kamal shaznee and miza came late. so janji melayu! 230pm la sangat! 330 baru datang and we ordered food la. kamal started d gossip session. hehe he was so semangat plus exeggerated d stories. bout his ex and some other gals. then we attacked miza bout her old scandal. plus new scandal *haha so unexpected la ure wit him!* shaznee as usual kept silent bajet x kena attack. kena la sikit sikit since she didn have any recently. i was gossiped wit kiroro. wut the hell man? we are friends je kot nothin more =p

we laughed and laughed without realizing some other ppl were lookin at us. who give them a damn! haha so selfish la us. before we chow, sempat la camwhore-ing kejap. haha credit to miza again for bringing camera. we went jalan jalan kejap and chow. i had fun! really =p

I had some fun the other day, making stationary for my soon-to-be (in just a few days!) sister-in-law!

You may recognize this design, as it is the same style as S and D’s wedding invitations. It’s so fun to just go into Illustrator, take the designs you already have all set up, tweak the colors a bit, add a different name, and VOILA!! Cute Stationary!

In other news, I am in desperate need of updating my Pen and Paper site. It needs some work! Now that a lot of my large invitation jobs have come to completion, I’m excited to have some time to work on building up the more “business-y” side of Lydia’s Pen and Paper and Lydia’s Cozy Corner.

Amanda’s invitations went out with great success! I was so happy with how they turned out and it was such fun working with her.

Things have been busy. We’ve, pretty much, moved all of our things out of our Little Italy place and will soon be residing in the more, San Diego “suburbs” area.

Now, it’s off to the East Coast for my younger brothers wedding and then back to a house that will needs LOTS of unpacking.

Wish me luck! I’m gonna need it…

Soy candles are a new hit among candle loving burners everywhere.  They are great this time of year and the fine folks at the Cozy Corner contacted me to design a small online store to let people buy their homemade creations at www.cozysoycandles.com.  They wanted a basic style, simple yet with classy elements and a clean style.  I also used a tea candle image they took in the header and added a personal touch of a butterfly rollover for them.  They are a family run store and I wanted to make a cozy personal website with warm colors for them. 

Taking small baby steps with your business online with a small store or informational website is easier than ever.  I'm glad I was able to give them a site design they wanted.

But lately I've noticed that he doesn't seem to be using the Happy Hut to sleep anymore. Stewie still crawls into it at night to signal that it's nite-nite time, but when I've peeked under the covers later I see that he's come back out.

And in the morning when I uncover him now, if he's not already climbing around, he's on his perch leaning against his Cozy Corner. The Cozy Corner is made of the same material as the Happy Hut, but it just hangs on the side of the cage for him to lean against (basically a blanket except it has a little hood-like thing).

I have yet to catch him on film as he's sleeping with it, but trust me, it's adorable.

Anyone else have a small parrot that has both of these? If yes, which does it prefer, the fleece tent or the fleece blanket tied to the side of the cage?

If your bird doesn't have either, I highly recommend getting at least one or the other.

“Excuse me?” I replied. The boy behind the counter at Cozy Corner serving lunch couldn’t have been more than 10, maybe even 8 judging by his height. He had lighter skin than the man of 30 or so, who was a deep brown, also behind the counter, but they had the same jaw line and smile.

“Hot or mad?” Oh. I get it.

“Mild, please.” Last night’s chicken from Gus’s had ripped through me earlier in the morning, yet I was willing to have a little of the hair of the dog for my sliced pork sandwich, served with slaw already on it. The sign by the dining area said, “This section for self-service only,” and a computer print-out sheet over the arch leading to the section announced to all customers who were gearing for a fight, “The only one who’s right all the time is Jesus…” There was no AC, just ceiling fans circling lazily.

He punched in numbers to his register like he’d been doing it since sippy cups at age 4 and then processed my credit card – “debit or credit?” – this kid didn’t miss a beat. As the machine started to spew my receipt, the boy looked up at me and said, “You ready to write?”

“Sure.”

My receipt came out and he placed it on the counter in front of me. Then he plopped down a purple pen that was nine inches long and about an inch thick, and his face remained stoic, staring at me. I let out a belly laugh.

“Good thing my bill wasn’t as big as this pen!”

“You wanna snake with your meal?”

The lady behind the counter at Famiglia Pizza in the Memphis airport queried me as she rung up my cheese pizza and bottled water.

“Excuse me?” Seemed to be my favorite saying today.

“A snake.” She motioned over to the muffins, cookies, and fresh fruit to the right of the register. Oh. I get it. Snack.

“Sure. I’ll have a banana.”

"Where are you headed?" the flight attendant asked the couple across the aisle from me.

" 'Crowshay' Mountain." Spelled Crochet.

Pause.

"I grew up in New Hampshire," she said with a smile. "We call that 'crotchitt' mountain."
