Now, you're not going to see this in stores any time soon. But if you'd like to get an idea of what Nokia thinks the future of communications will look like, take a look at the Nokia 888 communicator, a concept design that recently won Nokia's Benelux design contest.

It is targeted to the young consumers who are likely to be active and take place in a lot of different activities.

Because they move and change place too much. They do a lot of different things during the day. So that’s what my design offers : to adjust to the moment, the place and the function.

The bracelet-like 888 is envisioned to use a liquid battery, feature speech recognition, a flexible touch screen, and a touch sensitive body cover. A video showing off the device's potential features shows off close to a dozen functions, including an alarm clock, PDA, GPS, phone, push email receiver, digital wallet and, of course, jewelry. And, other than the "liquid battery," we can actually see this in the not-too-distant future.

This is the great looking design concept from branko Lukic. The Tarati is a phone with no keys, you pass your fingers through the keyholes to dial. Lukic describes it best:

Tarati enables the user to connect with others by passing fingers, in order, through key holes. This action of dialing alone is a more magical experience and, hence, more indicative of what's really happening beyond the visible realm. ... Tarati beckons the user to "touch" someone without physically touching a single key. Its design reflects human connectivity in a less material/mechanical, more sensual, way.

I think the phone looks great but i can imagine getting very frustrated trying to send a text message with this thing after a few beers.

It’s a slim candy bar style phone complete with a big screen, standard SE key layout but touched up with stainless steel buttons. Yes it’ll do music, movies, text, email, blah blah and blah so where’s the innovation here? It would be the full size USB port, perfect for any thumb drive. Of course it’s not meant to have a “sore thumb” sticking out at all times, but it’s a way to transfer files like music, videos, and pictures to and from without the need of a computer.

The standard wireless cellular phone tend to come with the most modern, up-to-date technology there is and that of course is blue tooth. There are many different brands and types of wireless cellular phones so we aren't going to be able to get through every one this article. We have just decided to take a look at the most popular ones these days.

Wireless Cellular Phone # 1: The LG-VX9800

This cell phone, although not as widely advertised as some of the other ones seen on the market today, does have a great deal going for it, especially if you communicate via text messaging on a regular basis. One of the major complaints that I have with even the best wireless cellular phone out there is that it is difficult to type a text message with the keyboard that also functions as your number keypad. The LG-VX9800 and its similar models help to solve that problem by providing the user with an easily accessible keyboard as part of the phone that mimics a normal keyboard, albeit in smaller size. Simply flip this wireless cellular phone open and have access to something that will truly let your fingers do the talking.

Although it is a bit on the bulky size, this phone offered by Verizon Wireless is a great way to have the technology of the full QWERTY keyboards at your fingertips for a vast improvement on sending messages on every level. One drawback though is the price, which can range anywhere from $199.00 to $319.00 depending on the deal at the time. If you’re looking for a wireless cellular phone that gives you the ability to compose text messages easily, this just might be the best choice for you.

Phone # 2: Motorola SLVR L7

The next wireless cellular phone indicates just how vast the design market is when it comes to these little beauties. After the rampant success of the Motorola Razr, the company determined correctly that thing was in for some of its more trendy customers. It was easy to see that this phone was geared not towards the working informational technology expert like the wireless cellular phone mentioned above, but for the twenty-something personality who considered their phone to be a fashion accessory in one sense or another. The Motorola SLVR’s main calling card is the fact that it is very thin, resembling an open Razr that has been pressed even thinner than previously thought. The features included in this wireless cellular phone are a VGA camera, as well as the ability to play and download iTunes.

There are quite a few drawbacks, however to this particular type of wireless cellular phone. Perhaps because of its diminished size, the performance and features sometimes leave a bit to be desired. For instance, the included Bluetooth capability is confined to voice calls, and the speakerphone feature can only be activated after initializing the call. In addition, the Motorola SLVR V7 still doesn’t allow reception of FM stations, which is a strange omission for a phone that gears itself as a music lover’s phone.

Inevitably there are going to be people who will find it unnecessary to purchase a wireless cellular phone, however for many people they are a must. The question you have to ask yourself is, how often am I going to be receiving phones and what is the likely duration of these calls going to be?
