired at SiliconData to replace me leaving in 1999 (when I went to Citrix in Sydney). I had written some simple tools for Rick Mack and myself to help get certain tasks done. When I left, Rick insisted that Warren continue this. Warren wrote lots of tools and the end result is this large amount of free programs. This is my interpretation of the story that Warren told me. I do not know when Warren decided to make these tools available on the Internet. He certainly has done a great job.

If you happen to be in the Brisbane area and are interested in running a Citrix environment, I'm sure that Ctrl-Alt-Del would be a great candidate to talk with.

Setiap pagi sebelum menyapa Farrel, anak bungsu yang baru bangun, saya mesti melihat dulu gerak-geriknya. Sapaan yang keliru akan menyebabkan dia bad mood seharian. Judes, susah makan dan tak mau pergi ke Taman Bermainnya. Dan yang paling khas ucapannya: “Aku males sama ayah!” Lucu tapi cukup merepotkan. Bayangkan saya harus menguasai informasi dan perilaku, menjadi siapakah dia di hari ini? Kadang-kadang dia itu Eng, tokoh Avatar. Kalau saya sapa, “Selamat pagi Naruto!” Langsung cemberut, “Aku bukan Naruto! Aku males sama ayah!” Besoknya ternyata berubah jadi Spiderman. Dan berulang-ulang memberi teka-teki: Kambing apa yang bisa merayap di dinding? Jawabnya Sapidermen. Nggak nyambung kan, seharusnya pertanyaannya sapi apa. Malamnya nonton Transformer, Farrel berubah jadi robot. Saya bingung, karena nama robotnya banyak. Rahasianya, anak-anak tak mungkin memilih jadi tokoh jahat. Maka saya bilang: “Aku Megatron, pemimpin para Deception!” Alhamdulillah dia langsung semangat dan membocorkan jati dirinya: “Aku si Robot Biru, Prime Optimus!” Satu hari pun terselamatkan.

Namun demikian saya masih tetap bersyukur, karena belum ada anak saya yang mengaku menjadi nabi…

Tetapi masih. Beberapa orang di antara kita mengaku sebagai makhluk-makhluk suci, malaikat atau seorang nabi. Bahkan bisa berganti-ganti menjadi Jibril atau Maria, dan mampu menunjuk bahwa si anu adalah rasul, jelmaan al-Masih atau reinkarnasi Muhammad. Tiba-tiba saja seorang perangkai bunga menjadi permaisuri kerajaan tuhan. Tiba-tiba seorang peternak lele dumbo, mementahkan konsep khotamun nabiyyin. Dan masih. Segelintir bahkan ribuan orang mempercayai pengakuan itu.

Apa yang terjadi sesungguhnya? Yang jelas salah satunya adalah ada yang hilang dari pembelajaran kita, misalnya tentang kenabian. Ya, kenabian dengan latar belakang serta konsekuensinya yang wajar, kontekstual dan memanusia.

Masyarakat telah terlalu menjauhkan nabi dari keseharian. Nabi sebagai perwakilan komplit untuk kesadaran tinggi mengenai religi dan spiritualitas di dalam kehidupan dunia ini, kemudian menjadi sangat mistik bahkan adiduniawi. Nabi kita persepsi tidak ubahnya tukang-tukang sihir namun dengan nada positif. Nabi akhirnya tidak lain adalah ‘tukang sihir kanan’: ada di pihak Tuhan versus Iblis, mewakili cahaya murni melawan angkara api, yang doanya sanggup menindas mantra, yang ilmunya tidak hitam melainkan putih tak ternoda.

Cerita kenabian yang dihadiahkan kepada kita adalah keluarbiasaan yang dicerabut dari tanah aslinya, sehingga laksana hujan, kenabian datang tiba-tiba sebagai jawaban langit atas berbagai kerusakan di bumi. Ciri kenabian pun menjadi tidak lain tidak bukan adalah soal mukjizat. Adam tak berayah-ibu. Nuh si pembuat bahtera raksasa. Ibrahim yang tak mempan dibakar. Yusuf yang paranormal peramal mimpi. Musa yang tongkatnya bisa menjadi ular dan membelah laut. Sulaiman yang cakap berbincang dengan binatang, mendahului tokoh Dr. Doolitle. Yunus menjadi mirip pinokio di dalam perut ikan. Zakaria yang bisa mengisi pori-pori sebatang pohon. Isa yang tangannya bisa mendatangkan madu dan roti, sekaligus penyembuh dan penghidup orang mati. Muhammad yang dadanya dibelah malaikat, yang ke manapun dinaungi awan, dan seorang turis ilahiah yang berjalan dari Mekkah ke Palestina, kemudian melesat ke semua langit dan kembali hanya dalam satu malam.

Dan malasnya kita sebagai makmum senantiasa pasrah dan tertib: cukup percaya saja! Enggan menggali arkeologi pengetahuan lebih dalam, sehingga bisa mengikatkan amal kita pada amsal (perumpamaan) itu. Selamanya kita mencerna dengan guilty feeling, bahwa besarnya keimanan sebanding dengan lebarnya keikhlasan untuk menerima yang tak masuk akal. Setelahnya sedikit demi sedikit kita meremehkan daya hidup dari khasanah kesadaran dan reformatif kenabian. Cerita kenabian tak ubah laksana rombongan penghibur pasar malam penuh akrobat, yang lewat begitu saja, menghapus keingintahuan masa kecil.

Tentu sebenarnya tidak. Nabi adalah sosok yang hidup dalam konteks, cerdas dan sangat berani. Dalam tradisi Islam dikenal para pemuka di antara banyak nabi (‘ulul ajmi), yang sifat berpikir serta bertindaknya begitu revolusioner. Keunggulannya terletak pada seberapa dahsyat daya ubah bagi konteks kehidupan masyarakatnya. Nabi adalah reference yang terlibat dengan keseharian pikiran, perilaku serta kebijakan kaumnya. Dan terutama kaum tertindas, rakyat teraniaya atau golongan yang disepelekan keadilan. Artinya seorang nabi adalah belum-belum sudah merupakan para aktivis, para pekerja yang giat dalam transformasi kemasyarakatan ini. Sebuah penanda kemunculan abad baru, yang tahan kemudian jadi gairah sebuah peradaban.

Dan mukjizat? Sebuah keterangan menyimpulkan bahwa mukjizat diberikan Tuhan bukan sebagai bakat, bukan sebagai sesuatu yang bisa berlangsung atas kemauan para nabi itu sendiri. Ia hanya bisa hadir pada satu saat tertentu yang memang dikehendaki Tuhan. Ibrahim tidak selamanya tahan dibakar. Yusuf tak selamanya mampu meramal mimpi, bahkan untuk nasib dirinya ketika difitnah melakukan affair dengan sang Ratu. Musa tak semau-maunya bicara langsung dengan Tuhan, mengubah tongkat menjadi ular, dan mempermainkan lautan. Isa bahkan tak kuasa di tiang salib dan memohon untuk tidak ditinggalkan Tuhan: eli, eli, lamma sabakhtani. Mukjizat bukan sebuah keterampilan pokok profesi nabi. Muhammad kerap menampik permintaan orang-orang bodoh quraisy demi membuktikan kenabiannya dengan mempertontonkan mukjizat, dan tanpa geming: aku tidak lain diutus hanya sebagai jurnalis, penyampai berita dan pemberi peringatan.

Maka soal kenabian bukanlah soal mudah. Tidak hanya soal menerima mimpi aneh, kehendak obsesif, keserentakan inspirasi atau kecerdasan intuitif. Ia sebuah firman dan gerak sekalian. Ia belajar, melakoni dan terjun ke tengah-tengah perjuangan berkeringat serta berbahaya yang namanya kemanusiaan. Ada jeda waktu, bila membaca kisah-kisah kenabian dengan seksama, antara seseorang mulai aktif dalam pencerahan dan klaimnya sebagai nabi. Musa tak mungkin dikejar-kejar Fir’aun, bila tak membawa firman dan gerak menegakkan keadilan, hak-hak minoritas Bani Israil dan penghapusan budak. Yesus tak mungkin dibenci sehabis-habisnya, sampai kekuasaan kala itu menghukum salib laksana memperlakukan pencuri kambuhan, bilamana tidak ada firman dan gerak revolusioner yang mengganggu kenyamanan para despotis itu.

Ada 15 tahun dari Muhammad yang sering lewat dari penceritaan tentangnya. Yakni waktu usia beliau saat menikah, 25 tahun, sampai usia beliau pertama kali menerima wahyu, 40 tahun. Rentang waktu itulah yang seharusnya lebih dominan mewarnai sejarah Muhammad, karena itulah waktu penggemblengan. Kawah candradimuka, sehingga beliau masuk akal mendapatkan pencerahan puncak shidratul muntaha, yang menjadikannya manusia sensitif dan pengambilan keputusannya bisa menembus ruang waktu. Muhammad sempurna, karena ia menghayati dan terlibat. Muhammad utuh, karena ia manusia yang berpengaruh (insan kamil). Alih-alih menjadi mistikus diam yang total merenung di gua-gua, selama 15 tahun Muhammad terjun sebagai aktivis dengan membawa bendera liga orang-orang tulus (hilf al fudhul). Bersama liga itulah pertama-tama Muhammad mencengkeramkan penentangannya pada konglomerasi bangsawan Mekkah, kenaifan prinsip-prinsip jahiliyah yang sarat perbudakan dan ketidakadilan kepada perempuan, yang berjalin mutualisma dengan penghambaan keberhalaan serta kesesatan dari ketuhanan Allah yang satu.

Singkat kata, kenabian adalah gagasan besar menegakkan keadilan serta perjuangan dengan darah dan daging bagi perwujudannya. Bila kriteria ini terang di setiap benak, siapatah lagi yang gampang mengaku-ngaku sebagai nabi…

Satu tip sebagai penutup, bila pun ingin menjadi orang lain, kenapa orang-orang tak mau jadi Nasruddin Khoja. Orang saleh yang hidup biasa, yang bergelut dengan keseharian namun selalu mawas, yang filosofinya sangat jenaka tetapi dalam, dan membaktikan semacam ayat: dunia ini tak lain hanya senda gurau belaka. Atau seperti Santa Klaus. Orang tua yang tak rajin bercukur tetapi bersih, yang pakaiannya merah dengan model badut tetapi memang menghibur, yang datang tak diundang dan pergi tak disuruh, yang kredonya sederhana: “… aku ingin membahagiakan anak-anak di hari raya!” Dengan apa? Bukan dengan kepercayaan yang jelimet, bukan kerumitan ritual, bukan teologi spekulatif yang bertele-tele, atau praktek-praktek yang menyepelekan hidup dan nyawa. “Aku ingin membahagiakan anak-anak di hari raya… dengan ‘memberi mereka mainan’!” Ho-ho-ho.

Kalau ingin sedikit rumit, jadi sajalah seperti Rumi. Bersedekah dengan puisi, dan menari-nari: maa khalaqta haadzaa bathiila. Tak ada yang Allah ciptakan sia-sia…

Be aware, there may be spoilers to the sidequests.

Initial impressions:

• It is a very big game. Many planets, many people.
• It is incredible beautiful.
• There are only a very limited number of loading screens. For example it's possible walking round the entire Citadel Station [the main area with council, shops, bars, medical, security, embassies and much more] without a single loading screen.
• Apart from the game's main story there are many underlining stories, such as Xenophobia with aliens distrusting humans, humans distrusting aliens and personal vendettas.
• There are some interesting moral decisions, such as whether genetic treatment for babies with a possible fatal condition is good or if experiments for 'gifted' children can cause problems later on.
• The voice overs and dialogue options are superb.
• The music.
• The extremely powerful scenes, such as but not only the Council meetings.
• Some great side missions, such as:
  • Being interviewed for TV.
  • A 'religious' sect with a leader named 'Father' Kyle.
  • Hostage situations.
  • Illegal experiments.
  • Whether a dead soldiers body should be used to conduct experiments that can save thousands or be given to the husband.

The only 'bad' aspects so far:

• Not being able to access the Journal when looking at the Galaxy map. Yes, it's an absolute minor point, but still annoying!
• The party members don't feel as they did on KotOR I and II. There isn't as much incentive to learn their backstory.
• Kaiden Alenko has the same voice actor as Carth Onasi from KotOR. I keep wondering what Carth is doing there and how he escaped 'Star Wars'!
• Seth Green's voice acting is great, but whenever I talk to his character, Joker, I get reminded of this outtakes video he did.
• Thresher Maws. They literally scare the shit out of me.

The game takes many aspects from games that I love. Some are:

• Minor elements such as persuasion ['Charm'] and threat ['Intimidate'] from the KotOR series.
• Being able to make a speech. KotOR again [KotOR II, Dantooine].
• News stories that are affected by the actions in the game and maybe slightly altered for the 'masses'! Deus Ex Invisible War.
